Not the fairy tale run I’m sure some of us were hoping for after a strong pre-season, but he’s on a great track so far. This is probably what’s best for his development. Excited for cooter in the coming years.
Was a good story but just wasn’t working.
He will be good player and I am sure he is taking back a tonne of experience to focus on in junior.
I’m not entirely surprised. Cootes definitely did not make enough of a splash to warrant him being kept up here for the season, much less for the entirety of the nine games. Pre-Season was promising but as a lot of others will tell you, ultimately meaningless games where people are just trying not to hurt themselves.
Good move. Saw three separate NHL groups so lots and lots to take away from his time this year. Should light a fire under him to get even better.
In a couple years when his frame fills in he’s gonna be pretty dang good.
he should be proud and hopefully he will climb his way up.
I would have wanted to see him with the big club for the 9 game stint, but I trust Foote wants to protect his confidence. He now knows what to work on in the NHL.
Still a huge accomplishment to make the team as an 18 year old, Cootes! See you next year!
Aw wished he had gotten Atleast a point.
I don’t mind this move. Cootes looks a bit overwhelmed unfortunately, and Sasson’s a scrappy guy that I’ve been hoping to see in the lineup.
Only reason to ever keep him up was if he was directly impacting the play. Playing protected minutes and just kinda getting by unnoticeable, in my opinion, isn’t the best development for an 18 year old kid. It’s nice he got a taste of it but I’m happy for Sasson to get his chance.
The right move. He struggled the most out of the Canucks forwards. A good experience overall and was very deserving of the spot and the 3 games he played
It’s for the best. He’s got lots of potential
It was still incredible for him to make team out of camp and those 3 games of experience will give him areas to work onto improve his game next season. I hope he gets traded out of Seattle in the WHL and go to a stronger team where he has a chance to compete and win. Personally, would love to see him traded to Royals so I can see him regularly, I don’t remember the Royals ever having a Canucks prospect on the team.
Also from Foote today:
“Adam Foote on line combos: Right now, I’m leaning more towards going Petey with Garly and maybe Kane, we’ll see, and Chytil with Boes, and then you’ve got the speed with DeBrusk.”
Gotta say im very glad to hear this
No brainer kid was getting caved in every moment he was on the ice
Org was in over their head to have start the season up at all
Was hoping for more but this is the right move. I’m excited for him to develop, look back at his tapes – where he can improve and build on the foundation. Still proud of his performance in the pre-season. Looking forward to the future.
Gotta start pulling together some wins here. Good move.
I hope Sasson can hit the ground running and help get Lekkerimaki some looks as well.
Nothing to see here. He got a taste of what life is like in the NHL playing against the best in the world every night. That should help him in the long run, and now he can comfortably play top minutes and work on his craft.
Sasson had a solid preseason and I think he’s just scratching the surface of what he can be at the highest level. He has the speed, hockey smarts, and grittiness to handle himself very solidly as a role player.
Correct move by Foote. I hope that Lekk stays up with a better center.
W he’ll be back 10x better next season
Get ready to learn Kelownese buddy
kinda what i expected to happen. thought he may have been given 5ish games, but probably for the best to develop for another year
happy with sasson getting his shot, but sucks from an abby pov cause he was solid in the first 2 games. hopefully, he can bring his heart/grit to the team that doesn’t seem to have any
The right move, just 3 games too late unfortunately. Would’ve been great to send him back to junior after the confidence high of his pre-season. Really hope we haven’t rattled him too much.
None of this is his fault though, let him dominate at the junior level for at least another season to round out his offensive game.
Exactly what is needed. Cootes is gonna have a great career down the road, but he’s not ready for full-time NHL hockey yet.
He is going back to Junior knowing exactly what he needs to work on this year to be a full-time roster player next year. Im very excited to see what he looks like next year at training camp
No surprise here. While the kid showed great in camp it was pretty clear he was out of his element once the regular season started. That shift where he, Lekke, and DOC were hemmed in the Dzone for over a minute versus the Blues was a rough sight.
I’m excited for his future, but for now the WHL is the best place for him.
This was the likely outcome anyway, but given the boys are on the road for a bit now, why not take him along for the ride… a few more games won’t change much, keeps it below 9, and gives him some road experience and also less pressure than when playing at home.
The bright side. I’ll see him with the Thunderbirds this weekend.
I liked us giving him the chance because he proved he deserved it. Now he knows what it’s takes and can train, improve, and be ready to be the center we need for the future of the team. Really liked this overall arc of his. Can’t wait to see him after some more development.
For the best, good idea to keep him up and good idea to send him down if he’s not lighting up the NHL
The right choice
Did well in preseason but it became clear after every game that Cootes was probably the worst player on the team. He’s still too young.
This is the right move, I wanted to see Cootes play the whole year, cuz I had my hopes high. This isn’t even an indictment on him. There’s no sense in him playing 10:00 a night on a bad team and getting no opportunities. It felt like last night especially every shift was just him chasing the puck for :40 then going back to the bench. If this team were better, he’d look better and have more opportunities to do things with the puck, but if they were better, he might not have gotten this chance in the first place. So it’s kind of a catch 22. I just wish he could go to Abby instead of the dub.
Can anyone explain the rules around age restriction and why he’s going to Seattle instead of Abbotsford?
Right call
Wrong call was having him and Lekki together. Both needed vets on their line.
Willing to see how Canucks look when one line isn’t getting taken to the woodshed every game. Think they had like a 1-20 chance disadvantage lol.
The real NHL is a huuuge step. Most players just flat out don’t make it. It’s not nothing to do well in the preseason, but that’s a pale shadow of what happens when the rubber hits the road.
Cootes is is good ‘un though, and I think he learned a lot. He’ll be back sooner than later.
Now this team can finally thrive
Sasson will be a big improvement over Cootes.
Cootes needs another year in the WHL and then one more years in the AHL.
Where’s the Cootes truthers today? The ones who didn’t even watch him play in Junior.

For the best, things would be different if the team was maybe playing much more coherently.
this is the right move on both sides. cootes is a great player, he did good for an 18 year old kid. got some good experience and got to learn a lot. now the canucks can call up sasson who has more experience and is a tried and true player. this is the best case scenario as far as im concerned
Sasson has always impressed me when he’s been called up. He got good vision and speed. Cootes should be proud of himself and i’m sure he’ll be a top guy for us in the future.

Absolute correct decision
