After Josh Allen’s Performance vs Falcons, Feel Better About JJ McCarthy

What’s going on, Jeromes? So, you remember back to week two, it’s like a month ago where uh JJ McCarthy, Jonathan James McCarthy home debut at US Bank Stadium, everyone’s loud and proud, wearing the Bud jerseys, everything was good to go, but then uh uh Vikings end up putting up six points. They don’t get in the end zone and JJ McCarthy has a high ankle sprain just gets battered about all damn g game long and even plays the fourth quarter on that high ankle sprain but just wasn’t enough right and overall like it it wasn’t a great outing 11 for 21 a buck 58 uh two picks um one of them was tipped six sacks 43% pressure rate it was just a mess and 22 to6 loss even though it was a one-sore game heading into the fourth quarter and the Vikings defense just had an amazing stop again because they made panic soft that game and then Brian O’Neal just decides not to block somebody and then free rusher strip sack basically ball game at that point. Yeah, but overall like there there’s a lot of things going on in this game. JJ McCarthy missed practice that week because of the birth of his child. That’s amazing. Also probably on low sleep and because people are human, they’re not robots. and also no Darasaw. Kevin Okconor was still trying to figure out uh game planning and and and play calling and it was just a mess. Now what was colored by this is that people, you know, Vikings fans still be like, “Oh, it’s the Falcons. The Falcons suck.” But not so fast, my friends, because I I know that people ready to run JJ McCarthy out of town after two games, right? And everyone’s saying, “Oh, it’s the Falcons. Same old Falcons.” That’s why you don’t really get a handle on an NFL season until, you know, week six, seven, eight. And even then, like who who’s good right now? You can’t really say. Colts, maybe. Yeah. Uh, but everyone was trying to throw JJ McCarthy under the bus. Everyone was saying, “Boo, this kid doesn’t have it. Boo, time to move on.” But then, not so fast, my friend. last night. Last night she said Monday Night Football jumping Josh Allen, the alleged reigning defending MVP married to that cool actress from Sinners and uh like Pitch Perfect 3 or something. Uh oh no, she was in uh she was in uh the the Jeff uh Jeff Bridges remake of True Grit. She in True Grit. She lost an arm. Anyway, Josh Allen basically lost NRA because uh the Bills lost bad. Uh 24-4 to the Falcons. Uh Josh Allen 15 to 26 for a buck 80, two touchdowns, two picks, sacked four times. 72 uh 72.6 quarterback rating. First time Josh Allen’s had two turnovers since like last October. and they they made him look mortal because all of a sudden, hm, maybe that Falcons defense under Jeff Albrich, under Raheem Morris, uh, after they traded their soul for pass rushers in the draft, maybe they’re all right, maybe they’re okay. So, the Falcons defense this season, including Monday night, second in passing yards per attempt. So, they already had their buy, so don’t put a lot of stock into Well, they’re number one in yards allowed. Yeah, because they they they didn’t play all the games. uh fourth on third down percentage, fifth in defensive EPA, uh four 14 sacks, eight turnovers in five games. They have not allowed more than 159 yards passing in any game this season, which is which is good. The 159 was week one against Baker Mayfield and the Bucks, a game that they lost because uh Pennix was short. Yeah. Uh but but of course the reaction is because you got Josh Allen’s game. You have JJ McCarthy’s game from week two again, his second career start under trying circumstances with no Christian Derasaw, no Jordan Addison, and then Brian O’Neal just letting pass rushers go. Let it go. Let it go. Uh but Josh Allen versus JJ McCarthy. This is the reactions. Josh Allen. Oh dear. Oh. Oh. Oh. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. Where’s JJ McCarthy? You’re a donkey. Please. Please, please, please. It’s okay. Have a little faith. Have a little faith in nine. Feel like everything’s going to be all right. Even if he’s not back this week or next week, if he’s back in November, uh if he’s White Clav Jean gone till November, that’s fine. It is what it is, right? But have faith in number nine. I I I feel learning on the job, taking time to develop a quarterback. It’s something that the Vikings have not done in a long time, and it is going to be his show. And th this does don’t say that the Josh Allen and the Bills performance against the Falcons excuses you what the Vikings and JJ MacArthur did week two, but it does put things in context where maybe the Falcons are actually not ass. Thank you. Who knew? Who knew, man? Uh but it’s all right. Get that ankle good to go. Um hit the check down a time or two. Speed things up. Have the mechanics right. It’ll be fine. Yeah. Anyways, your thoughts are thoughts. Jumping Josh Allen, the alleged reigning defending MVP and his performance against Atlanta may maybe makes you feel a little bit better about Jay McCarthy week 2. And it kind of stinks to say, but maybe f the Falcons aren’t ass. Thank you. Who knows? Anyways, let us know comment section. You guys the best. You know what to do. Skull production value.

  1. #1 – JJ's team. Full stop. When healthy, he starts. Enough. #2 – Except for the Lions loss, this weekend was a$$ for the Vikes. Falcons hold the tiebreak; BEARS WIN – what?!? Game plan for g6 and 7 need to be on point no matter who is starting. SKOL!!

  2. Look at all these whiners talking about how some of us fans don't have faith in KOC and McCarthy. We can have our opinions and you can have yours. I'm still willing to give McCarthy a chance, there is still hope. But it's obvious he hasn't gotten off to a great start and we have every right to complain about that fact, and the fact getting rid of Sam was a counterproductive decision that hasn't shown benefits yet. So slow down on calling us traitors. If McCarthy actually works out I'll be the first to say I was wrong.

  3. Daniel Carlson is now 2nd all-time for most points scored while being one of the best kickers in the league, and fans of this team still havent learned to be patient with young talent. Meanwhile, theyre clamoring for 2 dudes who, for the first 6 years+ of their careers, were widely considered the biggest busts of the last decade, but now that they've had time and found proper infrastructure, are having success. Make it make sense.

  4. The Falcons' D is legit but our offensive line not playing well didn't help in that game. People needs to have patience with JJ. Look at Drake Maye, he didn't that great last year when he finally became the starter. But now, he looks like a legit franchise QB and his team is leading the division.

  5. Captain obvious here. McCarthy needs to find a way to stay on the field of the 6 quarterbacks taken last year he is the only one that has done pretty much nothing with a 1-1 record and played well in 1 of 8 quarters. Love the kid but he has to stay healthy.

  6. Don’t buy it at all this falcons team lost 30 to 0 against Carolina explain that . So what your saying when teams beat other teams you come to another conclusion. So the giants who stuffed eagles are favourites for superbowl? . When you’re bad your bad it happens

  7. I can't recall a quarterback getting this much scrutiny after two games of his career. Give the man a chance I'm excited to see what he could become I hope he can stay on the field. Personally I don't care what national media says about it I'm hoping McCarthy will shut them all up

  8. Good points Andy! 👍Knowing how 'football smart' & consistent Brian O'Neill has always been, I suspect that his missed assignment that resulted in the McCarthy strip sack was most likely poor communication, e.g. during pre-snap adjustments, O'Neill may have been told to expect an RB to block that rusher.🤔
*It appears that the Falcons only need to deal with their inconsistencies to become a legit playoff contender.I They are most certainly on the right track as they build a competitive roster, unlike the Jets & some other teams who just seem to go around in circles…and down the drain! 🤔It makes me grateful to have Kwesi A-M & KOC, who have had the Vikes heading in the right direction, once they had accumulated a season of in-game assessments & learned what the roster needed.
    SKOL!!!

  9. I don’t get why we’re so quick to throw in the towel for JJ. He’s only played two games. I love you always optimistic. Been watching you for years now and when the team gets me down, I always gotta go to your videos.

  10. Hpw about the defense too? Vikes did a pretty good job containing London and Bijan after watching what they did to the Bills. Not that the Bills defense is greatest but still.
