Get to Know Devin Lloyd: The Pick-6 & His Explosive Start to the 2025 Season | Jacksonville Jaguars
Welcome in to Off the Field presented by Dreamfinders Homes where we check up with your favorite Jaguars players as they step off the practice field. And today we’re checking with linebacker Devin Lloyd, the man of the moment, the the game, the month. You’ve been having quite a quite a season to start with. Yeah, it’s been uh it’s been fun. Um winning is fun and obviously having success is fun. So, you know, got to keep it rolling. got some fan questions for you, but I do want to start out with the pick six because you ran 99 yards on Monday Night Football. Um, walk me through the play a little bit and and what were you thinking when you were taking it all the way back? Yeah, it was a good call. Um, we hadn’t shown that look yet. Um, where the middle guys pop out and so, you know, we got him at the right time. Um, was able to capitalize on the opportunity and I picked up some good blocks along the way. you know, um I had a guy running that runs a 4-2 chasing me. So, you know, fortunate enough that I had enough gas and I had enough um from Josh and Smooth to to help me get to the end zone. They got the big guys down there blocking for you. They were running back, too. So, that was impressive. Yeah. Yeah. Everybody, everybody on the field, they were hauling and it came off a long drive. Obviously, got all the way down to the to the goal line. So, it took a lot of effort by everybody. Did everybody need some oxygen after or you feel you were okay? I know I needed some oxygen. I’m sure some of the guys did too, but um but yeah, definitely it was a lot. Um let’s talk a little bit about your resurgence this year. Obviously, a lot of problems for the team as a whole last year on defense coming in. The defense is leading the league in takeaways right now. You’re playing lights out. Is there one significant thing that’s changed for you or do you feel like coaching staff has helped you change or you’ve just what’s what’s the difference? I guess. Um, I’d say for me the biggest difference is just uh how good shape I am in. Um, as far as my nutrition, I think that helps me play hard, play long. And then the coaches coming in, they’ve been a great help. Coach Cam, um the way he calls the defense, it’s uh really aggressive and the way they teach the scheme as far as the techniques um from the linebackers all the way to the D line, specifically in the run game um allows everybody to be violent and aggressive at the point of attack. And then in coverage, you know, you have more opportunities to get your eyes on the quarterback, which is something that we obviously in the past weren’t able to do. Um co coach Codwell when he was here we were able to do that and there were there was plays made on the ball. So getting back to that is nice just having vision coverages and obviously still being able to attack downhill whenever your numbers called is nice as well. Um this is one of our fan questions. They said what advice would you give to rookie year Devin Lloyd? What would you tell yourself? I mean rookie year I came in and um you know ultra confident. I think for me it was just understanding how long the the season is. Um definitely, you know, continuing to eat the right things, uh continuing to stay in the weight room, um all the little things, stay in your playbook consistently, just all the little things. Um not to say that I didn’t, but it’s just it’s a long season. And so whenever you um start to get wore down, you you got to fight through that threshold. And I think uh part of it too is is like you know the consistency aspect of it. You know I would say um you know there’s a lot of times when your body breaks down and one thing trickles to another you want to get ahead of that early and and build the right foundation so that you can last the whole season. Um I want talk a little bit about your family. I know you were talking this week. Um both of them were in the military. Have has that affected your life at all and how you kind of lead or how you prepare for your job at all? Yeah. Um, with my parents being in the military, uh, you know, I would say this the biggest thing that I learned is discipline. Um, doing things the right way even when nobody’s watching and I think that comes with um, you know, consistency goes handinhand with that. But it really just comes down to doing the right thing, you know. Um whether it’s in front of somebody or whether you’re you’re at home at home alone by yourself, just doing the right thing. Cool. All right, we’re going to do a couple rapid fire questions about your teammates. So, I’m going to start out with I I deem you one of the most chill off the field, chill, calm, kind of got it all together. So, which teammate is like a 180 from you? Who’s like the craziest hyper energy guy on the team? I gotta go with my man Jarian Jones. He never stops talking for those that don’t know. Never. He never. Is that in the locker? Anybody in the locker room’s kind of like, “All right, you gotta stop at some point or you just let it go.” Um, I mean him and Ju always go at it. I think um I I feel like I’ve seen some times where Jayz like bro be quiet to say it in a in a better way. But um but man, yeah, we all love Jordan. Absolutely. Um, if you could swap positions with anybody else on the team and play a different position, who would you want to swap with? My man T. Law? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You think you could throw it? Yeah, absolutely. Is there any experience behind that or you just think you got it? No, I mean there’s no experience, but obviously if I trained and I prepared and you know, you give me some time, I think I’d be pretty good. Obviously, he’s been doing it his whole life. So, like if I was doing it my whole life, too. You know, if it’s like right now, this day, like boom, I just swap. Um I mean, got to be like tight end or something. Okay. You want to block? Yeah. I mean, and catch too, but I’ll block too. Oh, pass catching. Yeah. Okay. Touchdown and block in a little bit. All right, cool. Um, if you got in a fight or someone tried to fight you, who would you call in as backup? Who’s like your guy that’s going to help you out? Man, I’d call the whole Dline. But if it was one guy, I’m calling I mean, give me give me Trayvon. That’s the only answer to that question. I was writing this and I was like, that is the only possible answer cuz even Trayvon with a club hand would probably be better than most people. Oh my goodness. Yeah, he’s different. Absolutely. All right, that’s off the field with Deon Boy.

He's going to have a legendary Year!
Pay this man
Absolute unit!!
what sucks is that they got rid of his fifth year option so he's a UFA at the end of the year. And the way he is playing he might be too expensive for us to keep and that would suck.
Let’s Go!!!
Devin Lloyd is HIM. Jarrian Jones seems funny. 😂😂
