Minnesota Vikings News Dump (10.17.2025) | Wentz REVENGE, Darius Frost, Greenard Limited?

[Music] What’s going on, Jeromes? Beautiful Friday. Birds are chirping and stuff, and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, uh, of course, the talk of, uh, Viking social media yesterday was the the Justin Jefferson undercover as Darius Frost, right? It’s the whole Eli Manning series on Amazon. Basically, it’s uh, Chad Powers. Yeah. uh where Eli dressed up Penn State, I think it was James Franklin. He fired. Uh now it’s a a movie with the the jerk from Top Gun Maverick. It’s going to be good. But Justin Jefferson apparently did up an episode of him dressed up as Darius Frost, a a hapless photographer out here taking some head shot. And there’s some funny pranks on assistants uh as well as a flag football team in St. Paul. So, you know, check that out over on Amazon. But, of course, Quy Quay shows up for the head shot. We saw Hillary’s comment. It’s free agency up top and then the draft on the bottom. Uh, but I I’ll set up Quy coming in with Andy Canudis, Team Photto, New Jack City. That’s right, man. But, uh, you know, Jefferson was taking these pictures and eventually Qu is like, “Oh, snap. I know who that is.” because whoever did the makeup prosthetics did a a damn good job with Jefferson here. It’s really good, right? And Qu uh Jefferson was even like, I have the same teeth as Justin Jefferson, Darius Frost was. Yeah. But either way, it was some good content that that was needed off the buy. Good times. Also, speaking of Jefferson, aka Darius Frost, NFL top selling jerseys in Europe in September. Jefferson numero uno. It helps that the Vikings uh did play two games over in Europe, one in Dublin, one in London. Uh but also I feel like it speaks to Mr. Worldwide. Oh, Pitbull move over the pride of LSU is there and good to go. Uh Parsons, whatever. Lamar Jackson, yes. Amra, whatever. Josh Allen, yeah, Cooper Deene, that’s right. Uh Bern with the Colts, which you know makes sense. Where is he even with the Colts anymore? And I have to look this up because it’s gonna bother me. Bern Bern or did he retire like a long time ago? Pretty sure he’s 35. Yeah, I was going to say this doesn’t make sense. Uh he is with he is co-owner and sports director of the Berlin Thunderf or something. Uh yeah, so he retired in 2016, so like a decade ago, but I love that. Baron Verer, the pride of Berlin, uh then came over, played high school in Connecticut, went to Florida State, uh had a nice little run with the Colts, former first round pick, good to go. Can’t believe I thought that he was still in the league. Uh but of course, you never know. Miles Garrett, respect. U Mike Evans, that’s weird. So, even before all these international games, there’s a big Buccaneers and Dolphins contingent in Europe. I don’t know why. And they got Jaylen Herz, whatever. Especially whatever after this week. Uh, injury report second of the week for the Vikings and the Eagles. Uh, Philly relatively healthy. Jaylen Carter limited. He should be good to go on Sunday. Landon Dickerson, same thing. Limited, limited with the ankle. Uh, Quinny Mitchell went from limited to full. Now, even though this is true, he’s not going to be 100%. So they got to test him vertically early and often. Just really have him get some cardio in. There you go for the Vikings. So some things noteworthy, something’s not. Uh so Darasaw uh his usual DMP on Thursday, veteran day, maintenance day. So no no must have fuss there. Grard went from full on Wednesday to limited on Thursday. Listed a hamstring. Now this could be more of a veteran maintenance day. Hopefully that’s going to be the case. Uh, a couple players were limited limited Wednesday, Thursday. T with a hip. JJ McCarthy with ankle even though he’s working back in. Uh, I think that means that Carson Wentz is going to be starting as he’s been full full. Uh, then also Brian O’Neal and Andrew Van Ginkle, both limited limited with a knee and neck respectively. I’m not sure if they play on Sunday, but the fact that they’re just getting some work in is a good sign for the future. Maybe as soon as Thursday Night Football next week. Then uh players that were full uh batting Cashman still on IR the 21day return to practice windows open. Cashman likely reportedly going to be playing on Sunday. That’s going to be a huge boost for the Vikings trying to stop the Eagles run game. Also Donovan Jackson with the wrist surgery uh went from limited to full. He’s going to be there on Sunday. Jurgens TBD who starts at center. Then Carson Wentz like we said Carson Wentz’s been a badass man. It’s fantastic. But with Gernard, hopefully Gernard is good to go and it is just a veteran maintenance day. Uh this from this point out by Al Cusy athletic. Jonathan Gernard has recorded an average time to pressure of 2.34 seconds this season. The quickest mark among defensive linemen with at least 15 total pressures. Gernard has generated more pressures in under 2.5 seconds 12 than any other Vikings pass rusher has total pressures. Opposing offenses have attempted to slow Gernard as he has been chiplocked 17 times while all the other the Vikings pass rush forers have been chipped 23 combined times. Now I I know a lot of people piss moaning like well if he’s so good how come he’s only got one sack. Now we always say this like a sack is like winning a raffle right there there’s a little bit of puck luck involved there but pressures are the number of tickets you have in the raffle and the more pressures you get the more tickets you have the better chance you have of hitting the jackpot. All right. So, I think pressures uh pressures are there. Sacks will come. I’m not worried about Grenard at all, but hopefully New Hampshire is indeed good to go. But with Wentz, so uh this is from Matt Zenitz, CBS Sports, the current expectations is that Carson Wentz will start at quarterback this week for the Vikings against Eagle Souses. Tell CBS Sports. J McCarthy ankle has now returned to practice for Minnesota, but Wentz is in line to start Sunday versus former team. While McCarthy is back practicing for the Vikings, sources have told CBS Sports that the that Minnesota is easing him back into things coming off the ankle injury and that it’s been Wentz leading the way with the first team offense. Now, perfectly understandable, especially since it is his plant foot that is the high ankle sprain. So, that that really dictates mechanics as well as accuracy. And Kevin McConnell said that they’re not going to put him out there till he’s 100% 100%. So, that makes sense. No, that does not lead into soft benching, but also it helps that Carson Wentz has been playing phenomenally. Also, the offensive line is going to be getting healthier and healthier. I mean, by the time JJ McCarthy returns, they they may be up relatively up to full strength, you know, depending what happens with Ryan Kelly. But Carson Wentz, so Carson Wentz is a great story, man. you know, grew up as a Vikings fan, pride North Dakota, Vikings territory, and been a journeyman, bounced around, and now he’s set up for the Eagles revenge game where he was kind of in J McCarthy’s shoes, but of course, like a macro version cuz Carson Wentz was playing in a second year, 2017, playing at MVP level before he tore his ACL against the Rams. Uh, BDN, Nick Fos, uh, came in allegedly led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win. I don’t know what stadium. Yeah. Uh, but Carson Wentz now has a chance for vengeance. Plus, the way that he fought through that shoulder injury and then went nine for nine against one of the best defenses in the league, throwing the game winner, Jordan Addison. Woo! Woo! Let’s go, man. Let’s go. Fire. And here here’s the thing, too. You can support Carson Wentz. You can also think that JJ McCarthy needs a start when he’s fully healthy. That’s where I’m at. like he so th this is very similar to trying to think of a situation where where it comes down but full throat support uh behind one of the quarterbacks. Nah, team first. And if you think you can win a a Super Bowl with Carson Wentz, I am in. And maybe it’s shaping up to look like that cuz if Carson Wentz uh continues to play steady, gets rid of the football, doesn’t hang on to the ball too long and take sacks, uh, and the offensive line gets healthy, that defense is able to stop the run. And one of the best ways to stop the run is have a double- digit lead. Have your offense put up points, make sure that the other team can’t just pound the piss out of the football, you’re going to be good. Uh, but Carson Wentz revenge game. 400 yards, four touchdowns. What do you know for Mikey O. Let’s go, man. It’s gonna be good. Also with JJ. This is interesting. Kevin Seafford, ESPN, who’s not Carl Gerber, likely didn’t make a material difference in his recovery timeline. Oh. Uh, so so I I’ve been told that, um, one of my sources who knows Kevin Seafford, uh, he he knows about the bit and he’s very confused. He knows what he did. Anyways, likely didn’t make a material difference in his recovery timeline, but JJ McCarthy said that he experienced swelling in his ankle after flying eight hours to Dublin. He spent a few days trying to get everything figured out. Another inconvenience of a trip that won’t be repeated. Now, we had said if he’s not going to play, if he’s not going to practice, leave him home to rehab. Now, I I fully understand the intangible stuff here where the building up camaraderie like once in a lifetime experience with his teammates like you he can’t put a price tag on that. Sure. But you have to know I mean everyone knows that your feet swell during long flight hell even short flights, right? And especially two long flights there and back like you know it wasn’t going to help things, right? I’m sure that McCarthy’s got like a hyperbaric chamber. He’s got those leg things like LeBron’s got and I don’t know it like there there was a trade-off here. Uh but I Flaccco Flacco’s dealing man although they have a six-point lead right now 5’11 left in the fourth quarter 30-24 Bengals and six-point lead is the most worthless lead in football but I digress. Uh anyways, but McCarthy, you know, it was a trade-off there. And I I don’t know. Did it slow down things marketably? Probably not. But also didn’t help. So there you go. Also, to get injured, guys, I love Brian O’Neal on sidelines hyping up Walter Rouse after the game, winning touchdown. Uh, and remember Walter Rouse had to go in cold where Justin School was at right tackle and then Darasaw came out late in the game pitch count and then school went to left tackle. Walter Rouse came in at right tackle and that’s Brian O’Neal’s spot and he shut down Stonewall. One of the best pass rushes in the in the National Football League. Love it. Absolutely love it, man. So, love uh Brian O’Neal hyping up his guy Walter Rouse. Frankly, I would start Rouse over Justin school at this point, but whatever. Uh, also this is great. Elliot Shore Parks. Now, I do not know this man. Also, Joe Flacco keep an eye on the read option. Let’s go. Uh, but this just seems Yeah, you know, there there’s a whole scourge of AI written sports content now. This feels like that. You know what I mean? So, Eagles Vikings rooster breakdown. Here’s how I view the two roosters heading into Sunday’s game. No injuries uh and current form taken into consideration. What do you mean current form? This soccer writer. Uh but so the Vikings quarterback’s bad. Jaylen Herz average to elite. Running backs Eagles. Yes. Tight ends Eagles. Ah, I’ll take Hawinson and Oliver over Goddard, you know. Uh, wide receivers. Oh, the Eagles have better wide receivers than the Vikings. Oh, Riri. Oh, Riri. So, Jordan Addison game-winning touchdown. Also, Addison and Addison and Jefferson combining for, you know, 167 yards a game since Addison’s been back. Oh, yeah. Justin freaking Jefferson. Jaylen Naylor has been really damn good. Yeah, you’re telling me that AJ Brown seldom used AJ Brown. Devonte Smith. Okay. Okay. offensive line, Eagles, even the Eagles offensive line’s been bad this year. Yeah. Uh, and the Vikings have been pretty makeshift, but they’re getting healthy at the right time. Dline, Vikings, I mean, maybe, but I mean, like the Eagles defensive line is pretty damn good. I Jordan Davis, Jaylen Carter when he’s not being suspended, it’s good. Linebackers, sure. Cornerbacks, I mean, the Eagles quarterback room is decimated stuff. and coach uh slightly Nick Serriani over Kevin. Nick Serriani couldn’t coach a Pop Warner football team. If he didn’t have good coordinators, if he didn’t have Fangio, get out of here. Get out of here. H how much of a football genius you have to be to let’s call the tush push four times in a row. Let’s do that. Yeah. Uh oh, and lastly, this is great, too. So, after the Lions pooped themselves on national TV against the Chiefs, you know, a lot of Lions fans, a lot of complaints, you know, the Brian Branch extracurriculars, you got Dan Skipper calling out people on Twitter. It’s kind of funny, but uh so a Lions account is basically saying blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah complain about the refs. Well, I mean, they kind of have a point. I mean, the Chiefs didn’t have any penalties, which is kind of an anomaly, but uh the Chiefs fan, this is the worst fan base I’ve ever seen. L M AO. And my thing with the whole with the Lions fan base is that I I was fine with him for basically my entire life until Dan Campbell came in and they basically turned things around. Like Dan Campbell was going to be fired. Like they they started like one and five, one and six somewhere in there. They turned things around. Didn’t make the playoffs, but they beat the Packers to knock the Packers out of the playoffs. And then all the chest thumping, all the hooting, all the hollering came in. all of the I don’t know just like the Lions are for lack of a better term they’re bullies and bullies hate it when you when you punch them in the face and then they cower away then they’re complaining about bullying themselves it’s ridiculous man soft team soft fan base all this fake bravado they should have won the Super Bowl when they blew that lead out in Candlestick well candlestick 2 electric bugaloo Levi Stadium whatever it is uh against the 49ers. And they would have boat raced the Chiefs in that Super Bowl, by the way. So, their Super Bowl window’s closed, shut, it’s done. And now all they have is a shell of a team, a coach who doesn’t punt, uh, jacked up ticket prices, and memories of what could have been, could have, would have, should have. It’s okay. Yeah. Uh, but leave it to the Lions fan base. Like how bad do you have to be to have America side with the Chiefs fans? Ah, it’s bad, man. Yeah. Anyways, that’s it. That’s at Vikings news dump for this beautiful, glorious Friday. You guys are the best. You know what to do. Skull production value.
