🚨Miami Heat Make A Roster Move🚨

The Miami Heat made a roster move during the NBA preseason on Tuesday afternoon and we’re here to break it down on today’s show. I am Nick Rolloff. This is the Heat Report by Chat Sports. It was a signing and it should be a familiar name for some Heat fans at home. It was Steve Settle III. They signed him to an Exhibit 10 contract. Why should you remember this name? Well, we’ll dive into his history with the Miami Heat, but he was on the summer league team this summer in Las Vegas when the Heat were playing in the California Classic as well as the Standard Summer League. But this is why you subscribe to the channel because we cover all Miami Heat roster moves. We’ll be live for the season opener a week from today, October 22nd. Magic Heat tips off the regular season. We also have Heat Rumors where we have 42 subscribers to go until 24,800. Hit that sub button. Join the channel for daily heat content and let’s get to 25K before that opener next week. All right, so let’s get into Steve Settle the third here. He went to Temple, actually originated playing for Howard University, transferred to Temple where he played pretty well for the Owls this past season. Was on the summer league squad this summer for Miami. He’s 24 years old. He’s got great size to him, 610, 192. Shot really efficient this season at Temple, which garnered him some NBA looks and actually had a really solid pre-draft process, which almost was able to get him to that end of the second round. Ultimately went undrafted where the Miami Heat picked him up relatively quickly. Now, he was not impressive during the summer league. appeared in five games. Three in Las Vegas, two in the California Classic, and you see the numbers on screen. It was very, very ugly. And I’ll be honest, like I remember when the Heat signed him to an exhibit 10, I was kind of intrigued by him due to his size. And you watched his film at Temple and you’re like, “Okay, this is a 610 wing that moves pretty well. High release point. It’s almost like the T-Mu version of KD over at Temple. Well, he never really did anything for the summer league squad. You didn’t even know he was playing half the time when he was on the court. He was pretty non-existent, but Miami clearly liked something with Settle that they saw this summer to bring him back and ultimately keep him in the organization. Settle actually dropped a quote after being signed says, “The opportunity to be a small piece of such a storied organization is something I don’t take for granted. I think my skill set as a taller, versatile wing is something that can and has benefited greatly from my time with the Heat so far. I am nowhere near a finished product, but I am so encouraged by how much I’ve grown as a player in just a few short months. This is just the beginning for me, and I’m looking forward to my continued development in the G-League with the Sou Falls Sky Force. I cannot wait to see what the future holds. And you heard him in that press release say excited to play for the G-League in the Sou Falls. Well, that is the plan for him. The signing is an exhibit 10 as I mentioned off the top and they brought him back in just to keep him with this GLeague roster. Miami will do that with a couple of other players as well. They’ll want to see more of Steve Settle this year into Sou Falls. Well, they made a signing, so they had to make a corresponding move since Miami has been at the maximum 21 players on their preseason roster. The corresponding move was waving Gabe Madson, the guard/forward, who they signed just a week ago to an exhibit 10 contract. We covered that as well, which is why you need to subscribe. Madson uh played for Utah last season in college and well he appeared in a couple preseason games for Miami this past week against the Magic and the Hawks. He played in 29 minutes where he logged nine points, five boards, four assists, and struggled with his shot, which is the more concerning part of Madson because he was labeled as a three-point marksman. And I even went to the length of saying I’m intrigued by keeping him around potentially long term because he did display elite three-point shooting ability during the summer league, which we’ll show his numbers here in just a second. But similar to Steve Settle, the Miami Heat will try to retain Madson. Yes, they waved him, but according to some reports and rumors out there, the goal is to try to get Gabe to the Sou Falls roster for the G-League this upcoming year, which is something I really want the Heat to do because I mentioned it. He displayed a lot of shooting talent in the summer league this year. Now, this was not on the Miami Heat roster. He was playing for the Golden State Warriors. He was actually their fourth leading scorer playing in 13 minutes a game, shooting 58% from three and 60% from the field during the Las Vegas summer league. Madson played extremely well. And we have seen the Heat time after time after time develop good three-point shooters. Caleb Martin developed into a good three-point shooter. Duncan Robinson, Max Drews, UDFAS that are able to stick around in the NBA because of three-point shooting or an improved ability to shoot the three. Well, Madson already is profiled as a good three-point shooter. Can the Heat in their GLeague develop him into a player like a Struce, like a Duncan Robinson? We’ll see. But you let might laugh at that statement. But we saw where Max Streus and Duncan started. They both started as older players out of college in the G-League, got a chance to win the NBA and flourish and now are making 15 plus million dollars per season. Am I going to project that for Matson? No. I’m just saying there is a possibility the Heat can do this if they keep him in their system. More coming here, but this episode is brought to you by Prize Pix. You and I play Prize Pick every day and you and I make decisions every single day. Okay. Well, the right decisions on prize picks can get you paid. It’s so easy. You just pick more or less and at least two player stats. If you get your picks right, you could cash in. Week away from the regular season getting tipped off. And Price now offers stacks, meaning you can pick the same player up to three times in one entry. You can do a Heat player. You can do a player like Steph Curry. You go more than on points, assist, three-pointers made. All in one lineup only on prize picks. But before the season gets tipped off next week, we have another week in football and I’ll go less than AJ Brown receiving yards, more than Cam Scataboo touchdowns, and more than Sam Darnold passing yards. That is my three player entry there. Download the prize picks app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Price fix. It’s good to be right. We’re going to segue from the roster moves that Miami made. So, now some other news. And we did cover this last week as well, but Eric Spolstro was named the next Team USA basketball coach for the Olympics in 2028, replacing Steve Kerr. We covered that in a short last week, but it was made official on Tuesday afternoon. Team USA did a whole media roll out with video interviews, quotes, highlights of Eric Spolster’s career, some photos, and I gotta be honest, this just fires me up, man. Eric Spolstra, in my opinion, is without a doubt the best coach in all of basketball. No matter what age level you go to, collegiate, professional, overseas, doesn’t matter. Spolsters the best. the NBA believes. So, in a recent poll put out there by media members and um GMs and other coaches, Folster was named the best coach in the NBA. This is no surprise here. I can’t stand when some Heat fans take him for granted and bash him in the comments. Does he make every decision perfect? Absolutely not. But he does what he does better than anyone else. So, I can’t stand hate of Eric Spolster sometimes. I’m glad he’s going to be coaching at Team USA, representing the Miami Heat, and representing our country because listen, if we’ll be honest, it’s going to be more and more difficult for United States to remain as the top basketball country in the world. Just last year or two years ago when we play in the Olympics, it wasn’t the easiest time. We had to make a comeback against Serbia. We had to barely hold off France in the title game. France is only getting stronger with Wemmenyama’s descendants and other NBA players like Balakuli. Um, and they are continuing to have more NBA talent every single year. And I’m happy for Spo for him to get the recognition he deserves as the best coach that this country in this world has to offer. This also has another benefit for the Miami Heat. I’ll get to here in a second. But I want to send some love to Coach Spo. Type your C’s for congratulations to Spo for becoming the next Team USA basketball coach. I’m fired up. I’m sending my congrats. There is another reason I wanted to talk about this though. A sneaky reason why this is huge for Miami. This is absolutely another way for Eric Spolra to potentially recruit players to the Miami Heat. Now, is he going to do it directly? No. That’s kind of illegal. It’s called tampering. But if he is coaching the best players that this country has to offer, those players may come to the conclusion on their own merit that he is the best in the business for a reason. And if they want to potentially be coached by the best to be playing at the highest level and winning an NBA championship, well, maybe I want to work my way to Miami. We’ve already seen some seeds kind of planted to one of the best young players in the NBA, Anthony Edwards. Anthony Edwards during training camp in the ramp up to the 2024 Olympics mentioned how awesome it’s been to be coached by Eric Stroll Bolstro saying he’s been dope, bring a lot of energy. That’s heat culture. It’s exciting to see his first day with the scout team. I was like, “Ah, okay. I see what they mean when they see say heat culture.” And I’ll be honest, coach Eric Spolster has been a little flirtatious with Miss Mr. Anthony Edwards. A player, by the way, that some people believe could ultimately be the next superstar player to request a trade because of Minnesota’s shortcomings in the playoffs. And let’s call spade a spade. Minnesota not being the most desirable franchise or franchise willing to spend a ton of money, which they have been able to do recently. They actually had the highest payroll in the NBA last season. in the year prior, I believe, with Goar, Cat, and Ant, but then they traded Carl the Towns. But Spolstra, as I mentioned, flirting back with Anthony Edwards during that same little run at Team USA. It’s hard to look at Anthony Edwards and not see Dwayne Wade. The way he moves, competes, and electrifies the crowd. Yeah, that reminds me of number three. And you think this happened with Spolstra and Anthony Edwards? Spolster was just the assistant. You think that’s going to ramp up with other potential players singing the praises of Eric Spolstra when he’s coaching them in the qualifiers in the Olympics. Like it’s going to be very, very fun. And the talent on Team USA is absolutely unmatched. He’ll be coaching some of the best players in the NBA and the world. And I put together my projected 12man 2028 Team USA roster here. Anthony Edwards will be on it again. Devin Booker will be on it again. Donovan Mitchell should be on it. Tyrese Halleurn should return. Jason Tatum should return. Bameio should return. Anthony Davis should return. I have some newcomers as well. Jaylen Brunson will be 31 at the time. Welldeserved. Donovan Mitchell, Paulo Bancerero, and Jaylen Williams. These are upand cominging younger United States players that I think complement some of the returning players like Edwards, Booker, Bam, AD, Tatum very, very well, but each team usually has 12. These are only 10. How about these two? I think it is very likely the United States wants to bring on two really young new coming players, guys that are within the first four or five years of the league so they can get some United States experience at the end of the bench and then become the next leaders of the team forward. I think Cooper Flag is borderline a lock before he even steps on the uh court for an NBA game. Highly touted guy, one of the best United States players out there. looks amazing in the preseason as already. He will, in my opinion, absolutely be on the team USA roster, but I think Brandon Miller is a sneaky one as well. And maybe I should add another big. I only have two bigs on this team with AD and Bam. But that you see nowadays small ball lineup, versatile lineups, you can stagger those two minutes. Van Carol can borderline play the five. Tatum has played small ball five minutes in the past. Cooper Flag could maybe do it as well at 69 610. So, I think there’s a lot of versatility in my projected 12-man team United States lineup. And I really like Brandon Miller. I think he’s going to be a MBA guy in the next couple of years, which would put him on track to maybe be on the United States roster in 2028, which checks notes, is three years away. The point I’m trying to make here by projecting the Team USA lineup and even talking about this at the back end of today’s video, the elite players that will be playing for Team USA are going to play for Eric Spolstra. They are going to see the way he coaches, the way he is competitive, the way he schemes them open and out schemes opposing coaches in teams at the Olympics. There is a very realistic way outcome where these United States players ultimately see the way Eric Spolstra prepares and coaches and says, “Yeah, I want that. I see what my coach does now and it’s not anything close to what Eric Spolstra does. And if I want to win a championship, I want to be the best. The best way to do that is to go play for the Miami Heat and coach Eric Spolstra.” Is it a luck? No. But there is a chance this ultimately happens and could land a superstar with the Miami Heat. That’ll do it for today’s show. Appreciate everybody who tuned in to this episode of the Heat Report. We’ll be back again tomorrow with more content. 2. Bam can’t play center & play center against Wemby. Ware would be a better pick for team USA. Paolo & Tatum even Mobley are a better 4 than Bam as well

  3. I’m glad that the team is in a spot where I can look solely at their actual draft picks and feel good about the future. It’s a good thing that we no longer have to pay attention to the development of UDFAs like they’re going to elevate the team one day.
