Daniels is the worst offensive player in the NBA, and Atlanta’s defense and net rating last year was worse with him on the court than off.
That is mostly because he played in the same rotations as Trae Young. But it still means that Daniels’s defense is not good enough to offset Young’s defense; while Daniels’s offense is more than bad enough to offset Young’s offense.

He’s great on defense. That was never in question. It was always his offensive abilities which made him expendable. That’s a MASSIVE contract for essentially a one way player
