The second paragraph (the sign and wave) are headed to Austin. Teams do that, to keep players on their G-League team that they like. Otherwise the player can be plucked off your G-League team by any NBA team. Those are the rules.
The only part I don’t get is why they signed and waived three guys who weren’t on the squad this year-I’m guessing it gives them G-League rights or something.
I wanted them to pick up Bouyea last summer; sick handles.
This was all 99% certain the moment we signed Biyambo.
Even if some people have no faith in McLaughlin, out of our 3rd/4th string gaurds he is the only one with NBA experience, so I would’ve been very surprised if he got cut. At that was probably the only question mark out of the 15 full roster spots, and on signing DJG the 2-ways seemed pretty set as well.
These guys have been useful additions for training/preseason, but all would have known the deal. Hopefully they’ve now got their name out there so next time we/another team have some injury trouble and are looking for a 10-day or a 2-way they can get more of a chance in the season.
They just never proved to be worth it in the end.
No surprises. Minix is probably the only player that hasn’t played all that great and is probably on borrowed time. But I get he’s already under contract and no one waived was worth swapping him out for.
I think Umude will be an Austin Spur, he’s a hometown kid who has some real talent
I think all three cuts end up on the Austin squad. They looked good in enough moments to invest a bit in.
