I mean, AJ Visco, the law of AJ Visco is down on the ground uh in that uh beautiful, beautiful arena. Um last time we snuck on with the gear. If you remember, we had Chico on and then we went kaput because we ran out of power. And we had Ken Danico. We had Ken Danico and Chico down on the ground. Thunder Alley. Yeah, it was a good time. Um, but right now, uh, Devils are 0 and one, losing 6-3 to the Carolina Hurricanes a couple days ago. Uh, some negativity from Devils fans, but you’re just one game in, but we have a hand injury. It didn’t take long. Uh, Deonov out with a hand injury. Pot out of all people, is taking a spot on the first line. And I believe uh the new kid uh Zack um Mcuan I think that’s how you pronounce his last name. Um he is in I believe. So what that tells me is that Jersey jersey you got is still sitting on the floor probably to your lower right and you have not yet contacted Stitches about getting it done. Pretty much. Pretty much that’s what it is. I didn’t Venmo him yet. I didn’t go to the UPS store to get it packaged and sent to them or I didn’t go to the US postal service. By the way, it’s Columbus Day weekend which I completely forgot. So now everything is really backed up bank. Yeah. Yeah. So that so that means Potat’s going to be uh on this team at least through Tuesday. Well, there’s that four to six week period, right? Like it takes time for it to Yeah, it’s it’s going to take about six weeks. Yeah, but I’m I’m expecting something to happen as soon as you lay out your money. That’s when it usually happens. Yeah, that’s when it usually happens. You laid out your money for the jersey and they announced it, Sam. All you got to do is pay for this thing and it’s it’s good as gold with with the way things go with you. Yeah. Yeah. I don’t know why. I I just I know I know Devils fans don’t want to hold on to a pulot, but I kind of want to hold on to my money because I don’t really want this jersey. I think that’s the problem. Yeah, good question. Question of the day. Uh, let’s see here. Um, Ted says his daughter has school this Monday, October 13th, in her town. I think Columbus Day should be like a complete day off. I mean, the banks are not open, right? No, I don’t think so. No, it’s federal holiday. Okay. Well, there you go. There you go. That’s what I say. Anyway, let’s get to the game shorts. Uh last uh on Thursday, you know, there was a lot of hype going into the season that this team Yep. Uh what what were your thoughts on Marstrom? I I I just didn’t like that third period for anybody that third period. Yeah, third period wasn’t very good at all. I think Marx made going into that third period, Mark made a lot of fantastic saves he needed to make um and was doing very well. Uh that third period though it seemed like the wheels fell off for everybody, Markstrom included. Um and it, you know, it it was such a back and forth game. It was it was very much an opening game. It looked kind of sloppy all around. It was back and forth, back and forth. Like there was no real I don’t want to say there was no real structure, but you could definitely tell it was it was an opening. It was a an opening game for both of those teams cuz it just did not look very clean at all. So, it’s you can chalk it up to that first game back. You know, there’s there’s a long history of us not doing well down there in Carolina. Uh, I I know Chico has said that that doesn’t really kind of that the players don’t it doesn’t factor in with the players, but it’s got to creep in there somewhere. I mean, Doug Hamilton said uh I I can’t remember if it was before or after the game that that the Devils are going to have to figure out how to play and how to win down there. Uh because it’s going to be a place that they’re going to have to play again. Uh but it just it it was awful come the third period. Uh, I do like from all of it, um, the Devils were clawing their way back. They just didn’t roll over and die until the very end there. Uh, you know, every time that Carolina went up, you know, the the Devils are able to come right back. So, they were showing their ability to, uh, you know, kind of counter, you know, when they go down a goal and and to still play strong. Uh, I hated seeing Kayandre Miller uh score because he’s a former Ranger. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger. Always going to hate you. Um, and so seeing that kind of sucked. Uh, I don’t know. It It just That’s a team I know Vinnie was talking about it on Thursday that he’s starting to hate them more than anyone else. And that’s a team that just kind of gets they’re a pesky team. Uh Jarvis is one of the most pesky on that team, you know, and of course he scores. Uh I wasn’t a big fan of that Jarvis goal. It just it it it wasn’t a fantastic start. Uh but again, it was it was only game number one, so I’m not fully worried and and I’m expecting this team to get better. We’ve got a lot of new players and that has uh a lot to say uh about you know why they may not have looked great but overall I think they do have to play better uh and they have to put uh you know like a full uh 60 minute I almost said 90 that’s how much soccer I’ve watched today Sam uh they got to pull they got to put a full 60 in uh and uh you know win that game. I will say this because we’re going to have to move on the game at hand tonight, but things I liked the fact that they were trying to come back uh towards the end there. What I didn’t like was the Jack Hughes turnover going into the zone. again that low percentage, high-risk um backhand pass to literally directly to the Carolina player. Uh when especially when your goalie is out of the net and then that sixth goal was inexcusable like really you get you literally gave up. You don’t have a sense of pride, you know? It it was it they just allowed it to happen. Yeah. So, and the problem is and we talked about this on the morning woo. I don’t know if you’ve been listening to Morning Woo lately. I have not, Sam. I have to apologize, but I have not. Yeah, it’s it’s way early in the morning. But I know. But we’ve cornered the AM market, but on the morning woo, I forgot who said this that it just has the same vibes of last year, you know, and it’s a new year. It’s like what did we accomplish during the offseason? I’m not talking about like transactions. I I’m talking about like the the maturity of the team. It just seemed like it and we tal same old Devils, same old Devils and they they’ve got to shake that and you know we talked about you know who could that be that player now Danov is out so all right well now he’s out now with Palata on the first line I just you know it’s up to this team to make those changes like and I don’t want it to revert back to to just like mediocrity. You wanted you you made the playoffs last year. You got in the first round. Congratulations. You should have anyway, especially when you’re with that payroll to the max. But there’s just some there’s an element that’s just missing there and I’m hoping that they can just figure it out and snap out of it. Tampa Bay Lightning, they’re 0 and one coming into this game. I was just looking at that. Yeah. So, both teams are trying to, you know, trying to gain a win. But again, don’t panic if the Devils lose this game tonight because couple years ago they started off 0 and2 and everybody wanted Lindy’s head and look what happened. You know, you got to give us some time. Connor Brown, uh, Gritsick, they were virtually invisible in this game. like you didn’t hear their names too often or at all. And Palot, you know, and and Gritzaki, you can understand that’s first real NHL game, so that could have factored into it, you know, uh even though he’s not really like he’s a rookie, but he’s not cuz he’s been playing, you know, in the KHL for the last couple years. So, it’s it’s he’s been playing. It’s not like he’s a college kid coming up for the first time. But yeah, he he just didn’t seem to be there. It just it it’s that’s a real you got to give the Carolina Hurricanes credit though. That’s a real tough team to play against. Uh and and the game didn’t start well like that Taylor Hall goal was just that was going wide until he just got a got a stick on it and it def it redirected into the net. So it’s like the first goal against was not what you want to be giving up as the first goal against uh for the season. But I was just looking at at this for Tampa like they they lost to the Senators. Who would you I would rather not lose, but but what is a better game to lose against the car the Canes or the Senators? I’ I’d say if you’re going to this is going to sound so weird, but if you’re going to lose, I’d rather lose against a good team like the the the Canes than the Senators. So, you know, it’s I’ I’d rather not I’d rather not lose, but I feel like Tampa’s first loss is is worse than ours. I look at a different standpoint that it’s a matter of who’s going to respond tonight. It’s a it’s a four-point game if you’re losing to the to the to to the Canes versus the Senators. Um same but same for the Lightning. Same for the Lightning. Yeah, I’m talking within the division. I know. Well, I’m I’m I’m not even talking about, you know, points or whatnot. Okay. I’m just talking about as far as standings and and what what the teams are like, the strength of the teams. Uh obviously, I’d rather not lose. Uh and but unfortunately, the Devils lost and they lost to the Canes, but they got to move on quick, you know, and now they’re getting Tampa. You know, it it’s I got to imagine it’s tough to start three games in the road. Uh well, you know, Monday’s going to be a four-point swing. You know, I can’t believe we’re talking points already, but you know, here we are. But game at hand is tonight against Tampa. Uh, you know, the Lightning being 0 and one. We’re 0 and one. Someone’s going to win tonight and get their first win of the season. I I want it to be us. I want to see what the response of this team is going to be. You saw in game the response against going down goals was we scored goals. So, let’s see how this team responds to a loss in the game before. Yeah. And and la one last thing about Carolina. You know, it’s you start to wonder like how the heck did this rivalry begin? This is how it all started, right? It used to be the Harford Whalers, New Jersey Devils. Harford couldn’t make it up up in the Northeast, so they they they uh they moved, right? And remember that series against the Devils, the first playoff series where the, you know, the Devils were heavily favored because they were Stanley Cup uh uh contender versus a team that just barely got in the playoffs, can barely draw fans, right? Barely. This is before redneck hockey mantra. And somehow the Carolina Hurricanes squeezed out two wins in that series and the Devils had I believe had to take six games to beat them. If you remember, I I feel like my first uh my first twinge of hate against the Hurricanes was was losing in game seven in the last 90 seconds. But I’m going way way before I know you’re going way back. I know you’re going way back. But that’s where my first real kind of disdain for the team. I don’t have any other disdain for the Hurricanes prior to that moment. Okay. The point I’m trying to make is we had a reporter on that had been covering the Hurricanes. This was on a state of the fan address and he explained to he explained to because as Devils fans we don’t know but because you know Rod Bryindore was on that team that first playoff series he was on the fence of even staying in Carolina because you know he he was on the fence about it. But because of that series where they came back and they saw the fans for the first time actually get into it. Mhm. That was the precursor to when they won the cup in 2006. Remember Eric Hull? You know, all them. And Cam Ward. Yeah. And to the Kaniacs and the Canes fans, it was like the Devils were public enemy number one because when they first started get introduced to playoff hockey, it was us. The Devils were the evil empire. So, every year has built from there. Yeah, fans are just like, “Ah, we got beat in last 90 seconds. Ah, we got beat again.” Uh, I didn’t feel that way about that. I didn’t feel that way about that loss in the last 90 seconds, Sam. I know. I know. I know. A matter of fact, I think we destroyed things in the parking lot afterwards. Oh, we were not happy. We were just in complete just disbelief. Yeah. It was like It was like, “Yeah, let’s go to the MSG broadcast afterwards, you know, cheering like we won.” and you take that walk down and you’re like, “Wait, we lost.” Oh, but anyway, but yeah, that that was bad. But um Andrew Buunnan um if you can hear me right now, get your camera on because we’re going to get to predictions very soon. Yeah, I mean, we should probably talk about this game a little bit before we get to predictions because I feel like we’ve we’ve just been ruminating on the uh on the Hurricanes, but you know, the Devils away at Tampa. Unfortunately, we saw uh the Devils lose in Tampa last year in person. Uh great arena. Great vibe. Uh great everything down there. Was it was a fun away trip. I don’t know if there’s uh anyone uh not local to the Florida area down at the game tonight from up here. But, you know, like we said, the Tampa Tampa lost to uh the Senators the other night. same night that we lost to uh the Hurricanes. So that they’re coming off a loss, we’re coming off a loss. Uh and it’s one of those things where it’s I said it earlier, one team’s going to get a win. I want to see how this team responds to a loss, a total loss like they got on Thursday and not just the endgame, you know, go down and then score a goal. I think we have to score first tonight, Sam. I think Marstrom has to have a big game tonight, which makes which reminds me I should check my fantasy lineup and I I think Marstrom has to be uh a a key to a Devil’s Victory tonight. Question. Yes. You mentioned fantasy hockey. Are you in the same fantasy hockey league with Moose? I am not. Okay. I was wondering because I don’t know who’s I know Hans is in there, but I I didn’t know I didn’t know if you were or not because um my team name is Conspiracy Devil. Of course it is. Yeah. And I hadn’t played fantasy hockey in so long, but now now I’m back. Like I understand I know how to set my players, start my players now. You know, it was very confusing for me uh for whatever reason. Um, just uh looking at Amanda Stein’s Twitter account because uh I want to see if the we got the lineup. Uh Luke Glenn Denning is going to be in. I remember seeing that um because Dannonoff u is out is out but is uh let’s see here right now I got Mark Markstrom listed as playing in my fantasy lineup because he’s one of my fantasy goalies. Yeah. So yeah. So, if you go with the with the um Amanda Stein, she put out six hours ago. Uh I guess in practice, um it’s going to be Hughes, Brat, and Palot first line. Heir, Mercer, Meyer, uh Glass, Brown, and Gritzik is moving to the third line. Okay. Denning centering with uh Carter and Mchuan um on that fourth line. The pairings right now as we speak is uh depending upon if Peshi can go or not, but it’s Peshi Hughes. Oh, he took a shot the other night. Yeah. Yeah. Or will uh Chalowski um fill in? Don’t know yet. uh Seum Thaller Hamilton and Dylan Neich uh Marstrom uh should get the call and I’m assuming Vasileleski is gonna be in that. I gotta assume Vassy’s in that. I’m going to see, you know, I know exactly who has him on my in my fantasy league, so I’m going to go check that out now. Yeah. Um but yeah, it’s I and Vassie’s a damn good goalie, so uh the devil’s got to solve him and solve him early. Yep. And um you know they really have to the Devils have to bounce back after the loss and I I think this is going to be big for them. Like I said I I feel like a broken record but um you know um they just they have to do it and they have to show that they’re versatile. So right now uh we’re going to get your predictions. Yes. Throw them in the chat, please. As we’re trying to wait for Andrew Buunan to get in. I think he’s outside the arena. He’s inside there. I don’t know where he’s at right now. I told him, “Get your camera on. Get your camera.” You know what? One of the one of the wildest things last year we were in Tampa is I’m so used to being at at the Credential Center where you have to finish your beer before you go in. Down there in Tampa, you could just go in with your beer. It was phenomenal. And it was just you you walk through like no line, no nothing. It was it was such a great experience to be able to get get in and then you go back to the credential center. You got to wait in line. They got you got to take crap out of your pockets. They got to check it. Yeah. When we we have to get like It was the same way. It was very similar when we were in uh Vegas. There are so many better ways to get the crowd in and we just don’t want to do it. I I I know. I feel like um I don’t know. It’s the the way I don’t know the way things roll in credential center sometimes I’m like ah it’s a little inefficient especially near the devil’s den. Um if you want to see inefficiency go to the rock. Um I mean there’s there there were no lines in Tampa last year and there were no lines also I feel like when we were in Vegas. And if you’re not in line for to get in for the Devils game by 6:30, you’re not getting in before puck drop. Yeah, that’s a problem. And these places are sold out. By the way, when you when you mentioned Vegas and and and Tampa, we could have like a half filled building and I’m still waiting in line in like -15° outside. I think it’s the design. It’s the design. Like it I don’t know. I There’s just so much so many better ways that we can get into the arena and we just choose not to do it. Yeah. Um, also I want to answer Ted’s question. He said, “Are you are we doing the big stage on opening night?” Oh, at the arena. I talked to Frank the Tank at American Whiskey today. Weather permitting, there will be a big stage. Nice. I’d love the big stage. Weather permitting. So hopefully everything clears out by Wednesday night. All right. Thursday, it’s just probably going to be like 65° 70° F. So, the Devils really got to be in their agame to see Jack score would be phenomenal tonight. That’d be great. Nothing like a trip to Florida to make the boys feel better, you know. Oh my gosh. Trust me, I wish I I I wish it was down there tonight with you at this uh at this game in Tampa. Hey, sir. I saw you. And Andrew, who’s your cameraman? Is that Max? He’s doing a great job. Yes, that is Max. He he just came home. He went fishing this morning and uh he brought home a gator. So, uh, they’ve been skdding a gator all day and, uh, I had Florida and punch. That’s it.
