“Win Every Day”: Inside Lakers Training Camp

We’re going to move on and have a great day. We got to bring the juice. We got to bring energy. All right. We’re going to have a great day. Let’s get on. Come on. You got it. On three. 1 2 3. Let’s go. Let’s go. To get to this level and play in the NBA, you naturally have to be obsessed with basketball and obsessed with your craft. I’m obsessed with just basketball in general. The beauty is you’ll never completely perfect it. You can always work on something individually, skill-wise, and then teamwise. You can always get better in some aspect. Every day, all day, you breathe, think, sleep, nightmare, everything is wrapped around basketball. Like that’s all you can think about. giving it your all every single day and just constantly thinking about it. You can’t sleep. You’re kind of like a little bit restless. I’m definitely obsessed with basketball, so I come in the gym and um you know, work my tail off and try to get better every day. I like the competitive nature of it. I like just being able to compete at the highest level. For this year’s group, our obsession is about stacking days and going into every day with the mindset of winning that day. Just getting into practice with the guys and hadn’t have many opportunity last season. So, I’m excited about practice. I love practice, you know, being able to, you know, coach implements that into us like just to compete at a high level. I treat practice like games, you know, um trying to bring that competitive edge, it definitely translate and carries over, you know, having that mindset, having that mentality, uh pushing each other to make each other better. The part of basketball I’m obsessed with is the competition for sure. I love playing, competing every day, and just trying to make each other better every day. Ready to compete, you know, practice to compete, you know. Let’s get to work. you know, coming in and doing what I’m supposed to do. By setting that tone with my presence and and what my energy, what I do allows everybody else to come on. Here we go, baby. Hey, good pass RJ. Big thing for our team this year will be communication and that’s going to be demanded on a daily basis. I like to pray for JJ. He was great with him last year. He he’s really straight with the team. So yeah, I like it. Just got to talk. The things are going to happen so fast. You got to let the big know. The big the bigs is supposed to be watching the ball. He doesn’t know to drop unless he absolutely hears you. Leave no doubt that he hears you. I’d say communication, energy, um, and attention to detail. Understanding that all these little things add up and move us towards our ultimate goal. Let’s keep talking a little bit more in these drills in practice. We don’t, it’s okay if we make mistakes, friends. Let’s talk to each other. Get our technique good. Makes sense, sir. Come on. Here we go. We’re focused on all the little details that it takes to, you know, have a good season and win at the highest level. You can’t skip steps. There’s too many good teams. There’s too many good players. Not good work, great work. Okay. Our ability to sustain our talk, our physicality, our running. We’re going to build that. We’re going to build that throughout the preseason. We’re going to build that start of the season. We’re going to be in great shape by by mid November. I believe that, right? We have to be committed to those things. Today was a great start. Today was a great start. It’s not about the result. It’s about the process and our input into everything we do. And that’s our habits. That’s our communication. And that’s what type of shape we’re in. That’s the beautiful thing about basketball is you can never, you know, have everything. You got to continue to work to get that.
