New England Patriots Trade Targets Ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline Ft. Chris Olave & Breece Hall
We are less than one month away from the NFL trade deadline on November 4th and the rumors are going to start circulating. They’re going to start rising and some teams are going to be buyers and some teams are going to be sellers. But with the Patriots being pretty good this year, Mr. Elliot Wolf might be a buyer. So on today’s show, we’re going to be talking trade targets. I got four of them for you. But first, before we get into it, last night the Atlanta Falcons took down the Buffalo Bills, and that means that the New England Patriots lead the AFC East for the first time since 2021. Hey guys, we’re back. Spam your f Buffaloos down in the chat below because we want to let everybody know that the Patriots are back. Do it right now. [Music] Welcome into Patriots Today by Chat Sports. I am your host Brett Albert and on today’s show I got four players the Patriots could be targeting to look at as we get closer and closer to the trade deadline. We are about it is the trade deadline is November 4th. Today is October 14th. So you do the math about three four weeks away and it’s going to creep up on you fast. But I got four of them for you. And let’s start off just with one that PFF kind of mentioned. And I was a little confused when I saw this. And they mentioned that DeAndre Hopkins could be a perfect landing spot for the New England Patriots. And kind of talking about DeHop, talking about DeAndre Hopkins, it’s a little confusing because he’s old. He’s at the tail end of his career. And this season, like when we talk about the Patriots trying to go get a wide receiver, we’ve talked about they need a deep threat. They need a not an aging wide receiver. And you can see right here, nine catches. He hasn’t been doing much. Two touchdowns on the year. He did have that amazing one-handed grab, I think, in the opening game against the Buffalo Bills. But I just have one question, like why? Why? And when PFF mentioned it, I was just like, I mean, we can consider it. But here’s what they had to say about a potential trade. Having already suited up for three teams over the last two years, Hopkins would soon call a fourth franchise home. San Francisco may pursue another wide receiver and lay the persistent injuries at the position. While the Pats, who ranked seventh in team PFF receiving grade thanks to Drake May, could seek another field stretching option for May next to Stfane Diggs and Kahan Booty. And I talked about his stats before, like they’re not eye popping. He hasn’t done much at all this season. He is not the former wide receiver, the top wide receiver going for a thousand yards every single year, nine receptions, 178 yards. Yeah, it’s cool. You get 20 yards per catch, but you’re not on the field that much and two touchdowns. Biggest question that I have to ask when you’re going to look for a wide receiver is you already have Stfan Diggs who’s on the back side of 30. Do you really want another aging wide receiver on your team? Do you really want to go out and waste draft capital to get a guy like DeAndre Hopkins who honestly the Patriots do not really need? They don’t need him at all. And if you look at the Patriots wide receiver depth chart, they need a deep threat because Stefon Diggs isn’t a deep threat. Pop Douglas was a deep threat on Sunday. He was kind of having his breakout game, but I still don’t really want him to be that or the deep threat. I want a guy that’s big. I want a guy that’s tall. You had Kahan Booty Kyle Williams was supposed to be the one to take the top off the defense. DeHop’s not going to do that at this age. All I think of when I think of DeAndre Hopkins is he’s solely just going to be a red zone target for the Patriots. And you don’t need that. You have M. Holland, you have Pop Douglas, you have Kahan Booty who’s caught a bunch of touchdowns. Stfan Diggs, I’m still waiting to get his first touchdown as a Patriot, but it’s gonna come at some point. I don’t see the need for DeHop. And if you wanted if you wanted to trade for him as an aging wide receiver who’s not making a lot of money, I’d send him a six round pick max. That’s it. You’re not maybe even a seven if that. It’s not going to be much. I’m not taking DeHop at all. I don’t want him. There’s no need to have him. But if he’s a fit, PFF can say so. But I don’t agree with it whatsoever. But if the Patriots do end up making a move, if they make a trade, we got you covered. And that’s why subscribe to the channel. I had this when I made the graphic. 32,596. And one person, one lucky fan already subscribed to the channel. We are 403 subs away from 33,000, ladies and gentlemen. So if you want daily videos, if you want if you love live streams, subscribe to Patriots today, right now. And the best part, it’s 100% free. Speaking of a deep threat and a wide receiver that I’d actually look to trade for, sticking with the core is Chris Alave. The guy who just absolutely cooked the Patriots on Sunday for about six catches and 95 yards. They were going underneath every single time. But the first play of the game against the Patriots, it was a deep bomb. And who was it to? It was to Chris Ave. It was immediate. Hey, we’re we’re not taking any chances right here. I don’t care what happens. We’re throwing it 50 yards down the field, 53 yards. cooking Kyle Duggar for a 50-yard catch. And Chris Lave, he would be an absolute threat for the Patriots. I mean, his last couple seasons, there’s been a couple of bit injury concerns about him, but overall, he’s been one of the top wide receivers in football when healthy. You can see right there, 16 games played, 15 games played, over 1,000 yards every single time, over 12 yards per catch, almost 13, and multiple touchdowns. Except you see the last game or the last last season only eight games played. He hasn’t played a full season. And why is that? Because he has a major concussion problem. And there’s a huge risk. That’s the only reason why he’s on the trade block in the first place. He’s going into a time where he can get a contract extension, but everybody looks at him as, well, if you get one more concussion, your see your career might be done. He might be out of the league. It’s very, very risky if you trade for a guy like him and then he immediately gets a concussion. He could already be out of the league, but he also has a lot of ties to Ohio State because he went there and who has great ties to Ohio State, head coach Mike Frabel. And there’s rumors that he loves Chris. This what Albert Brerier had to say, one of the NFL reporters, a top NFL reporter in the league. and he can say, “I can tell you that out of all the guys of Brian Hartline had over there over the course of the last six or seven years since Brian Hartine is the wide receiver coach, Garrett Wilson, JSN, Marvin Harrison, there’s nobody that Mike Frabel loves more than Chris Ave. So, I think that Frabel would get a very good feedback on a lav from Ohio State. So, all right, I kind of I I would love a trade for Chris Ave. I would entertain it 110%. But what is it going to take? Well, I mentioned a fourth and after kind of talking and looking around, I don’t think it’s going to be a fourth. If you can get him for a fourth, do it. But the 2026 third round pick and I think I do not think the Patriots are going to keep seven wide receivers. So, you would get rid of somebody. And the guy who did break out on Sunday, Pop Douglas, but he’s still been on the low end of the totem pole with the Patriots. I would give him to the Saints for that. Would you guys make this trade? Chris Ave for a 2026 third and Pop Douglas. Give me a T for trade or give me a P for pass. I would do it, but I have bigger pictures right now without a Patriots are playing in the schedule that you have for the rest of the year. Well, I’m not making any trade. I’m waiting for the off season when uh that guy in Philadelphia who has major ties to the Patriots because he loves the team. He has major ties to his former head coach that he was with the Tennessee Titans, AJ Brown. when uh that cat hit goes from 90 million to 49 million and he’s already disgruntled. He hates I personally think he hates being a Philadelphia Eagle. He’s already got his ring. Get him in New England. Get him for the team that he wants to be next off season. Get him. Just please. I would love to see AJ Brown over and over. And I’m going to keep saying it until next off seasonason. It’s not going to happen right now, but come May, we’re going to be talking about it a lot on this channel. going to get to the last two trade targets that I have for you guys. But first, I got to tell you about our sponsor of today’s show, and that is Prize Picks. You and I make decisions every single day, but on Prize Picks, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this season on Prize Picks, where it’s good to be right. Prize Picks is simple to play. Just pick more or less than two to six player stat projections. If you get your picks right, you could cash in. You know, basketball season’s creeping up on us. I know that they have a max discount on Steph Curry, but they also have a new feature. Follow other Prospects players directly on the app and copy their lineups in one click. Whether it’s a friend, a celebrity partner, or just someone whose picks you like. Hit the follow button and check out every lineup they create on the new feed tab on prize picks. Like I was talking about the max discount. I got a lineup for this weekend’s game. And of course, I had to use that max discount for the game. Raandre Stevenson, give me the less. We’ll talk about that later. But give me Drake Mays more on passing yards. 239.5. Yeah, that’s going more. So, you better you better go and tell that one. You can make a lineup just like that when you download the app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. The last one that are we have two more, excuse me, third on my list, and that’s Ardan Key. and it says linebacker, but he technically is an outside linebacker, but we know in today’s NFL that that’s completely moved to the edge spot. And the Patriots, they personally, in my opinion, I like what they have right now, but you need to add some depth. And Ardan Key, I think, coming over from Tennessee. You play them this weekend. We do not know if Arden Key is going to play. He’s dealing with an injury, but I think that he’d be a perfect kind of depth piece for this Patriots roster. You’re already weak at the edge position. They need a lot of help because you saw last week against the Buffalo Bills, Kay Leavon Chaan got hurt and then against the Saints, well, Keon White didn’t play and you’re already weak. You Anthony Freddy Jennings, you brought up Truman Jones, you have Elijah Ponder. You have Braden Swinson who’s still in the practice squad, but I think you need more. I like having two good starters and they’re not losing their spots in any way, shape or form, but Keon White is just iffy and Anthony Jennings can’t get to the quarterback. So, I think that the Patriots could really use some depth behind Landry or behind Chson. And Ardan Key is that one guy that I am targeting. No, I don’t want to go after Trey Hendrickson. I don’t want to pay him that type of contract, but he would be a great option for this Patriots team. But I think you could go after someone who’s kind of a role player being that backup and that’s Ardan Key. If you look at his last couple seasons, it’s not eyepopping in the slightest, but six and a half sacks. He’s played five games. He missed last week. He only has one and a half sacks, but six sacks, 30 tackles over the past couple of seasons, 42 in 2024, that’s someone who I’ve ob who I look at and be like, he’s a perfect backup. No, I don’t want him to be the starter, but uh I would love for him to be behind as that third guy on the depth chart. And the Titans, they’ve been taking calls for Keith. I mean, hell, they’ve been taking calls for everybody. The Patriots tried to call him up for Jarus Brownley Jr. and of course, the Jets beat him out and he’s playing pretty well for the Jets. But, I mean, you beat him up this weekend, they might be going for a fire fire sale. He also has ties. He played for coach Frabel in Tennessee in 2023. So, obviously, head coach Mike Frabel knows all about him and knows what he can do for this team. So, I think that he’d be a perfect spot for him. And also, the Patriots could be looking to trade one specific player and we talked about it on the channel. I know Adam Shfter has made his couple of trade rumors and we’re definitely going to be talking about that probably tomorrow, but Keon White, he’s been on the trade block nonstop and I really think that he’s not going to be a Patriot by this time next year, 100%. So, he’s been a disappointment. So, I’d definitely get rid of it. I I’d hate to say it, but obviously I’d probably go with another person. My last win on the list. I don’t think it’s happening. I doubt it’s happening. But I mean, imagine, just imagine Bree Hall and this team. The Patriots, they need the Pats need another running back. And this guy is going putting cryptic messages on Twitter, on social media, and he’s a great talent. And he’s stuck on the 0 and6 New York Jets. And in 2025, he already has 400 yards in six games. He’s on pace for a thousandy yard thousand yard season once again. The only problem is he plays three year in division rival and this is just not going to happen. I doubt I have my biggest doubts that Elliot Wolf could call up and say, “Hey, what’s up Jets?” And they’d be like, “Yeah, go f yourself and hang up the phone immediately.” Because obviously they hate they hate the Patriots. Everybody in that division hates the Patriots and they’re hating them a lot more because now they’re back in the lead of the AFC East. But the Patriots have a running back problem. They need another running back with Antonio Gibson getting hurt and just let’s be honest how bad that they have been over the last couple of weeks. You only have two on the roster right now. Terrell Jennings only had one single or he just was elevated from the practice squad. That doesn’t mean that he’s going to be on the 53. So I don’t have him on the depth chart, but you see on the IR Brock Lampy, Len Larrison, Antonio Gibson, those guys aren’t coming back. So you need to add somebody. The production has not been good. Trevian Henderson has not been what we thought he was going to be. Raandre Stevenson 1.7 yards per carry. It feels like he’s trying to be more conservative with the football and protect it rather than looking for the hole and looking for yards to gain. He’s like, I just can’t fumble right now. Which I’m okay with, but it’s still got to be better than 1.7 yards per carry. And then if you go to Bree Hall, 16 games, 944 yards, 2023, like 4.7 yards per carry every single year. You had a fumbling problem in 2024, but this year only one 2023, two fumbles. Yeah, please just put them on the Patriots. I don’t care how it happens, but uh they ain’t going to trade in division. They ain’t going to trade in division. It’s just not happen. If it does happen, I will come on this channel and say that I am cold, boldly, hard wrong, but I doubt it. No, I’d go get someone like Tony Pard, another Tennessee Titan. I think they’re going on a fire sale. He would be a solid player for the Patriots. He can find he can find the hole, and I think Taj Spears is kind of elevating to that starting spot in Tennessee. But overall, the Patriots, they need a running back. I said Damen Pierce or Jerome Ford, one of those guys. Just make it happen. Make it happen. Elliot Wolf. You guys name me. Name me someone that the Patriots should trade for. Trade for Myers!
you are the definition of let's brake the team over and over and make sure they never click even when things are going perfectly fine.
No d hop hell no
We need to go young star
I’d want Breece or Kamara, Henry can’t pass catch
Don't need Hopkins
No 👎 pop Douglas trade
F bills
Pass
Chubba on the Panthers if they plan on running with Rico /Olave or Ridley would be nice/Breece would also be nice/Jeff Simmons would be wonderful/keep and eye on Jedrick Wills Jr coming off injury to play right tackle backup till healthy/Chase young for Keion White plus a late pick/Budda Baker or Will Johnson from Arizona or Jonah Williams
F buffalo
Go pats
chris olave drop balls we dont need that
I’m a Gator and Patriot fan !
Was so happy that the bills lost last night .
fix the running game 1st before WR
Hendrickson would be nice
Trade for Joel Bitonio or Kevin Zeitler & move Jared Wilson to the center. Bradbury needs to be a backup. Also, grab Jerome Ford. All 3 will be free agents next season & the trade cost should be pennies on the dollar.
They don't need to trade for anyone. This is a rebuilding franchise. You don't give up premium picks during a rebuild. I understand the hype-train is out of control right now, but this team still needs at least two more good drafts before this team is a real contender. Good teams don't spend 250+ million in free agaency. They still have roster holes and depth issues that only good drafting will fix. Stay put and keep building. Adding AJ won't make this team a SB contender.
F Buffalo!!!!
I think we need edge rush and lb
I think they should trade for a offensive line man or a RB
P for pass here
OK… But how would you feel if we traded for D. Henry from Baltimore and AJ Brown from the eagles. Lol We need the RB and the WR would help incredibly. Just saying!
What about steeling Carson Steele FB from KC Practice squad
Trade for Jamar Chase 😅
kayshon boutte is a deep threat, and if they ever paly kyle williams he's a major deep threat!also, time to blend in chism into the offense-give him some snaps!
We don't need any more receivers
I would look for depth at the following positions in this order, RB, O line and Safety.
Get Tesla from Detriot, tall, freaky and red zone threat
DHop was a FA target a few years back and didn't want anything to do with being a Patriot. So, Hard Pass.
Nice hoodie! Not many of us Pats fans here in Kentucky
3rd for olave no pop,
I would make a trade
I’d take myers back definitely AJ brown obviously.. we need another back.. tht edge rusher from Cincinnati
P
No DHops F him he didn’t want to come here before what should be the difference No D Hops don’t need the piece of Dung
Am I the only one who wouldn’t mind actually loading up on draft capital to take Jeremiah smith in 27? He will be a top 3 pick but all it takes is an extra fist to move up
RB, edge depth, Safety, and faster linebackers in that order
Where the heck is Kyle Williams at did he get traded or on injured reserve or something..
Need lb spalline is powerful, but slow, would like more of a presence
P on pop trade. rather pop for the locker room tbh
Keep Pop Douglas
That's a good trade, later POP!
Absolutely trade
F Buf
I want to see Chism start as the slot receiver. He would make our offense so much better.
Question… Is this a list of people who this dude wants, or a list of people were actually linked to?
Linebacker and permittee corner depth. Would like to see Trey from Cincinnati
I think if you are going to swing big for a receiver then swing big and go for brown or depth at RB like Hall.
