Our president of baseball operations wouldn’t talk about Scoo’s future, and I understand why. I’m sure they’d love to sign a long-term contract. The question is, what is that going to take? I don’t think anything would get him to agree to a contract because when you hire Scott Boris, the object is to get the biggest freaking contract ever. And no matter what Detroit offers, Boris would prefer to take that offer to New York or Los Angeles and say, “Well, here’s what Detroit is going to offer.” I don’t think it’s possible to sign him to a free agent deal. It doesn’t make Scoo a bad person. probably doesn’t even make Scott Boris a bad person. His job is to do the best that he can for his client. I don’t know what’s inside Ter School and what he wants. He has said publicly that he’s not going to get involved with this publicly, just leaving it up to the people that do their negotiations. So, you don’t know where he is at. Scott Harris knows. AJ Hinch knows. I think they got a a decent young core. I love what they have in a minor league system, but you don’t know what those players are because they’re minor leaguers. to count on those guys to be contributors next year and be the difference. I think it might be foolish to do that without adding some other players, some some already ma major league free agents to the mix. Because if you’re trying to appeal to trick school and say, “Look, we know we have to be better. We know we have to add some bats to this lineup in order to make him think that this is a team that is committed to winning a World Series.” You’re going to have to do that first before you even give him an offer. So when free agency opens up 24 hours after the the World Series is finished, you you need to know where where they’re going. If it’s all done to appease a terubble negotiation and and there’s no guarantee you’re going to get that done,

  2. IMO, no pitcher is really worth 30 million/year, but the number is higher for Skubal. He isn't worth 30 mil/year to keep him let alone 40/mil. Contract would have to be longer than 6 years and that's just too steep.

  4. laughable, mang. Seriously, how many times are sports talk shows & podcasts going to get mileage out of this topic over the next year or so? Skubal didn’t hire Scott Boras to sign a team-friendly deal ahead of his free agency. He hired Boras to get into the market in 2026, and to sign the biggest deal he can get. Is there anything you’ve seen from Chris Illitch or Scott Harris that tells you they will be in the running to sign that deal?! 😂😂😂 Come on, folks – get real. Trade him now, or at the deadline, or just live with the fact you’re going to lose him for nothing.

  5. Skubal will be leaving it be insane to offer him big contract. First of all he was better earlier in season. And if I'm skubal I would want to play with a team that has offense . When Harris failed to produce bats over the season and especially the deadline tells me he trusted too much on his players developing doesn't care doesn't know what he's doing nah I'm not going waste my time with a nickel dime general manager
