[Music] Welcome into the Cowboys report. I am Tom Downey. Cowboys news, good and bad. Good updates on Demarian Overshon, the other notable Cowboys players, positive injury updates there, and what’s really not good news on Jerry Jones’s latest nonsensical comments and the support for Matt Eberloose and a little bit more. And this is not a one of the fake uh the DNP sports whatever the fake uh lines which are hilarious. Uh Jerry Jones claiming the pass rush is one of the best parts of the Cowboys defense. Seriously, here’s what Jerry said. Where we’re our longest, where we’re potentially our strongest is pass rush. We’ve got the most capable pass rushers that we’ve had. We’ve got the ability to really rotate our players. Look, this is obviously not true. I mean, like the the part of like having bodies is real. I don’t think any NFL person honestly evaluating the Cowboys go, “Yeah, this is a great group of pass rushers.” It’s not. You have bodies, Dante Fowler and Marshon Nean and Donovan Eszaraku and James Houston and Sam Williams and Denevian Clowney. But we don’t have to sit here and pretend like they’re all elite pass rushers. They’re not. Sam Williams, Dante Fowler lead you with 15 pressures a piece. The pressure rates respectively are 11.5 and 12.8. James Houston has eight, but he’s been very effective finishing those pressures. Marshon Nean doesn’t make an impact in the passing game at all right now because he did it like twice in at Western Michigan in terms of games and that was a huge concern for me. For reference, among all edges in the NFL, the Cowboys have zero players in the top 40 of pressures. Let’s not pretend like the pass rush is getting home cuz it’s not. The pressure leaders, by the way, are actually Oso Diggizua and Kenny Clark. Your defensive tackles have been your best pass rushers this season. Now, there’s a higher snap count there, sure, but the pressure rates aren’t significantly different either. James Houston leads your team in sacks with 3.5. And it’s Kenny Clark, Dante Fowler at 1.5, OSA, Sam Williams, Maris Leaf, and Marshon Neland. And that’s it. Those are your sacks. Those are your not doing anything in the pass rush. It’s just It’s just a flat Jerry keeps saying it all he wants. You might have like decent edges, three and fours. You don’t have a one and it’s showing up every single week. So, be honest. Grade the Cowboys pass rush. Don’t Don’t fall for Jerry’s lies. I’m sure some people will online, but grade the Cowboys pass rush. A, B, C, D, or F. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. Now, despite the defensive struggles, the Jones boys and Brian Shottenheimer are backing defensive coordinator Mattflu. Here’s what Shotti said on Monday. Matt, this is a damn good football coach. We have to perform better. But I’ve been him. So part of me being in the room is to help as an asset. Tell him I believe in him. I understand what he’s going through. It sucks. It’s no fun. We’re going to ride this thing out and we’ll play better. We really will. Look, the Cowboys in general don’t like inseason firings. I actually do think the fact that Shotti spent a little bit more time slash is spending more time with the defense this week is worth mentioning cuz like it’s it’s clearly one side of the ball that is giving you more troubles than the other. Hopefully that doesn’t lead to a trickle down negative effect on the offensive side like we saw with the run game being bad this past week. But the Cowboys don’t like doing inseason firings especially when the front office hired the defensive coordinator. I I think this quote from Jerry Jones is as close to the admission as we will get on Mattluse. He said, “That’s who I want in the foxhole with me. I still feel as strongly as I did the day I brought him in here. The things we’re dealing with here are not one, two major things. A lot of little things that we can’t get right the day I brought him in here,” Jerry said. That is as close as we will get to Jerry Jones admitting Matt Eberloose was a front office hireer when they agreed to make Brian Shottenheimimer the head coach. They handpicked the defensive coordinator. That is why a it’s been obvious from day one. It is obvious because they announced leaked that Matt Iber was going to be the DC the same time they announced they were hiring Shottenheimimer. There was no search. It was all fake. It was we’re hiring Matt Eberloose as our DC and Shotti wanted the job. So Shotti went along with it. It is not the first time the front office has picked the coordinator for the head coach. They did it with Kell Moore and Mike McCarthy. They frankly did it with Mike Zimmer and Mike McCarthy. This is what the Cowboys front office does. They meddle. That is as close as we will get to the admission from the Cowboys front office on the shot on the blue side. and they don’t like admitting that they made mistakes. More on that in a little bit. All of those comments, really all that Jerry Jones ever says really about himself and his or his team and his organization is all built on the same thing. I made every right decision. It is never Jerry Jones’s fault. It is always the players or the coaches. Never mind the fact that he’s the one who’s in charge of the coaches and he’s the one that’s in charge of the roster. It is always about taking the credit and shucking the responsibility, shucking the blame, and never taking accountability. That is all it ever is with Jerry Jones. I’m tired of talking about him. But the GM and the owner, he wants the GM title. He’s always talking. So, I feel the need to call him out for it as a result. Are you mad at the Joneses? Cuz I kind of always am. You know, they’re they do some stuff right. They they do good stuff. They’ve built a good offense, but it’s everything else that annoys me. Are you mad at the Jones Boys? FJB in the comments section if so. Demarian Overshon updates. Brian Shottenheimimer saying he thinks the Cowboys should be getting overshown back soon saying quote in the next week or two I would think all signs are pointing to the next week or so and I know he’s got some very very good reviews. I think we’re getting really close. So I interpret this as not like this week. I don’t we’ll know tomorrow if they do or not. I doubt it. I doubt the Cowboys will open up the window to designate oversh time for week seven. I’m not sure they would do it in time to open the window, week eight against the Broncos. What they might do is either in that week eight window or around the buy that is when they decide to start making some decisions. I wonder if given how hard Overshon works if they’re going to have that. Normally you see teams do it after the buy. I wonder if they’ll do it, have it open during the buy to kind of give him extra time to be in the facility and continue to rehab and work and fully get into game shape. That wouldn’t be a huge shock to me. I think he is going to be back by Thanksgiving. I don’t think he’s going to play before the buy, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s back for week 11 against the Raiders. I think that week 9 to 11 window might be the one to start monitoring for Demarian Overshow. So, predictions. What week will Agent Zero return to the Dallas Cowboys? I spent a lot of time on it this week. Your linebackers are are blind. They they don’t know what they’re seeing, especially 59. He he has no idea what’s going on out there. You need Demarian oversh. I think you need his athletic ability. You need his coverage ability. Frankly, his instincts are pretty good. Um, I I I’m tired of seeing Murray out there. I don’t know if Shamar James is developed yet, but I’m actually fine giving him more playing time cuz like he’s young. Maybe the instincts will come along. Uh, they’re probably still better than Murray’s are. I think everyone looks better really only in comparison to Kenneth Murray out there at linebacker. I also don’t think it’s fair to put the expectations of save the defense to Marvian Overshon coming off of another really bad knee injury. I do think we have to temper our expectations even though we can have our excitement level up. Some more good injury updates that I hope continue to be the case. The Cowboys Shottenheimer said they think they think it’s heading the right direction. Jerry Jones as well that CD Lamb, Cavante Turpin, and Tyler Booker could all end up returning this week for the Dallas Cowboys. Now, if you want all the latest on Dallas, including all that injury updates that we’ll get over the course of the next h, you know, around 24, 48 hours, Wednesday and Thursday’s practices will be pretty big for these guys. Hit that sub button so you don’t miss out. Hopefully, Lamb can come back and we can finally finally truly have the dynamic three-headed attack of Lamb and Pickins. I mean, Pickins has been great in the absence of CD Lamb. It’s been huge. It’ll benefit you for matchups when you have a really good corner on one side and maybe not so good on the other. It lets you kind of pick on him in a way you kind of couldn’t do it against the Jets, for example, though, of course, you still won that game. Lamb, I think, is I think there’s a good chance he plays. Turpin is reportedly suffering from the same uh foot injury that Don Bland was. Bland came back after two weeks, so I think that’s promising. My goal for all these guys, including Tyler Booker, by the way, is to give them a a a shot at practicing in a limited capacity on on Wednesday. If that happens, I think they play. If they don’t and they don’t get a limited rep in by Thursday, then I don’t think they’re going to end up playing. I do wonder how close Booker truly is. Um I thought Bass and Hoffman, especially in the run game, did not have a very good showing last week. So hopefully you can get Booker back and get more out of your first round pick. [Music]

Matt Eberflus’ job security appears safe, for now. Despite the defensive struggles, the Jones Boys & Schotty are backing DC Matt Eberflus. And this quote from Jerry Jones on 105.3 The Fane is as close as we’ll to the Cowboy admitting Matt Eberflus was a front office hire, not a Schotty-lead one: “That’s who I want in the foxhole with me…I still feel as strongly as I did the day I brought him in here.
