Dax Kilby Season Highlights

  1. Among the 196 players with 80 PA in our Low-A league:

    – 7th-youngest

    – 2nd in AVG (.353)

    – 3rd in OBP (.457)

    – 25th in BB% (16.0)

    – 11th-best K% (13.6)

    – 1st in Speed on FanGraphs (10.0)

    – 10th in wRC+ (159)

He’s looking sharp despite it being his pro debut out of HS. There were plenty of other players who I knew more about and was hoping we’d draft, but I kept an open mind after we picked him. Clearly, our scouting department knows more than I do.

Definitely needs to work on tapping into his power, though, didn’t hit a single HR.

  2. He is on my list of untouchables

    Cam

    Dom

    Lombard

    Fudd. (Elmer Rodriguez cruz)

    Dax

I am not moving any of them. Dax is exactly the type of player the Yankees need to develop. Hard nosed. Super competitive ABs, “Hates striking out”, decent power but hits to all fields. Fast. Excellent defender.

My hope is that we see a Lombard SS and Dax 2B combo for many years. They are both long ways away but I will still hope

  3. I’m a little surprised how much helium Kilby has gotten in only his first year in pro ball

I’m not really used to Yankees first round picks popping off like this.

  4. A lot of scouts that I’ve seen talk about Kilby are already saying they fucked up their evaluations on him and he should’ve been ranked much higher as a prospect. Yankees scouting has been awful internationally but their drafting has been outstanding finding guys like this, Hess, Schlitter, etc.

  5. Dax Kilby sounds like a name MLB the Show would come up with when your franchise progresses past current players

  6. Grow strong young Kilby! We’re going to need you to look really good a couple of years from now when we want to trade for Ethan Holliday.

  7. Will be neat to see how he looks in a full year, really hard to judge a prospect in this limited amount of time after being drafted

That being said, my god it would be great to have a contact goblin like this
