After 2 years as manager of the Padres, Shildt is retiring. My friend, it hurts if losing hurts. The fact that Mike is gone also adds insult to injury. I knew someone would end up falling, but I didn't expect this. I understand the fact that we didn't always agree with his decisions, but the guy ,He always stood up for the boys, he was willing to go for Dave Roberts' neck, I hope he does well and I wish him luck.
In the meantime, I'm curious to know what options we have as a manager and what the future holds for the team.

  1. Schildt is the wrong scapegoat. He had two years left on his contract, so I have to assume he was pushed out.

  2. Still feels shocking to me every time I read the headline. So not expecting Schildt to retire. Hope he enjoys a less stressful life in his retirement. I can’t imagine what an MLB manager goes through.

  3. Congratulations and enjoy your retirement (or next gig if you come out of retirement). Thanks for 2 fun and successful years, for your positivity, and for standing up for your players and fans!

  4. Unbelievable 2 year tenure. The only thing that kept him from a WS last year was an ice-cold offensive spell at the worst time. Thank you, Shildty. You were a breath of fresh air after 2023.
