CARNAGE: Twins DECIMATE Clubhouse Chemistry | Byron Buxton REMAINS Amidst MASS EXODUS of Teammates?
Weren’t we just here? Well, then the twins went ahead and traded Carlos Curry and Danny Kulum. So, we’re going to talk about it and ride all the way up to the trade deadline. This is Locked on Twins. You are Locked on Twins, your daily Minnesota Twins podcast, part of the Locked On podcast network. Your team every day. And apparently we’re your Twice daily locked on or your Twice daily twins podcast that is locked on twins. It’s Brandon Warren, Dave Brown. I’ve been watching the twins for 30 years. Never seen anything like this, but I’ve covered them for about half that long. Dave Brown, a BBWA member. Sorry, I got something in my eye here. And uh Hall of Fame voter. Yeah. Well, it feels like it. Hall of Fame voter for Joe Mau. And wow, uh, quite a bit has transpired in the hour and a half that we were not on the air. A lot transpired in the hour we were on the air before. And uh, lots going on. But hey, thanks for making Lockdown Twins your first listen every day. We’re free and available wherever you get your podcasts. And of course, as part of the Lockdown Podcast Network, we’re your team every day. Please feel free to be active in the comments. This is going to be a interest and interesting hour. It’s going to be a wild hour. We’re waiting to hear back because the Twins have traded Carlos Koreah to the Houston Astros. The rumor based on Chandler Rome’s reporting, probably my favorite Astros reporter, Brian McTagert’s good, too. That might be the only two. Um, excuse me. Still, how many of them are there? Yeah. Uh, not many. reporting a minor leager coming back. We’ll see who that is. And the Twins picking up some of the cash. So, Koreah out. Also, Danny Koul headed to the AL West Texas Rangers. So, we’ll see what that looks like. Koulom has been tremendous, but at the same time only on a deal that expires at the end of the year. And then there was one Willie Castro, the last impending free agent that we expected to be traded, still left untraded as we’re now 73 minutes short of the deadline. Could still see more going because apparently Dan Hayes has said that a Twins player uh unnamed Twins player said, “Uh, well, if they’re selling off like this, we don’t if they’re selling off like this, I don’t want to stay here.” So, I’m not sure. He said nobody wants to stay. He didn’t say him, but maybe he’s including himself. I don’t know. We’ll see what that looks like. I I can’t imagine it’s a prospect of much consequence coming back, but uh again, we’ll see. Lot going on though. Uh Dave, initial reaction to your or your initial reaction to the Korea trade. It’s hard to get your head around a little bit. I mean, we were warned that it was possible because they’ve been talking the last few days about the possibility of Koreah going back to the Astros. It would only have been there. He he only would have waved his no trade clause. You know, there’s a emotional ties there because he’s helped that team win in the past and he it’s a semi-positional fit. He wouldn’t play shorts stop. They have Jeremy Pñena now, but he they put him over at third base, a position that they’ve uh ever since Bregman left. Um, you know, it’s uh it’s hard to understand like what Carlos Koreah is worth in a trade because of the money situation and the uncertainties about where he is physically and uh and I mean that like with injuries and uh you know his uh where his body is as he’s turned 30, lost a little bit on defense uh not having a good offensive season uh but has been better with the stick since May or so. Uh not great, but you know, that’s part of the reason why we’re here at this point. Uh Carlos Koreah not playing to the uh the excellent degree that he did last year. You know, he’s been on the field, but he hasn’t produced like he did last year. And that is one of the reasons why the Twins are under 500 selling even amid a sale of the team that has kind of dragged on for a while. and we don’t know when and where that’s going. It’s uh it’s shocking to uh it’s it’s it’s hard to know like what he’s going to be worth, what they’re going to get back. Like you said, Brandon, it’s it’s probably not going to be a great prospect. And there’s reports uh Rome uh Chandler Rome said that the Twins are going to send money to uh the the Astros. I would guess it’s somewhere between half of what he’s owed for this year and all of what he’s owed. you know, maybe six to 12 million and then next year I would I would hope it’s not any more than that. Um although like you know it’s not it’s the pole ads money so I don’t care but it it does affect how um you know they spend that money that is now available in the future if they’re still the owners of the team. Who knows? Confusing times. Uh, I don’t I don’t know if, you know, if we had like uh six hours or six days to get our heads around this, would we understand it anymore than we do now? I don’t know. The twins in the early 2000s had a campaign that was actually their peak for like creativity, for advertising and that sort of thing. And their slogan for one of them was get to know them. And that’s actually what the voice sounded like. And it was like the era before Joe Mau where they had a bunch of young guys uh 2001 I think it was just before the the it was it was in the midst of the contraction talks and all that stuff and that might have to come back. We’ll see about that. Uh Samir Cababayro says, “Love the show, guys, but I’m done with the twins for a while.” Totally get that. It’s uh it’s definitely rock bottom I think for a lot of fans and I I can’t really blame them. Again, still waiting to see what Koreah brings back in a trade, what the Twins will have paid down on his contract, which will of course dictate the return um or help dictate the return. I do have to ask you this, Dave. Uh, something I just thought about, what has to happen for the Twins to, and this is a a tricky phrase, win this Carlos Koreah trade. I think it has to be uh I mean, paying down the paying down the money. I mean, I just I if you wanted to wash your hands of them and just send him to the Astros, I I guess I could kind of get that, but you’d really have to get somebody good back for it to be 20, 30 plus million. So, I hope I hope it’s not anywhere close to that, but I mean, who knows? He’s he’s still owed what a minimum of three years at 90 some odd million, right? After Nice. If the Astros want him, then they can pay him. I I mean, seriously, it if they’re not going to get a really good prospect back and I don’t even know what that means because, you know, hopefully Carlos Koreah in the next couple years plays a little bit more like he did last year, which was at a really high level. Yeah. and you know he’s worth more than there does seem to be and we talked about this in our last episode uh with Don uh a concern about well what um the other shoe dropping and that’s kind of a funny phrase with Carlos and his planter fascitis. Yeah. But what is next for him? Is is he is there about to be a post30 downturn? Um where he’s he’s kind of like he is this year which is pretty good defensively. Um depending on what uh metrics you look at and uh you know league average at the plate I mean that’s that’s hard to uh to swallow. Is he is he like they some people fear with Dan about to be much less effective in his next five years? Uh you know that would be you know disappointing for uh if if he was on the Twins and that’s how it worked out. I they are in a sense you know maybe taking the the one opportunity they have to trade him at all uh given how much he makes. But the the contract is at least it was frontloaded. So this year he’s 36 million I think. Next year maybe 30 31 and then it goes down in increments every season. So um as he gets older he he is going to earn less money. So there’s that. But you have to wonder if the twins are like well uh just like with Don you know his value is never going to be we’re never going to get a better opportunity than now. You know, the absolute best time to have traded Don was after 23 uh going and you know, you you probably couldn’t imagine him doing that after having gone to the playoffs and winning a series and breaking that uh streak and all that stuff. I mean, that that would have been, you know, if you’re a cold, heartless uh uh Moneyball type, uh that would have been the time to do it. Uh this year’s certainly though as he as Duron is rebounding seems like a time when the iron is hot and should be stricken. Um and Carlos Koreah maybe is in the same position where you know we’re kind of hoping that his the rest of his season is productive and uh you know we’re not we we weren’t real sure but there’s a possibility that uh these injuries are just going to these these old injuries that he deals with all the time. You see him in the dugout with his um back warmer or brace or whatever that is. uh he works out, you know, forever before games uh in bare feet to combat planer fascitis to get ready for the games. There’s a lot of work that he has to do to be the kind of ball player that he is. And if there if there’s going to be diminishing returns, and we’ve kind of seen it this year, um you know, is that somebody who you want to be in your core? We talked about the core in the last episode of him and Buckston and Pablo and Joe and you know those four guys being the main guys. Well, now it’s I guess is this Royce’s team at least for this week? Uh you know last year Royce lost his hitting coach and now uh you know the the the best hitting coach that Carlos said he ever had and now Royce is out the window. So, I’m not saying that there is a real power play going on here with Carlos with uh with Royce Lewis, but uh if there were, he’d have won. Carlos is gone, the hitting coach is gone, and here we are. It’s now Car. It’s now uh basically Buckton’s team and sort of Royce’s team. So, what are you looking up there, Mr. Typing? Well, I was telling people to make sure they like and subscribe the show. I got a funny message that I’ll have to share off the off the air uh from a parent of a former twin. So, X-rated. No, but you may be able to guess who. Um so, parent of a former twin. Yeah. Yeah, I can guess. Yes. Yeah. Anyway, um my thought was that as soon as next year, Kaylin Co Pepper at short and Kareah at third was the vision. Now, what’s your vision at short? because I think it’s probably Brooks Lee for now. And I mean, I don’t think Royce is going back there. I don’t think I mean, if Willie Castro is on the team in two hours, I don’t think it’s him. I don’t know. Um, no, it’s uh it’s it’s Royce Lee’s job. Royce Lee. Brooks Lee’s job. Now, I do that all the time. I I call I almost call Brooks Lee Royce Lee all the time. Um, I think uh the teams are making me lose my brain here. Even worse than that age is, Brandon, it’s uh it’s Brooks Lee’s position now. Shorts stop. He’s going to play there most of the time. There is I mean they could uh we we didn’t really talk about the great Pton Neils, the short Payton Neils. Um per perhaps we will see him soon. He’s doing pretty well. The shortest of stops. The shortest of stops down at at St. Paul. Maybe we’ll see him too. But Brooks Lee has shown at least the eye test says that he uh can play shortstop and um you might as well give him his run at this point. That’s I mean not not like he wasn’t going to play anyway, but um so that you know that that means uh Royce has got to stick pretty much every day at third base and he’s got to get his run. It’s uh it it would be a very interesting off seasonason coming up for the Twins even if we didn’t have all of the drama that’s going on now plus the drama behind the scenes with uh when the when are the polads going to sell the team if the pole ads are going to be able to sell the team. Um so it’s uh it’s the the Twins will will not be lacking for news from now until October and then uh even beyond that into the offseason. It’s going to be uh interesting. Hopefully uh any more positive changes that might be in store won’t be uh subject to arrest if uh the Polads are still owning the team and put the Kaibos on any kind of moves that require additional funds. you’d think. I mean, I’m not expecting like a lot of free agents to come in in this off season anyway, unless there is a new owner. And even if there is a new owner, who knows? But, um, it would be nice if it wasn’t just a a culling of the herd. It would be nice if if Valve is going to stay uh that he could kind of reshape the rest of the roster into I mean they’re still in a position to possibly contend with a few more additions here and there. It’s not it’s not that far-fetched. So, uh especially with the state of what kind of pitching staff they would still have at this point going into the end of the season and going into next year based on what they have right now. Couple key details coming across. John Morosei, who went to Harvard, I might add. Important detail. The Astros will pay a majority of the remaining contract for Korea. The Twins are kicking in some cash. Still don’t know the return. And Brian McTagger, MLB.com, says, “Koreah indicated that this is the right time of his career to move to third base. We were waiting for a shortstop to come in with the Twins, and now that I get to play third base, it will be great for me at this stage of my career.” Let’s take a quick pause when we excuse me come back. I don’t want to ask you about free agency because the Twins will have more uh more space more f well we would think financial leeway andor levity but we don’t know and uh we’ll talk about the return for Brock Stewart because there that was an interesting one too. So we’ll talk about all that here but first a quick break. And speaking of trades, supply house is the place to get supplies that you need from the site made for the skilled trades. James Alman coming back for Brock Stewart. I had I had kind of suggested that maybe the Twins could get back some big league help in one of these trades. I am higher on Outman than um I’m higher on Outman than most because the year he got a chance he was pretty dang good. And it’s not his fault he was in an organization where they they always are signing great players and kind of means they push aside some guys who can play but don’t get an opportunity. Uh, he’s gonna probably play center for them until Buxon comes back and then I don’t know, play left or I don’t know where he’s better. He’s probably better right. He’s probably better. But he’s a he’s uh from everything I’ve seen a very good outfield defender and maybe the Twins are going to do the more athletic in the outfield situation. I don’t know. I I thought Alman was a pretty decent return especially because you can’t just keep only getting prospects. I’ll be curious to see how many 40man roster spots are filled, how many guys they can add, how many guys they have to add. Um, all that fun stuff. But it’s, uh, it’s a tumultuous time. James Alman, though, your thoughts? Yeah. Uh, well, my first thought was, oh, great, the Twins have added another left-handed hitting outfielder. Just what, you know, you can’t ever have enough of them. Um, so you know, they’ve already got Walner and they’ve got Lick and now they’ve got Outman and they’ve got Byron Buckton who hits right-handed. So that doesn’t fit exactly great. It might set up it. He He does give, you know, the last few years, what have they done? They’ve gotten they’ve tried they’ve tried to bring in people like Michael Taylor. They tried to bring in uh Manuel Margo as kind of the backup slash co-starter for Buckston in case he doesn’t play center. Um, and this year they they went to Bader. Bader was a hit. Those other guys were misses. This is from that standpoint, you know, it’s it’s almost like an inside baseball kind of trade. The other stuff they’re doing is like major upheaval and uh who, you know, if come minor leaguers and prospects and there’s a lot of guessing and waiting involved. This is a guy Outman who is ready to play Major League Baseball right now. He did hit well a couple years ago with the Dodgers. Um, he he started out hot, I should say, if I’m remembering correctly, from fantasy baseball. He started out really hot and got really cold and has been cold ever since in the majors. He’s still only 28, so let’s not throw out the baby with the bathwater, but he does uh possess really good skills on defense. Uh, he’s a good home run robber, so you know that. Now, didn’t he tweak a homer from Korea to end that game? Uh, yeah, he did. Uh, I think it was a home run. It was in center field. I I didn’t really get a good look from behind to see if it actually would have cleared the fence, but yes, he he that was a a near miss in Los Angeles. I was going to say I thought they might have a good laugh about that. Now they are uh not going to pass. They’re not even going to be strangers in the night. So that’s they’ll see the Astros someday. Maybe if they even remember it happened at that point. But yeah, so Outl I know he’s got huge feet. Nobody cares, but he’s got just announced that as official, by the way, Outman um who’s been optioned to Triple A St. Paul. So, that’s interesting. But that might just be procedural until they have everything lined up, right? I’m not sure what they have as far as what is going on right now with their roster. But you’d think with Bucks on the DL on the IIL and with Bader gone, you know, Kersy, they got to bring up somebody for Koreah. It’s all in flux right now. So, you might as well just op, you know, have him in the miners. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the team tomorrow when uh Yeah. Where where’d they go? They went out of town, didn’t they? Cleveland Detroit. Yeah. Boy, that’s going to be a weird series with Cleveland. I mean, Cleveland, they’re selling was a guy who wasn’t even on the roster. But uh with that said, you know, the two teams that we thought were going to be there and now neither of them are there and well and cle Yeah. Uh I was kind of dreading this series feeling well no matter what happens at the trade deadline, it’s the beginning of the end of the Twin season because sometimes when they go to Cleveland, bad things happen. Um but now Cleveland, you know, they’ve basic lost Class A presumably for the end of the season. They don’t know that yet, but uh you know, two of their players have been hit with gambling scandals. Uh it’s not a great time to be, you know, in other in other universes, maybe it’s a good time for for the Twins to go to Cleveland. And who knows, maybe they’ll sweep them because nothing ever makes sense. But, uh you okay, it’s it’s like it’s it’s uh you know, if we’re thinking ahead to next year’s roster, okay, they have their 25th guy, so I don’t know. It’s better. He’s probably more viable for the long ter long haul than Kerzy, but then maybe Kirzy we just need to give him more time to learn how to hit. I don’t know. So, I don’t know. Yeah, I uh I Bob Nightingale just say Bob. Uh only one prospect going to the Twins and the Twins are paying a significant portion of the remaining 102 million. So, who knows what’s happening. Bob is on the spot. Bob says it’s significant, then I’m not sure that we can count on that being true. I have no idea what to make of this. There’s 53 minutes to go and uh we are just trying to we’re scrambling here. It’s fun, though. I mean, I’m enjoying this. If you’re in the if you’re in the chat, let us know if you’re enjoying it, too. We hope you are. We’ve had tremendous numbers today. People have been just great, and this is the craziest deadline I can remember. I’ve been watching the Minnesota Twins since 1993 and granted the uh the trade deadline has exploded in recent years. I think it’s mostly because of our uh awareness of prospects, you know, baseball America, baseball perspectus, that sort of thing. Kind of helping us understand who the good prospects are. Because it used to be, oh, MLB player X was traded for three prospects and you you may never find out who the prospects are. And I uh you know now we’re this guy’s number eight in the system. This guy’s number 12. This guy’s number 13. And we we take those as gospel too when in fact it’s just either one man’s opinion, one person’s opinion or um you know at some point we don’t know how the organization views all these guys. So we’ll see. I mean there’s just so much going on right now. I I tweeted the the link for uh or the gif of the it’s Spongebob and it’s the spinning around gif and I just honestly I’m uh oh is that what that was? It was uh making me dizzy so I didn’t I don’t know. Yeah to Houston is progressing. John Haymon says my neighbor said my neighbor says his wife is bummed about Korea. Um our good friend FTL Novakit. I don’t know his real name. Um, but that’s okay. Uh, says, “When’s the last That sounds like a Christian name.” Maybe that’s his real name. Um, FTL Novak. When’s the last time any team sold like this? Didn’t the Braves have a year where they traded a bunch of guys like uh Uptons and I can’t remember honestly. My head is my head is so spinning that I uh I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t have a good uh memory of answering for those types of questions like when’s the last time somebody sold like this but I don’t know I actually I mean not to twins got Garrett Horn from Texas they they just uh announced Garrett Horn is that two T’s yes so tell me no no we’re learning this on the Hi. Oh, a starting pitcher. Yay. 62 205 sixth round pick in 2024. He went to Liberty. So, Liberty University. That’s I wouldn’t send my kids there, but you know, I don’t know. Good. 284 RA. Looks like Oh, nice numbers. But, uh, he’s 22 years old. Uh, 292 RA, 34 to6 strikeout to walk ratio. They got like a 22-y old kulom. It’s great. Well, has he he started though? nine starts. I’m looking up Rangers top 30 right now. I hope people I hope people but he’s got he’s got 24 innings and nine starts. So that’s not So he’s on the Marco He’s on the Marco Rya plan. Um I’m just looking up quick. I I could sense maybe he’s not a top 30 guy for them. Uh horn horn horn. I hope people find this like us tracking the stuff down while we’re on the air as uh charming as I hope it is. know, not top 30 in the Ranger system unless he’s already been moved, which doesn’t seem to be the case. Um, good friend Brandon Walter, this is a great day for the Twins, honestly. Uh, did we did we have Henry Mendes? Uh, yeah, we didn’t, right? 18th in the system. So, behind Corey Lewis and ahead of Rain Dons or Don Don, I think it’s Danson. Uh so 18th I mean okay uh you know as long as it’s not Ray Don Chong the actor who played opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Commando. So it is not person entirely. Tommy Thomas daughter. Um so lot lot going on here. Again not a top 30 prospect. Uh I could check baseball America here. Um, we still don’t have a name on the person that the that Koreah is given up or or an amount. No. And I mean, maybe that doesn’t come out until after the deadline. It might not. Um, they still have to make sure that Kareah’s medicals are in order. And if there’s anybody who they’re going to look at it, you know, twice, there’s a, let’s just put it this way. There’s a nonzero chance that Carlos Kareah is coming back to the Twins. That’s all I’m saying because it’s happened a couple times before. If we Yeah, it’s in the medical. It’s in the medical. Can you You know, we were talking about how awkward it would be for Willie Castro to come back. Oh boy. Yeah, that would be a whole another thing. Baseball America. Baseball America has Garrett Horn as their 25th. They give him a 60 on the fast ball, 45 on the curve, 30 on the change up. So, this might be a reliever profile if he’s only got a 30 change up. Control 55 um nearing the end of his rehab process. Should be in games soon. He had Tommy rehab. What’s wrong with him? had Tommy John in uh 2024, so before um big physical lefty with a relief only profile, three pitch mix geared towards bullying hitters in short bursts. Fast ball peaked at 97 as an amateur. Slurvy curveball. That’s going to be a lefty uh late reliever probably. So Danny, he could be uh you know, I don’t know how fast he’ll move. He’s already 22, but lefty who throws or has touched 97 sits in the mid 90s. I could see that’s why a guy you’d take a chance on if you’re the twins for Kulom who for as good as he’s been I can understand why he didn’t command an exceptional trade return. I I think, you know, I was I was on the fence about selling in the sense that I didn’t want to get a bunch of teams like number 20, number 25, or even number 18 or 20 prospects, but uh with that said, I uh I think they’re doing okay here. Is it foolish? You know, let’s let’s pause. I want to ask you something um when we come back, just it’ll be just a brief reset here. uh if it’s too hasty to do something that I want to do about the offseason. But first, a quick pause. On a scale, Dave, of one to 100, how stupid is it of me to start looking at free agency and wondering how the Twins might spend this money they’ve saved? I think you could probably have uh find a better use of your time given a couple things. one, who who is spending the money on these free agents, first of all. Right. Right. Two, um there was some other reason. I don’t know if it’s if it’s who owns the team or the 2027 lockout or uh I I I would not necessarily get too excited about the future yet. We’re we’re still trying to figure out the present. But uh yeah, I I don’t know, Brandon. That that seems uh like a maybe a little bit of wasting time. Not to uh you know burst your balloon, but uh I I don’t know. It’s uh I I I until further notice, the Twins are not buying any other significant free agents. I’m still surprised that they brought in Bader and France for a million dollars. So, uh it’s not going to be anybody uh other than someone like that until we get some uh finalization on ownership. Yeah, I am really not sure. Still waiting on prospect prospect I think singular for who the twins are going to get for Koreah. I’m just trying to think of who else. Um well that’s not we’re not going to know that until Koreah’s medicals are I’m assume they’re going to sign off on him. Um but that they’re still going to look and see. Oh yeah. What’s that thing that the Giants didn’t like about his ankles? So, um, I forgot about that in, you know, it’s it’s sort of like, uh, the Dodgers with the with Brock Stewart. It’s, uh, it’s just gonna take a little bit of time to, you know, they know what to look for, though. So, I’m sure we’ll find out in the coming hours. Um, let’s see. Circling back, twins have now moved. Let’s see if we can remember all of them. Uh, Don, Bader, Kulom, uh, Koreah. I mean, it’s so I’ve I’ve never seen a deadline anything like this at all. At all. And well, for the Twins, maybe. It’s There have been deadlines like this for other teams. And it’s still not over. I mean, that’s the other thing is they still may move. I mean, they should move Willie Castro. We’ll see what that looks like. Um, oh, here, uh, good question from, uh, friend Wal friend Brandon Wallser asks, uh, why not? Oh, it’s pretty close. Why not move Jackson Ryan now? I think between Lewis, Buckston, Jacks, Ryan, Pablo, you still have the foundation of a a respectable team in a division and in an AL where respectable will contend for the playoffs. And that’s why I kind of started looking at the free agents at least um a little bit as far as what uh what they could turn around and spend these savings on. it it’s going to be an entertaining team. Uh roster resource and not that they had any inside info on this um had Mick Ael starting I think the Twins fourth or fifth game coming out of this day off. I don’t know if that’s the case, you know, and and we’ve seen Abel and we’ve seen Outman both optioned to uh Triple A. That might be just a formality again until they figure out what exactly they’re going to do um roster-wise. So, I I’m thinking it’s possible they’re just procedurally optioned and they still may join the team. I mean, if it was if Abel was starting like say the third or fourth or even fifth game after this off day, you probably wouldn’t you wouldn’t call him up right away, you know? you’d probably have an extra reliever or something like that in the meantime just to make sure how they how they’ve done it other instances where a guy’s turn in a rotation isn’t coming yet and they’ll they’ll go get Travis Adams or something or somebody like that for a few games. Uh yeah, I think that’s probably a fair way to look at it. And I don’t know like what their plans are for what’s Ober is Ober supposed to come? I thought maybe Ober would have been back already. Uh, and I don’t know if I’ll check what roster resource says there. Again, roster resource is not in the business of like anything more than just kind of educated guesses like wonderful resource. It’s it’s part of the name. They say or suggest Ryan Ober SWR ZBY Able. That would be uh Ryan against Williams, Ober against Bby, and SWR against Joey Kantio, followed by Zebie against Mai. Mick Ael against Chris Paddock. How would that be for a bit of a pallet cleanser? And then Joe Ryan, Jack Flity would be a whole lot of fun. So, and then they’re off again next Thursday. Um, this is I mean, my head is just spinning, Dave. I know that that doesn’t make for good radio or whatever you want to call what we’re doing right now, but I’m just trying to get my wits about me. It’s uh well, the Twins don’t like to, you know, if the twins, Rocco, if nothing else, he’s uh he likes to fancy himself a little bit of a uh he’s koi, let’s say, with the decisions on who’s starting and who’s on the roster and who might be on the bereavement list, but we’re not going to tell anybody. So, um, you know, he’s they’re not necessarily going to let us know ahead of time, uh, too much who’s going to start these games. So, um, that’s one reason why, you know, they they go and they put Outman in the, uh, in the minors and they put, uh, Abel in the minors because there’s still, I mean, they’ve made this Koreah trade. There still might be one or two more deals to go. Willie Castro is still out there. Um it would it would make in a way it would make more sense to keep Willie just for the rest of the season if you’re if you are concerned about the at bats that you don’t get from Kareah at shortstop anymore. So the twins even thinking about well how do we win more games in 2025? I mean it’s it’s an afterthought as far as the front office goes. Rock’s probably worried about it though because it’s going to reflect on him as much as anybody else. So, um I’m not saying that that then it then makes sense to keep Willie, but he certainly is uh he he wouldn’t lack for opportunities with uh Koreah gone at shortstop. So, um all those things are still in motion. So, you know, we we don’t even know uh you know, we’re not going to know the return on Koreah until his medicals are set and the trade is stamped officially. So, you know, we’re we’re sort of uh we are here as in uh the sense of information, but also fun for fans to talk about what’s going on with the twins, but we definitely do not have uh even half the answers yet, much less most of them. So, we’re just going to a lot of guessing and speculation going on. Uh mostly in my head and yours, I think. Yeah. The the voices. Um, Brandon says, “If France stays, it’s Lee Lewis, not Leo Lewis to be confused with the former Viking.” Uh, Clemens and France. If France moves, see someone coming up. I think it would be more Clemens France as a platoon at first and Julian playing second. At this point, there’s really no reason not to just put Julian in the leadoff spot, play them every day, and see what you got, right? I mean, not leading off against lefties necessarily, by the way. I mean, it depends. Yeah, it depends on who else we’re who else are we thinking about getting at bats. Uh you might I mean maybe you DFA France and just bring up Sabato. I saw our friend Grant say just bring up Kaylin Co Pepper. I don’t think that’s as crazy as it might sound. I think it’s a little crazy. He just got the double A. You you are uh you’re doing a purge here. Keep in mind my head is still spinning. Be nice to me. Yeah. No, it’s not it’s not a good idea to bring up Co Pepper right now. I Okay. A a Rangers friend asked, “How good is Danny Kulum?” I said, “Really good. Lots of deception.” And he says, “You think he’s got closer stuff?” And I said, “Uh, if he has closer stuff, it’s in the vein of like Eddie Gordado.” Would you say that’s probably a pretty good comparison? Yes. Uh, he he’s a guy he obviously doesn’t have, he’s got a 90 mph fast ball, so that is not ideal. Uh but what Roco has has done with him on he’s used him all over the game. So he’s he’s started once or twice. Uh he comes in in the middle of the game, fourth, fifth inning sometimes against a tough left-handed batter. Uh he’s got good splits, so he can face right-handed batters. You don’t want to necessarily rely on him as a closer because of he’s 35 and he’s the that next injury is somewhere lurking around the corner. So you you want to have him as maybe your excuse me, no better than your like third best reliever. So you have other people to come in and you know as far as being reliable in the late innings and high leverage, but yeah, you can pitch him in high leverage if he’s good to go in the playoffs. You know, Koul last year pitched really well in the playoffs with wor with reduced stuff and velocity because he was coming back too soon from an injury and he did it because he wanted to help the team win. He’ll he’s a guy that will do he’ll do anything to win. Uh he he has he doesn’t have like hot stuff, but he’s got pretty good stuff. A bunch of different pitches. He’s a really good addition to the bullpen. Like, can you say, you know, the Rangers have had a lot of issues with closers. Do they have a closer now? I would not do that. No, I would not put that on him. I would not expect it. But he’s going to help the Rangers a lot. Absolutely. As long as his elbow’s okay. Uh, good friend John Leno wants to know if we think this was lousy to paraphrase of Korea or is it just business? Um, which I the statement or I don’t I don’t know. I I feel like and if he wants to chime back in, he can. Um, I don’t think Koreah did anything untowarded. Uh, but I don’t I don’t think he’s going to badmouth the twins on the way out. I I don’t know. I I feel like it’s somebody had mentioned Josh Donaldson. Um, right here, Joe says he thinks Kareah’s contract would have aged like Donaldson, so it might be time to uh to have gotten out. I I feel like there is some uh some Donaldson parallels in the sense that if if Koreah does not get it going again and who knows maybe a move to third takes some of the pressure off his his heel and um you know who knows I don’t I don’t know what this is going to look like. I think the move to third base is good for him just like he said. But, uh, with that said, there there was part of his quote, which I’m paraphrasing from, uh, MLB.com, where he said that he didn’t really like the direction that the Twins were going, which I guess is is this what they’re doing, selling the players and making trades and not going for it. as if anybody could expect the way they played this year or the circumstances for them to do anything different or for this ownership group to put any money into adding more players for them to go for it. I I think this what’s happening to the Twins is fair. um you know and and can car can Carlos Korea say well I don’t really like that direction and can we say that as fans well that’s reasonable of him to say even though part of this is his fault in a way for not for one reason or another not being able to perform the way that and he’s not the only reason that they’re under 500 but um it’s it his production hasn’t helped as far as uh certainly from the offensive end so when Carlos Korea says, “I don’t really like the way the direction was going. It sounds like sour grapes. It sounds like being a diva or whatever, but I also think it’s kind of reasonable.” So, um it’s uh so I don’t I would not be too hard on Korea for that reason. Um it it to me it seemed like kind of a long shot that the Astros and Twins would work something out. Um just because it’s a everybody knew that he had a no trade clause and would wave it only for one team. I think that’s fair to say. And but it’s not like the Twins could put any leverage on the Astros saying, you know, the Dodgers are interested in this guy, too. So, there was none of that. Um, this was going to happen with the Astros or it wasn’t going to happen. So, it’s kind of a a complicated situation. Um, you know, if if you’re kind of half disappointed in Carlos Koreah, uh, for whatever reason, I think that’s fair. But, you know, I don’t think he’s a bad guy, and I don’t think he was a snake or anything like that. But, um, it’s, uh, you know, it it him moving is not the only thing that’s happening with the Twins today. It’s, you know, his performance isn’t the only reason that they failed. Uh, they had some, you know, Pablo getting hurt was a big reason that they weren’t able to have a good first half. Uh, and lots of other things happen too, as everybody knows. we don’t have to go over every darn incident of it, but um so it’s uh depending on how much money they got to pay for the rest of the contract, and I don’t know that we’re going to know that during this broadcast podcast. Um I don’t know. Dot dot dot. I don’t really have an end thought there, but Willie Castro traded to the Cubs for prospects. John Haymon just tweeting it. Um let’s reset. We’ll get the details. I wanted to say the Sleepy Faly narrative has completely been turned on its head. Although maybe Jeremy Z is doing all this. Who knows? But let’s do a quick reset. When we come back, I do want to say a little something something about how this has all come to be. Another thing that has been extremely lousy is that ownership cuts payroll. And we we’ve hashed over this many many times as we’re uh Alex Spy says Joe Ryan is not happening. Someone just posted. So we’ll see about that. Uh we’ll see what Willie Castro brings back. That should be fun. Um what was I talking about? Oh, so the the issue that has hamstrung Jeremy Zo and the Twins and Faly um you can’t say go spend on Carlos Koreah and then pull back payroll and expect a team to be built in any sort of semiefficient manner. I just it it there was the pulling the rug out like that. Uh just absolute debacle and like a number of people have said an absolute masterclass in how to not uh make um how to how to ruin a fan base’s mental uh how they feel about a team. Cool off a fan base after a huge win uh in the playoffs over the Blue Jays. like it was a huge huge downturn and that’s exactly what they deserve for how this happened. I’m really eager to see what this really Castro trade looks at like by the way. Um because we’re now under a half an hour the I mean that would probably be it for the twins, right? Like Willie and then like that’s I think Willie is going to be the last one, right? Unless I think so. I I I you know, unless there’s some something with Griffin Jax that’s lurking. Uh someone panicking at the last second. Uh Griffin Jax is 30 years old. Uh he’s uh his numbers in leverage haven’t been great. I mean, he’s got great strikeout to walk ratio, though. They got they have to look at that and go, well, if he can sustain this, and he so far is sustaining it, his future outs are going to be. And that’s a guy too, depending on where the rest of this rebuild goes or whatever you call it, that could be a guy that you move later and still get good value for in a trade. So, um, yeah. Yeah. I I think someone panicking on Jack’s seeing some of the trades that have been going down at the last second like uh I don’t know if anybody’s going to panic that the Rangers are getting Mel Kelly or that the Dodgers are getting Alex Call, but maybe someone will look at Padres’s did. I still think the Dodgers could use another pitcher. I mean, they’ve added Brock Stewart and they did get Stannis. That’s a perpetual thing, though, the way they break guys down. By the way, if I was looking at someone for the Twins to get in a trade for Castro, maybe like James Triantos, number 10 prospect in the Cub system, second base outfielder, 22 and in Triple A. I feel like that would be a target, but we we still haven’t seen anything yet. Hopefully, it’ll be here while we’re still on the air. I do have to dip out at about 5 minutes to 5. So, I will, as much as it stinks, have to get out of here before the deadline to go pick up my little man uh down the street. But, um it’s going to be it’s going to be crazy to see how this roster comes together uh for for Friday. Uh I have to write the notes for Twins.tv TV and I don’t even know who’s going to be on the team. Yeah. So, we can’t really expect uh to hear from the the the Twins as far as well, who’s starting the game or uh any of that kind of stuff. So, yeah, you’re Brandon, you’re just going to have to wait. Uh our your doppelganger ganganger Brandon Walzer asks, “Rumors are that the Twins are eating a good chunk of the Koreah contract.” I would just like to point out, hey, we got movement. We got movement. Oh, we got movement. Morosi saying, well, not movement, but Morosce saying Red Sox making a late effort to acquire Joe Ryan. Uh, please no. Please, please, please no. That’s the one where if that happens, I’m going to be so sad. Absolutely. I got I got two words. I got two words. Roman Anthony. That’s what That’s my reply. If it’s not Roman Anthony, forget it. How how reliable is Francis Romero from uh BBW remember sometimes says twins are still in sell mode and expected to trade Joe Ryan per industry sources maybe they’re I mean they’re probably at the very least trying to capitalize on this final fervor to see if they can get somebody to overpay and Roman Anthony certainly would be an overpay but that’s what I I wouldn’t I wouldn’t do it for Christian Campbell. I would do it for Roman Anthony though. And would like Saddan Raphaela be in play? I’m just I’m trying to think of I mean he’s he’s a really good defensive player. Saddon Raphael, but I don’t know like what kind of stick he has long term. And that’s not Saddon Raphael for Joe Ryan is non is a non-starter. No, no pun intended. I mean, he could be part of it. Um boy uh this is a blood bath man. It’s a blood bath. Remember to remember we are at the end. We are at a point where teams like Wait, wait, wait. Why is Fox Fox Sports MLB is saying he has been traded per Morrosi? Um who has Joe Ryan? But I I don’t I think Marose was saying late effort. I think this is a mistake on Fox MLB. I think he’s Don’t Don’t magnify it. Well, I think it’s important to put out there when someone’s wrong, too. This one’s getting Yeah, but it it we get And you see what I mean, though? It’s If it’s If it’s wrong, let’s just hang on a second. I’m I think I’m adequately saying though that I don’t think it’s accurate. Uh but yeah, but most people don’t know what’s going on on Twitter. I think we overestimate how many people are following along on there and we think that the entire world thinks then that maybe someone’s been traded and it’s only a small portion of it and then we magnify it. So, but what what is the uh what was the original tweet that you’re talking about? Because I haven’t seen anybody retweet it. Uh, so Moroscei said twins getting late interest. Fox MLB saying he’s been traded, but I don’t believe that’s the case. I believe Fox MLB maybe spoke out of turn. Maybe their uh social media person didn’t quite read it correctly. I’m I’m going to try scroll the the timeline is a waterfall right now and I want to scroll back and see. Morosi on MLB Network saying they’re pushing hard. That’s not the same. Um Oswald Oswaldo PZA has been traded to the Angels. That’s on Fox movie. If they’ve said anything, if Fox has said anything, they have deleted it. So Joe Ryan has not been traded yet. That is um that is a hysterical hysterical miss on their part. if that’s if that’s what happened. Um, boy, I tell you what, this is a blood bath. And you know what? I I just I don’t understand doing this to Byron Buckton unless Buckton knows, hey, they’re I don’t know. You know what I mean? It just is he the uh is he the the player that Dan quoted saying, “Who wants to be here if this is the way they’re going to send everybody away?” Do you think he’s the quote? No, no. I got a feeling I feel like it’s someone who may have been hot at Rockco recently or something. I don’t know. Like, I’m not trying to put Yeah, maybe Jack. I mean, it it was really unfair how they handled Jax in that game and just It was It was But it was a a mistake. I mean, it wasn’t anything. I don’t know. I I Steve Perole of uh who’s he from? Section 10 podcast. I think that’s isn’t that the podcast with Jared Kurabus says someone needs to be fired for this. I’m sorry. They’re breaking Joe Ryan trade tweet which appears to have been deleted. Uh man, that’s wild. That is absolutely wild. Um, I’m I’m just eager to see what Willie Castro brings back. I’m going to be really sad if I have to hop off here before we know Koreah return, Castro return, and if Joe Ryan is being traded because I don’t think he’s going to be. But I don’t know. Again, thank you so much for everyone hanging out with us, too. This has been a whirlwind of a day. I am going to post all this audio. I don’t know how much value it’s going to have from uh two o’clock to five o’clock. But again, we have had just incredible incredible results on our uh trade deadline stuff, especially our last episode on the Duron trade. And I’m sure you and I will have probably some sort of uh recap podcast. I don’t know what we’re leaving left unsaid, but still feels as though maybe a uh a uh postmortem might be necessary. Oh, yeah. I don’t even know today. We, like you said, we might not know until later. And some of us have uh youth soccer practice. now. Yeah. Right now, Yahoo Sports posting that Ryan has been traded and that’s not accurate. At least not yet. Um, see if that’s going to come down. Yahoo MLB is saying that. Yahoo Sports. Uh, I don’t know if it’s MLB. I’m looking. Just straight up Yahoo Sports with 500 almost 580,000 followers. That’s a miss if uh if he hasn’t been traded, which again don’t believe that he has, but we haven’t heard for sure. Um there’s just say that. It does say that. And John Morosei Marosi did not say that. He did not say that. They’ve made a late effort. This is reminding me of Joe Bluth. I’ve made a huge mistake. Um, again, boy, I’m telling you though, if they trade Joe Ryan, I’m going to be beside myself. Hey, wouldn’t it make more sense for us to wait until the deadline to get off the air? I’m just saying. Or do you have to you really have to go? I have to pick up little man before five. So, it’s like I’m uh I’m just kind of You could go and I could sit here with you and you in an empty chair like Obama and Clint Eastwood. I’d be game for that. Um, yeah, we’ll just do that. We we’ll stick with it because uh I can get him. He can be What about if somebody has to use the facility? What about Yeah, true. I mean, well, do you have a minute? This isn’t a Mel Kyper situation where you have to go the whole weekend without going to the bathroom. Um Yeah. Does anybody have a plastic bottle? Just venting as a 22-year-old Twins fan. This is Noah Nickman. I can’t get over how sad this ownership group is. If Ryan is gone, the house better be cleaned. like you’re here here. Uh what does this one say? Willie Castro, a Cub. That’s a good pickup. Mike Cameron, former MLB outfielder who once hit four home runs in a game. By the way, I uh I was listening. Yeah, it’s good. I was uh I’m just telling the listeners I was listening. Actually, I will say this. Who has it worse than me that it was broken to me that the Twins had traded Carlos Koreah by Jim Bowden of all people? Um, so yeah, who has it worse than me? But that was uh that was curious. That was definitely not something I was expecting as I’m driving back from uh my daughter’s school. Um, yeah, I still am a little surprised we haven’t heard back as far as any of these uh Koreah return, the Castro return. Um, again, Castro, an impending free agent, but certainly a uh a valuable player that I think I think teams are going to value more than than I do. I think as far as Castro is concerned, I just don’t see I just don’t see a player who has the total package to maintain the statline he has. I think he swings at too many breaking balls in the dirt. I think he swings at too many pitches um early in counts where he uh you know makes makes easy outs especially in big spots big spots like when the bases are loaded or anything like that and the Twins have been absolutely dreadful with the bases loaded this year sub 500 ops 100 points worse than anybody else uh new new trade John Haymon posting Bailey falter to the Royals that’s interesting uh Ron Bailey Yeah, right. Houston Astros looking at Pete Fairbanks. I think his spoonerism of feet Fairbanks is a lot of fun. Um, yeah. So, I was kind of talking about how I think Willy’s return is going to be fairly sizable. And again, you you know as well as anyone that I’ve been down on Willie Castro. I just I I don’t like his plate discipline or lack thereof. A breaking ball in the dirt, it seems like, is just his uh his kryptonite. And not that that’s unique to Willie Castro. That’s unique to that’s not unique to a lot of players, but um I just I think moving him and getting back some good pieces that the they’ve done have they do you feel like they’ve gone quality, quantity, a combination of both. Where do you stand on how they’ve handled this deadline as far as um pieces coming back? Because we don’t know the totality of it, but I think they’ve done okay. A little bit of both. Um, you know, I think the the really big like we don’t know what they’re getting for um Carlos Koreah and we don’t expect it to be a lot. Um Miguel Andahar appears to have finally been traded again to the Reds and Du um Don uh they got really good quality from Phillies, you know, uh their their third prospect and their sixth or seventh prospect. Two guys in the top 100, although probably at the back end. Um so, you know, that’s good. Uh, and James Outman will theoretically help a future Twins team win games with his defense and maybe he’ll turn into a a better hitter. He has at the major it kind of like Walner. He’s a little Walner like he’s not he doesn’t have that kind of upside offensively, but he’s got some power. and uh if they can sort of lock into what he did before with the Dodgers when he first came up, it’ll be a pretty good player. Have the Twins really been able to maximize what Walner can do, what Lick can do? No. So, is there like reason to think that they could fix or perfect or improve or whatever with Alman? I don’t know. Um, you know, Koul, they got a 22-year-old relief pitcher. Who knows? by the way so far. But it’s Go ahead. Craig Mish saying Sandy Alcantra staying put. I Craig’s probably my my top Craig is my top guy for Marlin stuff. So I would say that I mean honestly if uh if they want to maximize their return on him, maybe having him be good down the stretch and trading him in the offseason is the play. Um Oh, we have a return. We have a return on Willie Castro right-handed or doubleA pitchers Ryan Gallagher and Sam Armstrong. So, I’m going to pull up the Cubs. Uh Ryan Gallagher number eight in their system. He’s 22. He is a righty. Uh ETA 2027 according to baseball uh or MLB pipeline. And then who did I say the other one was? I don’t know. Oh, I uh let me go back here. Um, Sam Armstrong and Ryan Gallagher. So, Sam Armstrong and Ryan Gallagher. Let’s see if I can find Sam Armstrong anywhere. Uh, do not see him, but Gallagher, their number eight prospect, fastball 55, curveball 40, slider 50, change up 55, control 55. That’s Sam Armstrong 62 245. 245. He’s a 13th round pick in 203 from Old Dominion. From Old Dominion. So, Justin Verlander University. Um 462 RA in uh in what? Yeah, JVU. Justin Verlander University. Oh yeah. Oh reference has Ryan Gallagher as starting pitcher and first baseman. That’s kind of funny. He uh one of those everybody’s these days. He played at UC Santa Barbara and between in Knoxville, he’s made two appearances, struck out 11, walked four, and 11 and a third. He’s a starter, but in high a 372 RA, 85 to6 strikeout to walk ratio, 72 and 2/3 innings. So again, I would say uh pretty good pitching prospect. again again probably more quantity than quality in this instance. Um so that was number eight prospect for the Cubs. And then uh the other guy I got again I I apologize. I got to call it up. There’s so much going on here. I’m not trying to to be as flighty as I am. But uh Sam Armstrong I want to look up some numbers on him while you do that. So, Joseph Young wants to know at this point, why would they not trade Ryan? Uh, not contending the next couple of years, might as well sell high. Well, Joseph, hang on for a second. Uh, this is not a White Socks kind of tear down here. The Twins are not out of contention for next year. They’re just not that bad. And other teams aren’t that good, first of all, for one, right? Two, why not trade Ryan right now? One thing that we can do to sort of uh aid in our understanding of what’s going on overall the trade deadline Brandon mentions that um Sandy Alcantara has not been traded. Most of the starting pitchers who have been available there have been a few exceptions but the the high-end starting pitchers are not moving. Those Dustin May and Nester Cortez while you’ve been talking have been traded. That’s not those those guys are fourth fifth starters. um third four, you know, Sandy Al the guys at the top of the rotation. I mean, Dylan CE might still get moved. We’ve got 10 minutes to go before the deadline. Um that’s cool. That that might happen, but the the prices are not being met on any of the Joe Ryanesque starting pitchers. So, I mean, why not trade him? Because you’re not getting a good deal for him. That’s basically it. that and a and b you’re still contending because you have Joe Ryan and Pablo Lopez and Byron Buckton and who Royce Lewis I guess Luke Keshaw and the rest of what the Twins have. So um the Twins are not non-contenders A and B you’re not getting a good deal for Joe Ryan right now. That’s why you don’t trade it. So, well, and and I think like you said, not non-contenders, I think. Or they’re not. Yeah, they they’re they’re not contenders, but they’re not not contenders either. It’s again, uh Rocco’s not loving all this. Um yeah, so Red Sox, Dustin May, Nester Cortez to the Padres’s. Um Evan Cisk, part of the trade package for Bailey Falter. that is a former Twins prospect who um went to the Royals. Yes, went to the Royals with I think it was Stephven Cruz for Michael A. Taylor. So, uh Jose Cabayro getting hugs in the Rays dugout. Oh, he sounds like he’s being traded to the Yankees. Says he can walk down the hall to the clubhouse. Um let’s see what else do we got coming. Jose Caballo, if anything, he’s going to be a gentleman about it. um really defensive player, right? Yeah. And versatile. Uh you know, jack of all trades, maybe master of none, but um hey, it was a player in that game that didn’t get hurt. So, there were all kinds of uh trade speculation on a whole bunch of players in that deal. And then they all like came together in the middle of the field apparently and collided and almost died or something. So, yeah, Stanton and Yandi and Aronda. Uh but Cabalier avoided whatever it was, the the pileup on Interstate 5. So, he’s healthy and now traded to the Yankees. I did Can I read something? Yes, of course. I’ll be the judge of that. Twins Daily, there’s a writer named Matthew True Blood who very often he he runs hot and cold, but I like how he thinks and this is what he said about Koreah. Carlos Kareah is in the third of six guaranteed years on the complicated team friendly deal. So, team friendly, so it’s not that much money no matter what the polls tell you. struck with him in January 2023. He’s making 36 million this year, which means there’s 12 million left for 2025 alone. So, I’m thinking maybe that’s what the Twins are going to pay. After that though, his pay gradually decreases. He’ll earn 31 and a half next year, 30.5 in 2027, 30 million in 2028. All guaranteed. And then there are four club options. So one, two, three, $100 million basically $100 million guaranteed to Carlos Koreah, but the rest of it is club option related. Those options can vest based on playing time, but the Astros can manage his playing time in whichever seasons they like. So, um, it’s the the Twins are getting out for a certain amount of salary, but I don’t see them paying any more than whatever the freight is for the rest of this season, if not maybe something like half. I think it’ll be$12 million. Fairly. I don’t think it’ll be more than that. We’ll see. Bob Bob Nightingale says a significant amount. Now, you know, 12 million Taylor Rogers. Taylor Rogers to the Cubs. Phil Maidon to the Rangers. Uh I figured Taylor Rogers time in Pittsburgh would be short, but that was real short. Um let me uh let me make a quick run. I’ll go get my little man if you want to just hang tight. I’ll be as fast as I can, but uh you think you can handle it? Yeah, sure. Do I have to hit any buttons to end the stream or Adrien Hower to the Rays? Oh, finally. Adrien Hower was traded. Hey, was Charlie Morton traded? Not that I Not that I had any money on it, but I might have written a story. Yeah, Rit Rat wrote a story, I suppose. Um, let’s see here. Where’s Jeff Passen say? Oh, that was just the Dustin May thing. I was seeing someone’s reaction to it. All right, I am gonna jump on out of here. I’ll be back in just a few minutes. Okay, Brandon, you go get your man. So, it’s just me now. I’ve taken over the Twins uh podcast, Locked on Twins, as the trade deadline enters its final six minutes. Um, we’ve only got a few minutes to go. What else is coming in? The Brewers are acquiring Brandon Lockage from the Padres’s for Nester Cortez Jr. So, Nester Cortez Jr. uh leaves the Brewers who apparently have too much pitching uh because Jacob Miser uh Miseroka Miserable Miser Robb is just too too big and too tall and too good. So Nester Cortez is now on the Padres’s according to Ken Rosenthal and Jeff Passen says that the Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring Adrien Howser from the White Socks. So while that’s going on, do we still know anything about what the Twins are paying for Mr. uh Carlos Koreah. We don’t know. We don’t know. Um the last thing we know on the Twins is Willie Castro’s gone, too. So, they’ve made a bunch of moves. Willie Castro’s out of here. Harrison Bader’s out of here. Brock Stewart’s out of here. Joan Duran was out of here yesterday. Um Joe Ryan has been rumored to be the subject of trade rumors, but it has not happened yet. I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think the Twins are trying to uh take advantage of uh any last second whatever going on, panic moves by other teams around the league uh in effort to in an effort to maybe see if they can get uh all their Christmas and birthday wishes on a potential Joe Ryan trade. I don’t think it makes sense to move Joe Ryan. Um he’s got a couple more years of team control. I don’t think the Twins aren’t contenders in 2026. Um, I don’t think the the pitchers that have been moving at the deadline for the most part have been more along the lines of the Bailey Falters and uh Nester Cortez’s of the world, not the Joe Ryan. Sandy Alcantara, uh, we have learned uh, according to Craig Mish, the fine Marlins reporter, is that Sandy Alcantara is staying. You know, you can get a Dustin May, you can get a Nester Cortez, but whatever the the price is for an Alcantara or a Joe Ryan, teams are not meeting it. So, it doesn’t make sense to move him. So, Twins fans are going to There’s lots of emotions going on for Twins fans right now. Uh a few of you have brought up in the chat and I’ve seen on Twitter as well the uh very real uh dynamic that’s happened uh since 2023 when the team um won a playoff series for the first time in 18 years or whatever it was or playoff game and uh advanced to a a later round of the playoffs. I I feel like um it’s uh it’s an emotional time because in 2023 fans were excited to have uh a competitive viable, you know, it was kind of uh you know, the the 2019 season, the Bomba squad team was fun for the Twins. They didn’t win in the playoffs. They did win in 2023. they were making good on the promises that the FAVI regime, the FAVI Lavine regime was uh making. Um it it looked like they were uh going to be contenders again in 2024. Um it was a really up and down year until uh August, September when things just completely collapsed. Um and fans have been upset about that uh righteously so. uh all the moves that the the Pads have made in the past few years, speaking of the ownership and the direction uh from the top down have been to uh save as much money as possible. It’s apparent that at least enough people in the ownership group don’t want to own a baseball team anymore that they want to, you know, make their dough on a twin sale. And uh you know they thought they had a good uh uh taker in uh Ishbia, but he’s going with the White Socks. They haven’t been able to pivot to somebody else. Brandon’s back. What happened, Brandon? I can’t hear you. Can you hear me? I hope you can. Yeah, mute just in case just in case my daughter came in here. I was very quick. Um let’s see. Yeah. So, I understand where, as I was saying, Brandon, I I was, you know, I see where Twins fans can uh feel real emotional about what’s going on and not necessarily in a good way, like they’ve been uh sent through the ringer and betrayed. And um you know, the ones who are old enough probably remember when the Polad’s father signed off on a deal to uh strike the Twins from existence when Major League Baseball was trying to uh subtract teams and not expand. And I think the Yankees got another reliever by the way. Well, what else is new? They got Bird from Colorado earlier. I like that guy. Jake Bird. Camo Dval. Interesting. So, the Giants the Giants have been um they’ve had to pivot because they thought they were going to be contenders and it hasn’t really worked out and they were even talking to the Orioles. So, the rumors went about um Adley Rutman and it would be kind of a fun thing for Buster Posey to add him in a trade. I don’t know that that is going to have any traction, but that also is something that could happen in the offseason. Um so, that that might be dead for now, but not dead yet. So, but I was just saying, Brandon, that I understand how Twins fans can feel betrayed and really bummed out about what’s going on here today. And I’m not going to sugarcoat it and say, “Well, all these moves are for the better or they’re even the right thing to do. They make sense at a certain level, but Buster Posey Buster I think Buster uh Buster ESPN Buster Yeah. Uh only is saying Twins playing about a third of this is MLB Deadline News posting it. So I’m not a third of his remaining salary. So that’s that’s 30 millie. Uh they probably better get a pretty good prospect then. Well, I mean, oh, a third would be before the the club guarantees. See, we we need a little more information here. So, they’ve got like 95 or so million dollars guaranteed. Is it is it that much? So, it come out to about 30, right? I guess I don’t like that. The prospect better be good. I really need Joe Ryan not to be traded, though. I don’t think it’s going to happen. I just don’t think you’re gonna get a good deal if that if that is a good enough reason. I don’t think there’s a good trade out there for him. All right. Trade deadline has passed. Uh Cotillo says the Red Sox are done. So, no. That was the place where Joe Ryan was supposed to go if he was going to go Mats and May. So, they’re done. Um, Nationals did not trade McKenzie Gore according to John Morosei who went to Harvard, I might add. Um, John Morosi, super nice guy. I know sometimes, you know, you know what’s funny? He’s super nice. You know what’s funny is that some of the national guys that people make the most fun of are the nicest guys because I’ve only heard good things about Bob Nightingale, too. So, um, well, I think we should hang here until we get the all clear. Uh, oh wow, white I mean it’s al central news. The Rays have acquired Adrien Hower for Curtis me. Oh no, Griffin Jax is gone. Griffin Jax has been traded according to passing. It gets worse. Wait, I didn’t see that. Griffin Jacks to the Rays. That doesn’t make any sense. Why does that make any sense to why the Rays acquiring Griffin Jacks? It’s so they can use him up and spit him out. Uh uh your guy Charlie Morton Tigers, right? Okay. Goodness. What are they gonna get? Griffin Jackson to the Rays. Jackson is gone. Griffin Jackson is gone. No. So Louis is the team closer right now. Like Louis Varand is the closer right now, right? Bears are not going to win any games anyway. They trade everybody. Oh, the Blue Jays are getting Louis Varlin. What? No. No, they’re not getting Louis V. Now you’re making things up. Ken Rosenthal just posted what? Ken Rosenthal. The real Ken Rosenthal. What in the world is going on? Louis Varand is gone. And they still have Lick. They’ve traded all these guys and they still France and Tai France. Louis Varand and Thai France. According to Mitch Bannon, France got training. Oh, good for him. I don’t thought that could happen. What is happening? Sorry if I’m yelling too loud for the audio, but holy smokes. Well, where is Are they getting back? Latty, have a left. Do the twins have they traded Louis Vand? They traded Vland. That’s what That’s what it’s That’s what That’s what Ken Rosenthal is saying. Are the Twins being uh extracted? That’s not the word, is it? Dang. Twins. I knew the Twins were going to sell, but I thought it would be the franchise, not all the players. Hey, you’re funny. I’m not even trying to be either. Like, I’m I’m out of breath, man. We’re gonna have to hang for a while yet because we’re gonna have to hear back. The Twins, our extra Brandon says, “Perosi, the Astros will pay a majority of What’s a majority mean? 51%.” No, no, no. Remember that was from earlier. I thought um Louisie Varand is shocking, but if the Blue Jays The Blue Jays have pretty good system. I don’t know who I am I am absolutely at a loss for words here. Yeah, you were going all over. You were going overboard before, but now you’re you should not go overboard because this is crazy. So, Louis Varand and Ty France to the Blue Jays. So, your closer is now Cody Thunderberg. I don’t know, man. There’s nobody left. Last man out of the clubhouse. Shut the lights off, I guess. I mean, you’d think Louis Vlad would uh get a lot back. I mean, I think they’re going to be not like uh Leo Deere, but uh some kind of top 100 prospect. But I can’t get excited about that. I am absolutely baffled. Rhoden and Rojasen. You know who Rhoden is? Stingers. Oh, hey. My little man just joined us. Buddy, you you got traded. I don’t know if you saw this, but uh sorry. I’m opening something for my little man. Hey, Brandon. I hate this is live, folks. What? I’ve got to take Remy to soccer practiced. Nope, we’re good. Um, I’m going to ride this thing out to the end and try to figure out what the heck is going on here because this is absolute pandemonium. Absolute pandemonium. I do not know. Like, so Al, you said Allan Rhoden. Yeah, if you got to run, you got to run, Dave. It’s that’s no problem. In like five minutes, but I got it’s a hard five. Okay. So, Alan stays in Cleveland. Oh, boy. When is he a free agent? Two more years, I think. I I I I don’t So Allan Rhoden is 25 from Middleton, Wisconsin, left-handed hitting outfielder hitting 331, 423, 496 at Buffalo. He has had some time with the Blue Jays. He made the opening day roster, but didn’t really He didn’t stick. Well, and who knows what’s going to happen there. Boy, the Twins PR has to be just working their butts off. Oh, they’re they’re dead. They’re Taj Bradley for Griffin Jacks. Do we like that? What does my face say? I So I don’t know. I don’t know. I I don’t know. Kenry Roas. I Or I don’t know. So Taj Bradley in the G. So it doesn’t say just Taj Bradley. Look, look. Yeah, it doesn’t. This is insane. Like this is insane. And at the same time, they still have Pablo, as far as we know, Joe Ryan, Buckton, Lewis, they’re going to spend the last portion of this season sorting out who all they have left. And maybe the only thing I really can’t believe is Vland. That’s the only thing. just because I didn’t think he didn’t just get here, but he just kind of ascended to being really good. And we’re going to try to steal some cute points here. Sorry. Seven more seven more years until he was uh out of control. So, Taj Bradley. Um I I’m still trying to look up Blue Jays prospects to see where Rojos ranks. Um Josh Bradley is a guy that uh he’s only 24 461 erra Rojos Aa 22. He’s number five. Number five. Yes. Number five. CJ. Um, boy, this is I realize me just saying over and over again, this is crazy is not the best content, but I’m absolutely floored. I have never seen. And you know what? I’m glad we did live stuff because this is this is gold. Is it Jerry? I I’m shocked that they traded Varand. I’m not surprised. The only reason that I’m surprised about Jack’s is that it happened so late. Rojas at double A made four starts, struck out 30, walked two. Yes, double A. And then Buffalo, he made he’s made one start. So, um Yep. You got you got brownies, bro. Um Well, this might this might actually be the craziest sell of all time. We’re saying that before, but it might be. I don’t I don’t know that I I don’t know that I like the return. Curtis me waiting on him forever to bear fruit and we’ll see. But um first so Taj Bradley will probably I mean he’ll slot into the rotation obviously which is Kaufman Stadium. Oh, he’s in the minor. Okay. I wasn’t aware that he had been sent down. Um, Curtis is an Australian so they can get revenge on uh not having uh Liam Hendrickx uh bear fruit. Taj Bradley 238 307 322 only 356 played appearances. So it’s not like I’m sorry Curtis me Curtis Curtis Taj down at Triple A has made one start. So he’s he’s not Man, my mind just turned him down. My mind is blown. We still don’t know. Do Young Park, do the Twins have a roster left? I guess uh that’s not his problem anymore. It’s Matthew Leech. Boy, this is Yeah, the heck with that. Uh well, I mean, you know, me will me come me will play first base. Uh, and you can always find relievers somewhere, I guess. I don’t know. We’re not worried about that, though. We’re worried about the future. And the future is so bright. Got to wear shades. All right, I gotta go. Yeah, we’ll talk to you. All right, see you everybody. Now the dog’s barking. All right, folks. We’re going to hang out here as long as we can or as long as we have to to figure out what is going on here. Noah Nickman says he needs several alcoholic beverages. Good to know, Noah, that you’re of age now, which is good. Um, yeah, very eager to see because if the twins, as we suspect, kept Pablo and Joe Ryan, Taj Bradley behind them, uh, Mick Ael. I mean, there there’s a still some things to like here. I Sorry, the dog is barking. That’s ridiculous. But um absolutely bananas trade deadline. I’m going to try beep the dog. Um this is I I don’t even know what else to say. Waiting to see obviously uh Pirates kept everybody which is absolutely stunning. Um Rays hold on to Pete Fairbanks, Brandon Low, Yandi Diaz, but add Griffin Jacks. One for one. Taj Bradley for Griffin Jacks according to Bobby Nightingale. Uh Joseph Young, what kind of dog? We have a half schnowzer, half poodle. So schnoodle. It’s actually kind of fun to say. Um Brandon Walzer says twins traded 10 players. Um Joe Ryan stays with the Twins according to Chris Cotillo. This team’s going to look a lot different. I don’t know what this bullpen is going to look like because if you look at roster resource again, um my favorite resource, it’s uh it’s pretty pretty bleak for the bullpen. I mean, it’s uh Jack’s gone, Varin gone, it’s Sans, Topa, Thunderberg, Tonkan, Davis. Uh, I I don’t know who else even. I mean, Marco Rya might get a chance. Travis Adams might get a chance. Cory Lewis might get a chance. Um, Connor Gillespie, they might put back on the 40. Uh, absolutely insane. Uh, Caspar, I hope I’m saying that correctly. Why keep Joe Ryan and Buck? Well, you have to keep Bucks. He has a no trade clause. He’s not going anywhere. Um, but Joe Ryan, maybe the the offers didn’t materialize and Joe Ryan is really really good. Um Bob Nightingale saying Twins erased a huge chunk by trading virtually their roster in a matter of 12 hours. No wonder Carlos Korea Korea wanted out. I don’t know if that’s entirely fair to say that Koreah wanted out, but you know, maybe it’s uh maybe it’s the case. You know, it’s uh it’s it’s certainly possible. But trading Buckston was going to be a non-starter. And Ryan, I mean, the the pieces are still in place for Ryan and um Pablo and Buckston and Royce to to still make this a team that’s got some cornerstones, but I just don’t know what the bullpen is going to do. I I don’t know um what’s going to happen. Hey, bro, go find your sister. All right, we are Royals getting Mike Yostremsky from the Giants according to Mike Mark Fineand. Um, this is the opposite of a twins deadline uh than what I’ve ever seen. Uh, as Brandon Waler says, Buckston and Lopez are the only twins with guaranteed contracts into 2026. And I don’t know where you go from here. I mean, I’m eager to see what this roster looks like tomorrow. We’re already we’re about what 26 or 23 hours from first pitch in Cleveland. We have no idea what this team is going to look like. I I assume Derek Valve has some sort of idea, but it’s going to be a hi, my name is good to meet you situation. And down the stretch, they’re going to have to figure out who’s who’s who and and who’s capable of what and then what the off season’s going to look like. And obviously trading off all these guys. I think Bob’s on to something when it comes to uh when it comes to shedding money in the sense that uh that was probably a pretty big goal. But I also don’t think so. Okay, Bob Nightingale saying twins paying 33 million of Korea’s remaining 103.42 million. So we do not know we do not know what the return looks like but it if you’re paying 33 million that should be a sizable prospect a prospect or I mean I don’t think they’re going to get a big league player. It says they said prospect all along. So, waiting to see what that looks like, but um man, I uh I’m just dumbfounded, man. Casper wants to know or Caspar uh do you like the Outman return? Yeah, I do actually because the the one chance that he got with the Dodgers where he actually got to play, he was quite good. And um you know it’s not his fault to be on a team where they bring in guys like Michael Conffort. They bring in other guys. They like they are adding adding adding all the time and not they don’t have a lot of time for guys to show what they’re capable of and to that end they get uh they get kind of pushed aside. He only had I think 44 played appearances with the Dodgers so far this year and um didn’t do much. I think he was like four for 44 or five for 44. It’s It’s going to be really interesting to see who has come back in these trades because this is again I I just I I can’t imagine anything like it. And again, 33 million both night and gales reporting twins paying about a third of this deal. They got to change ownership. This is unthinkable. unfathomable. And again, like trading Koreah was kind of I think the the last thing that um the the broke open the dam, the flood waters took over. But uh wow, I’m just I’m at an absolute loss for words. And if you’ve known me for very long, that never ever happens. Um, still no idea who came back for Koreah. Uh, I believe we have the returns on everybody else, but still waiting to see uh Taj Taj Bradley for Griffin Jacks. Let’s look at Taj as far as uh contract because I want to see. So, he’s arbitration eligible after next year, free agent after 2029. Um, obviously a former top prospect, played in the futures game, all that good stuff. I I like the the Bradley return. I think they’ve turned relievers into position players and starters, and I don’t think that’s a bad approach. I just don’t know in the short term what that looks like as far as um the short term. I I really don’t know. I mean, the bullpen is literally going to be all new guys. It’s just gonna be all new guys because even if uh even if you concede that Cole Sans and Justin Topa are probably their last lateing guys remaining. The rest of the bullpen was new guys in the first place with Noah Davis, Michael Tonkan, uh Cody Thunderberg. So you’re got you got those guys who are already new guys and then you add in whoever else is coming from Triple A. High A left-hander Matt McCowski is the return for Carlos Koreah. A source tells the Athletic. Going to pull up the Astros farm system. But Makowski I I don’t get the sense that um that uh that’s going to be much of a prospect return. maybe um Makowski rolling through. Rolling through does not appear to be in the top 30 for uh Emine. So again, not terribly surprising. I just don’t understand why the Twins have uh taken on all that. But uh hey, we’re going to call it a wrap. Um Dave Brown gone now. We’re going to circle back around to uh regular twins content here as we’re able. But uh for now we’re going to say goodbye and thank you so much and we’ll ce tomorrow night.

I'm new here to locked on twins…this is crazy isn't it
Welcome back Carlos. Crazy fire sale you guys are having. I think Carlos will be better in Houston due to familiarity and him no longer needing to be the leader. This is Altuves team. Good luck to you guys
I’m actually happy. I’m looking forward to the future. We were going nowhere with this current group. Now sell the team, fire Rocco and Falvey and restart. I can’t wait to see the young guys play.
This is more exciting I can actually watch them now
Correa wanted out of Minnesota anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Jesus loves you!
Brandon is just a young up. I've been a Twins fan since 1965.
Sad to decimate a team to make selling the team easier 🤬 Gross
