Problem is people act like finishing last gets us McKenna. If we finish last we’ll be picking 5th and the league will make some big market get Gavin
And our nexts games our Vegas, Winnipeg and Montreal we might actually tank!!!

I do like that we have some guys on the team who have successfully tanked and been on lottery winning teams before so they know how to get it done. Looking at Naz and Huberdeau.

Realistically, I don’t see the Flames staying at the bottom of the league for very long.
My expectation would be for the Flames to “right the ship” to a certain extent and start stringing some wins together. From game 6 to 52 they could even have a pretty similar record to last season but the difference in how the season started could make all the difference. Last season they were 26-19-7 with 59 points, and this season they could be 22-23-7 and 51 points. Being 0.500 or below heading into the trade deadline would likely trigger Conroy to sell, and for them to fall in the standings.
Don’t get your hopes up…
Having said that, this would be a time when I wouldn’t mind eating crow. So, let’s see what happens.
This is the Flames were talking about. I fully expect them to go on a heater at some point and finish just out of the last playoff spot, securing another mid-range draft pick.
Trade Ras, trade Naz, trade Coleman. Our highest ever draft pick just won the Con Smyth for another team. I need a top 4 pick.
The other bonus to losing a bunch is you can score some cheap tickets before the prices explode with the new arena
According to this chart , the lottery would be fixed so mckenna ends up in Columbus
