NHL Highlights | Panthers vs. Sabres – October 18, 2025

has done an excellent job with this group. He relates to his team. He knows when to push the buttons, knows when to let them just kind of figure it out themselves. And on the other side, Lenny Ruff itself. Keep an eye on Mundell. The face soft leads the team so far with two goals with the extra attacker. They work it up top and Lion fights to find the puck. He does. His penalty kill presented by face off in the Buffalo zone. Panthers get it back to the line. Verhagy cuts in, fires a shot. Saved by Lion and it’s played to the far wall. Back up top. Petri blast stopped again. Rebound. That one throws away from pressure. Back to Jones. They have so many options that they can afford to be patient. Big save by Lion. Ecklad with another chance and Lion makes the stop. You know they’re going to shoot. They’re going to take shots from all different angles. And there’s one from the top right there. He’s able to see it come through. Not able to control it, but he got a little aggressive going out trying to push it off over in the corner because there was nobody there. He gets a stick out. Rodriguez not able to pay on here as they escape by one another for Hegy. Speaking of speed, sends it across. Oh, Alex Lion reaching up with a glove as that was a backhand pass towards the net. Vinsk back in the lineup behind the net. Thompson flips it out. Koulique is up with Benson. Twoon one on the left side. Here comes power to the play. Penalty coming. Successful twice so far for Buffalo. Time for Sabres Power Play presented by Comfort Windows and Doors. Comfort the name you know, the people you trust for your home remodeling needs. Sabres need a goal. Here they go. Thompson threw it to the net and it’s tipped in as D goes to the goal and the Sabres pick up the puck. It’s one- nothing Buffalo. Shooting the puck and Don’s going to collect his first goal as a saber here. Pretty excited. They grab the puck as you said there, Dan. That’s the way to make a statement. How quickly, right off the draw, you get the draw. Bang. You make it happen. Get guys going to the net. Couple quick movements right here. Here’s Tage Thompson getting to that sidewall and it goes right off the left leg of Don into the back of the net cuz he’s got a presence right on top of the blue paint. Sabres with a keep in on the wall. Chance of the slot and that top the bar and Zucker let it rip. Zooker sends it in front. Chance for Byro Flushed out left side. Both to center take to take that pass. Panthers trying to get a shot on that but that one goes just wide from Samoske. down the right side. Thompson backhand pass to the slot for a shot. That one stopped and goes to the corner as Tim stepped into it and then Ta noting how physical the opposition was against him. It seems to be a key as Dolene fires a shot and it’s stopped there by Barbroski wide to the goal. Fans want to call don’t get it. Power from the point with a shot. Here’s a chance off the post. Zucker can’t put it in. Rebound in front. They bang away at it. Oh boy. Here’s the pass across that Zucker’s going to put this one off the near post right there as Broski was still caught a little high out on that blue paint and he wasn’t going to be able to get able to work their way out of the zone forcing the Panthers back to their own end. Now we’re quick up for Greer with a shot fought off by Lion. The rebound drag to the side of the net but Samson stayed with it. Sabres get caught. Time for the kill to do its job again. Third time here in the period. Panthers swine with that blast by Carter for Hegy. Lell behind the net. Back hand. Pass back to the point for Hegy. Lundell turns to his forehand. Dear dot back and forth to the goal line and Samkevich has that one redirected to the far wall up top looking for room. Block shot. Malenstein dropping down in front of a Haggi’s blast. Another block. [Applause] Feeling that one on the arm a little bit. Lion reaching with the pad and the rebound caught behind the net. Samuelson right in front of Lion. Jones up top. Marian near circle. Egg blad save. Rebound. They bang away at it. And the puck’s going to get outside the line. Marshan brings it right back. Alex tuck all over him. Neck glide the trailer pass to the far circle. There’s the shot off the butter and up. Marshad with the sabers back to full strength and Lions swallows that one up and holds on with 427 to go in. Florida won by Buffalo. Benson able to get it down the ice. Now here’s a race for it. Koulique carries and fires. There’s a rebound in front. Borsling tripped up. Is he trying to get to that puck? Sers keep it in. Here’s a chance. Shot right in front. Broski’s got the rebound. Tage Thompson with a shot. And then after, look at it. He goes out there and he’s he’s living a dream and and that’s the way he plays every game. So, under a minute to go in the period. Zucker centers in and at the post. Quinn got a stick on it, but Babroski was able to cover up. Panthers win the draw. Reinhardt passes across Vhgi near side. Samoske with a shot. They dish it in front. Sabres know the book of the Panthers trying to get to that back post and they send it down the ice. Rob camps and I don’t want to hear talk about injuries from anybody’s side. All the teams have guys that are in and out of the lineup. Lean over on the far wall in a battle to keep it in and the Panthers force Buffalo out now. Benson trying to go straight ahead. Shoved to the ice by Jones. Forest kept in by Dolina and Thompson. They’ve got some room to work. There’s a shot by Thompson. Stopped by Broski. Panthers back to full strength and Lion will glove that one down and hold on to it. Underneath far corner holding it, drawing attention. Pad save made by Lion. Petri shot stopped by Lion again. Florida back in near post taken away. There’s a shot by Eggplat and a save by Lion and it’d be awful thoughtful. Yeah, he’d have to he’d have to look through the vent holes on the top. Look out. Darling couldn’t get the shot away. Keeps possession. Here’s a chance. Good stick by Lendell breaking that up in front. Scores down on the doorstep. his second of the game and it’s a power play goal. Savers are up two nothing on the Panthers. Sabres able to do it once again. This getting this puck. Nice job down low there by that Zack Benson being able to come up with that. Flides it over to Zucker there. He’s got two guys on top of him. Pass to Zucker and you see it right on the corner of the blue paint. Dome turns to skate. He’s got the stick down and he’s able to get the heel of that stick onto Alex Tuck stepping up. Savers inside the own line. Here’s Mloud. Nice little pass there by Tuck. Gets it back again in front. Scores all in power. And the Sabres are up three to nothing on the two-time defending champs. It’s a good look. Owen Power does a nice job here coming in right in the backside. I don’t think anybody even realized he had snuck down there. There three guys on the other side. Everybody’s watching the puck and Owen Power got in behind Mandel. everybody there and he just able to reach out and puts it up and over the right pad of Babroski as he’s coming across and is not able to get a hold of that one. Referee saying he was pushed in, so no call. Meanwhile, here’s a chance on a break. Oh, what a save made by Babroski. Back in front for a shot. Everything clears out. But here’s where it happens as they’re exiting the zone. They get a little fired up there. This is Krebs coming down. He gets a break in behind everybody. Tries to go to the backhand air and Bob Broski stays right with it. Gets the glove on that one. I don’t think so. When you retire for from all of this and just do a podcast from the penalty box. All right, third period. Sabres with the lead. Eight Savers picking up points here in this game. Nine were in on the scoring in the win against Ottawa. Here’s a backhand stop. Rebound. Oh, Babroski at the far post and it’s sent back in front again. Benson slaps the stick. He wants it back. High slot shot. Babroski a kick save and I think they’re getting called here yet. Conor Tims to go into the box here. Look forward to their seventh opportunity here on the power play this afternoon. Some good work down low there. Kate Thompson trying to reach out to get that one. Benson comes around the wraparound, slides it right across the goal line right out the other side. No luck there. Has been fantastic. The Savers at three. Looking for another one here. Centering pass. Knock down. Comes back in front. Oh, what a big save. Benson in front on Bombroski. Alex Lion, the former Florida Panther, is going to pick up his first shut out as a saver and the fifth of his career. [Music]

Alex Lyon stopped all 32 shots he faced, Josh Doan scored his first two goals of the season, and the Buffalo Sabres blanked the Florida Panthers 3-0.

  2. So Florida Panthers are 0-4 on the road during this big L streak. What is going to change for this rough week I always embarrassing to get shutdown completely against a young team no playoffs experience .🤔

  3. As a long suffering Sabres fan, these last two games are showing me this team has that fire after all. I really hope this team can build on these last two games and continue to be physical, and what about Lyon? The pieces seem to be in place and I am so proud of these guys. Go Swords! ⚔️
