It just hit ANOTHER LEVEL with this…

It just hit another level with this as the hype for Dylan Harper has never been higher, including Bill Simmons recently speaking out on the young star and what he had to say had Spurs fans absolutely fired up. We have to dive into what Bill Simmons had to say and how Dylan Harper is looking even better than expected and what this means for the Spurs this season, but also a recent contract extension in the NBA that happened today in Sacramento does set a very interesting precedent for another Spur who’s due for some money. And I want to start with something that happened today and it’s an extension and it’s out of Sacramento like I said and it’s Keegan Murray. Now Keegan Murray uh look is is he worth this much money? I don’t know. Maybe probably the NBA’s cap’s going up a little bit and it always kind of will. So we’ll see how this deal ages but they signed him to a 5-year $140 million rookie contract extension. So they lock in their number four overall pick through 2031. And that is the equivalent to $28 million per year for a guy in Keegan Murray who actually kind of had a bit of a down year last year. His third year in the league was kind of worse than his second year. Second year was averaging 15 points. Third year down to 12. The efficiency really wasn’t there. 44 from the field, 34 from three. That was a guy that was projected to take that leap to 20 points per game last year. So why am I talking about this? Well, because it has implications on the San Antonio Spurs. And just like I spoke about before a little while ago, back in early October, a couple weeks ago, when Nicole Yoic out of Miami signed his rookie extension, his was a 4-year 62.4 million deal, which was just under $16 million per season. So now we have two very interesting comparables in Keegan Murray, who again shows a lot of promise, has had that 15 point per game season in his sophomore year, can score with the ball, without the ball, he’s got some promise. and Nicole Yoic, who’s more of a specialized guy who can knock down that three ball, decent passer as well, can board like you can see the assist numbers. Yovic doubles them. Yoic is a better three-point shooter. Keegan’s a better creator. And then you have Jeremy Sohan. And Jeremy Sohan in San Antonio. Again, more points, more rebounds than these guys. Well, more points than Yoic, more rebounds than these guys. The 3-1 percentage is not there, but he’s efficient. He’s a better slasher. But the big thing is he is a better defender. So with these contracts going down, you naturally are saying look how how will this affect how the Spurs approach So extension. Now when will it come? I don’t know. I though if I were a betting man, which usually I am not, but hey, you know, if I were one, I would say that we’d have to wait and see a little bit this season into what Jeremy Sohan is going to do for the team because like look, Sohan’s awesome, right? But he is coming off a calf injury, which can be a pretty rough injury to come back from. We need to see him at full strength with the Spurs team. And can he earn a starting spot? For example, like again, Yovic with that contract 62 million total. Ke Murray at that 28 million per year. Yoic at about 16. Would Sohen be in the middle. Would he be closer to one or the other? I want you guys to comment. My prediction Sohan’s going to come in a lot closer to Nicool Yoic than he does to Keegan Murray. And I don’t mean to put down the Sacramento Kings though is exactly what I’m going to do. I would not want to follow their business practices when it comes to contracts. I really always want the Kings to do good. But look, we got Fox out of them. I’m okay with it. I I think it’s a bit much for Keegan Murray. I think he could age into it very well. I don’t think it’s a horrible deal, but I think the Spurs are going to be smarter with Sohan and I think we’re going to see it come in probably under 20 million. So, I want to hear your guys thoughts because I’m seeing some Spurs fans comparing Murray and Sohan’s contract extensions together. So, we’ll have to see. But the very fun thing about today’s video is what Bill Simmons had to say about Dylan Harper. And I am so excited. Bill Simmons has actually been hyping the Spurs quite a lot. We’ve talked about some stuff that he has said recently. And look, we know Dylan Harper has been putting on a show in the preseason. And I mean, look, his numbers back it up here, right? In the NCAA, 19.4 points, four and a half boards, four assists. He did everything. And he shot pretty well all across the board. But really in summerly, you can see that game against the Mavs, that game against the Jazz, he did great. And then in the preseason, Jazz and Pacers, and my goodness, 11 points and nine points, eight assists against the Pacers, which is really the big thing. And it’s why I include some passes here. I mean, this finish was just crazy. But, I mean, just nice little reads, right? Nice little pass to Castle. Nice to see him knocking down some threes as well. But Dylan Harper’s ability to do everything in that game against the Pacers is what has Spurs fans pumped up. And it’s what has Bill Simmons saying this, saying there’s a comfort and ease with how Dylan Harper plays that you see immediately. He really knows where to go. He’s patient already. He has the body already. I think there’s something really special there potentially, but this is mirroring what some other Spurs fans have been saying. I talked about this the other day uh after one of the games. Dylan Harper is so obviously a star in the making, but he might even be a star now. And that’s what I’m saying, man. Like again, with the ability that he has now, the the opening, I should say, with De’Aran Fox being out to start the season, there’s been a lot of chatter about who’s going to start and it seems like the Spurs are probably looking at Castle, maybe Castle, Champenny, Vel. But my favorite thing with young players, and I I like to say this all the time, is like these guys have the ability to make themselves inevitable. If you can prove and you can show like Dylan Harper has to this extent in my opinion, that you belong on the court with these other guys. And he was the team’s best creator against the Pacers. Like in terms of passing, the dude was reading the defense very, very well, which I was I don’t want to say surprised by, but that was that’s not Dylan Harper’s calling card. It’s not his playmaking and passing, but it looked good, right? And again, not that I expected to look bad, but it was better than I thought. And right away, he’s showing those flashes of smoothness, of just like control over his game. There’s some parts he might get a little flustered, but he’s a rookie. The defense is nice. It’s there. It’s intense. The dude shooting, he’s doing all right shooting so far, a couple nice step back mids. He’s knocking down some threes, but the creation in general is looking really nice. And I think he fills in very, very well for De’arren Fox. And I think at this point, I keep showing that WBY picture by accident, though it’s, you know, to be fair, I like to look at it every time, but I keep pressing the wrong button. That’s my fault. But, you know, I think he’s a very good Fox replacement. And, you know, ultimately when Fox does come back, Dylan Harper taking his minutes just makes a ton of sense when Fox is off the court, right? Harper is such a perfect fit with this team. And again, it’s it has everyone talking about how good he is, that natural feel he has for the game, that ability to find his teammates, the the like when he’s out there, doesn’t he just feel like an NBA star? Like he’s controlling the flow of the game to such a large extent. Now, I do think it might be a bit overkill to to look at this guy and say, “Look, I mean, right away he’s going to come in and average 20 points right out the gate.” No, I don’t think that’s fair, right? again coming off that thumb surgery. I’m glad he’s good to go earlier than was first predicted when he had this surgery. But, you know, it’s going to take him time, right? The rookie wall is real. Teams are going to start, if he starts playing really well, teams are going to start studying him. It’s just the the cycle of what happens in the NBA. But overall, Dylan Harper has looked so good that everyone is talking about him. Absolutely everyone. Right. A lot of the highlights I took here, this is from Six Rings of Steel, a great another great YouTuber talking about how smooth Dylan Harper looks. Again, we have photos like uh like not that this here. Dylan Harper, so obviously a star in the making, but he might even be a star now for the little flash of hockey stuff. If you didn’t know, I also have a hockey channel, but that’s for another day. Dylan Harper looking like a star. Bill Simmons, there’s a comfort and ease, everything. He exudes that star energy. Is that a real thing? I think it is. I think you can see a player, the way they play the game, the way they control, the way they manipulate the defenses or on the defensive end, the offenses into doing what they want so they can create the shot that they want. That is a special talent that not everyone has and Dylan Harper is showing it already. Look, I could not be more hyped for Dylan Harper. We’ll run the highlights one more time.
