Learning 2-3 words in french could scare them off so they will actually start playing for real. Otherwise Quebec city will gladly support them and the keybank arena could accomodate Padel tournament all year round.

  1. Get outta here. Western New York passionately supports this team as long as they haven’t been shit on for over a decade.

  2. just because a team performs poorly doesn’t mean they need to be relocated. that’s not the fans fault.

  3. The NHL will not send the Sabres to Quebec City.

Buffalo is a much larger market with a great hockey fanbase.

If anything, the NHL should have the right to force an owner to sell the team.

  4. Canadians sure have a hard time accepting that they’re not in any meaningful expansion discussions. It sucks because QC having a team was great. But it’s just not going to happen.

  5. Of all the nhl markets, you pick the one with the most resilient fan base lol. They have been supporting this team despite 14 years of not making the playoffs, why the hell would you move that franchise? At least pick one with a flailing fan base.

  6. Hey we may be upset at the Sabres right now but WNY still loves hockey and outpaces many markets in playoff viewership. This arena used to be full in the 2000s but when you lose for this long it’s a tough draw. I love this team like a father loves his most disappointing child, we just want better.

  7. I am all for putting a team back in Quebec City.

But not at the expense of the Sabres and their glorious fanbase.

  8. They will not do this and QC can get a team like everyone else, they aren’t special. Stay mad.

  9. A lot of it just the owner. He hasn’t spent to the cap in years and hires a bunch of nobodies to run the team while also having a skeleton crew in the scouting department. There also has not been a president of hockey operations who should be hiring the people to run the hockey side of things since the first year he bought the team. He basically runs its like a fantasy hockey team, meddling in trades and draft picks but just blows it every year. A lot of people forget the bills experienced the same thing for 17 years except he is not involved with football decisions. Shout out to Labatt Blue for getting me through it. The fans will come back if they ever figure it out. We have one of the highest US TV ratings for the playoffs every year because we love hockey, but when your organization makes all the wrong moves in the offseason every year and all the good players having NTC, how can you possibly get better having a muppet make decisions? Right now we have a GM who, prior to getting the position, had 0 years experience with hockey operations and a head coach who wasn’t allowed to pick his own assistants when he was hired. The league should force him to sell to a new owner more than move the team

  10. You do realize it’s still the same team and management? It’ll just be in a different city with less corporate sponsorship money. I’d be pissed if they moved buffalo, Toronto maple leafs would love that – it would solidify their already extreme monopoly of the market.

  11. I love reading these pipe dreams of “itll work this time!” In 3-4 years theyll be strugglin for money again, just like the Jets are, even with fuller arenas

  12. Plot twist: The move happens, literally no personal changes are made, same team.

They proceed to beat Colorado in the Finals in their first year back.

  13. To put them in a frankly backwater, Canadian, primarily French market that has far more downsides?

Buffalo is a great market. But the team has been sick for a long time. It needs change at the top to return to greatness.

  14. Why? If anything this provides evidence that Buffalo Sabre fans are true fans as they come back for the last 14 years cheering for a losing team. The Sabre fans wouldn’t deserve that.

A shitty fan base deserves a move like that

  15. I’ve never understood this logic. Because they’re terrible on the ice and in the boardroom ship them off to a new city so now that their fans have to go through even more trauma?

  16. If Bettman really is as focused on American hockey as we claim he is, he should force Pegula to sell the team to someone who knows how to competently run a franchise. I have zero investment in the Sabres, but this deadweight organization has gone on like this for long enough.

  17. Everyone needs to give up the dream of a team in Quebec City. It will not happen as long as there are potential relocation / expansion options in larger Americam markets
