Tua Tagovailoa Apologizes To Miami Dolphins Locker Room For Comments, But Is The Damage Done?
Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Hope you’re doing well there. If you guys could subscribe, that’d be great. I appreciate you stopping by the channel. Satu apologized, you know, uh, as as we I I figured that was going to be the case. I thought that he was going to step to the podium and it was going to be immediate statement first. Let me explain myself and then he’ll take the questions on it where he’ll be very mum. But the most that he was going to try and throw out there was going to be, you know, I I was in the moment. I Nothing that was said. I I think as far as apologies go, I give it like a seven out of 10. I think that he hit most of the right notes. Did he try, you know, some misconstrued in the media and all that stuff? I don’t give any breaks on that. This this misconstrued on the media. That’s kind of the entire point. So there’s no there’s there’s no throwing the media out there how it was construed, how it was interpreted. That’s literally the problem. Like I don’t think that and and he kind of made this point. My my my teammates know that the intention was good, but that I needed to go out there and I needed to protect the team. So I’m glad that he got the grasp of the problem. I just think if it could have gone without the uh you know, oh that wasn’t my intent. It doesn’t really matter, dude. like the damage is done. Like that’s the whole point is we’re sitting here um and we’re we’re we’re wondering like, hey, why would you go there and just add more noise to what’s already a very noisy situation for the Miami Dolphins? We’re sitting here at the record they’re at. They’re going to go take on another one and five team. So, we got ourselves like another Jet showdown where it’s like the battle of the of the of the unclean, these two teams. And whoever comes out on top, I guess, is a little less embarrassing. And whoever doesn’t, I mean, I do wonder if this is a little bit of a, you know, coach’s job on the line, loser leaves town match between Stfansky and Mike McDaniel. There’s some weird stuff going on in Cleveland with Stfansky. You know, Leroy being as in tune with he is over there. And it’s like it kind of feels like there’s maybe not uh a through line with who should be playing, why guys were traded, him and the GM, where things are at, the reason they traded Joe Flacco. You guys saw the whole Mike Tomlin thing making fun of it. He would know comment it. So it it’s possible that this could turn into something there. I’m not really sure. I don’t know, you know, where this all goes from here. But as far as Tua, yeah, he had to I I appreciate him stepping up and taking accountability for his ridiculous comments after the game. And I think that whatever his intent was, it didn’t matter. It was the messaging that it sent. Because again, this was my whole point when people were trying to make the argument about context with the whole thing. And I’m like, we don’t live in this world of context anymore. Which means if you say one thing, you might as well have that be the one thing that you’ve said because it’s going to get clipped up, Instagrammed up, Tik Tocked up, all those types of things. And you’re really not going to have anybody who’s going to go back and watch 11 minutes of stuff. I’m amazed that people watch 11 minutes of this. So when when people say that to it’s like yeah you could use that but you need to know that like what just because you said something four minutes ago doesn’t mean that what you’re saying here isn’t inflammatory and isn’t going to get everybody all riled up and crazy. And you know it’s interesting I was reading some comments from uh from Jack Jones who told this to Chris Perkins of the Sunnel who you guys can catch as well on Game Day uncensored. Perk and Omar Kelly joining myself and Salana uh during our four hours of pregame coverage for the uh for the Miami Dolphins. But Jones had an interesting comment on this um because he had some people, you know, like I think Jaylen Phillips came to bad for him and he goes, “I know to his heart.” He didn’t say he if he did say anything, it was with good intention. I don’t think he’s trying to call anybody out or anyone in particular. we have to hold each other and anybody who’s mad about being late, it’s kind of like if the shoe fits type of situation, you can’t really be mad. Uh that’s their fault in the first place, which I get that, you know, that’s kind of like if he if you feel like he’s talking about you, then he might be then he might be talking about you. But is that the time or the place to do it? You know, and especially a team that’s already had the labeling that it has. And I think that’s part of the reason Mike McDaniel was so pissed is because he’s sitting out here and he’s like, “Hey man, I already got people thinking that I I, you know, let everybody kind of run wild and do whatever they want here. You’re not helping me and I’ve always helped you. I’ve always been a coach who’s had your back.” Um and and Jack Jones had a great quote on this where he goes my he goes my thing is man we got to win games what he’s talking about no disrespect but what he’s talking about online you know what I’m saying like we got to go win games which yeah that’s that’s also like I get Jack Jones putting that out there too because that’s the main thing is like and to it did acknowledge this like hey at one and five I got to go protect the team. I’m glad that he knows that now. I mean the damage is kind of done my friend but I’m glad that he knows that now after everybody you know spent the week picking at the bones of the Miami Dolphins and now he’s going to get you know today that you know whenever uh Jedup starts and and first take and McAfee and all the the ESPN car wash and every podcast known to man. We’ll see how the the national pundits choose to deal with it. Um, but I do agree with Jack Jones. Like the most thing that they need right now, they need a win. Like they need air to breathe. And the Buzzards are are certainly circling the team right now. Everybody feels like the Dolphins are left for dead. He did um you know he did uh talk about you know when asked by uh by by people he goes uh you mentioned that you were frustrated he says yeah I was frustrated as I say it can happen it’s one of those things that can’t happen uh especially when things are with our team being one and five I see how that can be misconstrued or whatever it being a loss to he then said that he spoke to all the leaders Engold and he was like uh Oh, he’s asked who are the leaders. Um, I don’t really understand the point of that, but he at least it was just a list of people. And then he said, with those player le meetings, what’s the benefit of it? How would you classify how those meetings go? He says, I would say that’s something that rule number one, protect the team. That’s something that we should do is keeping it in-house, and I don’t want to speak on that. Which is what you’ve kind of heard publicly from everybody else when this was all going on and he was going through his apologies and whatnot. And you know, we’ll see. I think he’s got to, you know, first and foremost, obviously, he’s got to go play well. Um, and thing that will ease a lot as it is. If they don’t and they go lose to the Browns, I don’t I don’t know because I don’t I don’t I I think when something I I think when trust is broken, especially in the midst of chaos, I don’t really know how much words are going to matter. Like it’s good that Tua took accountability and like I said it was a solid apology. Um good for him for for for taking it on the chin and obviously you could tell by tone like he feels bad. I don’t think Tu is a bad guy. I don’t think that you know he’s a prick and he’s trying to uh he’s you know he’s he’s he’s not aware that that he messed up in a big way. Um, but I also don’t know that the words matter right now. I think that everybody’s going to be looking to him and being like, “Dude, can you get us out of this situation with good football play? Is that possible? Are we going to be able to beat a one in5 Browns team on the road? Can you make anything happen?” And if he can get a win that people will be a lot more forgiving. If he cannot and things just look even more chaotic and and look like they’re spinning out of control, yeah, it’s definitely a possibility that it could get worse. There’s a possibility that the coach loses even more trust. Um, I’m sure you’ll get a guy who’s more um short with his answers after a loss, but man, I don’t want to call it a must-win because it kind of feels pointless at this, but you know, they need win. They need a win like they need air to breathe just to just to ease some of this around the team just to get through the rest of the year because if they do lose to a one and five Browns team um and the hits keep coming then yeah I could see I could definitely see it getting worse now. We’ll see what’s what with the Dolphins going into garage sale mode and and and uh ready to start selling off the parts. I don’t know. That’s a that’s another thing that we gota that we kind of got to dive into and see where they go from here as far as their team is concerned. But yeah, overall good for Tua. The words are said now we’ll see and now it’s on everybody to to see how they take it. But I I ultimately think that they need him to go out there and and lead to win because if they if if he says sorry and they stink up the joint, I think people are going to be le I think it can be as simple as people are going to be less forgiving just because of that. Like if you don’t start playing better and he hasn’t played well um among others, you know, that’s the you know, he hasn’t played well and and has played his worst season as a Miami Dolphin. And what do you know? his worst season of Miami Dolphin has coincided with their worst record with him as a Miami Dolphins quarterback. So, I guess you know the the the flow team that started bad too that that was there. But this Mike McDaniel era like the worst that he’s played has coincided with the worst that they’ve been. Um yeah, I know there’s other things. We don’t have to go over the list. There’s that’s that’s kind of wasting your breath right now. I’m just This is strictly on him because he made it about him. You know, he made it he made this entire thing about him this week, which I know that’s typically not what he likes to do. He likes to act like, “Oh, I don’t see here.” Or any of this stuff. Well, he had a selfish moment and he tried to make it about him. He tried to make it about him by deflecting, you know, on other people and making it seem like he was a good leader and other people weren’t following following his leadership. And that’s a part of the reason why they didn’t execute to the fullest of their capabilities. All right. Well, go play to the fullest of your capabilities and and try and make something happen against a bad team that has a bad offense. Go outd them. Know they got some scary dudes on that defense offensive line. So, we’ll see. But the only way I think these words are the words carry weight to get you through the week. gets a band-aid.

1st let’s go
Just tell us the story where you out. You were pretty excited on Sunday though
Jack jones is playing worse then Tua, jack jones should not be on a nfl team
Get rid of Tua. Even if everything was perfect around him it still wouldn't be enough to win a Superbowl.
Tobin please don’t call yourself a fan. The team already said they knew what he meant. They said they didn’t have a problem with what he said. They said if the shoe fits wear it. They said no he shouldn’t have said it in public but it’s not a big deal. You media people are causing the issues.
Tara was told to apologize
If you listen to other players on the team this week they're united and there's no damage done. Media is overreacting. Narratives said that Tyreek wants out after he confessed his mistake while displaying better leadership actions and even still wants to stay in Miami even after his injury. Now narratives that all the players have had enough of Tua… The players love Tua and they're as close as ever. Public and the media are trippin'
Nobody cares about your intentions. Your delivery matters just as much as your intentions. Imagine screaming and yelling at your child to do something. Than when your child shuts down, your excuse is but my intentions were good. NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!!!!!!!
“Battle of the unclean” is killing me dawg
"The damage is done my friend"
He’s the leader of the team, who is supposed to call people out if not him? Cmon guys. These are grown men playing a grown man game. All he said is we will so who shows up and shows up on time this week. If we are failing execution and communication, then extra time is necessary. Most of these players didn’t even practice with us this summer (rehab, signings). I have no problem with it. Honestly, it’s him saying that he is accountable for his mistakes, and the team also needs to hold themselves accountable. The leader is supposed to do this. If you’re not late, then it ain’t about you.
At this point stop blaming any one person .THIS TEAM IS COMPLETE TRASH
I think Tua was being a leader when he called them bums out for losing so many games. (Defense & Special Teams).. Everybody lead in different ways & sometimes you gotta go outside of the box or outside your usual self to show people that you're serious & ain't playing around to get a point across. I'm sure Tua & other captains probably mention the team meetings thing behind close doors to the players but they still continued to be late so I think he was kinda frustrated by the way the last couple of games went with the Defense & Specials Teams blowing the game & he decided to take a different approach to call whoever out that were late or missing team meetings Publicly to get through to the player or players since they didn't get it when they were told to there face behind close doors & in house. I don't see nothing wrong with what Tua said especially if he were speaking facts about players missing or being late to team meetings. That's being a leader so I don't know why the team is mad at Tua, hell they need to be mad at themselves for playing like TRASH & blowing games & giving up over 200 yards to back up running backs & for not being able to stop nobody in key moments or when the game is on the line when the Offense got the lead. I applaud Tua for calling they bum ass out & now they supposedly mad at Tua but for what especially if he's speaking facts. They need to stop being sensitive & go take the feeling of being mad against other teams & tackle & Play Better & they said that Tua suppose to be the sensitive one smh lol. I see why everybody call the team soft & to be honest Tua got the biggest balls & heart by calling the bums out Publicly. Way to go Tua 👏 maybe now the bums will play better & stop blowing games & leads. Can I get a Amen lol
Tobin we watch you because you’re the Goat of what you do! You should definitely do more LIVES
It’s not solely Tua’s job to get them a win on Sunday. He got back the lead last week and then the defence screwed it up. What happened to ‘team sport’? Thought there was no such thing as quarterback wins?
Nobody is saying this but special teams have cost us 3 games.Punt return against the patriots, running into the kicker at bills ,and 40 yard return against the chargers when the game was won
Just like Shannon said on Night Cap, You've already said it and there is no taking it back. You didn't see Tom Brady Or Montana whining about other people. They would say " I need to play better"….Tua isn't a leader of Men no more than McDaniel's is. If Brady or Montana called a team meeting….their teammates respected them….They showed up on time. The respect was earned on and off the field. Tua doesn't have that and he never will. You just lost your team brother. They won't play at all for you now. It's done and over, stick a fork in it. Blow this whole pathetic mess up. Play Ewers, Why not?
I don’t care at all that he apologized. I want Grier, McDaniel and Tua gone. I’m done watching or caring about this team
Too late too woke
Nothing is gonna happen next week. Ross is not gonna fire Mike before Spain game, if anything after on a bye or at the end of a season imo
All I hear is excuses on why it should be kept in house, I hear nothing about addressing the real problem.
Tua apologized so he didnt get a Code Red
McDaniel is weird and goofy. However he had helped Tua so much and Tua is repaying him back by acting like a jack🫏! 🤦🏾♂️
Doesn't matter. But in Tua's defense, all he did was declare what most of us already know. Tua's demonstration in 2023 that he can't beat good teams, Hill's frustration last year with his QB limitations, and his talent for crapping on the defenses efforts with mere three-and-outs or INTs, continuing to choking out games, hardly inspires the rest of the team to respect much.
Can’t keep dumping on Tua…Ross, Grier and McDaniel are all culprits in this mess. Tua has his faults, of course, it seems like the new plan is to scapegoat Tua, while again Grier dodges accountability and being fired. The Dolphins as an organization has been absolute garbage since Dan’s last game getting humiliated by the Jags…
3:18 don’t be amazed tobes, we love you big guy
Ugh, if Tua falls into this “the media is against me” kind of mentality, I’m going to lose a lot of respect for him. One of the things that he was known for was keeping respectful during relentless media scrutiny and it made him someone people wanted to root for even when his play didn’t show up. Im saying this as someone who’s worldview is the polar opposite to his in every way, but good people are good people and bad people are bad people, no matter their beliefs. I want to root for good people – at least in a relative sense to other athletes.
I’m not saying it’s an easy thing to deal with the level of noise social media provides. Defaulting to the “me against the world” mentality seems to be the easiest way to deal with it – especially now with some prominent examples – but it is going to make him look awful because he is not good at it. Also, most people are catching onto the fact that this is not a good trait to have since media scrutiny and online hate is not something that is unique to one side or the other – and using it as away to show how right you are is like using a dice roll to determine your worldview. It also screams insecurity, and he is going to continue failing if he doesn’t deal with that insecurity in a more healthy way.
What you said about McDaniel going to bat for Tua and then Tua throwing him under the bus was a pretty stark point as well. It makes me think less of him despite the apology.
Tua’s getting 50 mil a year and the one thing you can count on is Tua throwing the game away at the most important moments. I 100% understand the players frustration, crying for everyone to show up to a meeting will not fix this.
We should have found a way to trade for Lamar Jackson when we had a chance lol
time to pull out that dusty doors debut album your stoner great uncle had & go to the last song.
Dolphin fan since I was in elementary school in the late 70s. This team sucks. I live in New York, I'm gonna start following the Giants. This owner sucks, the coach sucks, the GM sucks, and the QB sucks, and the players suck. I wish more people would give up on supporting this crap. 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩
