Tigers vs Mariners Highlights | 10/10/25
Winner take all in game five between the American League West champion Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers out of the American League Central as a wild card. How about this? For a story, Tarik Skubal who went to Seattle University one year ago against the Cleveland Guardians on the road in game five. Couldn’t get the job done. Not only is this a chance for redemption but a chance to do it in a city that means a whole lot to him. It does. And he’s had a very tough year this year against the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners have had his number , they have scored some runs. They’ve won a few games, three games right now. They have, he hasn’t won one game, but I’ll tell you right now against the other teams in this great game of baseball. 14 to 4. This guy is an absolute wizard. He’s a one of one. He’s an absolute ace and I’m telling you right now, he’s going to be fired up for this game today. And George Kirby who started game one for the Seattle Mariners team. Furious George, as he’s known, we saw the uptick and velocity. He struck out eight did give up the home run to carry. Carpenter. Carpenter will be the first man to face Kirby. Carry carpenter, five career home runs and 12 at bats against George. Kirby leads off a stress point right away. Carpenter Laces one. He will have no play and carpenter is aboard with a hard hit leadoff single just slicing away from him. But that wasn’t just on the ground that was about chest high , just kind of clanked right off that glove but carry. Carpenter smoked a knuckle curveball. The one on for Detroit that will bring up Blaber Torres that. Oh man, Allen Porter waited and waited and Then stood up and rung up. Labor. Torres Allen Porter is giving that to George Kirby and Then he can ride that high fastball off of it. Green Wolves went over to second picked up by Polanco. He will have no relay throw with the slide from Carpenter. They get the lead runner for the second out of the inning for Green who had the big home run to put Detroit on top in game four at first on a fielder’s choice and there’s two away for spencer tornel 12 pitch swing and a miss strike three got him. And right now that’s going to retire the side. A couple of strikeouts for George Kirby, Rosa Raleigh and Rodriguez to face the 28 year old from Hayward California, the Seattle University product, Eric s all he’s done this postseason has pitched 14 and two thirds innings allowing just eight hits , three runs while striking out 23. Little tapper s gloves spins, throws and it’s dugout by Torkelson for out number one. Nice play by Tarik Skubal as he retires arose arena now will face Cal Raley, the 60 home run switch hitting star pitch again. His eighth hit of this series sets it up for Julio Rodriguez with a man on Rodriguez who signed with Seattle at age 16. Waves and misses on that nasty change up s busts it out to get Rodriguez in the second out of the first inning. And that will bring up Jorge Polaco Polaco teed off twice against skubal in that second game of the series. But one swing and a miss got him change up down and away, took Polanco down to a knee back to back strikeouts swinging on the changeup. We go to the second inning scoreless in Seattle. Third base. Eugenio Suarez will lead things off. It’s harder to catch up on the outside when it’s floating down and away. Three straight strikeouts for ball all on the changeup. Here’s Josh Naylor, great addition to the ball club prior to the trade deadline, 20 home runs for the year 30 steals. Josh with an extra pace hit protects the plate and he’s in scoring position for Seattle in the second. This is all he’s trying to do is put the ball in play. This ball is well off the plate away. This ball is 6 to 8 inches off the plate but he just gets the bat on it. Emergency swing takes what he gives him and he places the ball to the left for a double. He lets sle provide the power and here’s Mitch Garber Naylor likes to bounce around out there. There he goes, there he goes huge lead. He’s going to third pitch on the way in the dirt to throw to third. Not a time. He’s bouncing around like a yo yo. Then he takes off. He was about halfway down the line when skubal came to the plate with a pitch dingler had no chance. He’s amazing. He’s absolutely a magician on the bases. He’s out, they’re bouncing around that disappears, he steals third, he’s safe at third base. How does he do it? Josh Naylor is on at third that will change up the defense. Now the infield comes up close for play at the plate. Here we go. 2 to 2 pitch. Gardner sends it off field long run for meadows. He’ll get there, but this will score Naylor from third and the Mariners strike first. And this time josh Taylor, you are amazing. And what an at bat by Mitch Garver, there’s hardly anybody who would even think to steal third base right there for Naylor. You knew he was thinking about it the second, he got on to second base and what a huge plate appearance that was for Garver, here’s victor Robles S gets another strikeout on the changeup and he’s sitting at 36 pitches right now. Naylor has been involved these last two games. It’s one to zero. George Kirby, he got two strikeouts the other five outs all on routine ground balls. Long Island miss kind of a wicked slider out of the zone. Baez cuts through strikeout number three for George Kirby. Sensational start the first time through the order for George just one hit. One base runner allowed the base is empty with two outs facing the line drive to right field. A base hit. He takes a slider into right field and he’s two for two. Carpenter continues to hit well against Kirby and he extends the inning to Glaber torres. Another win for George Kirby kept him in the That’s right. Carpenter goes 97 crackles over the edge. Torres swings through. George Kirby has gone three scoreless against the Tigers. We go to the bottom of the third. It’s gonna be JP Crawford in the top of the order, randy and count another 22 on and Miss got him with a fastball that time. First trip through the order, five strikeouts four on changeups, one on that 100 mile an hour fastball to Crawford all swinging one bar. Top of the order here is a Rosa , one, two on a rose arena out in front of a changeup and a juggle a helmet as he goes down swinging two up a two down for Cal Raley, the type of matchup you hope you see at the ballpark swing and a miss got him with 101. Tarik is dealing here in Seattle seven strikeouts through 11 batters, all swinging lefty hitter and Colt Keith, there are five of them in the Tigers lineup. Once again tonight, Mariners lead it one top of the inside and got a piece of Colt Keith lost a curveball that time to Kirby and he puts a base runner aboard with two outs in the fourth. The Tigers have to figure out a way to score some runs. They have scored a run in the first four innings. The entire series, all 18 runs have come in the fifth or later in this set. Is there any way you put this guy in motion right here AJ trying to get him. The two outs to second base can’t run, can’t run like that, not throw down to second. He’s safe. He tried two stolen bases all season. He was one for two and in the biggest game of the year, Paul Keith after getting smacked in the foot tries to steal second base. We have a review though. That is about perfect of a throw right to the glove of JP Crawford. And this is gonna be an interesting call. This is why Cal Riley wins Platinum gloves because he can make throws like this. That’s about as bang, bang as you can get, he’s out though. His foot hasn’t hit the base and the throw, the tag, the throw leads the tag right into the runner Allen porter with the ball. They were chanting MV P for Cal Raley, not only for his offense but for his exceptional defense. Julio leads things off for the Mariners. They hold a slim one nothing lead going to the bottom of the fourth inning. Skubal has struck out seven yet to walk a batter. Pay off pitch to Rodriguez who’s out in front of the change up. Eight strikeouts for Tarik Skubal. My goodness, this is what you mean by just pitching to. Here’s Polanco and he gets Polanco on the change up, down and away. He’s punching out everybody, he’s punching everybody’s ticket. That’s 123456 in a row, but it’s just taking him a while. It’s not 123, it’s 678 pitches, but he is punching out the world right now. Six pitches for seven for Polanco. Here’s Geno. He goes with a fastball up and in and he strikes out the side for the second consecutive inning. 10 strikeouts through four for ball. Mckinstry is an easy out. Number one brings up Dylan Dingler grounded out to short his first time up. Now, if Kirby can finish the job here, he would have given you everything you had hoped for and Moore two outs. Nobody aboard lefty bat Meadows. Otto 12. Kirby has given you every single thing you needed tonight. He has flat out shoved against the Tigers. Tarik Skubal on an incredible pace so far, he has struck out 10 including seven straight Mariners perfectly positioned as he often is as Parker Meadows that ends the streak of seven straight strikeouts for Terre Sel. That is a new major league baseball playoff record. Here is Garver. Garver goes down swinging on a changeup. 11 strikeouts for Scoville. Today here is Victor Robles two outs. Nobody on payoff pitch. Robles lifts one out to shallow right to his left as carpenter towards the line and another 1 to 2 to 3 inning tossed by Terre Sel who is keeping the Tigers in it. Six strikeouts for Kirby. One more batter to go. Here is Baez. He struck out in the third inning big spot right here batting ninth in the order with the top of the order carpenter on deck Baez first pitch swinging at a base hit to left center field over to cut it off. Is Rodriguez Baez is looking for two at second six. J Baez. What great baserunning. Julio Rodriguez had to run to the left center field gap and J Baez never broke stride. The throw was offline the lung from Polanco and Baez got around the tag and that’s gonna bring dan wilson out to ask Gabe Speier to get the next out. That is it for George Kirby. He’ll get a thunderous ovation. So Baez has put Detroit in position to tie the game. And dan wilson is not going to let Kirby face Carpenter. Instead, it’s going to be the lefty spire. George Kirby still hasn’t allowed a run in an elimination game last two times but is responsible for Baez at second. And this is why AJ Hinch put carry Carpenter at the top of the order for this moment to face Gabe Speer and still have an opportunity later And Hinch loves to pinch it, but not here is off the board and later on in the game will be a bounce against right handed. Pitching 1 to 0 fly ball right field deep. Is it playable? Rodriguez going back? He’s looking up and it’s on about it. Carry Carpenter Rivers, two run home run Tigers take the lead here in the sixth. Incredible have a night carry Carpenter. You can only hit George Kirby right. You got one lefty in the bullpen. They make the move gets that 14 seam fastball and just hammers it s at 85 pitches and it looks like the Tigers do have their bullpen going. Here’s JP, drops the hands, brings them up, swings the two swing and a miss 100 down and away. This is special to 13 in a row. Knocked down by this is it. You’re cy young, you’re going up against MVP. Let’s go show him what you got. Raley goes down swinging on a fastball down the middle and Taris pure Nitro to take down Raley and finish off the sixth one of the best hitters in the game against one of the best pitchers in the game. And skubal on top on that one, Kyle Finnigan has come on for Terre Sel and it’s Julio Rodriguez to lead things up for Seattle Rodriguez out to center field meadows ranging back and he is there at the track in the pitcher friendly park for the out Polanco batting. They pitch to Polanco. Here comes Geno Suarez in the air right field, pushing Carpenter back to the track and he’s got it. You saw the big sigh of relief from Finnegan two down and here’s josh Naylor who keep Finnegan close it. Stop at second base as Carpenter comes up throwing in and the time run is in scoring position as Naylor has his second hit of the night and the Mariners have life against the Detroit bullpen here in the seventh and now the chess match AJ H coming out for Finnigan. So the Mariners looking for it. Much base hit and now Moore chess match action. Tyler Holton comes in because the lefty Dominic can zone was announced as the pinch hitter. But Then Seattle counters with Leo Revo, the switch hitter who made his playoff debut in game two, but this will be the first at bat of his playoff career. Yes. Place has won to the score. Leo Riva is a happy birthday. Rivas aggressive in the county took a strike, found one that he liked, ripped it down the left field line, Leo coming through and everybody on their feet and now the go ahead run is Taylor at second base. A miss for postseason magic. Here’s Robles first pitch swinging bouncer to short picked up by Baez. He will get the out at second to finish the inning. Andrés Muñoz takes over right here against carry carpenters and right now it’s up to munoz to get him here in the eighth, hang a zero on the board and get the offense back up in a 2 to 2. He goes back to the slider and Carpenter takes it for ball four. So the go ahead run is on base and here is Glaber torres 3 to 1 pitch and he walks Torres to put the go ahead run in scoring position and it will be Riley Green to come to the plate for Detroit with two outs in the eighth inning. Green pops it up back of third Suarez out. He’s got it at the end of still 22 as Munoz gets out of it will vest pitched two innings in game one into the 11th, got the win closed game four and he goes to work and the Mariners have one out here in the bottom of the eighth inning. Here’s Randy Rose Arena and he got a piece of away. One is on base and the moment that they have been waiting all year for, with a chance for the lead in the playoffs. Raleigh out in front of that slider goes down swinging and Vest takes care of Raleigh two down and here’s julio Rodriguez goes down swinging on a slider. Vest comes up huge for Detroit and sends game five to the ninth tied at two. Andrés Muñoz facing the middle of the Detroit order and spencer Torkelson who has been Detroit’s best late game hitter over the last two months. One down here in the night, so two up and two down and everybody on their feet again and that will bring up Zack Mckinstry. He that’s gonna retire the side 123 go the Tigers. We go to the bottom of the ninth looking for some magic two up and two down here in the ninth that will bring up Josh Naylor the two one. Naylor ropes one into right field. A base hit josh Naylor with a winning run is on at first base. His third base hit tonight. The Mariners have only five hits and Naylor has three of them. Oh, he smokes that. Here comes Leo Rivas who takes over as the d after pitch inning for canzone who was going to pitch in for Garford strike three will vest freezes Revis and we’re going to extra innings in game five of the division series. So here is Belton tonight. A relief victor Robles will lead off the bottom of the 10th inning all tied at 22 has the winning run in scoring position for this place is going to go crazy with a base hit right here from JP Crawford Mariners looking for a date with destiny to win game five and move on to the American League championship series. JP Crawford breaks his bat flares it to second and it’s going to be caught by torres for the first out. Robles on the back at second and now back to the top of the Seattle order got him on the splitter that time and they are two down. And what do you know Cal Riley is coming up. They will intentionally walk Cal Raley and that will bring up Julio Rodriguez Rodriguez chops one torch short, Baez. He’s got it. The first is in time and the rookie melton comes out and forces this game to the seventh inning in game five. We go to the 11th 2 to the score. Mariners and Tigers winner take all game five. Logan Gilbert still up on the hill for the Mariners and now he’s got to deal with the top of the order. Carry carpenter going to lead things off. He’s been a problem that’s off the mound and into right field. A base hit carpenter. The go ahead runner is on base Weber torres at the plate. Carpenter edges off labor. Torres takes one and that gets away from Raleigh on to second base into the scoring position. Goes carry carpenter. It is a pass ball for the first time all year against Cal Raley. Wow. And that was the split by Gilbert that we talked about how great he’s been on it. That’s like a knuckleball. You never know where it’s going to go. And the fact you see crazy things in the playoffs. Torres lifts it out towards right. Roli is over. He’s got it. Carpenter will not move from second. There’s the first out of the 11th inning that brings up Riley Green. Riley Green will be intentionally walked so that Gilbert can face spencer Tokalon instead of the lefty Riley Green two on one out. The 22 pitch to Toral is Galton near to left Arozarena coming in two down one board again to keep Detroit off the board. Here’s Kke. Let’s see what happens. A 12 pitch second, Logan Gilbert lets how to yell the Seattle crowd in full voice. They explode as Logan Gilbert hangs a zero in the 11th inning. Well, here we go to the bottom of any number 11 and again, we’ll say it again and again, Eddie o’connor run will win it. Mariners and the Tigers all tied at 22 cater relief leading things off Jorge Polanco Polanco sends one out towards right center Meadows is over. He calls off the right fielder carpenter for out number one and now the Mariners have two down here in the bottom of the 11th inning and that will bring up Josh Taylor. He’s had a heck of a game tonight. He does grounds it to Baez down to a knee and Montero comes on and retires the side. How about a dozen in game five to the 12th? We go. Logan Gilbert is back out for his third inning of relief. He faces third baseman, Zack Tapper to the right side. Gilbert’s got a long run. He’s going to go, tried to deflect the ball to the running pitcher and it ends up being an infield single for zack Mckinstry and the go ahead run is on base in the 12th for Detroit Naylor tried to pull the Terre Sel and do the football snap snap it. This is a pitcher you can run on Zack Mckinstry, the Tigers best space. Steer dingler at the plate on the ground left side and through a base hit puts Mckinstry in scoring position. Dangler comes up with a knock and still nobody out here in the 12th for Detroit. That’s going to be it for Gilbert. He goes two plus innings on two days rest and Bazardo is coming on with the season on the line in the 12th inning. Inheriting two runners with nobody out Meadows shows it pushes it. It is grabbed by Bazardo. The second baseman is covering and Polanco holds on for the first out, but it’s a successful sacrifice for Parker Meadows, putting Mckinstry and Dingler both in scoring position. The Tigers have runners at 2nd and 3rd 1 out for Javi Baez. Baez breaks his bat hit to third throw by a two outs and a run erased off the board. We’re still tied at two. Plenty of time for Jato one upper right. Adam plenty of time to get the ball to cal at home plate. The old contact play doesn’t usually work as the runner at third history is up by a good 40 ft up at the barrel of the bat all the way out toward the shortstop. JP. In a huge second out carry. Carpenter has had an at bat every inning in this game. Doesn’t it feel like it? He’s in the line of place. I think they’ve got 1st and 3rd 2 outs and that’s exactly what they’re going to do. Take the bat away from him, take a chance and Torres and you got the righty on righty situation the way the carp has been swinging the bat. Don’t let him swing the bat intentional walk loads the bases. Glaver torres steps to the plate. No one to swinging a fly ball right field. Robles has the beat on. It comes in a few strikes and he makes the catch for out. Number three, Edward Bazardo rises out of the flames in the 12th inning and he leaves them loaded. Leo with a here in the bottom of the 12th inning. Now it’s Robles, uh toss the first away is headed to second base and the winning one is in scoring position. For Seattle. And now here’s Robles turns the bunt and he gets hit by the pitch, bunts it out in front of the plate, but he’s hit by the pitch dingle. The catcher gets to, it, puts the tag on Leo. But that pitch got him on the hand as he was trying to lay down a bunt. It was called a hit by and challenges and AJ Hinch is busting out the challenge here. Let’s see, that hits the bat first. It’s about as bang, bang as it gets. When you zoom in watch, he moves his hand, it clearly hits the bat and goes down. It looks like the angle changed. Is that what you’re seeing? AJ? It looks like it hit the bat and went down and hit his hand. Allen Porter, our crew chief at home plate umpire with the call has no in. So the evidence apparently not conclusive to overturn the call on the field which was hit by pitch for the Mariners have runners on at 1st and 2nd with nobody out and a chance to win this game five and send the Mariners to Toronto. Here’s JP Crawford. Let’s see if he lays down a bunt. Left center over is green. A step. He’s got it back to second goes Revis and there’s one down. I would have kept the bunt on. I’m sorry, I still would have kept the bunt on and here’s randy Ros Arena with a chance to win this ball game. The Mariners have had so many chances to take the lead and win this game. Rosa Arena back to Montero. Thrown a second to Torres. What a job by cater, Montero pumps. His chest looks at the dugout dugout. He rubs. We’re headed to the third and here’s Riley Green against Pizzaro Green on a slider. Swing two nasty fastballs in the inner half and Then just dove down to the shoe tops. Stratford got him there because he threw a couple of sliders way off the plate out there. You saw Toson tracking it stepping to the plate every time he strikes out the so back to back walks given up by Jack Flaherty and here comes to Polanco with a chance to win it with a base hit. Pay off pitch to Polanco we’ve done and missed on a curve. I love, I love that pitch. And you see how far out from Polanco is, what a pitch who’s going to win this game. And here comes Geno. Now you’re looking for a double play, 32 pitch on the ground. Two short bae to second for one first is his time. Another double play more clutch defense in the extra innings punch after punch, blow after blow, traded by Detroit and Seattle there at number one, there is dingler down the left field line that is a ball dingler on his way around first. He’s going to have extra bases and the Tigers have the go ahead run in scoring position in the 14th. So just like every other inning , yes, brings up Parker Meadows one for 16 in the series zero for four today. Successful sacrifice got and this is Vanessa Lee. Brilliant. Here comes Danny out of the dugout Baez due up next and we are about to see a third Mariners starting pitcher tonight. Luis Castillo. The Rock is coming on here with two outs in the top of the 14th inning with the go ahead run at second base. This game has had it all. Luis Castillo will make his first relief appearance as a major league baseball pitcher and he will face Javier Baez. Pops it up Naylor over, he’s got it. 14th. We go two down here in the 14th inning, 30 to Robles and it’s ball four, a two out walk to Robles will bring up JP Crawford with the winning running first. Flaherty’s 12. Robles goes pitches outside throw down to second. He’s out caught stealing for the second time in this series. Dingler cuts down Robles to send this game to the 15th. I mean perfect throw. We saw Raley earlier, we see Dingler here two of the best defensive catchers with strikes at second luis Castillo. He finished off the 14th inning and he faces the top of the order in the 15th swinging chopper to the left side. Third baseman Suarez has it to first for the second out of the 15. Here’s the pitch to Green swung on lifted left field foul territory Arozarena over. Will he have room? He does and he makes the catch in foul territory. Luis Castillo. A 123 15th inning. Tommy Kinley will be the new pitcher for the Detroit Tigers JP Crawford looking to lead things off here in the bottom of the 15th inning and to right fielder pace hit run is a board to lead off the 15 for Seattle winning run on at first base. Here’s Randy Ros Arena and it’s inside and Then hits randy hoping that maybe a changeup can induce a ground ball here from Polanco to try to send this to the 16th inning. Polanco with one swing could end the series 3 to 2 that you see it. It’s on go. They will remember this night and this game and that swing in the Pacific Northwest forever. Somebody finally came through to be the hero, Jorge Polanco. What a game, the greatest Jesus ends in the 15th inning with the longest tenured Mariner JP Crawford scoring the winning run. A 3215 inning epic. It’s unbelievable to see. I feel so excited for these Mariner fans. It was amazing. What a night, what a game, what a series.

Skubal did his job. You guys didn't do yours. Hopefully Skub finds a better home this offseason that's more deserving of his talent.
30 minutes is wild
Off to Cancun
Dan Dickerson said it best last night with a hot mic. "F*ck this game recap!"
Thank you Scott Harris for the offense. Another game wasted for Skubal because he never gets run support. Seriously, how can anyone defend Harris atp…
Thanks for blowing the season for us long time long suffering fans. Thanks a lot. Thanks for nothing. Way to screw us over.
Hinch is a MORON! Total collapse 2nd half of the season. Anyone who follows the Tigers…knew that the second Krap Kahnle got on the mound…the season was over. This Klod cost Detroit game after game after game since the All Star game…yet moron Hinch put this loser in over and over and over….until the season was over. Hurter and Holton suck too.
I know we lost but we have tiger blood 🐅🐯
Shoutout to Kerry, Skubal, Javy (to a lesser extent), and the bullpen (minus Kahnle and Finnegan) for showing up. Everybody else decided to take the night off. Four players 0-6, including the "superstar" of the team. Embarassing.
Great season, nothing to be ashamed of! I'm prouder of this team and last year's team than any team I have ever rooted for! They said you would lose over 100 games both years yet you made it to the post season and made the season fun! Thank you for the great time this year! 💪🐯💙
No point caring about this team until the illiches sell, a real org would fire both Hinch and Harris but we will probably extend both. I won’t be going to any games next year, I’m done spending money on these losers.
Hard to win a game when no one can hit anything
Great year guys. Keep your chins up. We still love you.
Carpenter man
How dare you post this video!! What a shame that this team couldn’t hit shit last night when Skubal and the bullpen was dominating. SHAME!
Pitch count is a myth. This team needs dan Campbell type players next season. Sick of these baby wimps. They have no heart nor balls.
Thanks for another wasted season pizza boy
Amazing game, two stellar teams leaving it all on the field, you gotta' love 'em!
15 innings and only 4 Tigers got a hit. Something got to change if this team wants to win titles.
Its honestly a miracle we made it this far….Oh, amd when Hinch rolled out Kahne to the mound I knew it was over.
The 4th best team in 2025 MLB. Not bad.
