NHL Highlights | Canucks vs. Blackhawks – October 17, 2025
We’ll hear from any of the Vancouver players in this game here this evening. We’re underway. Elias Patterson starting this game with Connor Garland. Little tweak to the lines as Evander Kane starts on left wing on this line which is where Drew O’ Conor began the night for the Canucks last year. Quinn Hughes keeps the puck into the left point. Here’s Garland centering. Knocked away by Alex Blic. And now Dickinson picks up the puck, sends it ahead intended for Ryan Zenado. slides right through to Lankinet who coached the puck to the near corner. Here’s a chance for Donado McKay. Backhander stopped by Lan and rebound chipped wide. Carlson have played here in Chicago. Baines already has a game in this building under his belt. Turnover at center Milton Dock brings the puck in big rebound. Doc again into the globe of Kevin Lanken. Ricocheted right off the pads on the entry. No other look other than towards the net, but Lankin calm, cool, collected. Doc yet to score this season. A couple of assists and gobbled up by the leftsky steals ahead of the play as Kaiser through the defense in on goal. There’ll be a penalty here to Kane or will it be a penalty shot? No, it’ll be a slashing call to Evander Kane. Elias Patterson to take this face off. He wins it from Brian Green, but the Canucks can’t get the puck outside the blue line. Burakovski on the near side puts one across. Jammed in by Danado [Applause] to take it towards the net. Marcus Patterson can’t get it out. And then nobody really commits. And watching the bottom of your screen. There’s Donado. He does most of his work right around the net. 31 goals last season. He puts his skates together and then has his blade there. Blue as he sent the puck ahead is kept in the blue line by Drew O’ Conor but now shot out by Wyatt Kaiser. Knocked down by Riel. Not sure how he did that. Now he centers the puck. Btusi is stopped by Lank. There’s a stick save by Lank on that redirect in tight off the stick of Burakansky. Ling without his stick now it’s in the corner. There’s a right pass and they score the rebound for Tuesday. [Applause] Probably should have been called. Yeah. And that would have been denied if that went in the net. Only interference. And then at this point, it’s a battle at the front of the net for puts it to the point and heroic just checks the wrong guy and it bounces to he’s free to be able to knock this in. And then a final minute tally from Tyler Bertusi to open up this two nothing lead. And that’s where we stand as we get underway here in period number two. Renzel plays the puck into the Vancouver zone. Here’s Garland. Gasser steps in on the right wing. Passes back for Hughes. Had to reach, but he’s able to keep it in. Now down low. Garland centers the puck. De Brusk is there. Jamie Way scores. Jake de Brusk kept after that puck. I don’t know how many whacks he had at him, but he’s able to get it behind Spencer Knight. And the Conucks have a power play goal to make it two to one. On the entry, it’s going to be right down to the goal line and sent to the front of the net from Garland. The Brussels presents the backhand and then was able to muscle it on the forehand right there off the blocker under side of the bar and into the net. his knee and then he was able to win that puck battle. Spencer Knight going off his blocker. The knuckle puck just fluttered wide to the goal. Steel of the blue line. Patterson. Elias Patterson looking across. Nice pass. Mancini and Puck winds up on the near side. Doc went to the bench replaced by Donado who’s now ahead of the play and puts one in front. Bernard alone stopped by Lank. Conor Bernard. Bernard denied point blank. What a chance for him to get his first against the Cogs. And now another save off the dar as Lank stopped him. Haynes knocked to the ice. Here’s Carlson across. Heronic alone centers they score. Max Sass able to tap it home from the crease. He’s got goals in backto back games. He scored in both his games this year. And the Canucks are pulled level at two. Sassy just flat out beat his guy off the boards. Puck battle at the hash marks. He goes in, pushes, and then right to the front of the net. Heronic sneaks down off the right point, holds, sells the shot. It’s never going to come because it’s a pass onto the blade and tapped right in by Max. Dickinson tried to get there. couldn’t take it easy Saturday night or roll in and turn on the TV. Either or. There’s the short house method in the Tomlinson. Evander Kane trying to diagonal pass broken up. Riple standing at the box. He’s back on the ice. Here’s Krebier trying to get loose. Louie creier of all people hit the crossbar on a deep to the forehand. [Applause] Garland. Good read to keep the puck in, but he’s checked by Nazar. Garland gets it again. Finds some room. Puts it across. Peronic is stopped by Knight. Burovski working on Marcus Patterson. Now the puck thrown across to Grizzlick. Chris shot off a skate. Loose for Channing away. And he’s no goal says the ref. No goal. Hawks are celebrating and the referee right there to wash it off from Puzzi hit the pad of Lanken. Right as Lincoln and Pad Lanklin’s pad goes back into the net and I think it’d help push the pad back. But I also think based on that overhead view that maybe the stick at the end got a piece of the puck. But is that too late? Is that And it looks like they’re going to allow Ferman South to deliver the news to the United Center faithful. After the coach’s challenge, it was determined there was goalender interference. The call in the ice stands. No goal. So Chicago is shortanded. Two penalty for Gay. Down to Elias Patterson. Blue J. Patterson moves into the faceoff circle. Cers couple of racks. A third one and he missed on that one. Puck cleared off Hughes and down the ice. 28 seconds. Ranic. Patterson to Hughes. Canucks trying to go ahead here. Hughes just missed. Comes over. Garland shoots. Squeezing it is Spencer Knight and he hangs on. watched by Dickinson. Here’s Garland putting one in front. The brush tipped it towards the goal. Knight reaches out and grabs the puck. And here he comes out of the box. And there’s the pass, but it’s going to go off his stick and deep. And that’s going to do it. Hawks able to kill off the late power play with the holding penalty to Bard. Yeah, the idea is if you’re going to defend, you’ll have Peronic out there. Once you get control of the puck, you get your best defenseman offensively out there. They had a chance to get it and allow Renzel to get to the bench. And now Bernard heads off as well for Arosky. Terrain off the shoulder of Kevin Lanken. Charlotte has room to skate to center. 90 seconds left in overtime. Here’s Hughes. Besser to the net. Stopped by Spencer Knight. Patterson takes his pass. 15 seconds to go. Patterson through the defense in on goal and he’s stopped by Knight. jamming away was Hughes, but the puck is covered and then why not take a chance go in there to the forehand and suspension. Hughes brings the puck outside the line and they might run out of time here because he will have to tag up and this game will indeed go to a shootout. First of the season for both these teams. Tabbo Terrain is going to lead things off. He’s 10 for 26 in his career. And Lankin flashed out the right pad in the blocker to steer that puck to the corner. Just patience. Talked about that. Got to make more of a move there. Lank second shooter for the Hawks in on Lincoln and stopped by Lanken. And this time with the left pad trying to open up Lanken and pushing him back into the crease. Quick feet. Slow down and then try to go five hole. doesn’t get trying to break the ice for the Canucks in round two. He’ll move in off the left [Applause] and he’s stopped by Spencer Knight but kept the glove right at hip level. Garland’s trying to go just under the glove in shootouts in his brief career. Stopped by Len and the Canucks have a chance to win it in round three with Jake de Brusk on his birthday. Nazar same sort of thing trying to pull Lankin across but Kevin Lanken in good balance. See the shuffle with the right with speed trying to end the game. Hit the crossbar. I like the speed aspect. Look at how deep Knight ends up being in. This is a little scores. Kevin Lankin at one end, Brock Besser at the other. And the Canucks are two for two to start this trip. Both games trailing two nothing after one. And Brock Besser wins it at round four. Well, the comeback Conucks get it done in Chicago. Besser the shooter does just that. leans into this snapper. [Music]
Brock Boeser found the back of the net in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Vancouver Canucks a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on the road.

Did anyone go for Dickinson? I didn't see the full game
The only people that deserve to cheer another win from our boys are the few of us who weren't panicking after the first few games. I'm 40 years old. Been a Canucks fan since I was in grade 3. Named our dog Kirk after Kirk McLean. My jersey number in minor hockey was 10 for Pavel. I have watched us lose in two game 7's. I have never given up on them. The biggest detriment to our team is the current media scene in Vancouver. The unnecessary micro analyzing of every move of every shift of every game. Feeding into and creating stories of trades and morale. Literally planting seeds of doubt into our own players. There are always moves that could be made. There is no such thing as a perfect team. We have to win with who we have. We need to quit supporting those in media who create drama and doubt. Our boys need nothing but support and hype and momentum. Let's go!
Good to see the $11M difference maker got all of two shots on goal in tonight's game. WOW!
I see Marcus Pettersson is still sucking…….Sigh!
Bertuzzi is such a slim ball!!!!!
That pass from Hronek on Sasson’s goal was insane
Said it entire last season Elias Petterson had wrong kind of line mates. Now its much better 🙏
9:40 натуральный блондин на всю страну такой один
Exciting game
Lol it's not just 3 or 4 games Petey has been bad. Its been more like 60. Getting a point every three games is not good enough.
can we please make " Max the Ass Sasson" a thing?
Негодяи 🤬
BROCKTOBER
Shout out to Lankinen on his performance between the pipes; shout to the Canucks who contributed with goals and assists, congrats on the OT Win.
Чикаго удивляет с каждой игрой.
Back to back games erasing 2 goal deficits! Jeez..that might generate some team confidence. That would be nice.
Petey better keep playing like this it is 100x more exciting to watch when he’s on his game
What have you done with Elias Pettersson??? He is bad now you have to trade him and let him be free!!!!
Boeser with the finish.. Go Canucks Go!!
hawks vs refs bruh
Petey#40 ❤❤❤ he got some good moves and he shows up on ice ,what a shame he couldn't score in OT
Glad they won anyway , go Canucks go
Blackhawks is not that hopeless this season, good to the army of fans
Sutherland should get a different job.Not surprised to see Garland start on line 1
У кэнакс снова волевая…!
I LIKE SASSONS
Lank the tank took this one. Ya even though nucks won, the D didn't play that well. Topanny chances.
Petey looked good; played hard. I call it the Garland factor
Evander Kane really dont like defensive work uh?
All Nucks victories this year are comebacks. Exciting to watch.
I love this time of year, Brocktober!
Капец Аскарову не везет ,хороший же вратарь ,но оборона дыра
John Shorthouse is THE WORST announcer ever….
The Canucks actually defeated Kelly Sutherland! woot woot!
Why didn't Sportsnet show replays of the non-goal and coach's challenge? Yeesh, this network is an egg.
Looks like sportsnet are removing comments criticizing the corrupt, bent officiating.

Can you please tell me why its more important to show a faceoff instead of all penalty shots?
