Haynes: “Sources relayed to me that [Joel Embiid] might make his preseason debut tomorrow as well against the Timberwolves… when he does return I am told he will be on a tight schedule. Just because he returns doesnt mean hes going to be an everyday available player”

  1. Let the man run up and down the floor. Let him get into something resembling a game sweat.

15 pre season minutes is not going to break him anymore than the regular season. If he cannot do it tomorrow he won’t be able to in a week.

    BUT ILL TELL YOU WHAT.

    We might just be back.

  2. Like the video says, I think this mostly just covers back-to-backs and gives them easy authority to sit him if something acts up.

  3. This is as positive as can be. Hopefully Joel can just play as much as he did earlier in his career around 55 games

  4. He shouldn’t be expected to be an everyday player at this point and it’s why the offense better not revolve fully around him. Can’t have your offense rely on a guy you can’t rely on and then when he doesn’t play blame him

  5. Glad everyone agrees that he should get a preseason run if he feels ready..

The whole purpose of preseason is to give players a feel for the game again and run some plays without there being any pressure to get a result, so it’s honestly perfect…

I mean, if he gets injured we were screwed anyway, it happens preseason or happens in game 1, so zero point in ‘saving him for only games that matter’. IMO Better to test his legs for the first time when he has zero pressure to perform.

  6. These talking heads don’t know any more than the average Sixer fan. It’s all bullshit.

  7. I will pretend to be surprised if he misses the opener and the first two to three weeks. He hasn’t played in a while.

  8. I’m feeling optimistic. It’s not the bad years, but fact he never made the ECF that makes me upset. Hope it happens someday. Embiid is one of the most underappreciated basketball players we’ve ever seen.

  9. It’s going to be more load management bullshit. No other player is babied like this

  10. Going to the game tomorrow night, I really would love to see him out there, even if only for a few minutes! TTP FTC

  11. I thought that knee was about ready to need amputating the lower leg. If he plays at all, like 1/3 games without major issues and setbacks, I will be happy

  12. What matters is how or if the knee can hold up after game action. If the knee is actually not swelling after the games like last year, and the time he misses is solely due to the team not wanting to push him, that is the best case scenario we could have realistically prayed for.
