  1. Costas calling World Series on NBC. What a time to be alive.

Aside: does anyone know when we started playing “New York, New York” at the end of wins?

  2. Wow Costas really enjoys pointing out players that don’t run well. Haha! It was 25 years ago and I thought he was talking about Stanton again!🤣

  3. “Martinez doesn’t run well…but it’s not his fault!” – Bob Costas if this play happened in 2024

  4. As of 2025, the last MLB game broadcast on NBC, though it looks like that’s set to change next year

  5. NBC was so boring I’m glad this was their last game and they’ve been banished ever since.

  6. I believe Edgar Martinez was something like 11 for 13 against rivera, too. And obviously a NOTORIOUS yankee killer

  7. My feeling at the time was happy the Yankees won but knew the next series was going to be intense with so much to lose and little to gain.

The rivalry between Yankees and Mets fans was intense. Mets fans knew they were playing with house money and made it clear they had nothing to lose. As a Yankee fan, you just felt like a loss to the Mets would have erased 96-99. I know that doesn’t sound real knowing everything that’s happened since.
