Postgame Media | Brayden Point

All right, Braden, what stood out to you, good or bad, in your first game of the regular season? Well, giving up a two-goal lead at home in the first one, that’s that’s tough. Um, I thought too many turnovers. I thought we were getting chances, but we’re just giving up so much and I think um especially early in the year, teams that defend well are going to be able to get points and um they just have too many too much talent on their team to to turn the puck over like we did and they capitalized. And there wasn’t seemed to be much space for you guys from the second period on. Was that did Ottawa kind of change things on you or was just like was it hard to find? Um I think the game in the second was kind of back and forth kind of run and gun. Um in the third period they did a good job of and they’re a really good skating team. They don’t give you a ton of time and space. So I think in the third period they did a good job of staying on top of us and kind of outnumbering us in in their zone and not really giving us much and and we weren’t able to do the same. On the good side, the power play. It looked like the puck movement that you guys have been working on a lot during training camp kind of showed up on these games. Yeah, we had some some good looks on the power play. Couple goals. Um it’s been a work in progress and I think uh you know tonight for the power play was was a good step. Um just weren’t able to get it done in the in the third. Great. I know it was sour ending but just the start you know going from walking in through all the fans seemed like you guys were feeding off that energy in the first period. just what was the environment like for the home opener? Yeah, it was fantastic. Um our fans are so great and and walking in and everyone being here that early um to support us was was awesome and it’s awesome every year. Um and the crowd was electric tonight and it’s too bad we couldn’t uh couldn’t have went for him. The way he played, you know, there was question marks at least from us on the outside about, you know, only getting into two periods of action. How sharp was he? Yeah, he was fantastic. Um he made so many good saves. I mean, you look at the chances we gave up, it’s it’s way too many. and and he bailed us out a bunch and unfortunately we just kept giving them to him. How about Curtis Tuck’s debut? Yeah, that’s um you know he’s a he’s a big ad for us and um that’s two big big dudes willing at it and um that was awesome. It’s always great to see someone play there first and uh you know to fire up the crowd like that and get in a good fight that was that was great to see. Did you guys get some energy off? Absolutely. Yeah, I think the whole building
