Falcons Rookie Jalon Walker Is An Offense Destroyer | Film Review

All right, welcome back to another one of our film reviews. Today we are talking Atlanta Falcons rookie Jaylen Walker. And I tell you what, folks, Walker is quickly becoming a star. You talk about a Swiss Army knife, playmaker, run, pass game, he does it all. We’ll break down everything he did so well in the Falcons most recent victory. As always, in the comment section below, give us any feedback you might have. If you’re a fan of these film reviews and want to support us so that way we can do more of them, consider becoming a member of our channel. There’s a link in the description box below that will take you right there. But without further ado, let’s jump right into the film. All right, we’re going to open up the run defense. And there is Walker right there on the right side of your screen. So, what the Buffalo Bills are going to do here, they’re going to run kind of a power concept. Normally, how a power works is you’ve got everyone blocked down and you the backside guard pull, and you have the fullback lead through the hole just like this. The Buffalo Bills have a little twist on it. They have everybody blocked down, the backside guard, the center playside guard, playside tackle, and they bring an Hback in motion to be like the pulling guard, and then they bring the fullback through just like that. Now, this is a situation right here. Jaylen Walker, you got to be ready for the action coming right at you. You’re normally expecting a guard, could be a tight end, could be a fullback. Number 11 does a great job olaying the contact and making the play. A lot of arrows there. Let me clean it up. But again, number 11 right here on the right side of your screen. Keep your eye on him. He does a phenomenal job. Let’s check it out. There’s the motion. There’s a snap. There’s the power concept. Makes the play. Nice work. Let’s look at 11 right here. Walker on the right side of your screen. Watch him olay zero. And then the fullback or Hback, excuse me, comes around, he olays him and then dives and makes a tackle. This is so good because one of the things they teach you if you’re kicking out this block is as long as you have your head up field, right? Like you see right here, this Hback tight end, he’s got his head up field, that should be good enough. But Walker’s such a good athlete that it doesn’t matter. He Olay’s inside, Olays outside, and then makes a tackle. That’s scary good stuff, right? He basically defeats two blocks at the point of attack and makes the play. You want to see a first round pick, you want to see a pro bowler, you want to see an allp pro potential, this is what you’re looking at. This is how you stop a team like the Buffalo Bills, right? Obviously, the way the Falcons ran the football and the way Drake London went off play a huge part in it, but the defense, this is how defeats two blocks and makes a play. Great rep. All right, from the wide copy, you can see Walker right there at the top of your screen. There’s the Hback in motion. Olay’s one, Olay’s two, makes a tackle. Guys, this is just such next level athleticism. I mean just to miss that zero number zero that wide receiver and then jump outside that tight end is just crazy athletic right one step inside next step outside and then make the tackle right he is moving basically 100 miles an hour playing off three Buffalo Bills the receiver the blocker and the running back in like a phone booth and it looks so easy looks so effortless and he makes the tackle I mean it’s just this is so good guys this is when you talk about NFL players being freakish athletes and that they’re not human beings this is what we’re talking out. Phenomenal rep by Jaylen Walker. His future is only getting brighter. All right, next up, let’s go with some pass rush. And there’s Walker right there on the right side of your screen. So, what the Buffalo Bills are going to do here, standard protection stuff. They’re going to have the play side, which is these three guys on this particular play. They’re all going to take the gap to the left. So, left tackle is going to take this gap. Left guard’s going to take this gap with a heavy hand inside right there. Center’s going to take that gap. And on the backside, it’s going to be man-on-man, right? This guard right here is looking for the linebacker. Tackle right here is looking for the most dangerous threat and then potentially working out. So, man on the backside, gap protection here on the play side, which basically means for all intents and purposes, Walker right here is one-on-one against number 73, the really great tackle for the Buffalo Bills. Walker does a really good job in terms of the initial surge, the counter surge. His third move kind of gets him into a little bit of trouble, but I really like what he’s showcasing. Let’s check it out. There’s a snap. Here comes the pressure. Tries to scramble. Hung up in the pocket. Keeps running around. Turns into a scramble drill. I mean, 17, he’s so good. The Falcons defense. Good team defense. Get him out of bounds. All right, let’s go all the way back to the beginning and look at Walker right here. Let me go a little bit further back. I apologize. Long play. All right, there’s number 11 right there. Fires off the football, threatens with speed, transitions to power. That’s what I love to see. Walks a tackle back into the quarterback, but right here he’s inside. 17. Josh Allen thinks he can escape. Walker then goes outside to cut off the escape. Phenomenal work. And then he goes back inside and gets held right there. This is holding at the breath. You’re looking at it. Throw it. Throw the flag. He doesn’t. Disappointing. And 17. Josh Allen’s able to escape there at the very end. But this is such a good play by Jaylen Walker right here. Again, all the way back to the beginning. Threaten with speed. Transition to power. Walk the tackle into the quarterback. Keep fighting. Keep fighting. Get held right there. Now, to be fair, 73 is a vet. He holds him, but he lets go so quickly that the ref probably didn’t have time to see it. Again, left tackle for Buffalo. Very, really good player, very savvy veteran. But Jillian Walker right here, phenomenal jump at the very end. Right. I know the temptation right here is to go inside, but if you stay outside, they have him perfectly contained. End up is it ends up in a win in for the Atlanta defense and for the Falcons overall, but a nice play here from Jaylen Walker a little bit at the end to stay a little bit more disciplined, but boy, his potential is really off the charts. All right, from the wide cop, you see Walker at the top of your screen, threat speed, going to power, walk back into the quarterback, keep working, keep working. Gets through right there. I tell you what, I look at this again. I kind of understand why he went inside because he has an opportunity and Josh Allen is just so good at scramble. He gets outside of him. Look how deep he is behind the line of scrimmage as well. The line of scrimmage was what the 44 yd line of Buffalo. Where’s the quarterback right here at the very end once he tries to escape all the way back at the 31ish, right? So 12 13 yards back. So yeah, right here you don’t expect this quarterback to be this deep and also scramble outside, which is why when he tried to scramble, he really didn’t have anywhere to go. Ended up being a very limited gain like 3 four yards before it was all said and done. But again, really good job by Jayen Walker. This is a really good left tackle. All the way back to the beginning. There he is. Fire off the football. Speed, power, stay with it. Get a pressure. Nice play. All right, let’s go with another pass rush. And this time, Walker is going to be on the other side right here, lined up across the right tackle for the Buffalo Bills. And this time, Walker handles him with a really good threatening outside move and then goes inside to get pressure on the quarterback. Really great rep here from Walker. Let’s check it out. There’s a snack. There’s Walker on the outside. pressure pump fake confuses the cameraman and the quarterback end up going down. Good job by the Falcons defense. Let’s look at Walker. I tell you what, this camera angles for the Falcons game. I apologize. Their film crew isn’t necessarily the best with consistent angles. But I love this from number 11, right? Threatens up field right there. Like he’s going outside and immediately goes inside. And I know we got a pump fake there, so it’s all crazy, but you’re going to see Walker right there. He’s getting held again. There’s no flag, but he gets the pressure. Quarterback tries to escape and they get him on the ground. This is all Jaylen Walker winning 100%. threat with the outside, go inside, get pressure on the quarterback. He still has his head up field, by the way. So, again, Josh Allen couldn’t escape even if he wanted to. Now, again, I’m going to try and freeze frame it. It’s going to be tough. You see that hold right there? Little holding. They don’t call. It’s tough. That’s frustrating, but you’re generating the pressures. You’re generating the negative plays. Good job by number 11. All right. From the wide cop, you can see Walker at the bottom of your screen. There’s a snap. Threatened with speed outside. Go inside. Beat some pressure. Gets held right there. I mean, come on. I don’t know how this isn’t called. Good lord almighty. Just a tough break for Jayen Walker. He’s getting mugged and he’s not getting the calls. But this is a straightup win again. Threat with speed. He oversets. You see all the screen grass inside. He then beats him inside, but he then kind of widens out again right there to make sure he doesn’t get trashed and just slung down and buried into the pocket. Keeps the right leverage. Quarterback steps up. The team is there to bury him. This is good team defense. This is good pass rush. Again, this is why you draft a guy like Jayen Walker. Playmaking ability, pass rush ability. Falcons have gone last year from being not very good at rushing the passer to 2025 being one of the best in football and Jaylen Walker has a big part in that. All right, let’s go back to some run defense and there’s Jaylen Walker right there on the right side of your screen. So, it’s going to be a toss action working this direction for the Buffalo Bills. We’re going to get some pre- snap motion this direction to try and get flow from the linebackers and safeties and like I said, they’re going to try and toss it and out leverage the defense. How it’s going to work with Walker is there going to be a tight end trying to reach him with his tackle coming over as well to try and secure the edge. And Walker, his first step, he gets caught up inside a little bit, but he keeps working. He sets the edge, forces the running back to widen and widen and widen and bubble and bubble. And by the time he’s able to finally get around, the sidelines’s right there. This is great defense from Walker. Let’s check it out. There’s the motion. There’s a snap. There’s a toss. Nowhere to go. Nowhere to go. Scoots out of bounds. Good D. Let’s go back to the very beginning here. Look at Jayen Walker, number 11. First step inside. Not great. He’s getting reached. Not good position right there. But he keeps widening out. keeps working right there. He’s got leverage again. He’s good base. You see how he’s shoulders, knees, hips, head square to line of scrimmage, forces the running back to bubble, and he’s right there to escort him out of bounds. This is really good defense at the point of attack. Sometimes your first step or first two steps aren’t going to be great, but how do you counter and how do you use your hands and feet and use your high football IQ to make plays and help your team win? This is what it’s all about, guys. You don’t get credit for a tackle. No one’s going to talk about you on the highlight film for, you know, making a big play. It’s just not going to happen with plays like this. But it’s good defense. It’s a winning football and that’s what Jaylen Walker is very quickly bringing this Falcon squad. All right, from the wide copy, you can see Jayen Walker right there at the top of your screen. We get the motion. There’s the toss. Sets the edge, holds his ground, running back is the bubble, scoots out of bounds. I mean, right here, this this scheme schematically for the Buffalo Bills should work, right? They’ve got right here, they got hats on hats. They got a receiver getting up to the playside corner. They got two guys on the defensive end. They should at least turn this into a productive play. But because Jaylen Walker does his job, the running back can never get ahead of steam, right? He can never turn the corner because he forces the tackle and tight end to widen. And because he doesn’t give up any ground and holds the edge the entire time, running back just has to scoot out of bounds getting what? A yard or two. Ball was snapped at the Falcons 44. Where does four go out of bounds? The 43 again. Gain of a yard. This is really good defense from Jaylen Walker. Textbook stuff. First step, trouble position, but he responds in a really good manner and makes the play. Nice rep. All right, quick break in the film review. Look, I was taught to break down film by my college coaches at the division one level. All the players are. It’s just a fact of playing football at that level. And I want to take this opportunity to give you guys, the average fan, more opportunities to get that insider knowledge of how the game is taught at that highest level called football. I created a checklist, a step-by-step guide for you guys, 100% free that’s based on how I was taught to break down film by my coaches and that I use today to create these film reviews. There’s a link in description box below that’ll take you right to it. I really appreciate if you guys decide to get it. Again, 100% free. Just trying to share information to you guys, stuff that was taught to me by my coaches. But without further ado, let’s get back into the film. All right, this next play is a high effort play from Walker and I love to see it. And there he is on the left side of your screen. We’re going to get a gap concept here from the Buffalo Bills running downhill, left guard and center, double team up to linebacker, right guard and right tackle, double teaming up to linebacker, tight end working out, 10 inserting for the safety, and the tackle right here. base blocking the defensive end with an out block right here just to try and keep him this direction. Jaylen Walker has outside contain. He sees the motion. So, this is sort of an easy block for the tackle. Jaylen Walker just schematically, he’s not in position to make the play. Number four is going to run inside right here. That’s the design of the play. But I love the effort from Jaylen Walker, right? He does his job. He holds the edge for a second, but the moment he sees it’s a run over here, he fights off the block and jumps in and try and get contact. Again, it’s this next level effort from the rookie that I really like to see. Let’s check it out. There’s a snap. We got the double teams four. Decent little run. There’s Walker to help clean it up. Nice play. Let’s go back and follow this all the way through. Look at J Walker right here on the left side of your screen. There’s the out block right well away from the play. Everyone’s stopping. Look at that effort. He’s still hustling the football. I love to see it. Look at other guys. And I don’t mean to pick on other people, but look at the effort from 55. Not at the same level, right? Look at these DBs. Not the same level, right? And I’m not picking on any of those guys. I’m just saying Jaylen Walker plays with a different motor, with a different edge. We know he’s really good in the run game at the point of attack. We know he’s a great pass rusher. We know he’s a great athlete. He does so many things well. But I love his motor almost more than anything else. He’s a guy that flies to the football non-stop. It comes from his days playing collegiately where that’s what they did on defense. They prided themselves in the hustle and he’s brought that to this Falcon squad. Again, next level effort, next level motor. Nice play. All right, from the wide cop, you can see Walker right there at the bottom of your screen. There’s the inside run. gets blocked up, but he keeps fighting. Keeps fighting. Good effort. Now, you could make an argument that maybe you shouldn’t lead head first just to maybe not draw a penalty here at the end. But the whistle hasn’t blown, right? It’s one of those things. Play with effort. This is how you get forced fumbles. This is how you recover fumbles. Sometimes these running backs aren’t down and they squirt it out there, right? So, it’s one of those things. If the whistle hasn’t blown, fly to the football. Be a part of the pile. I love the effort, right? We talk about championship effort, winning effort on this channel a lot. It’s a secret sauce to a lot of teams. I think Jaylen Walker is going to add that to this Falcons defense. He shows it with plays like these. All right, let’s stay with the running game. And there’s Jaylen Walker right there on the left side of your screen. So, it’s going to be a downhill gap concept coming right at you guys right here. We’re going to get a little motion pre- snap to get a little flow from the linebackers and safeties to follow the motion. And it’s just basically being a lot of gap concept here. We’re going to get the center base block there, tackle or guard, excuse me, base block there, tackle, base block there, double team right here, working up to linebacker, tight end working up to zero. We’re going to get a base block right here on Jaylen Walker. and he fights through the base block and does a really good job. Ends up making the tackle right here on the running back. I don’t like the fact that the running back’s able to fall forward. I think this is something where the linebackers could have helped clean up, but Jaylen Walker checks the box, fighting off the block, making the play. Let’s check it out. There’s the motion. There’s a snap. There’s the inside run. Walker’s there to make the tackle. Unfortunately, the running back falls forward for like five, six yards. I think a big part of that is like 31. You see him fill right here. He kind of gets he overruns the play a little bit. So he doesn’t really stop the momentum of the running back. Zero is blocked up. He’s getting driven off the football. It’s just one of those weird plays. But Jayen Walker, he does his job. Look at this strike right in the tight end. Stay square, good base, and fights it off as part of the tackle. This is good fundamental football. Jayen Walker is such a good athlete. We showcase it on the very first play in the sequence, but his fundamentals are really off the charts, guys. That’s one of the things I love about him. He’s a high effort guy. He’s a physical freak, but he plays the game the right way with good technique. Again, you can see he has a good base, uses his hands, you know, fights off the block when it’s time to make the tackle, you know, he doesn’t play with weird he doesn’t do like weird spin moves or anything like that to jump out of position. He he just plays good, solid fundamental football. And it’s part of a Falcons defense is playing good, solid fundamental football just like we saw Monday night. All right, from the wide cop, you can see Walker right there at the bottom of your screen. Fight through the tight end and make the tackle. It’s one of those things. Good technique, right? Uses his hands, good strike, doesn’t give up any ground, and gets onto the running back. Right? Where’s the line of scrimmage, guys? It’s what, the 27 yard line. Any movement by the tight end? Nope. He actually gets popped back about half a yard. And there Walker is able to make the tackle. And again, I think 31, he overruns this and almost kind of pushes the running back along. Jaylen Walker goes for a little bit of ride too here if I’m being honest. But this is good at the point of attack, right? Takes on the tight end, sheds the tight end, makes a block. And it’s one of those things with Jaylen Walker. He does so many things so well, but his fundamentals, his production, it’s all really good and it’s all getting better, just like this Falcons team. All right, let’s end on my favorite play from Jaylen Walker. And there he is right there lined up near the bottom of your screen. You can see they got three guys right here on this side of the offensive line they got right there. I think that’s a row, although I can’t quite tell. You’ve got Jaylen Walker right here. And you’ve got James Pierce Jr. right here. More importantly, they got two edge guys right next to each other. It’s time to wreck havoc. But this is versatility, guys. What Jaylen Walker here does is so impressive. Everyone thinks he’s rushing the passer. Where’s he going? Is he going around? Is he going through? Is he going outside? It’s something that Josh Allen’s got to focus on. But here’s the thing. The Falcons have a trick up their sleeves. Let’s check it out. There’s a snap and he’s in coverage and he covers the crosser. Guys, there is no answer to this for opposing offenses, right? Cuz in situations like this, quarterbacks, if if they think the rush is coming, they’re going to try and to beat man coverage, they’re going to hit one of these crossers or like one of these guys is going to be open. But here’s the thing, Jaylen Walker just took care of that guy oneonone, locked him down. I don’t know what you do if you’re an opposing offense. What What do you do? Right? I mean, he ends up forcing it down the field on like a go route and kind of out and up right there. It’s an incredible throw. I mean, Josh Allen is incredible. But in terms of schematically, right, the whole theory here behind this blitz and all these people coming is that you throw behind the blitz, Blitzers go, you throw it to that area where he was coming from. But Jaylen Walker, a defensive lineman, an edge defender, runs across a defensive formation. Remember guys, he lines up head up or outside, I should say, the left tackle. And two steps into the read, he’s now in a position here to intercept the football if you throw it to this crosser. This is bonkers level stuff. As a quarterback, you’re like, “Okay, right now I got to throw it to this receiver.” Turns out he’s covered, right? And it becomes a dead play and Allen does an incredible job just throwing it up. This is Jaylen Walker’s versatility, his playmaking ability. We talked about the pass rush. We talked about point of attack, run game, we talked about backside, we talked about effort. Now we add this kind of crazy versatility, this flexibility he gives this Falcons defense. Folks, I know people are impressed by Atlanta, what they’re doing on both sides of the football, but they need to keep an eye on Jaylen Walker. He may be the entire piece, the most important piece to this Falcons resurgence. He’s a Swiss Army knife to the extreme. What a draft pick. What a find. What a great player in

The Atlanta Falcons have a star in Jalon Walker, undeniably so. Walker has an incredible ability to defeat whatever the Falcons opposition does. The Atlanta Falcons have to be really excited by the emergence of Jalon Walker.

  1. I know we had offensive stars but was most impressed with the Defense. FALCONS have been in need of a defense for so long. Theyve had a player here or there but never seen them play like that. Cant belive how well they kept Allen from running free.

  2. You got to keep fighting. The one play where Josh got free there was 56 or 96 cant remeber right behind him and juat giving up when Allen dodnt even seem to have a clue he was behind him. Had it been 11 he would of blew him up and prob caused a fumble. I get ur tired but cant give up when ur the only guy in range. 11 shouls prob be retired for Julio but Walker a Dawg and wears it well. Hard to go wrong with GA defensive players from past several years.

  3. Y’all have to keep watching the video. He gets to more plays. There are so many things one can touch on when watching tape that it can take a minute or two to get to the next play.

  4. That last play you can tell Josh's first read was that exact crosser and you can see where Josh says "oh shit" when he sees Jalen go out in coverage and has to scramble LOL

  5. It's mostly the secondary, but the dline contributes significantly to the fact that the Falcons haven't given up more than 200 passing yards in any game this season.

  6. Great job on highlighting the plays that aren't necessarily as splashy. Pressures that don't turn into sacks and forcing a ball carrier to one of your teammates doesn't show up on the stat sheet but is a huge part of making this number 1 ranked defense.

  7. The Falcons are pre meditating a gang rape of the next team they play. They are willing to sexually assault anyone that comes their way. They will all have to register before the seasons over😂

  8. Anytime you see a player in the state of Georgia with the last name Walker I can assure you they are all athletic enough to play in the league if they are coached right! I lived about 2 miles from Hershal walkers house still do the house he grew up in and still owns since his mother passed he used to run by the house everyday keeping in shape for off season our families knew each other well I knew he has a lot of family around us too but all through school everyone that went out for Football basketball or track if they were a walker they were his family and everyone of them were crazy good at what they did lol Now I can't remember where Jolen is from if he's any keen to him at all probably not but any kid I see play for The Dawgs that's a walker I figure he's keen some how lol and I know just name sake he's gonna be good
