MAJOR MLB REPORT: Tarik Skubal Tigers gap in negotiations | Mets trade possible
Hi everybody. This is the baseball head, the amazing, spectacular, terrific, the great one, the people’s champion, your host. Welcome back to the baseball head. Hopefully you like this video. Hit that subscribe button. As you know, the man’s not playing. But we have an interesting interesting rumor uh that’s popped up last uh happened on Friday. Popped up on Friday. And this is with the Tigers ace scubble. As you know, he’s probably going to win the Sai Young this year. won the Sai Young the American League last year and he’s got one year left on his contract and there is a possibility uh that he’s probably going to get moved this off season and uh Tigers aren’t really the type of market that can probably afford him. Um his agent is Scott Boris and uh you know where this is going to go. He’s going to hit free agency. But in the meanwhile, if you’re a Met fan, you know the New York Mets need a big pitcher at the top of this rotation. They probably need two starters, two veteran starters in this rotation. Uh, one guy like him, an ace, and a guy that can eat a lot of innings and pitch deep into games. Uh, they need those things. And they’re probably in this kind of scenario of a school bowl trade, the Mets will have to trade some of their young pitching. I would trade all my young pitching except for Nolan Mlan. Jonah Tonga is very much available and so is Brandon Spro. Well, let’s get into this and uh let’s start off. There’s two articles from SNY. The first one headline potential Mets trade target school and target have massive gap in extension talks according to a report school who’s who was represented by Scott Boris to set the hit free agency after the 2026 season. Now we’re going to have a lockout next year. We’re going to have a labor uh shutdown because the players are not going to want any kind of salary cap and the owners want the salary cap to keep the New York Mets from spending a lot of money. Don’t doubt me. With Tigers ace Theres Scubble a year away from free agency, possibility is that Detroit will make him available via trade. This offseason while seeking a massive hall in return. And John Haymon, the Scott Boris Whisperer of the New York Post reports that the gap in what the Tigers have offered and what school is seeking could be roughly $250 million. So he’s gotten this from the horse’s mouth. We know he’s very close with the scup horse. the report from the post regarding Detroit’s offer similar to one that came out last November from from Evan Hoid in the Detroit Free Press who know that Tigers off at the time was non-competitive. Meanwhile, Tiger’s owner Chris Ilich Christopher Ilich gave a a bit of a weird answer earlier this month when asked about the possible school extension. any more intrigue to the situation is the fact that the 28-year-old’s rep by Scott Boris ordinarily takes his biggest clients to free agency. That means the calculus for the Tigers could be simple. Trade school this offseason maximize his value or run the risk of losing him for draft pick compensation after the 26 season. In a world where school was available this offseason, the Mets would almost certainly be very interested interested and in a strong position to make a highly competitive offer. News farm system is among the best in baseball and was recently rated by ESPN as the number one system in MLB. The school one year from free agency. The course acquire him would be lowered in a scenario where he had multiple years of team control left, but it will be it will still be huge massive. It’s unclear what the Tigers would be seeking, but the Mets have blue chip pitching prospects and hitting prospects who are close to the major and others who are further away. So, it’s fair to believe they’d be able to put together a package that piques Detroit’s interest. Among the Mets’s top prospects are pitchers Jonah Tong and Brandon Scroo, infielder Alfa Jeff Williams, center fielder Carson Benge, first baseman Ryan Clifford, third baseman Jacob Reamer, and short sub Elellion Payne. As far as Nolan Mlan, it’s hard to envision the mess, including him in a deal for any player who’s a pending free agent. Now, these players the Mets have are on the cusp get into the major leagues. All of them except for uh Tong and Spru we’ve seen Jeff Williams in triple A, Carson Ben is in triple A, Brian Clifford is in triple A, Jacob Reamer is in double A and Ellie Pñena is in Dominican summer league. Uh the Tigers have a big manager AJ Hench. Um, so there is a very good possibility that this the Mets will be in on this. Now, I have another article from SNY and this is from little Andy Martino. I call him Little Andy Martino because he comes up small. Uh, he’s not a very nice individual. He’s kind of a bit of a jerk. So, we call him Lil. I think it’s funny, too. Little L I L Andy on the men century scoo al s young candidate slayed the hit free agency after the 2026 season Thursday’s report in the New York Post that the Tigers and Sing award winner three school with $250 million apart on contract value landed a significant development this winter starting pitching trade market a market in which the Mets will be involved if team and player are that far apart 12 months before school with his free agency. It is logical ass to assumed that the Tigers will explore trades. My school will remain with the Detroit with Detroit next season, sure, but the post story seemed like a bit big move in the other direction. Subse report in the Detroit Free Press added the Tigers last year offer scoop a four-year contract for less than $100 million. That’s not even trying. That wasn’t that wasn’t going to happen. Leaks like this more frequently precede baseball breakups than they do marriages is also being leaked by um Scott Boris. The Mets are looking for pitching. In fact, they would love to have a best-in-class ace as soon as possible. All skins the dream target for any club seeking a an ace. The teams will be interested. Do not expect the Pirates to make skins available. Another year skins will be available. Mets should call the Pirates just to be sure. But now school seems far more attainable. If when the Tigers do take calls and school will expect the Mets to be motivated and involved. Uh while little Andy doesn’t think the Mets will deal no MLAN for one year of any player claim is part of the future not a trade piece. Mets surely know they that they would have to discuss just about any other prospect or a young player to land school because the Tigers are in their wind window to win. They probably want MLB talent in addition to top prospects like Jonah Tong and Jeff Williams. What it’s worth, Detroit has expressed interest in Brett Batty in the past like Batty but in general willing to shake up their current position player group group for a pitcher like Skoo any team would part with good players. Now um I would think that I’ve seen this and I would think that David Peterson would be available because he has one year left on his contract too. Uh he’s left-handed. He’s not on the level of school, that’s for sure, but he’s a major league player. they they can massage it and say he’s an all-star u with the Tigers. I know he did not pitch well down the stretch, but I think he sort of ran out of gas. Uh I think that’s kind of what happened with David. David pitched so well the first u two/3s of the season that you can’t sort of dismiss that and say he’s he’s garbage. And a lot of people are saying that. Also, Jet Williams is a big piece. He could get moved. I mean, he could play in the outfield. play in the infield. He needs more seasoning in tripleA. Jonah Tong is a pitcher that has come out of nowhere. He’s probably the best pitching prospect in the game. The Mets would have to surely have to give him up if not Brandon Sprro. Um they would have to give up major league talent. Maybe you throw in Jeff McNeel on a deal like this because they are they do want to win. Uh they did win their division this year, I believe, but they did get to the postseason. But the the Tigers are in win mode as well. Uh but they they can’t afford this. They they’re not going to sign school to this kind of contract that if he’s up for 400 million, they can’t sign him. The Mets can sign him, but uh uh and of course with the labor strife that’s that is staring us all in the face next off season, players like this are going to get moved. He is he is the biggest player that’s that’s going to be on the market next year, I would think. And if he stays healthy, he’s going to be he’s going to have a big year. I mean, he’s going to have a massive year this year or next year coming up. And the Mets need to go and be all in uh trade whatever they got to trade to get this pitcher because this team needs a big pitcher. I mean, they need a lot of things. I mean, one of the things they need to do is change personality. This this position group, this position player group. They need to do that because they’re a little too passive. They need a little more uh piss and vinegar here. Yeah, a little bit. You know, I’ve said this in other videos, the Mets are are too nice. Too many nice guys on this team and they need to get a little bit meaner with the position player group. It needs to be more of a killer instinct with this with these position players and they kind of need to sort of move some of these pieces out of here to help this group out. Um and of course, they need some big pitching. They need a big ace at the top of this rotation to anchor this rotation so that the Mets don’t go through these stretches where guys can’t go through the fourth inning, third inning, fourth inning, and then then you got to go to the bullpen. Can’t go through that every every side, every time you go to the rotation. Can’t keep doing that. It’s just going to kill your team. Not just the bullpen, but just your team in general. Uh we will monitor this as we know. And of course, I love talking about rumors and this the time of rumors. This is an early rumor, but this this guy’s going to get moved. And next year, Paul SK will get moved. Paul Ske is another year away. Once he hits arbitration, folks, he’s going to get moved. So, that’s another guy to keep an eye. But right now, the Messi pitching right now, they need a big ace of the staff. And they need a number one starter. They got the big p they got the big player last year. I have no doubt that even if they even if he gets traded somewhere else and the Mets have to sign him next year, they will do that. Steve Cole will leave no stoner unturned to win a World Series. He’s doing his best. Well, let me know what you think about this video. And of course, this is the dark hut, and I will tell you like I I see it. I’ll tell you what I see, and I don’t care about the players feelings at this point. I don’t care anymore. I’ll be mean if I have to, and I’m going to be mean. That’s how it is. I wouldn’t too mean in this video, but just keep that in mind if you’re watching. So, thank you for watching this video and I’ll see you

I would trade Jett, tong/sproat, and vientos for him.
I can see Peterson, Alvarez, Tong or Sproat and either Jett Williams or Carson Benge for Skubal.
I have no idea who the C would be i admit…
Also I could see the Vientos/Acuna trade talks for Luis Robert of the White Sox being re-visited.
Last thing….their talking about going after the Japanese 1b…right…but the thing is, I know he would cost less then Alonso would…but Stearns talks about run prevention and they talk about Alonso being a bad defensive 1b….if you look at highlights of the Japanese 1b….he is not a good defensive 1b either…
This news is a couple days old!!!
The Mets may offer but if the Phillies offer Andrew Painter, Aiden Miller and Justin Crawford, that would be a way better deal.
