"He's frustrated, disappointed. He wants a championship here for him and his family. They believed, many times, that we had a chance to do something…he knows, opportunity lost for all of us."
Cashman continues on what it takes to win a World Series:
"We've done it, Hal Steinbrenner has done it, but it's not a guarantee that you're going to continually do it.
All you can count on is putting together a strong process with really good people, try to get as many quality players that care and are committed, can stay healthy, play to the best of their abilities…and keep trying to do it again and again and again and again and again.
It is really difficult to do. It's easy to talk through, but for those guys in the competition, it's something that we aspire to do once again."

Ohhh he wants a championship.. man he really shown it by keeping you, that dinosaur front office and Boone fucking employed. Same shit different toilet every year since basically 2010
“thanks cash for getting us 5 playoff games at the stadium”
“It’s not a guarantee that you’re going to continually do it.”
Yet the Dodgers and Astros have made and won multiple World Series in the last decade. Math isn’t mathing Brian.
Must have been an awkward phone call.
*Hey Hal, it’s me Cash. [Pause] Oh yeah? Wow that sounds nice. Hey, not sure if you’ve seen the news yet, but the team lost last night. They’re eliminated.*
Sounds like a fucking loser
He doesn’t even show up in the stadium. Something he didn’t learn from his father.
Loser owner, loser gm, loser manager. Nothing will change
I think if Cash and Hal were honest they would choose 10 straight playoff appearances over a championship
Garbage, if he wanted one you wouldn’t be the person talking in that chair right now.
It used to be, WORLD SERIES or bust.
Now, it’s playoffs or bust.
How many fucking chances does this guy get?!?! It’s completely maddening.
Oh brother this guy sucks.
Dude is just going thru the motions at this point in his lifetime appointment.
Cashman out here looking Turtly enough for the Turtle Club
Was Hal even at the games this postseason?
Do these boneheads not realize that going to the World Series would be extra good for business?
I get that as far as the books are concerned, they have a winning financial formula. The Yankees print money. Imagine how many money printers they could have if they just went on a tear?
These post season meetings feel more like quarterly reports for large corporations. It lacks passion or a true desire to be the best. Just good enough to get some post season money and call it a season. I miss George fuming at the end of a non World Series winning season.
Man I would kill to have this job security. Cashman can walk right now to Hals house, smack his wife in the ass, drink his expensive wine and put his feet up to watch Netflix and Hal would give him a new contract and raise his salary.
Hal is one of those “part time” owners who doesn’t really care as along as the profits keep coming in.
He signs the checks every month, takes a glance at the P&L sheets and carries on with his day.
You should probably talk to your GM and his army of nerds about their process in July when the person you are paying to be your shortstop has 1 working arm and he’s playing every day and costing you a division title if you and your family actually give a shit…but what do I know.
This tool should be fired for body language alone.
Blah blah blah
All due respect, if the priority of any business or corporation is to make as much money as possible, his deadpan delivery kinda makes it seem like we didn’t win, ho hum, we’ll try next year. Secretly, he and Hal are swimming in all the freaking money the franchise continues to make annually. It doesn’t seem like they’re that upset. I’m not the biggest fan of his, but the team has regularly contended which is more than most, and unlike the Mets and all that drunken spending, at least they made the playoffs.
Just like clockwork…if we had a nickel for everytime Cashman talks about playoffs being a crapshoot we could probably just pay him to fuck off and never set foot in the building ever again
I wonder if Michael Kay hit his head under the desk.
I was a Braves fan as a kid in the 90s and I remember being afraid of the Yankees and I didn’t like George (even though I had only heard his name) because he always got the best players and did whatever it took. No one is afraid of the Yankees anymore.
Were supposed to be the fucking new york yankees, not the white sox. This mentality is bullshit and i cant believe the organization has leaned so hard into being ok with mediocrity
Remember when Cashman built the 1996 Dynasty? Neither do I, because he inherited it.
“He wants wagyu steak, but only wants to pay chuck steak prices.”
Cash may need his T levels checked.
We lost any chance we had when we didn’t get Yamamoto and re-signed Soto. We’re gonna be living in purgatory for the rest of Judge’s career. How are we ever going to beat the Dodgers?
Please retire. If you like and care about this franchise, retire.
Cashman hasn’t built a world series team without the core 4.
Cashman hasn’t developed quality hitters or positional players around Judge save for Rice and we’ll see on Jasson.
Cashman hasn’t gone after quality FA and settled for stopgaps and bargain bin pieces despite Hal willing to open the check book if needed.
Cashman hasn’t stepped away from the TTO philosophy on hitting, something that doesn’t work for everyone because not everyone has power to make it work.
He doesn’t know how to build a world series team. 2024 had a white hot Stanton and Soto duo combined with good quality production from Gleyber and Volpe.
FA missed out on
Harper, Machado, Brantley, Seager
Without Judge, the I don’t know if Cashman would still be here.
Show me a good loser, I’ll show you a fucking loser.
That’s why he keeps his job. Hal doesn’t give a fuck, but Cash sits there for 2 minutes and talks him up/bores everyone to death. And the cycle will keep repeating itself every October after the team falls short.
Hal doesn’t give a shit. He’s been referred to as the Human Calculator.
Hank was the one who actually cared.
Get rid of this SOB!!
Same sad tune
