  1. Gwynn debuted in the majors in 1982, but did not become a full time player and star until 1984 when he won his first batting title. Carew probbly wouldn’t have visited Gwynn before 1984, which was Carew’s penultimate season in the majors.

  2. Rod Carew put up 8.4 WAR after his age 35 season while only hitting ten home runs total his final four season.

    Rod Carew is also the only man to win a batting title without hitting a single home run (1972)
