Kellen Moore recaps loss vs. Patriots | New Orleans Saints
[Music] Um, all right. Well, uh, I think I feel like for the first time in a little while, we don’t have a big medical report to give to you guys. So, obviously we got, you know, it’s the middle of an NFL season. There’s plenty of maintenance and all that stuff, but, uh, anticipate, uh, you know, what what we ended that game should the same way going into this one. So, um, I’ll just open up for questions. have experienced over your time that early season of every season takes a unique path obviously. Uh it’s uh it’s one of the somewhat uncontrolled variables of our league and so we do have to navigate at times and so um you know yeah we have a lot of guys that are sore like I you know they’ve played six games in the NFL and so uh they got to navigate that but uh you know I feel like our strength staff, our performance staff, our trainers, I think they’re doing a really good job uh getting these guys healthy and ready to go. Yeah, if you want to start with Spence, I thought um you know he made some plays downfield. I think we had a few few explosive plays for certainly the first play uh was a great play by him. Uh I thought his pocket movement was phenomenal throughout the game, the entire game. Uh first play was a great example of him subtly moving in the pocket, giving ourselves an opportunity to make that play. Uh he had a really good scramble to Alvin on third and three, four, somewhere in that range. Um, I thought Spence did some really good stuff. I thought he was steady. Um, he made really good decisions. I thought he operated at a really high level and he certainly gave us a chance. And so, uh, you know, at the end of the day, collectively, we weren’t able to create enough, uh, plays to, to win the game. And so, uh, I thought thought he, uh, did some good stuff. We certainly thought there was a lot of depth to that class. Um I was in Philadelphia so we were in a we weren’t necessarily digging into it the same way that you know I think most other years I have just because of where our roster was. we just trade for Kenny Picket and we had Tanner McKe already and so we already had three guys kind of in place and so we didn’t do the the deep dive but I did certainly watch those guys and so um you know I think Drake’s a great example of his development that he’s going through uh this year he’s done a phenomenal job I think Spence’s taken a step I think you could certainly see it you know moving forward with Caleb uh this going to be another challenge of a guy who’s getting better and better each week what do you Well, I would say the first two plays are really good plays. Uh, you know, so like I don’t think it’s like we’re not exe, you know, we’re not we’re not ready for the game or anything. First play, excellent, excellent play. We we get a couple, you know, two two three yard stops. Second play, they run a draw. Dear Mario’s right there, pounces on it. We got this awesome third down opportunity to go three and out to start the game. And then we miss the up. you know, we’re we’re not connected from a coverage standpoint. We got to do a better job there. And then then they get the big explosive once they kind of cross the 50. And so, um, you know, I I I don’t think it’s all bad. I think it’s just, hey, we got to be really really sound from the start and we got to take advantage of every opportunity. And that’s the thing that shows up is, uh, the big plays that impact the games could show up from play one to play 75. It doesn’t really matter when it is. Um, they all essentially have the same value. Uh, you know, and so you got to take advantage of each opportunity you have. Yeah, it’s unfortunate. I think I think uh you know, just everyone being coordinated, being on the same page. Sometimes it’s a it’s a depth thing. Uh just making sure we have the depth in in our defense just to hey, teams are going to give you double moves. They’re going to give you, you know, movement shot plays. And so, we just got to put oursel in better position, which um you know, it got us a couple times in this game, which it probably hasn’t historically gotten us the first few few weeks of the season. And so, um, it’s a great lesson for for our backend guys. You know, those are some couple of them are younger players that are, you know, experiencing some of these things for the first time. And so, um, you know, it’s going to be an awesome opportunity for those guys to grow. Yeah. Yeah, ultimately I think you know we had five drives where I felt like we were moving it well and then it was you know there’s obviously two third down miss ops there’s two holds and then there’s a false start and all those I think occurred plus 37 you guys know this better than me plus 37 or tighter and so there’s five five drives where we feel like we’re doing doing a lot of good stuff we’re progressing it really well and then we just you know make a mistake or have a missed stop and then we just can’t gather oursel back up and so I got to do a better job of you know sustaining these drives for these guys and uh giving them the best opportunity to be successful because again there’s plenty of good in there and uh you know we just got to find a way to capitalize on these opportunities. Any of these guys coming off of injuries. I think that yeah there will be some fluctuation with their their snap count, but I thought you know that was probably the number we probably anticipate it being and so uh we’ll see how it goes. Yeah. Yeah. All good. Yeah. Yeah. I thought Chase battled. Uh, you know, I thought his play style was was right there and so, you know, we just got to finish on a couple ops. You know, we’re really close and we just got to finish on him and, uh, you know, I think he’s got u some opportunities just to respond the right way and he will and we have all the confidence in the world that, you know, he’s going to make some impact plays, you know, this week and in the future. Yeah, we just, you know, we have two really good linebackers and these young guys never really get a ton of rotation opportunities and so um felt like you know getting Danny a few reps has some value for for your roster and so um he hasn’t played a ton of snaps other than I think the Seattle game where obviously the game kind of got behind us and so um you know you got two drives in there you know I think you end up with just it was just two three and outs that end up just being six plays and so um but Danny’s a good player and so uh I I think, you know, when you have give these guys some exposure, I think it helps them if something comes up. His was just like a rotation thing. Just get him in there. Stalurn, you know, he’s he’s kind of got a third down situation thing that he’s popped up in and so he’s been able to play a little bit of that specific role. And um you know, we go through this in a lot of different other positions, too. just trying to give ourselves some rotations and some depth and so I thought it was it was valuable for him and you know then Pete popped back out there and kept playing and so we’re good. Yeah, I thought really stout against the run. Uh you know everything’s really connected fits fits really well. uh you know they play uh very contested football on the on the back end you know and so uh you know shoot I think I feel like we played New Orleans at one point just felt like every year we were playing you know we’d go up against Dennis and so I have a ton of respect for him I think think the world of him he does a really good job with that group he’s always done you know forever was he could really run the football you know especially when you came down here and you had to play in the dome and it’s like holy cow we might run for 50 yards uh you know and so they were battles there they were really fun battles and so this will be fun to kind of you know, see what their new flavor is in Chicago. You’re always evolving each and every place you go, each and every stop. It’s different rosters, different uh constructions, and so uh you know, I think you can see their group getting better each week and so they’re going to be playing with a lot of confidence. Yeah, I think the continuity is growing and so I think there’s a lot of positives with that. Um you know, I think uh you know, that group’s doing some good stuff. You know, we we have to sustain it. I think that’s more about it moving forward now. I think we got the right guys there. We got them in the spots. They’re playing some good football. Now it’s just about sustaining it over the course of four quarters. Uh all the stuff, all the passing off of games on third downs. We’ll continue to get better at and uh just the strain and finish. You know, we kind of talked about that from an O line perspective. Uh you know, you just got to take the time clock out of your head, strain and finish all the way to the end of the play. And um those guys will head in the right direction. Yeah, I thought it was an awesome performance by him. I thought he did a lot of good stuff on there. I thought it was a really good rebound game. Uh coming off of an injury where, you know, you kind of don’t know where how that timeline’s going to take its course. He responded really well. He worked really hard to get back. I thought he played really well out there. Um you know, I thought he responded really well. I think u you know, you can talk about a couple of these guys. Blake group Blake, you know, he comes off of, you know, the game where, you know, he misses a couple ops, he goes out there and just kicks it awesome all game. Four field goals put us in position. He gets so much credit for that. And so, uh, you know, I think the way these guys respond is, you know, the part that gets you excited. They respond to these adversity moments and they keep getting better. Just just off the injury, you know, you’re you’re coming back and u you get get hurt and you know, we finally had that group up in Buffalo and it’s like, “All right, let’s roll.” and then, you know, something happens and, you know, it’s it’s challenging. You got to deal with, you know, the unknown of when am I going to come back and I got to put a ton of work into this thing. And I thought it was awesome by him. There were some options. Uh, yeah, we felt like Typton had had a really good opportunity to get back there. we made some roster moves and so um just adjusted the roster a little bit and so um you know Devin ended up being our third running back and so Typton had an opportunity to be the returner. Thought he ran hard. I thought there were some positives in there. I’m excited to see him grow in that area and so uh we’ll see how it all progresses. from last week, this week. Yeah, I thought the one drive we scored a touchdown was a good example. We ran the football really well. I think we stayed on course. Um, you know, the other ones, you know, you end up in third downs, you don’t convert, you know, and so we got to find a way to handle those third down situations. they were positive. You know, they were manageable third downs. They weren’t third and longs like the previous week or two. And so, um, yeah, obviously, you know, I got I got to keep digging and finding a better solution for us. And so, uh, because that’s ultimately what we need to accomplish. We’re moving the ball fine within the mixed downs. We got to finish these drives. Yeah. We all get to grow from each experience. I mean, shoot, we’re not all going to be perfect. We’re not all going to come out here and play the greatest game of football we’ve ever played at a young age. And so, um, these guys keep growing. They have the right mindset. Uh, they they know that, hey, I get to grow from each and every experience. The good ones that may have happened two weeks ago, the bad ones that are the challenging ones that may come this week or the following weeks. Um, they get to grow each and every time. And so, I think they’re wired the right way. They know how to respond to these situations. And, uh, those keep competing. Do you agree with that assistant? Yeah, I think I think we’re always evolving. We’re always trying to get better. We’re trying to find the best possible solution to be successful. And so, um, that’s what we all do collectively, you know. We try and play better, coach better, improve in every aspect. And so that’s what um that’s what you take from each Monday. We come in here and you know we look at it from a player perspective, from a coach perspective, from a preparation perspective and say what margins can we improve in all three categories. And so um you know I think everyone takes ownership of it in their own area. And that’s what I love about this group is our group really takes ownership, responsibility. They want to get better. They focus on the task at hand. Um, you know, we’re pretty much to the 24-hour rule now, so this thing’s got to be move on and get to the next one. All right. Thanks, guys.

Hot Gobbage
We ended that game with a lost so I hope that’s not how we starting the next week
Saints will get better. Moore did a great job play calling on offense and Rattler good starting quarterback
Awesome, another presser with no audio from reporters. How hard is it to pass around a mic?
Juwan Johnson is the absolute reason we lose games and NOBODY respects this defense omg it stinks
Mic up the media for the love of Christ
The reporters don’t ask the right questions.
Moore doing a good job
Way too many close contests, that has to be “wrenched out” & as soon as we stop inventing on new ways to lose a game then maybe we can start winning games.
Guess what we face da bears with our old HC as defensive coordinator so we gots to show up & stop messing around out there picking Daisys, chasing butterflies & giving each other sunflowers Saints! Let’s Geaux Saints & let’s get it Who Dats & HOLD DA LINE! 🏈😎
Kells was in his bag this game to bad we didn’t execute! This roster letting him down
Thank you. Coach Moore..
Someone should ask the question, hey coach! How does it feel to suck!
😅
Only 2 plays away again
Moore says the same shit every fuckin week it’s a joke !!! You’re terrible coach
It’s awesome week in week out hearing Moore praise the other teams Qb because you’re getting dog walked by every fucking team
The defense is a problem
Stalbird our 3rd and long LB
Patriot is a very good team and even beat current one of top 3 teams -Buffalo Bills!
Good work Coach Moore and company, good work Rattler and the offense(except Juwan Johnson). Defense was rough, but keep on Coach! Some of us know that we are officially in a rebuild year and we are gonna struggle, it is what it is just keep doing y'alls job!
Yada, yada, yada “some good things” yada, yada, yada “navigate” yada, yada, yada
Week 7: no change, repeat
We still have the smell of Micheal Thomas cancer in the wide receiver room… olave has the smell on him. Unfortunately he is seeping onto shaheed. Rattler threw a ball at the end shaheed didn't make an attempt on. Olave is soft and it's bleeding onto shaheed. If the ball isn't in the bread basket no plays being made
I hope we run Kendre 30 times against Dennis.
It's coming together. Give it time.
Where the true fans at!
Now would be a good time to bench rattler
Been saying this was a mulligan year for Kellen…..not really expecting much next year just improvement….if the team doesn't improve in the next 3 years that's on him
Is not who he is advertised to be, oh yeah give some thanks to Staley the Ned Flanders of DC's oh and Galliano the Mr. Magoo of STC… Done with this group of losers!!
