Miami Heat Blow OT Lead, Still Winless | Bam Adebayo Leaves Game | Starters Struggle vs Hawks Bench

Welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you. No, I’m just kidding. I’m not gonna Oh, maybe just for having to watch that game, but no, I’m just kidding. Um, welcome on in, guys. Tobin here with you. We’ve established that. uh he lose tonight 119 118 in overtime because why Gardner decided to go for the two I’ll never know but he did and then things were going pretty well. Uh, and then Kesha Johnson, man. I mean, Kesha Johnson, uh, you know, is running the inbounds because he’s supposed to be the leader of these, you know, future Sou Falls players. And he, uh, tries to get into Gabe Matson who’s hounded. They turn it over. Just just a complete rudderless botch job by Miami. They completely had this one. What were they up? Seven with a minute left to go. It was quintessential the same as last year with blowing games. It was crazy. The Heat I think. Yeah, they were up 116 109. Um but they just they they just kept like fouling the Atlanta Hawks. You could have just let the Atlanta Hawks score every time they wanted. you would have been in a better spot than you were. Kept stopping the clock and, you know, sending him to the free throw line and it was just, [Music] you know, just just a uh excruciating game to watch today, ladies and gentlemen. An excruciating preseason to watch thus far, ladies and gentlemen. Um, lots of not a lot of great not a lot of great. I mean, Ethan Thompson had a really nice overtime. Uh, you know, props to that. I mean, it was, you know, the G-Leaguers fighting back and forth, you know, basically the entire fourth quarter. But Keshot, man, like I got to start with him just because, you know, I I I had a lot of hopes with him coming into the season. This by no means defines what his season is going to be, but in a in a game where you’re supposed to be getting NBA minutes this year, you looked very much as as much like a guy who belongs on a two-way as opposed to a guaranteed deal. And uh yeah, that can’t happen, man. I I I it looked like he had found something. You know, he had a great assist to Thompson and then he got a runner, did a nice little bully move. Then we had this weird delay where like the floor was moist. Very strange. And then Keshad smoked a fast break layup, but they end up getting the put back and going to the line. Um, and I was just like, “All right, well, fine.” But, uh, yeah, the fouls were just a plenty and then what happened happened. They botched the inbounds and that’s what it is. heartbreaking loss for the Heat who remain winless on the preseason which by the way the Heat are playing a lot of preseason games this year. The Heat by design I think the most you can play is six which is what the Heat are playing. Uh most teams play four. Um the Heat have lost every single one of these ones. Today was particularly disappointing for a couple of reasons. Um because the Heat I want say they played their starters because you know they went into this thing with uh you know no Yoic isn’t on the trip. They started Drew Smith. So, they’ve been playing DaVon off the bench, which I don’t know if that’s a tip on anything just because that’s what Spo, you know, Spo’s doing his usual thing of like just keeping a guy in his role and he wants to keep DaVon Mitchell there. And DaVon, I would say DaVon and Haime had some good moments today off the bench. Um, Haime continues having a a really rock solid preseason. So, that’s like one of the good things. I would say the good of this preseason is probably Haime Hakez, KL Wear, and that’s about it. I mean, like look, the Heat shot under 40%. I think Eric Reed said it’s the third time they’ve done that. The pre this preseason, they were five of 34 from downtown. And that was, let me get in regulation. I think they were three of 30 today in regulation. It was an It was an atrocious basketball game to watch. Three of 30 today from downtown. Three of 30 from downtown. That That’s So they nearly matched their threes tonight in overtime. Uh it’s been some really rough basketball. Nobody really packed their shot tonight. Uh you look at the starters today who all look like strangers quite frankly. Uh Andrew Wiggins three of 11. Bam. Four of 11. Norman Powell four of 14. It was not a fun watch today, dude. Um, not a fun watch in any means. And look, I I’m not and I probably should mention the worst part of today, which was that Bamabio who, you know, Bam Adabio today who finished with 13 points, nine rebounds in 19 minutes, you know, and started to get it going. Got to the free throw line a good amount today as did Norman Powell. So, that was there. But, uh, but they like here’s the thing. You can’t really be impressed with anything the starters did today or or the group of starters that were out there. The Hawks were playing nobody. Like they literally said one guy, I think his name is Lamont Butler, I think they said he signed this afternoon and the guy comes out, he’s absolutely cooking in the first quarter of this game and Miami got down to got down like what was their their largest deficit in this game? Let me see. It should say it. largest dev largest leave of the loss. I think it was 14. I think it was 14 in yeah the second quarter I think it ended up being 14 was their largest lead. Miami ended up going on a 160 run to you know get back and make this a game. But dude, again, look, one of the things with losing Duncan Robinson and not having Tyler Hero, uh, this team cannot shoot. I mean, they don’t and and I don’t necessarily know where that’s going to come from. Uh, Yoic certainly can provide some spacing. Uh, you need Wiggins to have one of his on nights. You need Norman Pal to be hitting his shots, but there’s not necessarily that ignitable guy that Eric Folster likes to talk about on this roster. So, you know, wouldn’t say this like worries me, but did I en have I enjoyed watching the last couple of games? No. Was this a confidence booster in any way? Not really, dude. Uh I can’t I I I can’t say that I’m I’m I’m pleased with what I’m watching. And then you m uh you add on top of it with Bam. Bam ends up leaving the game today with a knee contusion. Thought it was an ankle. I don’t really know which one is better or worse. I guess it depends um on on how bad the the bruising is for Bam, but that’s not a fun injury to have. So, we’ll keep an eye on that. But obviously, and then, you know, you worry a little bit about this whole thing with him and Kell, like how is that spacing going to work together? You know, Bam and K, their numbers were pretty good last year, but you do worry again about the shooting of this team. And certainly with Drew Smith out there, like I don’t really get I don’t really get why spell went that direction. Um and I like Drew. Drew had a you know, one of his quintessential uh I feel like I’ve used that word a lot today. One of his uh trademark, you know, steal it and then put it in for an and one. Those those hustle plays that he can bring to the table. But not great, dude. No, I’m not gonna want maybe I want to do it, but uh yeah, trying to see, man. What else we got from today? Uh we got say a little bit of Fonteio. I mean, nothing really there that was uh that was um overly impressive from his standpoint. I got cut today, too. Like, that was another thing. Like, guys just kept getting banged up. Uh, Bam got banged up. DaVon twisted an ankle. Uh, Fonteo headbutt Butler and he ended up cut on his eye. It was uh it was tough, man. Not exactly the most enjoyable watch in the world. This has not exactly been a uh not exactly been a preseason to write home about so far tonight. And then uh you know, you were kind of hoping like, “All right, this was an ugly game. The shooting was bad, but you were going to pull one out and nope, classic heat. Let me uh let me lose in the most uh embarrassing, gut-wrenching fashion.” Even if it is the the pre like they literally just they pulled out the regular season playbook today. Even the G-Leaguers are doing that. You’re just like, “What? What do you What do you mean you blew that lead? I don’t understand. You you you had this lead in overtime. It was right there for you and yet somehow you you you you screwed the pooch on that one. I don’t understand. Well, understand it that he got their largest lead of the game and the Hawks said doesn’t matter. So, the other thing that’s a piece of news and I don’t know what to make of this. Um, couple more things, not necessarily game related, but on the broadcast, uh, Dominique Wilkins, I think this is Dominique Wilkins because he is, uh, the analyst for the television network, but, uh, Heat Culture on Twitter. I saw some people talk about this Heat Culture, but it, um, and he said that I was talking to Miami Heat personnel and they said Tyler Herro would be ready to go by the beginning of the regular season. I I imagine Spo’s going to be asked about that. Um I don’t I don’t know how many local reporters are boots on the ground for that one. So I don’t want to be um too presumptive on that one, but he will if it if they’re not today whenever they practice again this week or at the um Red, White, and Pink, he will be asked about that. But that is interesting. I know, you know. So just keep that in mind that that it appears Dominique Wilkins put that out in the ether. I’m assuming it’s him. um that Tyler Herro could be back by the regular. God damn, they look like they needed him tonight if that is the case cuz wow they uh they cannot shoot a lick. Um so just keep that in mind. I also lashed out at ESPN today. Uh and I probably shouldn’t have but you know I was just I was really bothered like today I guess was I don’t know if you guys watch NBA today today. NBA today. I did not. But today was supposed to be, I guess, heat day. 30 teams in 30 days, right? And so they post some stuff on social media that was like the first thing they posted was a a CGI LeBron statue, you know, doing the uh doing his celebration. And they were like does which and the was weird because the question was does LeBron deserve his jersey retired which is like why would you put a fake statue that’s kind of weird I guess just eye-catching which he obvious and I just want to make this clear LeBron obviously deserves to have his jersey retired with the Heat. You know I may have had my my team pett era against LeBron James but I will not deny his heat excellence. You know, he absolutely deserves to get his jersey retired, but that’s not the point. If it’s heat day on social media, can you guys just post something about the actual team? Like, you don’t think like respectfully, you don’t think LeBron gets enough coverage? All right. And I get it. The Heat are not the sexiest team in the world right now. Okay, I can acknowledge that. But they did just have a they did they do have a a an all rookie player who was pretty excellent this past week and had some pretty badass highlights. Perhaps you could put that on heat day. Maybe Casper Yakonis. People have said he’s the steel of the draft. Could you put something like that in Drake? No. LeBron. So I went on a rant about this on my radio show and I will be damned if I am not getting trolled. Now I know some people who work for ESPN social media. not well, but I know of them and we press. So, I don’t know if somebody’s trolling me here, okay? But let me tell you something, dude. I am about to get home today. All right. I pull into my driveway and I look on my phone and I’m like, “What the is this?” Because these rat bastards host a another LeBron thing with the Heat and tag me on it, which is it was, let me just get the act. It was a an old video that I shot at heat camp which was when Tyler Herro was talking to the campers and he was like being asked about, “Hey, who’s the best player, dude?” And he basically was like, you know, he was he was like, “I have to say LeBron James.” And so I put this video up and this is not the first time they post it. Like they reach out, hey, can we post a video? Cool. What? Whatever. It was five years ago. And I’m like again with another LeBron Heath thing. You kidding me, dude? Can we po like again? LeBron awesome time. Big three era again for for the kids who are younger around here who didn’t like who tune in. I don’t know if there’s ever going to be anything like that in sports. The the Heat Big Three era. Like if you weren’t there, you missed a rockstar era, okay, of of LeBron, Wade, and Chris Bosch together. It was incredible. And nobody’s not appreciating it. I’m just saying if it’s heat week, can we please put some Heat stuff on? And like I’m looking at it right now, it looks like they posted uh they posted Yovic where Yoic made the NBA Finals. That’s the only Is that the only thing they put up? They uh they got Ashton Hall up here. They have let’s see they have a Chris They got a LeBron Chris Boskott. They got the Harlem Shake. Like it’s all big three stuff. And again, great time. No, this isn’t the sexiest team in the world. But dude, you can’t you you know, Bam Pile’s got some credentials. Tyler Hero’s done some things. They got Norman Pal. You can’t post any of that stuff about the Heat on Heat Day. 30 teams and 30 you just it just has to be all big three stuff. And by the way, if you’re gonna go if you’re gonna go vintage, you you guys don’t post one Dwayne Wade thing, nothing. Not one Dwayne Wade highlight at all. If you’re going to go vintage, you’re going to go retro. It’s going to be all Heat LeBron. Who’s the person who What are they 14 years old who put this together? Anyway, so I lashed out. I saw and I said to him, I said, “Hey, um, put some wear and Yakon’s eyelids up here, you bums. Not my 5-year-old video.” And I get it. Um, look, it’s it’s it’s fine, but like I’m I’m used to it at this point. But, you know, I guarantee I’m going to and now I’m going to be monitoring this. I’m going to look to see like, oh, what does everybody else else get for 30 for 30 days? Is it all like LeBron, LeBron, LeBron, LeBron, LeBron? Is that what everybody’s getting? But like, would it kill him to put up something current? I guess so. At least Nico got a post. I’m happy about that. Hope this back injury isn’t bad. Otherwise, I got to watch more of this. Not going to do it because it’s preseason, but I was thinking about it.

  1. I was the most optimistic person this summer but now that I see it all put together I can confidently say that this team ain’t gonna do shit. 9th seed for sure

  2. Going through these comments and some how Heat fans are more negative than Dolphins fans( yes i know some of you are both ) which is absolutely mind blowing.

  3. I'm not worried about anything about the preseason,
    SPO is a mad scientist…
searching for certain things for the team, the preseason has NEVERRR EVERRRR been about winning games,

  4. Yeah I don’t think anyone on our team really gives a fuck about the heat apart from herro cause his ego is getting all the attention from silver surfer

  5. Why in the first place spo playing Norman bam and Wiggins Hawks just rest there starters a d heat still struggling even if it's preseason but getting a win you feel good going into regular season but no win man it's gonna be tough for them believe me

  6. Heat are messing Bam up.. guy is a PF and Spo keeps rotating him between PF and C giving him two jobs to do. You want him as a C keep him there and ket him do his work there. Dont start him alongside Ware or even play him alongside ware during games if he is your center! I believe starting him as a PF and keeping him there would bring his best A game out but since Spo sees him as a C keep him there and dont ask him to play PF at all!

  7. I’m starting to think it’s not the players. It’s the coaches. Eric Spo for the last 3 years have been horrible his plays are horrible. It’s gonna be another disappointing season.

  8. I'm going to temper my emotions by reminding myself this is preseason and also we're leaning more on new/young players, but I'm also aware that for a team without a "superstar" we need to start the season with everyone healthy to really give ourselves a chance to not end up in the play-in or worse. The fact that we are already missing Tyler, Niko, Terry, now Bam and Kasparas and Davion may have something lingering doesn't bode well for the season. Also, Miami looks like they have no real threat from the 3 point line.

  9. Just the fact that andrew wiggins might be our best player shows the GLARING failures of the front office. We are the least talented team in the nba and that unfortunately is 100% on pat riley 🤷

  10. I’ve been a DIE hard heat fan but I want this team to FAIL so the front office can wake the F up

Or maybe they will just say “they like there players and team for the fourth straight year and stuff herro and bam down our throats when EVERYONE knows they aren’t it

  11. Well i already said one two many times waste of money on dru Smith they need to get rid of dru Smith n theses so called two way players. First mistake was when they let Duncan Robinson leave. Then they trade haywood highsmith the best defender on the team start dievon n if the heat play like this when the regular season starts they might as well tank there's lucky if there not in the playin again. Again

  12. Bam is dangerously close to being called overrated. if Norman Powell is the only significant signing this team could have made, you know that's a bad sign of the season to come.

  13. The Heat deserve what they get. Had Jimmy Butler and (Pat Riley) refused to get him any help. Decided to roll with Bam (a glorified roll player) & Herro (a sixth man as your go to option) and we’re seeing how this is going. I’m predicting Miami coming in as a 8th seed via ‘play in’ and getting eliminated 1st round, again.

  14. This team is ass… and Spo doesn’t have a plan…
This team should’ve been built around Bam, instead it’s built for the owners to save some money… 😒😤
