NHL Insider Reports Red Wings Exploring Trades for Hamonic, Gustafsson

  1. Just stick em on the curb with a “Free” sign taped to them. That’s how I usually get rid of junk

  2. Put them on facebook marketplace cause that would be the only place you could find a trade for them.

  3. Each of their value on the market has never been lower. If Steve could manage a 6th or 7th rounder for either, it would be a win lol. Hell if the Wings retained any amount of money maybe a 5th or 6th rounder could be in play.

  4. These signings really make it seem like Stevie didn’t have choices.

It was either have AHLers, kids who weren’t ready or guys who have experience but probably shouldn’t be playing anymore. Since the kids are ready, it worked out.

I can’t imagine the overpay it would have been for competent players

  5. Glad we’re not wasting time on Hamonic. Don’t know what Steve was thinking in signing him to begin with. I’m sure he’s a good dude but I’ve yet to hear anything good about his play.

Maybe we can call in our future considerations with San Jose and be like, hey, he’s yours now. Have fun.

  6. Both players are a waste of money but we didn’t spend to the cap this year… so who cares?

  7. Gee I dunno maybe let’s stop signing pylons that predictably will have to be removed a year or two after the signing. Does no one do any homework on these guys? Like is *anyone* shocked we have to move them because they’re so shit?

  8. If true, I’m confused why we picked up Hamonic. Cheap backup option if the young guys didn’t work I assume?

  9. Can’t imagine they’d fetch much more than Future Considerations, but this tells us the FO sees ASP as a permanent fixture, which is great to see.

  10. How are Wallinder and Mitchell looking in GR?

If we send away Hamonic and Gustafsson we’re left bringing up Holl or those two to fill in for injuries

  11. Pagnotta never seems to report anything that isn’t obvious. Wow, really, a team is exploring options at the bottom of its D-core after starting and benching a cheap vet? Who’d have guessed!?

Make way! Make way! A pair of 2034 7th round picks incoming.

  13. Why? We have cap space and they’ve cleared waivers. Are we looking to buy something and need to free up space?

Package them with someone with traces of value like Berggren and a pick and get them out of here?

  14. Doesn’t make sense to ship them if we could potentially need backups due to injuries, both of them are up after this year anyway I thought

  15. Hamonic was a waste of time from the start, glad they’re looking to move on already.

  16. As long as we are not giving up a pic to get rid of them, I don’t really care what we get for them

  17. I really hope that some of our more expensive veterans that we don’t really need anymore have resurgent year’s and are extremely productive so that we can trade them once other teams start to experience a lot of injuries around the league and we then hopefully can promote their replacements from the AHL, free agent pick ups from other leagues or via trades for younger, cheaper, less experienced unproven players who are potentially faster, more athletic, more aggressive or more physical, but need an opportunity to prove themselves at the NHL level.

  18. I’d keep Hamonic around. Injuries happen, he’s a serviceable 6 defensemen when deployed properly.

  19. This means that for the first time I can recall in a long while, the coaching staff is seeing what we are seeing out on the ice. And actually doing something about it.

  20. /signs Hamonic

/determined to pay him money to play actual games for your hockey club as a bottom pair Dman

    /plays one singular game

/So horrific in his one game, you waived him down to GR and are trying to trade him out of the org altogether.

Splendid sequence for our vaunted professional scouting.

  21. Man. You know you played like shit when you play 1 game and the team immediately goes “begone, thot.”

  22. I always hated that Gustafson signing — they should have just re-signed Gostisbehere, although he may not have intended to stay in Detroit, I guess. I doubt there will be a taker for either but at least you can bury Hamonic easily in the minors.
