The rink literally broke lmao

I’ve got to say, I always love when this happened. I love arena nonsense. And we got some great stuff tonight in Chicago. 14 minutes into the first, nothing, nothing. Exciting game between two young NHL teams and the lights go out. Just completely dark. Then I love when it turns back on and the refs have their hands spread. Like, come on, stop playing. Anyway, there was a game here and good for Chicago. This was their first win of the NHL season. No scoring till halfway to the second when McKay would take a power move to the net, tucking it in one nothing. Then in the third, JJ Purka, yes, he is on Utah now. Would take a beautiful pass from Gunther to tie it. But halfway through the frame on the power play, Nick Felina would do a great job winning a board battle. The puck would find its way to Barakovski out front. He does not miss. That would be the game winner with Ilia McKay adding one on the empty net. I got to say, I haven’t got to watch a ton of Mammoth games so far this season. I’ve watched, I think, all three Chicago now, however, and they are a young, fun, and fast team. It does seem like both Utah and Chicago are having trouble really putting together offense. It’s probably a systems thing still. A lot of young players, a lot of, you know, temporary players on these still pretty bad teams. But, I mean, right now, Frank Nazar has four points. Bedar two goals. I think for Chicago, they really should be focusing on trying to get some vets to surround these guys, more Felino types. But those are just my thoughts. Chicago fans specifically, please let me know what you thought of this game and more down below. And I’ll see you next time. Also, if you made it this far, best theory on what caused lights out in Chicago tonight. Thank God the ad stayed lit

Once again, an NHL rink has stopped working mid play. We’ll discuss that as we break down Chicago Blackhawks vs Utah Mammoth!

  1. I’m a Utah fan and this was pretty emblematic of their usual game. Sloppy play but a lot of shots. Only thing missing was an early score which they’re kind of known for at this point.

  2. ads must have their own/a separate power source. my theory is someone went "oh i wonder what this button does" in the breaker room and switched the arena off and on

  3. I went to the centennial season home opener Saturday for my first game at the UC, 29 years in the making lol What an experience, Hockey is so much more ❤️ This would've been wild to happen during my first game, I'd be scared the whole arena would be empty or something wild when the lights came back on 😅

  4. In terms of Chicago getting veteran forwards, they have to be SUPER short term considering at a minimum Frondell, Moore, and Kantserov should all be playing in the NHL for the majority/full season next year. I know not all prospects work out, but there's already bulk and quality, and the Hawks will still have Donato, Bertuzzi, Burakovsky, and Teravainen (hopefully Mikheyev too) beyond this season. It wouldn't be terrible to keep Dickinson around on a short-term, high AAV extension to help with the faceoffs though
