Dang, I loved his work with us. Wouldn’t have minded seeing him come back, but no way we’d make a bench coach hire before hiring the actual manager first
I can’t speak to his time in Cleveland, but based on his time in San Francisco, I never really understood his “defensive guru” reputation. Maybe the stats tell a different story, but, anecdotally, our defense always felt pretty middling/mediocre during his four years here.
