ESPN NFL LIVE | Dan Orlovsky MASTERCLASS On HOW Seattle Seahawks Are TRUE Super Bowl Contenders
Uh Seattle defeated the Jags on Sunday. Graz, you were in the building. What went wrong for the Jaguars? Seattle really just beat them up up front uh with their defensive front. Seattle so banged up on the back end, but they dominated with their defensive line. Jaguars were using a backup center. I’m talking to some of their people before the game. They were talking about the adjustments they would have to make, helping with guards, run more outside as opposed to up the middle. None of it worked. Uh Byron Murphy, Leonard Williams, that crew was just dominant. Uh and and just you pressured Trevor Lawrence into problems all day and the Jaguars could never get their run game going. All right. Only the Browns have allowed fewer yards per rush than the Seahawks defense this season. They’re allowing just 3.3 yards per carry this season. That would break the franchise record. And they rank sixth in yards before contact, second in yards after contact allowed on the ground this season. So, Mina, the Seattle defense means business this year. What stood out to you through now week six that you’ve seen so far? Oh my god, those numbers are beautiful. Oh, there’s so much to talk about. I I’ll say this. I just love the way Mike McDonald leans into the versatility of his defensive stars. And watching this game back, two players really jumped out to me. One was Leonard Williams. Yesterday I said he’s like the best defensive player that no one ever talks about. Watching some of the pressures and sacks, he was just lined up everywhere on the sacks. He was at three tech, one tech, nine tech outside of Nosu at one point, fivetech multiple times. McDonald’s just so good at using him particularly on overloads to get the matchups he wants and he is fantastic. And and then the other one, and this was new, Nick Evan Warary um the rookie who hasn’t really played this year because he’s been hurt. sort of a hybrid safety uh that they got in the second round. In this game, he was mostly in the slot, but they had him in the box and then he put him on the line of scrimmage and sent him as a blitzer a couple times and he forced incompletions. That is something to monitor going forward because his ability to do that. He’s so explosive is going to s like create doubt in the minds of quarterbacks the same way that Kyle Hamilton did back in Baltimore, especially when Julian Love and Deon Witherspoon are back on the field. Just a really really special performance from those two players. I was literally going to say he’s found his Kyle Hamilton and you just took it. So I totally agree with that. Um so you stopped the run on early down Seattle and now this fourman rush is something that offensively it’s a problem to deal with not only because of Leonard Williams but really all four of those guys. So it’s really the concept of like solo overload. What I mean by that is Nosu right now is by himself out here. Okay. So you have to ask yourself as an offense, do you have a tackle that can block him one-on-one? And then you get this overload backside of Leonard Williams, Demarcus Lawrence, and Boy Maf. So this is a problem offensively because if you think you can block them one-on-one, great. If you can’t, you have number problems backside. Now, this is what happens. What they do in these situations is they’re taking this internal picture and burying your offensive lineman. If you look at this right now, three offensive linemen for Jacksonville, blocking two. So, you’ve created one-on-one and one-on-one, but you’ve only rushed four. Then they get into that attack mode. Those one-on-one perimeter players on the outside or perimeter rushers on the outside win. That was in Wosu by himself. This time, Demarcus Lawrence to the right by himself. Can you block him one-on-one? And then you got Murphy, Leonard Williams, and Aosu here. And now, again, we want to create these internal problems for you to take numbers and then get those one-on- ones. There’s this internal game. How many people are blocking? Threeon two, but I have a one-on-one there. I have a one-on-one there. The Seattle Seahawks are taking this four-man pressure with this so solo overload and burying your numbers. This time, Boy Maf by himself, right? Boy Maf right here by himself. Murphy, Leonard Williams, and then Demarcus Lawrence. Can you block him one-on-one? If you think you can block him one-on-one, great numbers. But that’s a problem this time. Look at this twoman game because this is called that TE stunt where the tackle goes in the end comes underneath. It’s only twoon two because these three are blocking the those two. Advantage Jacksonville, excuse me, Seattle with their rush and Demarcus Lawrence. Another opportunity now. Boy Maf by himself. All these guys are playing these roles. Here comes this twoman game backside because we have three blocking two on the opposite angle and it’s absolute chaos in the middle of the pocket. the versatility that me is referencing of those guys all being able to play those different roles. Sometimes by themsel, sometimes in the internal game, sometimes in the twoman game opposite. This is a difficult defense. I think Seattle is no question because of their defense an NFC championship contender. They’re an NFL contender. It is violent chaos. It reminded me exactly like the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl. I mean, like that is how you swallow up teams and swallow up quarterbacks. I I’m watching that clip and I’m getting fired up. Honestly, I I genuinely am. I’m like I I got to go work out after this clip cuz I’m like I just want to run through a wall. I really do. I’m not lying. I’m not just saying it just for the sake of saying it. Like I I I am pumped, inspired, and motivated. I’m like, I just want to get after it right now. I mean, cuz it’s just it’s violent chaos. And when you watch the Atlanta Falcons take on the Buffalo Bills, it’s like, how did they fundamentally win that game? They made life miserable for Josh Allen. They made life miserable. Why did you lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? You didn’t make life miserable for Baker. He He was able to chill and hang out and do whatever he wanted. When you make life absolutely miserable for the quarterback, you have the team that you can win every single game. every single game. I I think in the modern NFL right now, the name of the game isn’t try to be like, “Hey, we’ve got to build an offense and so we can just, you know, win a light show back and forth. Let’s get after it these highscoring games.” We saw that against Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And any type of mistake, any type of mishap, you you you suffer immense negative consequences for it. When you have a defense as violent and as aggressive and is as deep as the Seattle Seahawks right now, the the the level of versatility and resilience that you levels of resiliency that you have through the roof. Through the roof through the roof. And that’s why I got to keep asking you Seattle Seahawks fans to please keep rising up. I made a couple Sam Darnold videos recently and there’s just not enough of y’all in the comment section. There’s just not there’s not enough. I’m still taking on so much because I keep saying that Sam Donald has been the best quarterback in the NFL because he has been because he has been. And there’s just still so many doubters and haters. And I need you to rise up. I need you to watch the full length of the videos. I need you to subscribe. I need I genuinely do. I genuinely need you. I need more of you in the comment section. I need you to rise up. I can’t do it alone. I made a Pittsburgh Steelers video uh the other day and they they’ve risen because it’s like there’s so many doubters of Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers and it’s just like this is what they did today uh yesterday over the last 24 hours. It’s crazy. They’re trying to one up what the Seattle Seahawks did uh a couple weeks ago. I mean it’s just they again this is what I keep trying to tell you. This is why I keep showing screenshots like this because I want you to understand the actual power that you have. It is all up to you to make this channel firmly rooted in this sports world so that when I talk about the Seattle Seahawks, you rise up. You’re there to comment. You’re there to defend. You’re there to be part of the conversation. That’s what I’m ultimately trying to do. And so I’m like, I’m I’m watching this clip and I’m so fired up and I just I just want people to see it. I just want people to hear it. I just want people to be part of it. I want people to believe it. No one’s watching these Seattle Seahawks games. That’s the most obvious thing. I’m talking to people in the comments section and they are spitting absolute nonsense. Absolute nonsense. And it’s it’s driving me crazy. It’s driving me crazy. I need the help. I need the support. Someone’s like, “Oh, you know, uh, Jackson Smith and Jigba’s been carrying Sam D.” It’s like, what? Their chemistry is through the roof. They’re balling together. They are holding hands and skipping into the sunset, man. They’ve been balling together. That’s the work that they put in in the offseason together. Their chemistry is off the charts. This is becoming an elite quarterback wide receiver duo. And and and every single day that passes, the Clint Kubak hire just ends up being more and more just an absolute home run. And McDonald’s got that defense just rolling. This is a legitimate contender. When you’re looking around the league right now and you’re looking around all the teams, what teams really truly scare you? And any of the other teams that would scare you, it’s mainly based off of what you’ve seen them accomplish in the past, mainly the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes, etc. But everywhere else, again, we just saw the Buffalo Bills, who were supposed to be the top team in the NFL, or the Detroit Detroit Lions, who were supposed to be the top team in the NFL, or the Green Bay Packers, who were supposed to be the top team in the NFL. We see them all fall. We see them all struggle. We see them at all low. The Philadelphia Eagles, twoame losing streak, getting rocked by the New York Giants. This season is wide open. Now, everyone’s gem diamond in the rough is Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And the Seattle Seahawks had that game. They gave that game away. They gave that game away. The Seattle Seahawks are a true bonafide top team in the NFL. And they are a top contender. They’re not just an NFC contender. They are a top team in the NFL. Get healthy. Get right. Continue to make smart decisions. Have your violent chaos defense. Put the ball in Sam Darnold’s hands. Get the run game going. Get that run game being more violent and chaotic as well. Stop going backwards. Please, for the love of God, stop. Stop going backwards. Pick a lane and just run with it. And this Seattle Seahawks team can be a true bonafide Super Bowl contender. I mean, they are, but they can prove it with their play week after week after week. It’s firing me up. I hope it fires you up. That was a thing of beauty last weekend. Definitely was. And now you got the Monday night game against the Houston Texans and that offense has not been playing well. That O line is not very good. I don’t care what adjustments they’ve made. It should not be enough for the Seattle Seahawks. It should not be enough. Time to get violent. Those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours. What do you guys all think about how well the Seattle Seahawks have been playing and Danowski dropping the knowledge on this defense as well as calling them a bonafide true NFC contender. But I’m I’m calling them a Super Bowl contender. We don’t got to reduce it just to half the league right now. But let me know in the comments below. I read every single comment. So whether you agree with me or disagree with me, either way, let’s get in some discussions. Let’s get in some fights. But ultimately, let’s just have some fun. And as I said, please, please, please do consider subscribing. And do not forget to give this video a thumbs up as it really does help with the visibility and the algorithm. Thank you so much. See you next time.

Thanks for the Seahawks coverage
Dan Orlovsky is my favorite person on espn. Dude is great at breaking down plays without sounding like a know-it-all.
Why do I have to listen to women talk about football?
Seahawks all day
Hey guys, Seahawks fans or not if Seattle gets healthy, keeps that defense locked in, and Darnold stays clutch, I honestly think we’ve got a real shot at the NFC West Title or a Deep playoff run . 💪😤🧐
Why is it that Nina, still, After all what’s going on after six games, who Nina cannot send Sam his flowers? I don’t understand why this woman is more obsessed about Gino Smith, fucking Gino Smith and Sam Darnald
I feel like we Seattle a linebacker to line up next to EJIV. I wouldn't be mad if they brought back Jordyn Brooks. He's on a 1 year deal worth $7M, and playing a a decent level. I know PFF is questionable, but he's playing better than Jones according to their grades.
He's still got sideline to sideline speed and solid instincts.
The Seahawks are a relatively young team. Young teams struggle to close out wins at times. They'll get better as the playoffs approach.
And, we have only just begun…And we are not yet even at full strength…Oh yeah and our passing offense is really good. If this offensive line learns how to run block together watch out.
just wait until everyone is healthy, they are doing this with alot of back ups !
I'm not interested in a week, to week ranking.
But it would be interesting to see a last season plus 1st 6 games of this season comparisons.
I'm guessing Darnold and Baker (two former Pathers?) Might top that list in Wins, TDs, Yards, Cmp %, passer Rating, ect…. I like to see redreads, do well.
When the narrative was predetermined so early.
If you wear your hat backwards "your a bum"
I think all these QBs succeeding on new teams is finally putting the Spotlight where it should have been all along (or often) ON THE COACHES…particularly the Offensive Coaches.
Let’s go hawks
Leo Jarran Byron starting DT
Demarcus Uchenna starting End
Boye Derrick back up End
Mike Jared 3rd string end
Deep Dline and rushers
Feels early still. But there’s something special. For… sure. Few more wins I’ll breathe a lil more for that contention spot at going the distance.
I been watching your content for a while and watch entire way through i even sometimes watch it a second so ty for the content
Jarron is 90 murph is 91
Enjoyed your vid. Seahawks STH’r since ‘87. Seen lots of highs and lows. Keep on keeping on.
Waching till the end and commenting, Go Hawks.
