  1. No kidding, why wouldn’t they want to live on the west coast and be with Ohtani for the same/if not more money.

I understand wanting to be the **man**, but that’s assuming they have American culture instilled in them versus wanting to be with friends.

  2. Well yeah. LA is closer to Japan than New York is so the dodgers will snatch all the Japanese talent

  3. I don’t think they ever did, but it doesn’t matter when your media publication only posts AI crap.

  4. We will need to offer better contracts, be less dicks in the NY media (never going to happen unless the Post burns to the ground), hire world class Japanese chefs, sign agreements with ANA/JAL, and install Totos in every clubhouse bathroom.

We’re screwed with the media, but everything else is doable.

  5. Cubs got Shota and Seiya, it’s not like its all of Japans WBC team is going to the dodgers

  6. They literally never did they always stuck to the West Coast to have the shortest flights to Japan

  7. The biggest problem is they have no influence anymore. To a lot of young guys coming up the Yankees are literally just another team with no current WS trophies on their belt. It’s that simple. Also the dodgers have spent money literally cornering the market in Japan. Yankees never even tried. And now you combine that with Ohtani as a superstar in that La market? Smh

  8. Dumbass article

They prefer the west coast because it’s closer to Japan. Doesn’t mean the Yankees can’t still lure guys who want to win.

  9. If Seattle had any sense they’d start going after these guys more aggressively. They have a major Asian community in the city and they’re finally a competitor.

  10. Its more of a East coast thing than a Yankee thing imo.
At least from a Phillies fan point of view Japanese players are always gonna go west coast 1st.

  11. Could’ve sworn I read that Japanese players actually don’t want to play together 🤷🏼‍♂️

  12. Probably good for the league if there’s an international draft or else the Dodgers are gonna have Japan as another unofficial triple A club.

  13. I really think it’s important to pay to get a Japanese star the next time there’s a fit. You want to get off the schneid on this one.

  14. Not much of a surprise since Japanese players view The Dodgers as a stable competent elite organization with 2 World Series championship wins going on 3 Othani being there is just the icing on the cake

  15. Doesn’t really matter. Plenty of great players here who would kill to play for the Yankees.
