Haliburton: The camera was in the locker room when I got hurt. The people at Netflix are so amazing. They allowed [Zachery] Remy, who is my photographer and my videographer who does all my content, to help film clips that also went to Netflix that they could then use. So that moment wasn’t a moment where I would want cameras in there. But because Remy is one of my best friends, he was there. I was so overwhelmed that I never even knew he was in there. I never knew any of those clips would go out because I didn’t know the cameras were in there at all.
Even when I got to see and “approve” the final episode to see if everything was OK that was in there, it was really tough for me to watch seeing me get hurt. But I didn’t know they had those clips. We never spoke about it. So when I saw that, I got overwhelmed again. I think that made it even tougher. That is a very tough and private moment for me — one of the hardest moments of my life.
So for people to see that, I’m thankful that Remy was in there, and I’m thankful people get to see it. I don’t want to ever come across that I was ever doing anything for the camera or that it wasn’t real or genuine. Everything in there was real. It’s really who I am. I just tried to be my authentic self. I think I did a good job of that.

Hurts man hurts. It hurts as us fans of the NBA and fans of the insane run they went on, but damn the bloodcurdling cries after going down and just him pounding the floor… i genuinely hope he can earn a ring some day, for his sake and ours
It really sucks we were robbed of a generational Game 7
Still in disbelief that we had 3 Achilles tears in the Playoffs.
the scene included in the opening where James Johnson is carrying him in his arms back into the locker room is so vulnerable.
havent made it to this part in the series but really curious how much gets shared (even sounds like Remy and Haliburton might have more footage that didnt get shared/make the cut). i know Lowe brought up some of what he’d heard from assistant coaches, about the swing in his energy back in the locker room and Carlisle maintained that Tyrese’s mood was defiant and uplifting through it all. Nesmith touched on Haliburton being positive as well.
OKC played like shit for 3 of 4 quarters that game. Hali was popping off. The worst what-if in recent memory…
I had a hard time rooting for Tyrese’s success in the playoffs, because it just dug the knife of where we’re at as a franchise in a little deeper. By the Finals, I was over all that, and wanted him to bask in the glory he earned. Watching him come out and drain those 3’s to start Game 7, I had no doubt that we were all going to see a guy play the game of his life, win or lose. It’s the possibility of games like that that keep you roped into sports, no matter how disappointed you become in the teams you choose. I don’t pity Indiana fans, because they got to witness an undeniably magical run, but goddamn… that injury was a gut check unlike any other.
It was crazy, everyone watching just collectively felt the hype leave the court as soon as it happened. Actual generational game 7 potential
If you don’t think Tyrese is a real one then you aren’t a real one. Ba da boom realest pacer in the room.
As an OKC fan, the way game 7 started off for Hali, I was sure we were going to lose. It simultaneously tucked and was a relief when he got hurt.
The people’s champion
One of my favorite players in the league.
Is this season of Starting 5 better than last season? The storyline of pacers 24-25 season in itself was one of the best NBA storyline I’ve ever seen. From Haliburton being clowned on after the Olympics to the heroic efforts in the playoffs, can’t wait to watch that story play out.
Imagine having front seat tickets to game 7 and watching your son flop face hard in the first quarter, erasing his moment to shine.
Will Netflix show the injury 50 times like ESPN did?
Nothing but love for Hali always, such a good guy and great competitor
I really want to watch this series but I’m not sure if I’m ready yet or not. The way game 7 went down is still a tough pill to swallow for everyone in Indy
Great footnote here by Hali. I just watched this part in the show and was thinking how annoying and frustrating it had to have been to have to go through this with the netflix cameras in your face, but knowing now it was his best friend is great to hear.
“approve” the final episode, yeah this is not real doc filmmaking lol
He doesn’t tear that Achilles we win that game.
Goat shit
Preventing injuries should be the #1 priority for the NBA right now. It’s damaging the product so badly. The playoffs are starting to feel like whichever team doesn’t get hurt, wins. That is not a meta I want to watch in any capacity. NBA needs to get its ish together or we are all going to be watching the Saudi league soon.
It’s crazy to me that some NBA star players are constantly being filmed
