Coach Daboll Previews Week 7 vs. Broncos | New York Giants
A couple days off and on to the Broncos. Coach Payton, tremendous football team, four and two. Just had a tough game overseas as they start with their defense with Vance Joseph. It’s really playing incredible football right now. Pressure in the quarterback, first in the red zone, first and third down. play a variety of things with a lot of really good players, the best defenses in the league, coached well, they’re tough to block, and they just tell the team to under 90 yards offense. So, tremendous challenge with that defense. Coach Payeyton on the offensive side, won a bunch of games in this league, really a good offense scheme. Bo Nicks has done a good job with him. Four talented receivers, different tight end groupings. Dobbins who can take it the distance, another rookie running back, productive, do a lot of different things, runwise, bootlegs, screens, you know, you name it, they have it. And then, uh, Coach Rzzy, um, New Jersey native, known him for a long time, veteran coaching staff. four and two at their place be a good challenge in terms of injuries. So, we’ll see where Slay’s at. He may or may not do something today. He’s getting better. He might be off to the side. We’ll see here in a few minutes. Falls won’t practice. Boseman won’t practice. JMS is in concussion protocol. and we’re gonna open the window window for uh Victor Dimuki. You mentioned that Denver defense. Have you ever seen a an outing like they just had with the negative 10 net passing out? Uh it’s they’re impressive. I mean they’re impressive every game. Um they create a lot of negative plays and have 30 sacks in six games. That was nine last week I think. But um they rotate guys, but Ubonito is a an unbelievable pass rusher. You can’t have a plan for all of them and they all can rush. I think 12 guys have at least a sack on their defense. They got the reigning defensive player of the year as a corner, Certan Alabama guy. They’re just they’re just really good. They play good coverage, complimented with the front. They disguise well. It’s I mean they’re they’re as good as it gets right now. You just you you just rattled off uh some of their coaches. Their quarterback’s coach is a mentor protege of yours. Do you see some of what you taught Davis showing up there? And how quickly did you know he was going to be a bright star in coaching? Uh I I would just say, you know, I’ve known Davis for a long time. He was a pleasure to work with. incredibly smart, you know, can see the game the right way. You know, he’s always primarily been the backup quarterback, but offered a lot of good insight in those meetings. Someone I have a great deal of respect for working with him, you know, player coach, but now on on the coaching side of it, you know, I’m proud of the proud of him for, you know, not a lot of guys just do that and jump right in and become a quarterback coach. and he’s done a great job with Bo. But, you know, this is Coach Payton’s offense. Um, you know, Coach Payton’s a got 180 plus wins, Super Bowl. I mean, the go on and on. But, but Davis, um, you know, was one of my favorite guys that I had to work with in my time at Buffalo and here, and he’s doing a great job. Brian, it seemed like Denver really took advantage a week ago with the uh a quarterback that was holding the ball a little longer and and they they were able to get to him and bring him down a lot. We’ve seen Jackson at different points hold the ball longer as well to give his guys time to get it down. But against a defense like this, is there an added point of emphasis this week in practice to get the ball in your hands? Like this is maybe not necessarily a team that you can dance around with a little bit. Yeah, I think you got to play good team football all the way around. Defense got to complement the offense. special teams. I mean, this is a team that’s that’s four and two for a reason. Everybody’s got to do their job. Whether it’s quarterback, whether it’s, you know, interior part of the pocket, whether it’s receivers getting open against tight press coverage, against some really good corners, it’s going to take a total team effort. But they’re very productive, make mistake. They do that to a lot of teams. I would say that watching the tape, um, they’re hard to block. You have to do a good job of creating some positive plays. you get in those bad situations. It’s they’ve made every team they’ve played, you know, in those situations, not a lot of third down conversions and there’s a lot of third and longs when you watch the tape. Um, not a lot of touchdowns in the red zone. There’s they play really good team defense. You know, Vance has done a great job, you know, for a long time back in Miami, Arizona. We were at against them in Buffalo. Um, you know, they’re well coached. They got a lot of good players. They put you in bad situations. It’s hard. And then you’re on the road with a loud environment. We’re going to have to play good team football all the way around. You guys have scored a touchdown on three straight opening game possessions. Um, which hadn’t happened since 2009 for the Giants. Uh, what do you attribute that to? And people make a lot about like scripting the first x number of plays and whatnot. What do you the early game success, the early touchdown drive? what do you attribute that to and um how much of a difference has that made for you guys? Yeah, you always want to get off to a fast start and the preparation that these guys put into it and the coaches that’s important. There’s you give a lot of credit to the players that are out there doing it, making plays. Um I think last week we converted on a third and eight and third and 12 or somewhere around there. Some of the other ones we haven’t had many third downs or they’re third and one, third and two. It’s really 11 people doing their job. at the level you need him to do your job at. That goes with any drive. I know it’s the opening drive, but that really goes offensive football. Any drive you have 10 guys doing the right thing and one guy not, it could be a recipe for a very bad play. Um, so we’re just focused on trying to do our job the best we can. The energy around the team like Jackson outside the building from, you know, inserting Jackson, the energy, I’m sorry, where with the building, the energy around the team from outside the building seems different, right? with Jackson as a starter winning two of the last three games. What have you seen from the guys the last few days inside the building since they’ve sort of returned from the as usual? You know, we have a very tough team to get prepared for. Look, you only have a certain amount of time and nothing really changes, Jordan, relative to preparing for a team, you know, meeting wise, film study, walkthroughs. Uh, you know, we adjust here and there whether we want to do some more red zone today or third down or do this, but focused and, you know, we got a big challenge ahead of us and all these guys are doing everything they can do to put themselves in in a good position for for Sunday. Daves, if uh you’ve got JMS in protocol, if Schlaughman has to play, you know, how confident are you in him and what did you see from him last week when he had to step in? Yeah, confident in all the guys we have. That’s why they’re here. So he did, you know, what he needed to do, which was come in and and operate at center for us and and did a nice job. So he’ll get all the reps today. Has he made progress JMSs? Like to the point where he’s in the protocol. Is he is he going to be out here like running around and doing stuff or he’s in the protocol? So that’s where he’s at. And with Russell, is Russell still your backup quarterback? Yep. Why? He’s our backup quarterback.

Hopefully they can make a comeback this season. I have faith.
Tougher game than the eagles for
“Is Russ still the backup and why” what a horrible question
I don't care about Darius practicing or getting on the field because he sucks balls. He is not a game changer and he does not get open nor does he catch any meaningful balls when it matters. Keep him where he is.
Are we getting obj
Love you guys were going to the Superbowl I know !! I've always believed in you guys❤❤
I think they think that lol he’s gone down hill for sure
I hope we have an aggressive game plan on defense and blitz more than we have been.
Really cut out on that last question 🤦🏻♂️
He is happy his job was saved for another week😂😂
Totally new NFL fan from here in the UK. I’ve done a little research on which team to go with and I’ve landed on the Giants. What am I in for? What seasons should I go watch through historically? Why do I already not like the Eagles?
You can tell Dabes really does not like some of these reporters lol
I came here for the negative comments from the miserable supportive giant fans
Dart out there making it happen with practice squad wr’s 😂 💯
The Broncos held the Jets to 190 yards of offense… And what does that matter? It doesn’t.
The last 2 questions were terrible. Reporters need to be better
Who wins big blue? Giants or Broncos
