HC Jonathan Gannon Press Conference- 10.15.25 | AZ Cardinals
injury news here. So, uh Travis Vocal is going to go to IR um with a neck. That’s the biggest update on that. Um Green Bay. So, um really good football team. Uh well coached. They got some really elite players on in all three phases. So, we got our work cut out for us. They’re well coached. Um they do some really good things. you know, they generate explosives on offense. Defensively, they don’t give them up. Uh they can rush and cover. They stop the run well. Offensively, they run it well. Uh and throw the ball over people’s heads. So, big time challenge that we’re looking forward to at home. What do we got? Travis going shortterm or year long? A year long. What do we figure out what happened on that play? Because the replay doesn’t show a collision or anything like that. Like he got pushed. Do you know anyone? There was a collision. is he’s got a neck. How’s Tyler coming along? Yes. How’s doing with the ankle? Pretty good. Pretty good. When you look at Green Bay’s defense, they’re top five in a lot of statistical categories. When you’re preparing for a defense like that, what’s the first thing you look at when they’re so dominant in so many different categories? Well, you know, I think uh who are their premier players, and they got a lot of them. Um and then schematically, um what you need to try to attack, you know, and they do a good job of negating how you want to attack them. I think they do a really good job, you know, the the coaching staff with the players that they have is to marry the front to the back. Um because they got multiple rushers that can win now. Um, so then in the back end they do a good job of making it hard on you, you know, and making you try to hold the ball and and it’s a tough way to go. So they’re playing well right now. What was the reasoning behind tweaking the practice schedule today? Uh, best thing for the team to get us ready to go for Sunday. Um, full tomorrow, full on Friday. How’s Marv How’s Marv doing with the concussion protocol in the protocol? He’s doing good. coach, how do you manage giving guys enough rest because they got pretty banged up this time of the year, but still meaning to get your work in out of the practice? Yeah, take it week by week. You know, everyone goes through it. Um, so we we adjust and adapt to what’s needed for each day really. Um, but feel really good about our week moving forward. Will have his window open this week? Yes, he’ll be out there today. What does his return to play look like? take it day by day. Bo, you know, hasn’t played football in a while, but he’s ready. He’s He’s fired up and he’s ready to get out there. You try to take something away against this Packers offense. Is there something you do to try and neutralize a little bit of what they do offensively? Yeah, I think you got affect the quarterback, you know what I mean? And and you got to get up and challenge those receivers because they they play the game in space and you want to try to take away some of the space and access. Um, obviously Josh Jacobs is a really good player. We did not do a good job stopping a run last year when we went there. Um, and really they’ve run it pretty much every game. I know they had the buy. They’ve played five games. Um, but they’ve they’ve run it kind of when they want to run it. So, big time challenge. With a a rookie who has not practiced since before the start of training camp, do you have to treat anything differently during this window than you would for a veteran who’s who’s just kind of coming back? No. How do you during that time when he’s off make sure that mentally he’s getting in all the work that he needs? He probably gets more coach him up. When you going against a team with a like a Parson’s type pass rusher, how does that factor into the determination at quarterback if Kylie isn’t as mobile as he’d like to be? Doesn’t. You better have a plan for one. When I say one, they’re number one. Micah, what challenges does Micah create that’s unique? Lines up everywhere. He can win everywhere. Um, and he takes the ball away. Is he in the War Daddy category? He is. Yeah, he’s a good player. How do you uh assess what what Will Johnson has brought in his four games so far this year? Yeah, he’s done a good job. I mean, he’s he’s had his fair share of mistakes just like all of us, but uh I think he’s improving every week. Um you know, and he’s working on some things in his game, but I I look forward to him to keep improving and keep playing winning football for us really. He seems to to get a lot of pass breakups or or even plays where he kind of arrives right at the right spot and it’s the guy that’s not typically a breakup. What is it about him that enables him to make those type of plays? Alignment, assignment, key technique. Where’s his learning curve been as a rookie? Fast. He’s smart. With Baker on a play like he had last week where it could have been an interception, but he still gets his hand on the football. Is that a situation where you’re when you see him on the sideline, you’re still complimenting him because he got the pass breakup or are you more frustrated that he didn’t reel it in? There’s nobody harder on uh the players than the players. Um, so I know he wanted to make that, but it was still a really good play, but uh I want to see him make it. Coach, how do you feel about the play of the fourth quarter? I guess we’ve had a few games now where that fourth quarter is kind of falling apart offensively and defensively. Play better football for 60 minutes. Coach, last year you guys were a heavy cover three team. I think that showed you’re heavy cover four team. I’m just interested why you guys kind of made that switch. Maybe some of the benefits you see probably who we’re playing, you know, um that goes into that where you want to play coverage structure-wise. Um we made some tweaks to cover three this year, too. But, uh you know, it that’s a that’s a good question, Donnie. It’s a it’s a long-winded answer. I think whatever you’re playing, doesn’t matter what you’re playing. Um I’d like to see an uptick of execution uh in the back end. Uh and that’s everybody collectively, you know what I mean? So, uh, we got a couple staples and then get to them different ways and, um, but depending on who you’re playing really goes into the, you know, what you’re kind of leaning on. But I always said if you’re, you kind of got one shell that’s the staple going into the week and you want to mix two other ones. You got one post close, you want to mix two other ones, you know. So, uh, we played I think the one of the ways to affect the quarterback is not just play a couple coverages. So, we try to be multiple in that aspect. Um, I’d like to see us play him a little bit better. What’s the third to return? He’ll be out there today. Gareth, um, he’s doing well. He won’t be out there this week, but he’s doing well. What boxes would you like to see Kylie check this week? Make sure that he’s healthy enough to play, you know, so we’ll progress him along here this week and see where he’s at. Coach, how early in your career did you have to start uh trying to figure out how to take the emotion out of coaching as far as when you when you have all these injuries and you have all these different pieces? When’s the first time that you can recall it? 2007 when our quarterback went to jail.

GB defense is trash, had them in fantasy always low scoring lol
Way to end that video @arizona cardinals – sheesh, who's sitting in that editing chair. For context JG is referencing when Michael Vick was arrested for his involvement in a dog fighting ring. JG was a defensive coach for the Falcons at the time (his first NFL coaching gig). Interesting that he'd throw that nugget out there in light of Kyler's recent social media blunder involving Vick's jersey and Kyler's pitbull.
Hope Nolan comes back better than Darius Robinson
The D was upgraded to stop the run. Thus far, AZ's run D is poor.
