With big guys out, this season is going to be a frustrating puzzle of fitting the right pieces in the right places.
It's going to be tough juggling lines for the match-ups of every game without all the pieces, especially without the current Selke winner.
The pieces aren't fitting yet, but there's a lonnnnnnnnnnng way to go with lots of pieces still in the box.
Baseball has a 162-game regular season. You would lose your mind micromanaging every loss, and bad bounces aren't as common in baseball, and no one has ever tipped in a pitch on the way to the catcher. Except for that one time when a seagull flew by and was obliterated by a Randy Johnson fastball – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih_ovjbwQGk
I feel bad for Islander fans. They're already banging their heads against the wall at 0-3. Come on!, you have 79 games to go! Start drinking when they're 2-16 or 4-19.
The puzzle will become more obvious as time progresses; look at the puzzle in 10-game chunks.
There are 2 really good scouts sitting up in the Press Box watching every game, seeing the big picture and taking notes on how to fit the pieces – Barky and Chucky.
If PoMo and Zito decide they need a few pieces to finish the puzzle, they'll get them.
Hopefully Bob stays healthy, everyone comes back at 100%, slide into the Playoffs, and then put the foot on the gas pedal.
When you look around the League, there are already a lot of teams missing big pieces in their puzzle early in the season – https://www.espn.com/nhl/injuries
We have the worst when it comes to dates of return.
I'm not going to get wound up every time they lose. (Unless they lose 8 in a row.)
Nobody expected them to go 82-0.
Finishing first is nice, so is getting into the Playoffs on a Wild Card.
We've got the Cup, and someone will have to take it away from us.
To quote a couple of lines from the movie 'Major League' – Well, I guess there's only one thing to do. Win the whole fucking thing."
Some folks see the cup half-full or half-empty.
I see the Cup.

It’s a long season
If you’re panicking now you’re gonna be miserable until May-June
I like the advice to look at it in 10 game chunks. Maybe it will get some people off the ledge.
This shouldn’t be surprising the team falls apart without Barkov. They just have to try and stay around 500.
We’re doing just fine.
