Trevor Lawrence & Jourdan Lewis Recap Week 6 Loss to Seahawks | Jacksonville Jaguars

I mean, yeah, we just obviously didn’t play our best ball today. Um, a lot of mistakes, a lot of things that self-inflicted wounds like we talked about in the past. And yeah, so it’s just I mean, we got to clean it up. We got to be more detailed, you know, we we just can’t have so many penalties. We had a lot of drives where we started off negative and it’s just hard to play in second and third and long all game, you know. So, I think that’s the that’s the obvious, right? You know, we we’re doing some things some difficult things well and then we’re doing the simple thing. we’re messing up the simple things and having a lot of penalties and it’s just, you know, hard to sustain drives when you keep going backwards. So, you know, there’s some stuff we got to clean up. We got to look in the mirror and and fix the problems that have really been been there all year. You know, I feel like last week we did we did better with some of the penalties, but you know, it it showed up again this week, so we got to clean it up uh and and move forward. Liam said that there was a clear focus on throwing the ball going into the game, but in terms of the the discrepancy between the run and the pass. How would you evaluate balancing the two today? Um, yeah, I mean, I think that was definitely part of our plan was to knew going in that we’d throw it more, especially early on in the game. This is a this defense has done a good job of stopping the run and we felt like we had some opportunities on the outside and the perimeter to make some plays and uh so that was part of the plan. Obviously, you want to run it as well as you can as the game settles in or as you settle into the game and, you know, finding more opportunities there and, you know, I felt like I a lot of opportunities that I had where I could have taken some completions on first down and and helped keep us out of some second and long. So, I got to be better. I didn’t think I started the game great, you know, missed a couple throws and had some opportunities where I feel like I could have got backside and didn’t. So, um, yeah, I mean, there’s a lot of things out there that we didn’t take advantage of. I mean, obviously we did some things in the passing game well, but more consistency. You know, we first second down, we we weren’t great. Trevor Liam stood there and said, “It’s on him today.” What was his message to you guys in the locker room? Man, it’s on all of us. I mean, uh, as far as his message was was great with the team. I mean, it’s just accountability. All of us looking ourselves in the mirror and, you know, he said the same thing he said to you guys, he said to us. And, uh, it’s on all of us. It’s not it’s never on it’s never on him. It’s never on just one person. It’s never on, you know, it’s it’s all of us taking accountability and fixing the things that we can control. You know, I know that there’s a lot of things we that we did on offense today that um you know, it doesn’t have to do with coaching. It’s just, you know, players, you know, doing their job at the right time, including myself. Like, just do your job, progress, you know, make the play that’s there. Uh the penalty stuff, focus, attention to detail throughout the game. I mean, there’s things that we know better and we didn’t execute well today. So, um, it’s on all of us and I think that’s the that’s the first step is everybody taking accountability and hey, what can I fix? Don’t start pointing fingers and looking at anybody else. We all got plenty that we can fix. Hey Trevor, it seemed like today that the offense couldn’t get into a groove. What do you feel like went wrong there? And and and how challenging is it maybe when there’s pressure, there’s different things that are happening around you? Yeah, it can be challenging, but it’s the NFL and it’s you play good teams and you got to find a way to uh, you know, move the ball more consistently to start faster. You know, I think to start the game, they matched our first play really well as a good coverage for that play that we ran and they did a good job and didn’t have much there. Then the second play, you know, I didn’t progress on a on a quick game. They covered up the front side, didn’t get backside, and then ended up getting the holding cuz I scrambled super early and put Ezra in a tough spot. So, that’s an example of just something I can improve on. And from there, it felt like the first two drives, I think, that were three and out and just puts our defense in a tough spot. And, you know, putting them back on the field over and over again and and not getting points, not moving the ball, flipping the field, you know, that’s a big deal. So, there’s things where we got to clean up and start games faster. Trevor, six weeks in, I guess at this point, are you guys past the point of the newness of the offense, trying to like work with it, figure out how it runs, everything like that, and you know, in game situations and all that stuff, getting different looks. Are you guys beyond that at this point? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, this is uh this is this is our system. We know what it is. A lot of the stuff that you you have game plan stuff that’s new every week a little bit, but you know, we’re all comfortable in what we’re doing and uh on the same page. I think some of the procedural stuff as far as getting in and out of the huddle, getting up there was a lot better today, but then we had some penalties and some other things that, you know, haven’t necessarily showed up yet, but showed up today that we same thing. It’s going backwards though that we got to correct. But as far as the offense, I think, you know, guys know what to do and we know what we’re doing. We just have to have a little bit more focus at times and um not make the self-inflicted mistakes. Uh Trevor, seven sacks is one thing, but all those pressures, all the knockdowns and everything, when does this all does become psychological at that point for you when you when you’re going back on on a on a pass attempt like here they come again, that kind of thing? No, I mean that’s part of playing quarterback in the NFL. I mean, it’s uh you know, it’s tight pocket back there. Those guys are those guys on their side of the ball get paid to paid a lot of money to rush the passer and uh that’s their job. So there there’s times where that’s just part of it and you got to play through it and um you know, I thought we managed some of that well today at times. Made some plays down the field, but yeah, we got to clean it up. I thought there was some times where I could have been better in the pocket with some of my movement and not moving into some pressures. you know, that group on defense does a good job of moving around, you know, trying to pick our guys up front and, you know, it can it can make it messy at times. So, I got to be able to navigate in there and and make throws down the field and and find guys and get the ball in my hands when when necessary and, you know, not take quite as many sacks. Liam said it wasn’t just the penalties, it’s when they’re happening, they’re wiping out positive plays. Does that kind of feel like that’s what’s kind of been halting momentum sometimes? Yeah, I mean, that hurts. Today we had I think three or four big plays with a penalty and it gets called back and yeah that’s just it’s just the feeling of that momentum like ah now we’re going backwards 10 yards instead of having the 50 yard play or the touchdown you know to BT or whatever it is now we’re going backwards and it wipes out a you know a big play. So but we got to when that happens we still got to respond and find a way to go score but yeah you don’t want to wipe out those positive plays for sure. Trevor, how much do you think they took away some of the things you wanted to do, especially down the field with the 33 pressures and seven sacks? Uh, could you just not get to some of it? Um, yeah. I would say sometimes, yeah, obviously there’s you have shots and like I said, the defense is, you know, they’re trying to rush the pass or they’re playing coverage and sometimes you just don’t get the look that you that you need to throw the ball down field. And then, um, sometimes we had time and opportunity and they played the coverage where it just didn’t present itself. we had to check it down. So, I think there’s a a good mix of that, but um you know, we kind of they did what we thought they would do coming into the for the game. We just didn’t execute good enough. In terms of the penalties, and maybe this is more of a question for for coach than it is for you, but how do you stop like the the like you said, the boneheaded penalties at the line of scrimmage? Is it a matter of players getting together? Is it a matter of discipline? Like, how would you evaluate how you can counter it? Yeah, I mean it’s just everyone taking ownership of of their part of it. Look at today and and say all right, what if what can I do to improve this? How can I help, you know, the guy next to me or yourself or whatever. I think it’s more just focusing on what you can do as an individual. And I think that’s where some of the things might be more of just like a lapse in focus at a certain time that are little penalties like the offsides or whatever it is. It’s just, you know, that consistent focus throughout the game to where these things don’t show up. Besides that, you know, that’s we all know what they are and you got to fix them. It’s on us as players to just not do those things. I mean, at the end of the day, so you can only coach it so much. You know, you got to make the improvements and, you know, keep that focus throughout the game. Thanks, guys. Hey, Jordan, just um from your vantage point, how would you evaluate how the defense did today? Um we didn’t win, so um yeah, that’s uh that’s number one. Um when you don’t win, we don’t any other evaluation really doesn’t matter. Um but you know our process um was well it went good this um this this week but at the end of the day we didn’t execute to our our best ability. It was still some plays out there that you know me personally I wish I would have had back um especially at touchdown look back early or anything like that. So uh give give my chances uh to help the team win. So um yeah those little plays um we need to get nipped in the bud but shoot um it wasn’t good enough to win. Did it seem like it came down to maybe just a couple of those explosives, the 61 yard and then the one near the end of the game? No. Um I just feel like we didn’t we weren’t you know on our our P’s and Q’s to to start the game. So we was kind of um behind the eightball from the beginning. So when we weren’t on our um our communication and you know executing to where our best ability um that’s that’s when big plays happen and you know little leaky yards happen. Jordan, how would you evaluate the play of the corners rotating at the two other spots besides they fall back. I mean, it’s really hard when you have, you know, that that position um is is all about confidence. So, when you go out there and you rotating positions, it’s hard to get to find your footing. And um I feel like they they they did good. I feel like we we fought back and um we we we limited big pay plays in the second half and, you know, uh it just wasn’t it wasn’t good enough. How do you where do you guys go from here and is it a good time to maybe get away and have that road trip where you guys can maybe figure some things out? Uh it’s still preparation time. Um we we we have a game to play versus a very good opponent. Um and you know that that only makes it even more challenging. So that means we have to be on our on our uh P’s and Q’s when we go out there in London. So that means just you know relocking in and understanding that our process has to be refined and you know we got to we got to get this win. Jordan, how much do you think this is just a football team still trying to figure it out as well? Uh and and how much not that you like to lose, but can these kind of lock people in? Sense of urgency, all those kind of things like you did, I guess, coming off Cincinnati. Um we we needed a sense of urgency before the game. Uh that that that’s that comes in preparation. Um we have to have a sense of urg urgency every time we we step on the on the field. So I feel like that’s that can’t be an excuse that we’re a young team. We’re still, you know, uh just coming together. Um we we play really good ball. We understand what we’re capable of. We just got to go out there and execute and um understand that, you know, we can’t go out and and play just, you know, one half of football. We got to go out there and put a a cohesive game, you know, for 60 minutes together. Hey Jordan, I guess everyone had wondered what would it look like when the defense wasn’t able to get turnovers. So, what how would you break down today? Uh that’s what we that’s our life. I mean, we need turnovers. Um, we need turnovers to win games and I honestly feel like we could have got a few good turnovers and, you know, gave the the the football back to the offense and, you know, advantageous, you know, positions, but, um, that didn’t happen. But, like I said, uh, guys fought, we fought back. Um, it just wasn’t good

  1. Trevor what the fk happened today you was doing great and this happened with the Seahawks today 20-12 I’m upset Trevor we have to go 15-2 this year and get to the playoffs

  2. I remember thinking in the 1st two games of the season, that the offense, although flawed, moved the ball really well. Now it seems like we're doing that same ole stall out BS.

  3. I know and am confident that Trevor and the rest of the team knows, and will indeed learn from today, and start working on the mistakes and having them fixed, nobody cant let their emotions get the best of them when it causes them to make stupid mistakes by saying different stupid things, which is why im glad to know that they dont listen to the negative noises, and they go what they know what to do, and thats to be a team, and do their best to make sure to have consistency, but when theres a team that has a defense that has a pain in the butt defense, then anyone would end up having issues to win, no matter who the QB is.

  4. Jacksonville in London… they won’t lose even though rams are a tough team it will give us even more respect around the league trust me

  5. Sad to say guys it’s Trevor fault.. I’ve been going to bat for Trevor every year giving him excuses but this year he has no excuses to play the way he is playing. He can’t read defenses, he is not accurate and he is not consistent at all

  6. I don’t think Trevor has a mean bone in his body. I want to see him get angry at this performance and hold himself & his offense accountable.

  7. Fans are growing tired of hearing, "we've got to clean some things up" and not seeing things getting cleaned up. I know the team isn't going undefeated, but when we lose, it shouldn't consistently be self-inflicted wounds. So much of what went sideways today were things the team should be able to control. Pre-snap penalties, illegal shifts, improper alignment. I know it's a new system, but what are we doing during the week? Same issues, some execution problems.

  8. Jags will be fine this year. We can’t win every game. We have an easy schedule after the rams. We have colts titans, cardinals, raiders. So we have a good chance for winning the division or a wild card. It’s going to be one of the two

  9. The jags are not aggressive enough at the line of scrimmage, the pass rush is garbage they can't put no pressure on the quarterback. Receivers can't hardly get open to help the quarterback.

  10. See the jags was fine until they made the trade, if it's not broken don't try to fix it. Your man issues would've been to get the tight end from Cleveland that would've put u over the hump

  11. Every great play was called back for some ridiculous penalty 🙄
Didn't seem as if anyone could catch a football? So weird from the enthusiasm that they had on Monday night 🌙
    Scratch my head
    Go Jags!

  12. Yeah it's Trevors fault .u have to navigate ur players for a drive and u have to get the ball out quicker and receivers to fight to get open and don't go away what works if it ain't broke don't fix it but u go away from the formula of winning then u find out what happened why did we lose .Trevor was running last game and throwing the ball well then the following week they go away from everything they were doing from the past .I understand each team will be different but that is why u watch film all week to find out ur opponents weakness and that happens in practice too .that is why Joe Montana was a great or tom Brady or Patrick mahomes they know what to do and they go out practice and put it into the game I m sorry I just don't think Trevor isnt consistent enough .

  13. I love how some fans say Trevor isn’t “the guy” but then the same fans hype him up after the amazing play he made that beat the Chiefs

Trevor is the best qb the jags have had in a LOOOONG time. He’s my guy and I’ll always have it back. DUUUUVVAAALLL
