I Have A MAJOR CONCERN About The Miami Heat
[Music] Well, Heat fans, I am officially concerned. I have been pushing this off, but with how the Heat preeason has progressed, I think it’s time to tell you guys that I am not feeling good about the start of the season. They’ve been playing bad in the preseason and the record doesn’t really mean that much to me, but the way that this team has looked, especially in the first half offensively, is a tad bit concerning. The Heat have had a bottom 10 offense in the NBA in each of the last four years. We were hoping to see a difference this season with a more uptempo, fast-paced offense. Well, we are seeing a more paced offense. They rank eighth out of the 34 preseason teams. You might ask, how is there 34 preseason teams? Well, this accounts for the stats for the four overseas teams that have played in the NBA preseason. So, they rank in the top 10. Good, but they rank in the bottom 10 of everything else. Points per game, field goal percentage, three-point percentage, offensive rating. And the part that is the most concerning to me is actually the three-point percentage. That is my big concern here because I talked about the pace needing to improve and a faster uptempo heat offense and team in general will give themselves more margin for error because they will get more shots. They will get more opportunities and potentially more open looks. But even with how the Heat have played so far, they’ve turned the ball over a ton. And the three-point shots have not been falling. And that might be more of a catalyst because of the roster construction being a little bit wonky more than the tempo being where it should be. I’m scared about this three-point offense. Are you concerned about the Heat? We have less than one week until real games begin on Wednesday, October 22nd between Miami and Orlando. Are you concerned? Type C for concerned or type F if you are fine? Am I overreacting? I don’t know. Like there’s a realistic chance I am and I’m looking too deep and in depth at these advanced stats of the Heat offense to this point and I usually don’t care about the preseason. After the first two or three games when people are asking me, are you worried about the Heat not winning a game? Like it’s preeason. Like what do I care? But with the Heat offense being bottom five, bottom 10 in the NBA preseason, I think I’ve got to be concerned. How can you not be? The Heat have been a bottom five offense in each of the last four years, ranking 27, 28, 27, 29 in almost every respectable NBA offensive statistic. So yes, I am a little concerned about it. And Norman Powell was actually asked about the offensive struggles that have taken place so far. His response, I think we’re trying to figure it out, trying to get the things together and how we want to play the identity of the team offensively, defensively. We’re learning the rotation stuff still. We haven’t had a set lineup. We’re just trying to learn the spacing, the cuts, the reads offensively. And I do think that is fair. Like this team, when you actually boil down the roster, have really never played together that often. Think about the Heat’s projected starting five of DaVon Mitchell, Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Yovic, and Bameio. Well, Yoic missed the final two months of the regular season. So, he never really played with Andrew Wiggins before. He really never played with Norman Powell. Obviously, he never played with DaVon Mitchell. You’re talking about three guys there that were either deadlight acquisitions and Yich got hurt a week after or someone added in the off season. And when you think about that fiveman lineup or whoever the Heats roll out there to start the season, they really haven’t played together outside of the preseason. So I do believe Norman Powell to a degree that there will be growing pains and this Heat offense might not catch his stride until a month or two months into the season once they have played together for more than 15 20 games and understand each other’s weaknesses, strengths, and how each other sees the game of basketball. But that’s also why you have practice. So, I’m a little concerned by how these guys aren’t gelled. And you also factor in that you’re without Tyler Herro for the first month of the season due to that foot injury. Well, the Heat offense might really struggle due to that lethargic start of not knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses and then not having your best overall offensive player. Like I truly do believe we might see a real slow start to the season for Miami offensively. So the Heat are going to have to win basketball games like they have over the past five, six years. Lowcoring for the most part, but the first 10 games of the season for Miami are really, really difficult. You play an Orlando Magic team that projects to be amongst the top of the Eastern Conference and an elite defensive team. You play Memphis, who might be without John Morant. We’ll see. Dealing with that injury. You play the Knicks, a top team in the East. Then you get a game against the Hornets where you can win, but then you play the Spurs on the road. That will be a tough game. The Lakers and Clippers on the road, two tough games, although LeBron will likely miss that game in Los Angeles. Denver, who we haven’t beat in Denver since I think I was still in high school. The Hornets at home again, and the Blazers at home. So, there are a couple winnable games. the two Hornets games, the Blazers game, but like where do the wins come from when they’re on the road in Orlando, Los Angeles, Denver, San Antonio? I’m extremely nervous of this Heat team starting the year 2 and 8, three and seven. Like, nothing is guaranteed in the NBA. and the Heat certainly don’t have a roster to where you can guarantee wins against the Blazers or Hornets. Despite those two teams being projected lower than us this year and having a higher draft pick when it’s all said and done, there’s no guarantee you’re able to take care of business and win all three of those games. So, like, where do the wins come from? I said a month ago I would be happy with five and five or I’d be really happy with six and four in the first 10 games of the year. I’ll stand by that. If the Heat are able to go 500 in the first 10 games of the season, I think that would be a massive win. It would. If you can go three and 0 against the Hornets and Blazers in those three games and then go two and uh what would it be? Two and five in the other seven. I think that would be a good start to the year with the injuries that you’re facing and the lack of connectivity and what’s the other word? Cohesive. That was the word. at a boycott. That is the stuff that concerns me. It does. Hopefully I’m wrong though. More coming up here in a second. But this episode is brought to you by Prize Pix. You and I make decisions every single day. The right decisions on Prize Pix can get you paid where it’s good to be right. So simple to play. Just pick more or less on at least two player stats. If you get your picks right, you could cash in. They allow you to stack now, which is really cool. You could take uh single player, three different stat totals in one lineup. Whether it’s BAM, rebounds, points, assists, you can do them all. They’re also offering a max discount for the opening games on Tuesday. More than Steph Curry, half a point. Pair that up with any other player stat total and you can cash in. Download the Prize Fix app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. I talked about the three-point concern that I had and how Miami is shooting. What is the number exactly again? 30.1% 26th out of 34 teams in the preseason. Remember, you lost Duncan Robinson. You don’t have Tyler Hero. You lost your two best three-point shooters and space creators for at least the first month of the season. Duncan’s obviously not coming back, but Hero’s out for the first month. So, who is going to be able to space the floor, create an ability to knock down three-point shots at a consistent level and keep the flow of the offense rolling. As we take a look at some of the three-point shooting numbers in the preseason on an individual basis, it is as ugly as you can imagine. Like Bameio shooting 16.7%. The most disappointing one of them all, Simone Fonteio, who you got back in that Duncan Robinson deal, has been abysmal on the offensive end to this point, shooting 12 and a half% from three on four attempts a night. Like Miami simply isn’t going to be able to survive the early parts of this regular season or entire season if their top guys shoot this poorly from three. Norman Powell sub 40. Andrew Wiggins below average at 33.3%. Like your top three guys are Drew Smith who is not a high volume three-point shooter. Hawz who is not a high volume three-point shooter and KL Wear who that likely isn’t going to continue throughout an 82 game season. Like who are you scripting three-point shots up for to really stress a defense from beyond the ark? Norman Powell and Simone Fonteo would be the usual answers, but Powella has even had a little bit of a rough start from beyond the arc in the preseason. And Fonteo has been abysmal. So the Heat are really going to struggle from beyond the ark and miss a guy like Duncan Robinson. Would I have paid Duncan Robinson 15 a year? With where the Heat roster is right now and where they were financially, I can’t disagree with them not paying Duncan Robinson that money. I can’t. But you also have to realize the Heat three-point shooting heavily revolved around Duncan Robinson. I mean, they weren’t a good three-point shooting team a year ago, and Duncan almost attributed to half of the production from Beyond the Arc for Miami. So, you are a bad three-point shooting team a year ago. You lose your best three-point shooter. It’s obvious that you’re going to struggle from beyond the arc. You’re going to need Norman Powell to be a massive contributor from beyond the arc. You’re going to need an efficient Wiggins. You’re going to need Bam and Abio to provide more there. Some bench help as well. It’s It’s concerning. It really really is. We got more stats here which some fans might not like coming up a second. But make sure you are subscribed to the channel for daily heat content. Join the family. We’ll be live for Wednesday’s opening game against the Orlando Magic. So, join the channel and make sure those notifications are on as well. Now, I said it off the top. The Heat’s preseason record is 0 and5. They have not won a game yet. And how about this stat? It’s not the best stat for the Heat. The Heat have gone winless in the preseason only once. That happened in 2007. That year they finished with a 15 and 67 record, a top five pick where they obviously drafted the Kansas State wing Michael Beasley. Hopefully the Heat don’t do that again. That would be concerning. The Heat have a chance to get a win in the preseason tonight to not go winless. Hopefully they’re able to do that. But how about this as well? The Heat are reaching bad company during the last 10 seasons. 12 teams have lost at least five preseason games and won no more than one. The Heat are guaranteed to fall in this category, by the way. Even if they win their final game, they’d be 1 and five. Just four of those 12 teams made the playoffs. The 2022 23 Bucks, who had a really good regular season, 58-24. The 22-23 Lakers, who ended up going to the Western Conference Finals as a seven seed. the 15-16 Cavs. We know how that team ended up going. And the Mavericks who went 15 and 16 or excuse me, 1516 Mavericks who ended up going 42 and 40. So, not many teams have had the 1 and5 or worse preseason record and made the playoffs over the last decade. But, ironically enough, when you do make the playoffs, you end up doing really well. You had the Cavs win it all. You had the Western Conference Finals Lakers and you had the Bucks put up a really good regular season as well, but I’m going to go back to the three-point shoot. Like, I I’m not concerned about the preseason record because the starters have really only played a half. But when you watch the starters in the preseason at this point, you do watch how sometimes the offense can go in these stagnant lulls because of the lack of three-point shooting. Like the only player that opposing teams fear beyond the arc right now is Norman Powell. And that is very very fair. Like who else would you be concerned about? Wiggins has shot well so far in the preseason, but I’m not scared of him from beyond the ark. Not scared of Bam. Not scared of wear. I’m not even scared of Yovic. I wouldn’t want to leave him open. But they don’t strike fear into the hearts of you. Powell is the one who strikes fear into you. Tyler Herro strikes fear into you. Duncan Robinson struck fear into you. So like the lack of a people on the roster that can really stress a defense from three is very little. And until hero returns, as long as teams key in on Norman Powell and don’t allow him to go nuclear from three, I just don’t see a way this Heat team is a above average three-point shooting team when you combine volume and efficiency. And it’s going to be hard to be a good offensive team when you aren’t a good three-point shooting team. This is how the NBA is played nowadays. But we’ll see how it ultimately plays out. We’ll have coverage the entire NBA season live for most games. So, hit that sub button and join the Heat family today. [Music]

Heat haven’t won a game in the preseason only once, 2007. That year, they finished with a 15-67 record. During the past 10 seasons, 12 teams have lost at least five preseason games and won no more than one. Just four of those 12 teams made the playoffs: the 2022-2023 Bucks (0-5 followed by 58-24); the 2022-23 Lakers (1-5, followed by 43-39 and a Western Conference finals appearance as a seventh seed); the 2015-16 Cavaliers (1-6; 57-25) and the 2015-16 Mavericks (0-7; 42-40).

Not concerned at all! Let Jovic, Kel’el, and Jakuciones get minutes. Let this be a tanking season! 😂
3 point shooting problem? Ask Miami’s max contract player! 😅
This is still, at best, a +.500 team. The only way forward is discarding big contracts, development of our young players and gaining assets (mostly pics). Playing this season out trying to win with this roster would be a mistake
Concerned about what? That they might not eek out a 6 seed?
We’re 3 years off from contention at minimum.
C definitely
It’s so great that their $50 mill player can’t help any of their biggest issues. What an awful contract.
But sure remind us how great his defense is and what he did 4 years ago while all they accomplish in the present is losing games
I said it last season Bam CANNOT lead a franchise to a championship he is a overpaid second option!
Average players, average roster = Average record. 41-41
We beat Denver at home in the finals. Were you still in high school? lol
I really wanna be optimistic about the heat being a team that may avoid being a play in team or even being a team that could get to the 2 and round of the playoffs….and even though herro is arguably there best player this team should still be able to win games without him…. and I know preseason is preseason and regular season is regular season but at the end of day basketball is basketball…and if u can't win when it doesn't matter how can u win when it does matter….. just saying…
We heat fans know this but a lot of heat bloggers saying good things for viewers to subscribers but we already know we ain’t even making playoffs this year
BIG C
It’s a valid concern but Norman Powell answered it and it makes sense. Players are new to the system still and is still figuring things out. That takes a little time.
If Jovic, Ware, and Kasparas (and to a lesser degree Jaime and Pelle) play real minutes and get better this season is a success.
With Ware we have a kid that can realistically be a 25+/game scorer, that can protect the rim, rebound like a demon, block shots, defend the perimeter, blow by bigs in space. He could be dominant.
With Jovic and Kas we have a high level hub in the frontcourt and backcourt that will make things easy for Ware and others, can both defend, get downhill, and create overreactions on drives for their playmaking.
It’s a great beginning to a new look Heat. And if Jaime and Pelle can become legit rotation pieces, we have a young core that I will be extremely excited about..
It ant looking good Miami smh
Heat will lose to Trailblazers……..
Bye Tyler hero stinks always did and his wife needs to take the butt pads with her, dream girl Miami princess 😂😂😂😂😊❤😢😢😢😢😮
11:31 Hopefully,
They DO IT AGAIN Miami needs to tank.
there are players on the team that I like and want to keep…
But in terms of ⭐️ power I don’t see it and there’s no one on the roster I have UNWAVERING FAITH in unlike previous eras.
🗣️ TANK, and tank HARD!
Miami needs an Elite guard.
Darryn Peterson would be nice 🙏🏾📖✨
Yup, this team cannot shoot..this is my biggest concern.
Has Alex Burks signed anywhere?
Bro . It’s preseason🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
F – let our full team come together first but I'm not saying we're going to score lights out every night. Hero coming back soon …
We will know by the new year.
We need to lose fr fr get a draft pick
we will suck again. could have traded for Durant & had a great offensive game. fire pat riley
