Boomer went off on the “embarrassing” way the Jets coaching staff is handling Justin Fields:

If Justin feels and I and I told you this when they signed him that he is a erratic and at times like disconnected player. And I would tell you that when I think that they gave $40 million to the quarterback that was replaced by Russell Wilson who got $10 million from the Giants. That tells you all you need to know. like he was the backup to to Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh and and they didn’t want him anymore. And what he looked like he did yesterday was looked to me like he mentally locked up in the middle of this. I just completely locked up. Like he would drop back. There was more than enough time to throw and he wouldn’t throw it. And he just wouldn’t throw it. Like he didn’t believe either what he was seeing or thought that he was throwing the ball poorly. There were sidearm throws when he was throwing. The way that the Jets offense is treating him, the coaches are treating him is embarrassing. Head coach and quarterback, that’s how teams get good. That’s how teams win championships. If you’ve got a great head coach, you got a great quarterback, you’re always going to be in it. And the opposite is true too when you’ve got a terrible head coach and a terrible quarterback.

Boomer says Justin Fields seemed to mentally “lock up” every time he dropped back to pass, and the coaching staff deserves plenty of blame for that as well.

  1. Even ā€œifā€ we start another rebuild who’s to say this coach would be the right fit. He’s making rookie mistakes and is failing to get the most of his players now. These next three years are going to be tough. I don’t need him to lean in his Detroit days or head coaches he’s spoken to. He needs to get this team to play hard.

  2. They should have drafted Sanders shortly after the Browns picked Gabriel. Now the Jets have a very limited Fields and an older backup who's able to play part of the time when he starts.

  3. They tried to blame my Bears. We knew he was trash. Steelers fans then saw him play. They knew he was basura. Then it was the Jets fans who said you guys dont know ish. Ya. Your org knew he was ass and tricked you so that they can tank. Your welcome.

  4. It’s funny that after 4yrs people still just get amazed by how fast he can run. But he is not a good pocket QB. A big issue is he can’t throw with anticipation. He only lets go once he’s 100% sure the player is wide open, but by then the window is already closing and he is either too late on the throw or tucks it and runs.

  5. As a Bears fan, I feel for the Jets. Fields is a good kid, teammates seem to love him, and he’s certainly physically talented. But for some reason, due to lack coaching or himself, it hasn’t worked at the NFL level. Smh

  6. The Steelers did want him back though and they realized they made a mistake with Wilson. Fields needs a different scenario do be successful. It has to be a totally different offense. The jets as usual try to get a square peg into a round hole

  7. Fields can’t read defenses. It’s obvious. When guys are running wide open, he’s decisive. When he has to THROW GUYS OPEN, he freezes up.

  8. It’s funny. This comes from a guy who had the privilege of being a Jets QB for 3 seasons and had 3 different head coaches. Last being Rich Kottie who is now laughing saying. See. I am not the worst coach in Jets history
