Kelvin is a stud and has been playing really well.

  1. They still have some work but it’s coming together. Biggest killer on offense at this point is penalties. Run plays need a some improvement but I think it’s a couple of things. We’re not terrible at it though. Just a small bump is all we need.

  2. Banks and Fuaga have been good for the most part, but our interior pass protection is poor.

Our run blocking as a whole has been questionable. We rarely get much push on inside runs. Our outside runs are a bit better.

Looking into the future, we seem to have gotten 2 solid tackles that have shown signs they can be very good players. The interior of the line is where we have real problems. McCoy is still good, but Ruiz and Penning are liabilities at times, more so Penning. He is not the long term answer at guard. Ruiz is inconsistent as hell, but he’s better than Penning majority of the time. We need to look at a replacement in the off season, whether that be in free agency or the draft.

  3. Ruiz didn’t have a bad game by any means, but I noticed when he’s in we don’t run the ball as good as we do when simpkins is in.

  4. Run blocking is not great from what I can tell and we need to stop running Kamara up the middle lol. There’s no reason for that to ever be called unless we are up late in the game running out the clock.

  5. If we stop shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties and if the defense can get to the game on time we’d be having a completely different conversation about our boys. We just don’t have enough impact players to overcome these mistakes. But, we trending up.

  6. We are lucky to have the online we do probably top half of the league but I mostly watch Saints games

  7. I’m underwhelmed. Only because it was the one position group I was optimistic about.

Banks is playing at the level expected of him, maybe a little higher since he is on an island and not getting chips etc

Penning is not playing well. Tape-watchers have said so, I’ll defer to them.

    McCoy is great, as expected.

Ruiz has regressed, Simpkins isn’t the all star y’all think he is, Baldy’s breakdown even alludes to the negative plays. (But that’s ok, the man is a UDFA, he’s allowed to not be an all star!) But Ruiz needs to step it up from his roughhhh pre-injury start.

Fuaga is a question mark. He played poorly while injured which is understandable, but the injury seems suspiciously long-term. Hopefully that’s not the case.

Overall they’re not a disaster or anything, and I’d say they’re not even bad. But I expected good to surprisingly-great and I’m not sure we’ve got that from them. Yet. I’m open to them gelling throughout the season.
