Florida Panthers vs New Jersey Devils — CNR Post Game LIVE
[Music] [Music] [Music] Hey everyone, welcome to our first ever postgame regular season show here. I’m your host Kirby Lupal joined alongside my co-host Cody Stevens and our special guest here today. You’ve seen him here before in the community, Chris Scott. Wish we had you on better terms here, Chris. Tonight, Panthers lose three to one to the New Jersey Devils. Um continue this skid on on the road. our latest podcast episode, we talked about how the Panthers got off to a promising start, but um something that I mentioned to my co-host Chris, when the Panthers hit the road here, that’s where the adjustments will be made. And uh I don’t know what we’ve seen here so far. What have we seen here on the road, not even just tonight, Chris, but on this road trip here? We’ve definitely seen a lack of offense, which I think we all knew we were going to struggle with that. Uh but at the after the first three games it seemed like we were putting a lot of pressure on teams but we just couldn’t put the puck in the net. Past couple games we hadn’t even been doing that and we’re not we’re not getting it into the zone. No sustained pressure and and therefore lack of good scoring chances and it’s it’s been hard to watch. It’s been hard to watch. Uh, this team has got to figure out how to how to live without Bararkov and and I mean we’ve played without Kachchuck in the past, but playing without Barov for basically the entire season, if not the entire season, we don’t know how to do that yet. And and it is showing it is drastically showing the longer that we we go. Uh Maurice is changing lines all the time trying to find a spark. As of now, we don’t really have one and it’s we’re leaving our poor goalies out to dry and it’s it’s kind of frustrating to watch. Cody, I mean, it ain’t much different than that. It’s just uh right now we the forward no forward is playing well right now in my opinion. You you could say maybe Luke caught in some fourthline guys, but none of the guys we need to be good are playing good right now. It’s so much disconnect right now amongst the forwards. As you could see, when you get in when we get into the zone, it’s mainly just these little passes that are one or two inches off. There was a lot of reaching tonight, like one hand on the stick, just trying to reach and hit the puck. There was a bunch of that tonight and the Devils took advantage of it with their speed. It’s more like to tonight felt like the culmination of four words. You reach, I teach. Like that’s what it felt like because how many times did our defense would kind of get walked around by the Devils and they got into the zone deep. And it wasn’t like the it wasn’t like normal New Jersey hockey where they’re like everything perimeter base. A lot of this stuff came from below the goal line and we lost those board battles. And the forwards right now are putting so much pressure on the D to not only defend well, but create all the offense as well, which is borderline impossible. You pick one. You play offense and you play defense. You could try a little bit of both, but guess what? One of them’s going to be lacking. Luckily for us, we have two good goalies in net and Denil Terasov and Sergey Babroski tonight solidified my confidence in Terasov. Sign him to an eight-year extension. Like some fans coming into tonight, Chris and Cody, they were worried about like I don’t know more than 20 starts. Even one of our coach, Nick Leavine, talked about that. I was I’m at 25 closer to 30 now. I was at that even before coming into tonight because of what we saw in the preseason, what we saw in his first start. And could you really blame him tonight if if what you saw out there on the road, you know, New Jersey Devils playing their home opener as well, um, you know, having to play another team in their home opener, that doesn’t make it easy either for the Panthers. Why is your home opener this late? Like that makes no sense. [Music] Like, and you know, and one of I guess one of the good things is you have three very winnable games in front of you right now, which is Buffalo, Boston, and Pittsburgh. Those are three winnable games. I agree with Yep. here on the screen. The the game started to shift at the end of the first. It seems like right now with the personnel we have, guys, it’s okay. We have a push for 10 minutes, 20 minutes. After that first period, it kind of dissipates. And especially when you’re on the road, I feel like that’s where the energy is lost. That’s where you’re back to back. And right now coming into th this game tonight guys something that I wanted to see when Bararkov went down at Looster Rinan ends up moving to the center position now they’re starting to jumble up the middle of that ice Chris and we talk about this all the time on the cats and rats how important the middle of the ice is how much you know Bill Zto values that how much Paul Maurice values that and now they’re mixing that up. Look, it’s right now they’re trying anything and everything right now just to find any sense of just consistent play like Maurice is trying everything may and right now as stated earlier you know we claimed him defenseman all flavors Donovan Sbrango from Ottawa he’s dealing with some current visa issues so he’s not currently with the team so I don’t see him playing for like another week or so even if that’s the chance But right now, you need someone, and I mean anyone, in the top six to make something happen that’s not named Brad Marshand. Who would have thought that Brad Marshian was going to be our best player? Season started and and it’s slow I’m slowly liking Sam Bennett’s game more and more each game is coming by, but we need after tonight. What happened? You’re saying that even after tonight? Kind of. But like the one thing with Bennett and that kind of kills me is he sees the play one or two seconds too late and holds on the puck for like that extra like, you know, one second where that lane may already be gone. That is a problem. And also another problem is he’s getting muscled off plays. He was getting muscled off plays behind the net on New Jersey tonight there in the third period off of pucks and kind of gave pucks away there. And all of our guys were doing that. It wasn’t just Sam Bennett, but like when we were getting through the neutral zone, getting through the blue line, just those passes were not connecting. And again, when they are, it’s early on in the game and then that kind of goes away. And then you’re giving puck possession up. And our forch check pressure is the best to start games, not to finish nights. And when you’re not wearing down your opponent, it’s a very skilled team like New Jersey, Chris, that’s not a good sign when you’re not getting in on the fore getting turnovers and getting the worn down. Yeah, absolutely. It it’s you you could see in the third period, uh, New Jersey was just absolutely dominating. Uh, we couldn’t even get into the zone on our on our power plays. Bennett cannot be bringing the puck in on the on the power play. It’s got to be someone else. Uh, losing Barov there is a killer because that that’s a talent that not a whole not everybody has. You talked about this a little bit off air. This is from Cass here. Welcome Cass. I don’t know if you’ve been here before. How do you feel on this here, Chris? I feel the team’s mentality broke down after losing Barkov. We have no leader. What’s your takes there, Chris? As the the president of the Bararkov truthers, um, I I 100% agree with that. What I was telling Kirby was you you saw this even in previous years, not just what we’re doing now, is that when Barov is not out there, it seems like everybody just kind of panics and it’s like very chaotic. Every everyone’s just trying to speed up their game and that’s that’s not what we’re good at. Barov, when he’s out there, he’s a very much a calming presence. not with wi with his leadership for sure, but just like with his talent, uh he he’s never speeds his game up. He’s always calm out there under pressure. Nothing bothers him and that resonates throughout the entire team. And when he’s not there, you see a huge difference. Even in the first three games, you could see it. Even though we were winning it, we were still having those those issues that we we were just kind of panicking and therefore we’re coughing up pucks and and it just looks bad. But there’s no reason but there’s zero reason for that for there to be panic at all. Like that’s what’s kind of killing me right now. It’s like we’re panicking for no reason is the biggest thing. if if that’s what we’re doing. It’s just something that like I’m finding so hard the thing cuz right now it’s just we seem so disconnected. So disconnected and it’s mainly the forward front. I’m not even talking about the D. The D had their bad moments tonight, but in my opinion, 75 to 80% of the problems on the forwards. I don’t think the D’s been good since Dmitri Kulakov went down. Cody, they haven’t been good. They haven’t been good. But the what? I’m more worried about the forwards than I am the D. Yeah, because our defensive system is a fiveman group. It’s not just the D main group. And when your forwards aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do, you get hemmed in your own zone and the D gets tired, especially on a backto-back like this. Was it the heir goal there in the game? Oh, that was awful. What about Rod there? So, he switches from center then moves back to wing, right? He kind of throws the puck to Jones in the D partner there. That’s what I’m talking about. You can’t have those mistakes from your forwards. We’re just throwing pucks to areas and they’re used to doing that Chris when they have Alexander Barkov in the lineup. Like like a lot like that’s what I’m saying like we’re not much support there. The D is the forwards are not supporting the D enough. Yep. and and you’re kind of looking at guys for like you know the only two guys that have really consistent there’s only like what three guys have consistently done it like Lundell Reinhardt and Lucyan that kind of support the D Marian’s looking to create offense cuz he’s the only one we got and it’s just something and once we get in the zone we can’t hold on the puck to save our lives like we’re gripping our sticks I mean puck’s just going everywhere like it’s just like that one second we look up with the pass and it’s just off of the stick. Like it’s just little stuff like that. People were talking about like um like I see some of the comments saying we got to score on the power play. We got to get better five on five before we get to the power play. We can’t even get known on the power play. Yeah. Like where are we going to find these power play goals from? Are we expecting them from Jeff Petri, from Sam Bennett, from Carter Verhagi? And again guys, if you notice tonight our first power play, we got a power play early on in the first. What did Paul Murice do? He threw the second power play unit out there to start because it’s the better of the units and I don’t get it because the first power play is always so scripted. It It’s what it just feels like to me. It doesn’t like when you watch the second power play, it’s even happened in the cup run last year. The second power play was on fire to end that postseason run last year. That’s why we didn’t change anything cuz why would we change like trying to get the first unit better when the second one’s just dominating. Edmonton couldn’t stop them and it was because they didn’t know what to expect. It was free flowing. Everybody was moving. Puck on Puck was off the stick quick. It was all on no there were no wasted movements. And on top of that, Cody, they can win faceoffs because Lundell’s out there. The first unit cannot win a faceoff. And I I counted I was counting how much time that wastes. It wastes at least 20 seconds each time they lose a face off in the offensive zone on power play. And that’s almost half of your first unit’s power play. What are what are they going to do? They can’t they can’t do anything because they can’t win a faceoff. Let’s see. Let’s look here. Now, I was actually surprised at our total faceoff stats. We actually won the majority of the guys can share them on the screen there. You go ahead, Chris. Uh Cody as well. Share what the face off percentages. Yeah, Chris might have some stuff because I planned because All right. Well, here are the face off percentages for tonight. Bennett 55%, Lendell 70, uh Etsu 75, Conan was at 50. Like, it’s just like it’s just this little it’s like this little thing. It’s like to me it’s not really a big thing right now. It’s not like one huge thing where it’s like, oh, it’s like a massive issue. It’s these little issues that build up into a massive issue. It’s like the past is not being crisp and on the tape. It’s everyone and this and we’re doing this thing again and I can’t stand it where we are standing at the blue and then we’re trying to get guys with speed coming up the ice and we pass it back to him. I hate that play. Everybody does it. I I can’t stand it. And guess what? It does it ever work? No. Unless it’s McKinnon that’s flying up the ice. It’s like a wide receiver screen in football. Like it’s like that level to me where it works maybe what 25% of the time. Yeah. We’re not playing the percentages. No. like and it’s like and the thing is it’s just um and the penalties tonight were kind of like a little bit ridiculous. Mackey with the rough and call on with what Cody Glass was it I liked that I liked I liked Mackey standing up for himself there. He he this year he’s if you’re wanting to think of a positive. Uh he he’s not backing down, which I really I’m really enjoying from him. He looks bigger. He looks a little faster. Uh I I’ I’ve liked his game so far in total. Obviously, not not perfect. I think our team improvement our team speed has looked good coming into the season, but the last night or two here, it’s kind of gone back down to the mean of where we were last year. It’s just, you know, like, and it’s funny, it’s like it’s the lack of speed is like coming from the guys that we expect the speed from. Like to me like Verhagen and Bennett mainly looks slow. Bennett hasn’t used his speed once yet except when he ran over Couturier and then left his man to go. He was trying to wheel it up there in the third, but he couldn’t quite do it. And we’ve talked about these zone entries, especially off air, Chris. I know we’ve had some fun with it. Yeah. Yeah, he’s getting through the neutral zone and then trying to make that quick play to Reinhardt or to another player to break it into the zone. And then I don’t know what we’re really formulating off of that zone entry when we do get it in there. And when we do on the rare occasion, get it in there clean. And again, we’re not doing those little chip and chase plays either and getting in on the forch. We’re doing that early in games, but we’re not doing that throughout the games. It’s not sustaining. That’s the problem there. It’s like three consecutive games where the team’s quicker to pucks on than than we are. Yeah, if if we don’t do that, then we’re dead. I mean, we seriously are because that’s that’s our game. Like like the Devil said tonight, the Panthers are the highest percentage dump in rate team, but they also get the puck back and they play with the puck a lot. One of the most if not in the NHL. But how are we doing that right now? And that’s another thing with the Chuck. Yes. But he’s like a part of that solution. He’s not the the cog of it. But that’s the and that’s the crazy part cuz that’s the one part of our game that Barkov isn’t necessarily a big engine in cuz Barkov’s line usually goes in with possession. His line never really That’s true. But when they do when they do play that chip and chase game, Reinhardt’s getting in on it. Rod’s getting in on it if they have and we have those guys. That’s why it’s a little bit concerning right now because the chip and chase game should still be there. Like Kachchuck not being there, okay, that could hurt us a bit because he is good in that game. But that’s when Barkov is like kind of on the outside waiting for the puck for you and for you to get it to him. And we’re not winning those battles. I mean, New Jersey won a bunch of those battles. That’s probably the main reason why I feel like we did not possess the puck that much. We could not win those battles. And it’s it’s wild to think we’re getting more wraparound chances right now, guys, than we are off of Chip and Chase plays. Look at this. Look at this comment by Big C’s here. I don’t Cody, you want to touch this one? What history? For starters, he meets 2223. 23 24 that regular season was smooth sailing. Yeah, please clarify on that season. That’s 2223. Um, and I don’t think it’s that nowhere near that bad yet. Not even close. Yeah, I do want to say that I don’t the world isn’t falling apart. Uh we are six games into the season. I I Kirby sent me a thread of the uh the Panthers final score and everyone’s just like, “Oh, this is we’re going to we’re not even going to make the playoffs. We’re gonna we’re the last team in the division.” Like the the world’s not coming to an end, y’all. Chris, I want to jump in. Okay. I had the Panthers finishing first wild card after I learned about the Barkoff injury. Where did you have them? Me? Yeah. I would have had them around that in the in the wild card. You pick whichever one it is. Um that’s where I would have had them. Like that’s where I had them too. Like I wouldn’t be shocked if we finished third. Did you have them third though, Cody? I’m It’s either third or first wild card. I thought you had them above. Yeah. In in that range. It could have been third, but first wild card is definitely not out of the ordinary. And I had Ottawa in the second wild card for for clarification. Even though I like what they are, but now look at the injury that we’re going to get into that on after. But they were bad before that injury. Follows us turns on their notifications. Yeah, it could be worse. We could have given up eight to Buffalo. Like can’t blame Shane Pinto. He’s got six goals on the year. Like, hey, we can use Shane Pinto. I don’t know. PTO to me is just like another Lendell. What I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves in the chat here. I’m reading some of the comments. We need to make a trade yet. Like right now, Zto wants to see what we have internally. But since we have you tonight here, Chris, and we might not have you here for Let me ask Let me just say that. Let me just say this. I got a question. Like, no, just just answering the comments real quick. On the trade front, just real like it’s just like something for them to think about. On the trade front, you guys are noticing we’re disconnected already within the guys that we’ve been had. How the hell are we going to trade for someone and this going to be like that? Maybe one guy has been like that. Teraraenko took time. Marian took time. Jones took time. We all know this system takes about a like what two, three, maybe a month to get down kind of. What if we make a trade? It’s not going to be an immediate fix right now. We got to figure out what’s in house before we look outside of the house. It’s also we don’t have all the assets in the world to trade. I mean, we kind of do. Now, I wanted to ask you, Chris, I don’t want to get ahead because what Cody just said, Cody, well said. What is your thoughts on like JJ Pio or, you know, Boon Jenner? Chris, well, we won a Boon Jenner a few years ago, did we not? Oh, yeah. That was me. Now I I thought I it was either you or Nick I because I because of the Zitto um connection connection and the fact that his contract was very affordable. That’s why I thought of it. I think that was the year we got Terasenko, I’m pretty sure. But okay, shout out to our boy Ryan, our moderator Ryan, whose guys are Boon Jenner and Vladimir Terasenko. Those are his two favorites. And you know, Boon Jenner could play in this system. It’s just uh it’s just like the whole trade thing. It’s just like I don’t know. It’s just like it’s just so like extreme in my opinion. Good qu good good comment here just to jump in Cody from Tony B it’s gonna be messy again when the injured boys start integrating back as well don’t you think that’s on Matthew Kachchuck Tony to be ready and go right when he enters back in the lineup he’s got to be ready to go he’s got to take offline I I don’t think we can have guys a two three week oh let Kachchuck work his way back in don’t rush back but when you come back be ready to go yeah like we need we like we need some hard practices in like Marie said you need some good practices in before you kind of get back into that game shape because the when Kachchuck gets back in my opinion he’s stapled right next to Bennett cuz something needs to get Bennett going here and Tonyy’s saying we have seen this before but Chris I’ll push back when Bararkov comes back he’s ready to go he always is he always is right and I know Matthew Kachchuck might have more of a serious injury than what Bararkov has with week to week to month but when he’s back in there he’s ready by the second third period that he’s back in the lineup and I need that from Matthew Kachchuck this Don’t run back. Take an extra week or two if you need it. But when you come back’s game is his, you know, he’s not reliant. His game does not necessarily rely on feel where I I do feel like Kachchuck’s game is more of a feel that he’s got to get hit me get on my stick, right? Yeah, because because Barov with him being such an incredible 200 foot player, he can rely, you know, use more of the defensive side to kind of get himself back into whatever he needs. But Kachchuck is not that defensive player that that Barov is. His is solely on the offensive end. So, he’s got to rely more on on getting that field back um on his, you know, in in the play as opposed to what Bararkov has to do. And I think a big thing with Kachchuck is he’s got to get in on that cardio because he knows what this lineup is lacking and his cardio rate needs to be there right when he comes back. It’s not something he might focus his attention on, but when you don’t have Alexander Barkov out there, you have other injuries within the lineup. When you come back, you need to add an injection of energy that we haven’t seen from Matthew Kachchuck since 22 23 season and that playoff run. Like that’s what we need to see from Matthew Kachchuck where this division is at, right? Go ahead, Cody. I’m sorry. Oh, no. I wasn’t going to say anything. I’m just looking at Oh, I thought I heard you say something. I was just going to He also needs to do it for his own sake with the Olympics coming up. He’s got to get that feel back. Uh or else he’s going to be worthless in the Olympics. And you know, that is not what he wants. Uh he’s probably more motivated to play in the Olympics than he is for the Panthers. But there has to be some urgency there, Chris, for where the team might be at. 100%. Again, I don’t want to over state what has happened here over the last two days, but this could be a more of a trend moving forward as well, especially when we’re on the road and we have these backtobacks and things like that. And like the goalending we’re getting right now, I would say our goalending is it’s got to be a solid a and we’re still just kind of treading water because of the lack of goal scoring, losing Kulakov on the back end, which has not made our parents, Cody, look good over the last couple games. I mean, I we have a couple comments asking about this. What you guys? No. The no go Cole. It was I did not like it. It was terrible. It was in my opinion if the player is not in the blue paint, he has right to any ice he can get. It is it is if the goalie wants to be all up on that white ice with the player is entitled to, I think. And if the goalie creates the contact by being that close, it should not be goalender interference. If Landell was in the blue, different story. That’s the goalie’s entitled ice. Yep. But since Lendell was in his entitled eyes the entire time of that play and did not and really like it was barely any contact if if any at all. Yeah. And if you go back and look Cody and everyone in the chat, appreciate everyone being there. a good count here right now. Um when he’s going towards the goalie, it looks like he’s going to drift into him, but then he kind of pulls up right there and outside the blue, right, Chris? Yeah. Yeah. So, he the contact happens as he’s kind of moving to the side like like you said, he looks like he’s backing up into him, but he then just kind of really moves to the left as opposed to moving back. His skates never got into the blue. I don’t know how that’s a that’s a disallowed goal. The the New Jersey broadcast that I had tonight told you guys off air, they didn’t even think it was. They thought it was a skinny call at best, right? Like now, do I think we would have tied the game after that? No. No. But at least give us the damn chance. But yeah, give us the chance instead of like it. Yeah, that was funny. But ref said it. He said it was a goal. He probably got overruled and he thought it was a goal. I really hate the fact that they called that no goal in the I hated that because it really wasn’t like there wasn’t much contact at all because Allen sold it. Like let’s be real. Allen sold it and there really was not much if any interference in my opinion. Like I hated the call. But anyway, but look, we can rest on our heads thinking, “Yeah, we didn’t deserve to win that game anyway. But like I said, thankfully we had the three wins to start the year. We’re at 500. I mean, we’re at the beginning of the year. My here here’s my barometer. If we can get to 10 wins before we get can can we get to five regulation losses, we’re going to be fine. That’s my barometer for at least to start a season. If you can get to like 10 five and like two to start the year, you’re you’re in a good spot. Or 1041 something something stupid. I don’t care. Like just get to it. And right now it’s just I’m praying um you like the forwards just need to play a little bit more north and south instead of east and west because we can’t even get into the slot right now. Now, I tweeted out that east and west is New Jersey’s game. That ain’t our game. We need to be driving north and south. Like, we didn’t win cups going east or west. We got swept in the second round going east to west. That’s how New Jerseyy’s trying to win cups, but they haven’t accomplished that feat with this new era of Devils hockey. Look, I’m not going to I can’t imagine the old school Devils being east and west. the to Ken Danako is calling these New Jersey Devil games and I’m like how much more of a contrast of styles can you have like but give credit to New Jersey skilled guys tonight man they were buzzing oh no they got skill but once that skill kind of runs out it’s like what else well they’re all going together Cody or none of them are going usually like it’s like they’re all pulling on the rope or they’re all like ah we’ll take this one off. Yeah it’s just you know but we’ll see if they’re growing. It’s it’s just kind of interesting. But going forward here, because now we’ve analyzed this game, we’ve we’ve said everything that we kind of need to say. Now, let’s talk about what the Panthers should do going forward. Just a reminder on all that. But boys, yeah, and we got a lot of entries coming in, but you guys have really good odds and chances here. If you do enter now, we’re going to close the contest in about 48 hours or less from now. Cody, go ahead. Yeah. Let’s just let’s do it like this. The minute the Buffalo Sabres game is over, that is when the contest is closed. I will time I will time stamp for that for you, Kirby. Just so you know, just just in case we do get any late entries or whatever people Yeah, Cody, I’m willing to have some late entries. Uh will be over on the X side’s postgame show because we have an early start time. So, I’ll let people kind of do it, but we’re going to announce it on after dark. So, how about this? The deadline for the contest is this Saturday, 6:00 p. p.m. Eastern time, 5:00 p. p.m. Central, 4, was it 400 p. p.m. Mountain? Yeah. Uh, 3 p.m. Pacific. Let’s go. Know my time. 3 p.m. in Arizona since they don’t do daylight savings time. Yeah. Is it changing this week? It’s right around that time. That’s why I’m asking. Or is it November where it change? I don’t ever I should know that cuz I lose an hour of darkness big time. Oh, no. especially up here north. Who cares? Uh but looking forward to Buffalo. Now we’re going against a team where, let’s be real, they were a train wreck. Complete utter train wreck to start the year. And one thing, and this is going to be a hot take here. Whatever lines finish this game, I want those lines to start next game. I want some consistency in the lines. Is it a Is Buffalo a must win? Just get a point. I’m I’m all right. Really, just play better. Let’s just be real. Yeah. At the very least, we got to play better. Even if we don’t get the result because you can at least look at if we’re playing better, you can at least look at that and go, “All right, we didn’t get the win, but at least we just were on the right track.” as opposed to what it’s been the past couple of days. Like like just to throw back to last the end of last season, we were playing good to end that. See, we were getting results. But me and Nick were both on it saying, “Hey, we are playing better. We were in the system. We’re doing everything we needed to do, but we just weren’t getting the result. It just wasn’t happening for whatever reason that may be. But this losing streak isn’t because of that. And I’m not going to lie, I like losing streaks like that because you know what you need to fix and you go back to the drawing board and you play you play more simple. But for me, I want consistency in the lines because we can’t keep juggling the lines and expect fireworks. We need something here. If you want to change something in practice, go ahead, change it. But just stick to it for at least a period or two. Like that’s that’s kind of where I’m at. I don’t know about you guys. You got to give the guys the opportunity to develop the chemistry. Some lines you do have instant connection. Um but even when you look at the Marian Lundell line last year, it took them about 10 games before they really started to click. And once they did click, they were unstoppable. But it’s very rare for a line to get instant chemistry. Um, you got to give them time. I’m just looking at the minutes here. Blinkus was under 10 minutes tonight. Cody, what does that look like? But then again, how many penalties did we take? Well, that’s another thing. We took way too many stupid penalties. But is that also an indicator of them losing trust in him a little bit within this small stretch here? We’ve seen that before with Paul Maurice guys with Josh Maher, Adam Boowquist, you know, I think it’s definitely a possibility. He trusts the veteran. I’m not ruling it out by any means. I don’t really classify Blinkis as a veteran. No, no, not he’s a hockey veteran, not an NHL veteran. Not an NHL. But the thing is like I’m would be shocked if the first game we have a chance with him if we don’t see Sabbran go in. Yeah. Like that’s just how I feel about I think he’s going to be in the first chance we can get. But uh let’s just And here’s like a comment from Paul Maurice tonight and I quote, “We were pretty structurally sound for a handful of games and we’ve gotten away from it. You see it sometimes on backtobacks. I didn’t think we were very good tonight. We’ll do that as a whole group together, coaches and players. End quote. And then on Samuskevich, and I quote, I like Sam’s game. Samuskevich’s game tonight. I thought he had some jump. Rodriguez plays a real smart game of hockey. We wouldn’t be bragging about much. We wouldn’t be bragging about much after that. End quote. So, but here’s the thing. I trust Paul Maurice. Um, I trust the team to kind of figure out even without Barov. I know we we don’t have Arkach, but a lot of these guys have played extremely big roles in us winning back-to-back cups. So, I do believe they deserve the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this. And at the end of the day, we are losing with legitimate reasons. It’s not That’s why I don’t like the 2223 comparison because we had no good reason other than we sucked. There was no good reason. But now we could say, “Oh, we’re missing two of our top three players or two of our top four players.” Whatever your hierarchy is, I don’t care. But those two guys are in the top four if you ask me. Um, yeah, it’s just that’s why I’m kind of living with this just a bit more because I know what’s not out there. You see, I I do think this is where Yeah. The Barov is even a little bit underrated still because, you know, yes, we have depth. We do have talent, but if you were to take Nathan McKinnon off of the Avalanche, what would the Avalanche look like? Um, they still have Maras wouldn’t be near as good though. Oh, yeah. Colton have to step up which he’s missed a lot of time with you know they would look like a completely different team. It’s like you know Vegas without um you know Toronto definitely now without Matthews like also sucks not having one of my other favorite players in Kulakov. Hey on our postgame show a lot of people harp on Kulakov right Cody? So nice to see someone having one of their favorite players in [ __ ] there. Listen, I love Cool Call. Club legend in my opinion. Like, and I love what he’s done for us. That’s my guy. Love [ __ ] Even though back in the day, love would love for him to hit the net just a bit more. But again, he was more of an offensive minded defenseman back then. First round pick, but now more of a veteran. He’s been everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Minnesota, Winnipeg, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, Buffalo, like and survived. I don’t know about all that. I mean, they were bad then, too. Like, wow, what a start to the year. And then pot what? Eight goals on Ottawa there the other night. Listen, you know what’s funny? At least we’re not the Rangers. We’ve scored a goal at home. It’s true. Yeah, how the Islanders started their season. Tampa’s not had a great start either. Vasilia does not look that good. Um, well, Vassy, I don’t think they’re supporting him with enough goal support either. They’re decor. Toronto is not looking that great. Like, it’s just, you know, right now, Panthers got to just figure out their own way. Yeah. Fortunately, we do have a plenty of teams that don’t aren’t having good starts either. Like, like the only team I feel like that’s really good in the Atlantic right now is Montreal. like just to start this year, it’s them and then like it’s a gap between. Then again, they could slow down it a bit. Montbo has been okay to start the year. Not kind of what he was last year, but and they’ve squeaked out some wins with scoring in with in the last minute to get it to go to overtime. Here’s here’s one quote. [ __ ] is always a for help me take off my shirt at club 11. So cool. So Kulie was a part of the people that waterboarded you, Caesar. Caesar looks at as admiration, not that’s assault, brother. Look, man, I thought Caesar was going to drown in some of those videos I saw. I thought he was, too. He was having a great time. They were pouring it on him. He called me that night facetiming. I couldn’t hear what was going on. I’m at almost dead. We’re on different wavelengths here right now. Sees Sees is just going crazy. Like it’s just, you know, I don’t know right now. Uh like I said, I’m not I’m worried to a point, but my worry meter, if there was a worry meter, I’m at like a three, four. I’m not like six or seven or eight yet. I’m at like a four too early for that. And if you knew coming into the season, which we talked about here, doing content, talking to people. Obviously, they’re not trying to make any moves right now and it’s not really feasible. They got to see what they have. So, it’s like I’m still on that uh pathway and it was like, okay, we get off to a good start and everyone’s like, well, this is going to be easy. Or they’re looking at the record, maybe they’re not watching all the play. But it wasn’t like that, you Listen, listen. We We got to temper our expectations because we don’t have as much talent right now. You know, Kachchuck does change things in December. So, that that’s that would that’s that would set all the wingers correctly. I think Cody, some of the fan base, they kind of look at you with a puzzling face on that because they’re like, “What do you mean not much talent? Look what we had in the playoffs.” But when you’re not slotted appropriately, Chris, it doesn’t look that good. It doesn’t look that good. I don’t care how good Greer is on the fourth line. I don’t care how good of an addition Luke Cunnan is. They can only do so much. And when you’re line juggling, trying to find chemistry, you’re not h going to have that on the lines. And some people like, well, should we keep the lines together? Some of the same people would say within the game, change the lines because we’re not scoring. Damned if you don’t. When we’re talking about slotted correctly, let’s just use this analogy. In the playoffs, Sam Bennett was going against guys like, let’s just go down the list, Tampa, he was going against guys like Nick Paul and Anthony Cerelli. Second round, it was like what? John Tiveres and Max Doy. Oh, yeah. Doy. Then it was Ross Slavic and I don’t even know who remember who the third line center for Carolina was. Jordan Stall is their third line. There it is. There it is. And now he’s going against, look at the last couple games, Jack Hughes, Shawn Couturier, like Dylan Lurin. Those are all steps above now. Yep. Like that’s what we mean by slotted correctly. Kachchuck coming back slots the wingers correctly. Unfortunately, the centers are not going to be slotted correctly at all this year. So, it’s so but basically, but look at the positives here. We have a damn good goalie tandem. Yes, we do. And this and Ryan’s gonna hate this quote because I already know he doesn’t like this, but Terasov to me is giving me flashbacks of Chris Driger when in terms of backup. Like as a backup ever, like I always thought Driger was the best backup I’ve seen in a Panther jersey. It’s either Hammer Knight and then Al Mononttoya is up there. Oh, I’ve seen a lot of good ones all throw in Craig Anderson. I’ve seen You saw You saw him. I I was too young. No. So, I can’t really speak on that. I’ll let you speak on that and I’ll take your word for it because you watched that. But for me, like Driger was a damn good backup. Damn good first time around. Well, I mean, was it really technically a second time, Chris? Technically, yes. He was on the bench. Technically, yes. Technically, yes. But he he was ACL like what, two times and that kind of killed everything. He’s playing in the miners and on the bench. Yeah. But Driger the first two like the two seasons he was here phenomenal and then um you know I thought Mononttoya was good for us that one year just feels like we’re struggling to find offense without Bark Barkov we’ve been we’ve been saying it like just be listening into the cats and rats people are kind of shocked by it I hope people people should apologize for taking bar call for granted like that’s like one of the things about this injury that are kind of like I don’t want to say the good parts about it because there were really none. Yes. But people are now understanding what we mean by because they’re not like it’s because Kachchuck’s out of the lineup. It’s like what are we doing and what are we looking like without Barkov and not just for like a s an illness or you know a week to week when we can because we’ve been good enough Chris over the past few years. I think our weight percentage has gone up without Barkov but they know mentally and the team knows it’s not a week toe thing. He’s coming back like in a few like we can push ahead like he’s not he’s not there for like the team dinners on the road or whatever because guess what? He’s got to be back in Sunrise or in Bokeh rehabbing because I guarantee you the rehab has started at this point. We’re a good month like out from his surgery. So he’s he sees me are the apologists like I don’t know man. Apolog No, Chris. We’re the apologists when people come on the post game and [ __ ] on them when he’s playing. We’re the ones that defend him. No, the defenders, right? I I like um this comment here. I just want to find it here. Um where is it? It was a comment. I can’t find it. It’s from Nano there. Well, what likes a big body and net? I do too. As long as it’s a guy that has fundamentals and he’s not swimming in the net. Uh those are some of the problems I had with Anthony Sters. those fundamentals weren’t quite there and you didn’t know from what I think this would have been a tough game for Anthony Sters as a Florida Panther goalie tonight. This would have been a tough because his side to side isn’t no and the way that the Devils were moving that puck. The Devils were and I know we’ve already talked about it here tonight, but the Devils were zipping that puck around like credit to power play. Five on five sometimes tonight. It looked like they were on a power play. Yeah. Like there’s just you know with Stolars it’s just I don’t know. I probably don’t include him in the Driger Mononttoya group because I did the spaces each time he got blown up. You’re closer to it. Like I remember both Highlander games. I remember the um which was he was he was good in the national and Toronto games on Yeah. And then he got blown. Oh, Chicago. Oh yeah, Chicago. That was the night Chris that no one showed up to the post game including most of my co-host. Hey, I remember. Hey, I was out of town that weekend. You have a you have a reason. You have a valid reason. Yes. Like I was out of town. Me and Vincent like barely any listeners and callers. I’m like, are we doing this for every Chicago game? Hey, listen. Look, we look, we look, there are some there are some games I pencil in as losses. Let’s be real here at Vegas, especially without Barkov. Oh, loss. Um, don’t say that. We might be on a live stream that night here at LA. We could do that one. You want to start doing like the like the House of Horrors live streams? Do some that are interesting. Oh, by the way, we are tentatively I was scared guys. We are tentatively planning a live stream night. I know Cody, I think you’re gonna be away with us. I’ll be at work for the return of Brad Marshon to Boston. I was like, “Oh, this might not be happen.” But but for that 10 but those for those 10:30 games, I think we should do those live streams just because the like we’re not going to do. I know. Keep people up, right? Or do one or two of them, you know? Yeah. Like maybe the LA Vegas or at least one of them like House of Horrors ones I would love to do like we might do a Tampa first. I can speak for me and Kirby. Can we watch can you guys score a goal in front of us this year? Love to see one. Maybe when we go to LA they’ll just let us have Copitar. I’d be like, “Hey, not even to know Kopitar. You know you we feel bad for you because you lost Bararkov. Here is you know an older version of him. Here you can you can have Kopitar. Yeah. Like because we’re because you’re not he’s not going to win a cup here. Yeah. Yeah. This is last season. We want him to try to get a cup again. Yeah. We’re sick and tired of him like losing to Edmonton. Yeah. We We need to go if we’re looking at Kopitar, we need to go get him before they fire that Hillary Diller guy because they might they might replace him with Pete D’Vor and Pete Dbor is going to take him on a run. Automatic Western Conference final is what that is. Yeah. I was like, damn. Swept. Oh, no. I’ll never like that series. I thought LA had them. I really did. They did have them. Cody didn’t listen to my script, Chris. I said the first two games will go to the Kings and the next four will go to the They had the third one. They had them. Screwed it up. I like I say to Cody, the Rangers had the Devils, too, until Douggee Hamilton scored that game three overtime game. Hey, we’re giving credit to Douggee. Douggee Douggee had to foil my plans. Doug Douggie is Kirby’s favorite deep pairing. Oh, that first That’s his fantasy deep hair. Douggee follows Bennett all the way around the net. I’m like, Douggee, you’re a defenseman trailing back. You’re supposed to stop in front of the net. We’re just banging away. No, that series like watching Embitus play off the first two series was so ridiculous because I’m watching LA give it away and I’m like what the hell and one guy I thought was amazing for LA was Kempe. He was on one. He was over a point per game. That guy would have been up for the con sniper. He may have been at a goal per game. That’s how good he was. I think he was at 1.25 or 1.40 points per game. Yeah. And then I’m watching Vegas and the Vegas series and Aiden Hill. Like what the hell? That that was rough. And it wasn’t like like stuff like you know like sixhole below the glove below the blocker that are beating him. It’s along the ice that’s beating him. I don’t want to get weren’t you playing like that in 23. Huh. Right. Exactly. I don’t want I don’t want to I don’t want to get into all the off hockey stuff, but they signed him to that contract and now they don’t believe in him. I don’t know. I don’t know. They had to put out that statement earlier. I I don’t want to touch that. Isn’t that an indictment on Aiden Hill and that contract? They just What is he making? Six million, Cody. Six mill. Yep. Wild. And for anyone who’s asking about about the Carter heart signing, I’ll answer my I’ll put my answer in two words. No comment. Um it’s just best way I can answer that and win with either side. No. Like it’s just a lose-lose. It’s a PR nightmare is what it is. Oh my goodness. Absolute PR nightmare. Like Yeah. I can’t at the very least, right? At the very least. Like I hate to be the Vegas PR person. That’s all I got to say. And but now looking ahead, Buffalo Boston Pittsburgh. At least we have two days in between the buff the Buffalo Boston game. So they can get a bit of rest. You know, Marian can, you know, go to his uh favorite Boston restaurants before pregame, you know, take the boys on the town, show them a good time. His boss is known for their great Italian uh food over there. It ain’t Stop by Dairy Queen real quick. maybe get some of the, you know, the vibes. No, no, it’s Boston. There’s It’s BaskinRobins over there. Oh, that’s right. Oh, we got Jim in the house from Full Press. We’re about to rap here, Jim. Yeah, but I don’t know. And people hate the Look, Fernando, there’s one thing consistent with any sport, any person, any time. They hate the winners. People hate winners. If they hate you, they’re you’re a winner. It means you’re doing something right. Typically, people love to lose. This is Look, people love the Lions, hate the hate the Chiefs. People love the Sabres, hate the Panthers. People hate the Warriors. They love like the Timberwolves or something or the Pacers. They always want to see something new and they’re tired of what the, you know, the old is on to the new. Oh, that reminds me. At least the Dodgers are going. No, never mind. They’re about to Yeah, I did hear that. Everyone hates the Dodgers. I’m trying to watch the Mariners and Jays in the background here. I didn’t watch too much of it earlier, so I’m gonna get off here. I’m try Yeah, you guys are getting the blow the doors blown off of you again. No, they just knocked in a run or two. Yeah, I’m about to say the Mariners are winning. I thought it’s 52 Blue Jays. 52. They got another runner in scoring position. So, but anything else, gentlemen, before we wrap? I appreciate you coming by here, Chris. We’ll probably do some more of these. We got a good turnout here tonight on a loss, you know. Uh you guys got you got to be wearing that white coat I said Chris as a therapist, you know, or whatever. Direct bill our hours everyone. Deep breath everyone. Yeah, it’s going to be like this all year because we don’t have the talent. Let’s just be honest to keep a spade a spade a buck a buck. What are you as a fan getting worked up when this is what it’s going to be for the foreseeable future? And I’m just going to say this now, and I’m going to say this for my for me and Kirby’s mental well-being the entire year. They aren’t making a trade until January, February. No team is going to be like, “Oh, here’s a good center for a third round pick right now.” Everyone’s trying to win. Everyone’s trying to win. Yeah. I’ll add my deadline a little shorter than Cody’s, but I’m on what you’re saying. I’m on what you’re saying. Look, like I’m like if your deadline’s shorter, that’s fine. But I have my reason for why my deadline’s my deadline. Yeah, I know me and Nick are a little bit the the 999 from Big C’s. I have a surprise next Saturday. Keep eye out on social media. The game day. What the hell surprise? I want to add I know what it is, but I’m not allowed to say anything. So C’s wants to meet with everyone at the Vegas game. That’s the date, right, Cody? the Vegas at home. So jealous of all these people that actually I can’t even get to experience it. Oh, that’s just No, but anyone that can experience and that’s listening back to us on the replay. Appreciate all the shares. Get a hold of C’s. I believe it’s that Vegas game. It’s on the weekend. Get there early. See says um you’ll get everyone together. Ces, you should set up some type. So that means I get to know what the surprise before everyone else does because I can’t be there. I can’t be there either unless someone wants to pay for I don’t know if he’s let me out of the bag so to speak on this but you’ll have to ask them if they don’t wants to offer to buy me a flight I’ll be more than happy to go there I would just he’ll be there in a suit and running I’ll be I’ll be there whatever y’all want me to wear I will be there said last se said last broadcast that Nick’s his assistant and get a hold of him so you’re taking that job too he’s added to the staff but sees will be with us on Saturday night after dark. So, make sure everyone you guys tune in here on our YouTube channel. We’ll be back on Saturday. We’ll be live after the Buffalo game on the Twitter X platform and then we’ll have a little break there because it’s an early start time. We’re going to announce the winner here of the ticket giveaway here on After Dark on the YouTube channel side. So, make sure you guys register before Saturday evening. Okay? So, get on that. We’re getting a lot of people uh signing up or sorry uh registering for the contest here today. Um yeah, other than that guys, uh not a whole heck of a lot else. We’re going to have more contests running throughout the season. U signed pucks, um, autographs, things like that. So, and I appreciate Chris, you did this for me last year. I’m going to give you a shout on there. You got an extra Alexander Barkov signed puck, and I appreciate you sending that to me. So, you’re very welcome. I got a Reinhardt one this year. You got Rhino Rhino one this year. They sent you They sent you a D. They sent you two, right? And then, yeah, they sent me two Barov ones on accident, so I sent one up. Just hold on. I mailed you one of them. I appreciate that, man. Appreciate the Barkoff truthers. If you guys want to be part of the group chat over on X, let us know. We’re in there. Chris and I always supporting. There we go. Captain, there we go. Yep. Got a rep since he’s not able to be a part. But listen, I’m But you know what’s funny about Kirby? I officially ordered three more jerseys. Oh, so we’re going to bring that out on After Dark. Most likely. Yeah. Can it not be a Maple Leafs or Bruins one? It’s It’s not an None of them are Atlantic division or that ugly ass Ducks jersey. Oh, I love that Orange jersey. I could bring that one. That’s a new one, Chris. The the web foot. The web D. Oh, Cody’s like, “Well, at least I won this.” I’m like, “Did you?” But I I also had the Cacina. Yeah. Did you win that one? Yeah, I won that one. I had the Cacina as well. That’s a good win. And then I have the Knander Leafs. Yeah, it’s Leafs. But the Boston’s a Marshand. That was good. That was a good twist. He get he wins a Boston Marshan jersey and then he gets traded to Florida. Was that the same month that you got that jersey? Yeah, that’s wild. I got it like the week after he got traded. I go, “No freaking way.” And it’s the real one. It has the fight strap and everything. Yeah. Speaking of jerseys, do you have any idea when they’re going to reveal the Winter Classic jersey? I have no idea. I thought they would have We will let you know if we hear any inside stuff. I’m I thought they would have revealed it by now because of jersey sales. Yeah, because I’m I’m actually gonna get one. I haven’t decided who I’m gonna get yet. But if I get one, it’s gonna be Act Blad. So, you’re saying Chris, you’re getting the jersey no matter what without even seeing. I don’t even care. I’m buying it. You know what, Kirby? I just realized I just realized a good poll for this next week. Yeah. What jersey should Chris get? No, no, no, no. Put it in the chat. Where’s our moderator? Like, like, hey, we’ll put we have no spaces poll this week. We can put a spaces poll on. Yeah. So, I basically uh which which Bleeping Panther would you rather? The old one or the new one? Cuz some people like the new one. So, cuz I do believe the Leaping Panther is going to be on the front of the jersey. Then they like the new one on the helmet more than the old one. Some people do. I’ve heard it. I I haven’t seen a lot of that. You guys can tell us down there in the comment section tomorrow. You guys listen. Well, I guess one question. That’s the one they’re probably going to use, Cody, because that’s the one that this ownership group is tied to. They’re not. Then I guess like another one is would you rather the jersey be like the navy blue of what Kirby’s got or would you like them to incorporate the or would you like it to be like a main red jersey? Let’s see. I love the navy blue one. I’ve always loved the one the one that Kirby has. It’s like my favorite jersey that they’ve ever had. I grew to love it over time. Um Chris, but I never grew to love the blue jersey. It never really hit for me. But this one I did over time because I love the red and then the white and then when they added this with Pavle Bur I’m like yeah it’s all right. And then Y this my still I still think the best jersey we’ve ever had in franchise history was the red alternate with Beret with the stick broken. Yes. I think that’s my favorite or the reverse retro. This one this reverse retro was freaking amazing. But I like I like the early 2000 jerseys so much. But yes, they were solid. Like especially the roads. The roads I loved. Like the one Kirby has in his like freaking uh banner. Oh, Kirby, I did. By the way, I did change my banner. Oh, on our vet. On our vet. See? So So Cody has Mason Marchman up in his uh Not only Mason Marchman? What? Cody’s favorite. What do you mean? That’s the bet. He’s the main one in the photo, but I have a picture of the Lendell Marchment Rhino. Oh boy, I don’t know if I can accept this. I need to get off air right now and go look at this. By the way, tonight Money M and Marchman connecting on a goal. Marchment is in the middle of the photo. His face is dead on it. Okay. Okay. If it’s if he’s the central figure, then I might Hold up. I’ll pull it I’ll pull it up now. You let me know. Let him know because he’s only supposed to have Marchman in his banner, everyone. Uh, Cody lost the Dolphins, Bett. He’s already waiting. I haven’t lost it yet, but we’ll see. But you’re putting it up. This is what I have. Is that Is that all right? I’ll take this off the screen. Chris, is that all right? I think that’s good, Chris. March. Oh, he has to put Marchman in his banner. Is that all right for the Oh. Oh, yeah. That’s a terrific face to put. I mean, that facial expression. He’s in the middle of the photo. Yeah, absolutely. That’s good enough. That’s good enough. And he scored the goal. If you leave it up now until the end of the Super Bowl or until the beginning of the NHL playoffs, then then that’s acceptable. Yes. I’ll leave it to the end of the Super Bowl because I put it up earlier. Um Okay. Okay. But the thing is, you know what’s funny? You want to know what kind of goal he scored here? There was an empty net and he’s like that. There we go. I love it. I love it. He probably took a penalty after it, too. No, then you just he fell down like Bambi and he fell off. You know what’s funny? There’s a quote tweet or whatever. Like Kirby was like like, “Oh, I don’t know.” Last year, Cody, when he did that [ __ ] last year in the playoffs, like March would have like buried that or whatever and like I said, “Oh, March would have tripped at the blue line.” And Chris quote tweeted that one. Did you Chris? Yeah. He’s like Marshall working for me, not against me. But anyway, uh ladies and gentlemen, we thank you for joining us this week. Uh look, even Dieard says it looks good to me. Like it’s just uh Oh, we got the go nose in the chat, baby. Let’s go. Boy, we got to take we got to take this off. You know, we’re gonna get our very own We’re gonna get our very own Nick Lavine coming in here and telling us South Florida has a shot at the what do you call if they went out? They do. But FB, whatever it is, goals. Hey, win, lose, or draw. I stay with my team. Cody, they’re cutting you. You’re losing your But Chris, thank you for joining us. Um, we’ll have you back here in your future. I don’t know if you should have me back is the last time you had me on was the game three uh or game four that we blew the three nothing lead. So, I may be the curse of the of the Cats and Ras community. Oh, wow. All right. But I’ll be on anytime you you need Oh, there we go. Oh, there we go. I appreciate it. Um, I always have fun. Yeah. Is Cody frozen here? He looks frozen. He is frozen. We’ll end it here everyone. Thank you everyone for joining. There he is. There he is. Like, subscribe, all of that. I think I can end us here. Missed the C's N R's post-game show. 😒 Just checked the box score. SOG 2nite: Rhino 0, Bennett 1, Anton 1, Swaggy 1. WTH is going on? Shooooot the puck boys. Let's beat the Sabres.
Panthers still stayed strong throughout the night even down your best players. Taresov was a beast and almost stole the game. Of the 33 SOG for the Devils, Jack Hughes had 8 and Timo Meier had 6. Took that many shots for just a couple goals. Good game, champs.
❤
The New Jersey radio guys thought it was obvious goalie interference. They made it sound like a no-brainer. Seeing the replay, it was a 50/50 in my opinion. I think if they ruled it a goal, they wouldn't have overturned it.
Assuming most of us have worked through the stages of grief for Barkov and are accepting what this year now is since the style/system they play does not workout to a high degree without him, how should they proceed? One unique thing about this team is that they do have everyone locked up for 4-5 years – they could view this and next year as two halves with summer break being when they get healthy (not rush back Barkov, see if Tarasov keeps this up and is goalie of future, let guys focus on silly Olympics which seem more important to some anyway, let the few young guys mature, add with cap space during summer instead of blowing assets prior to this trade deadline unless its a perfect fit like Marchand, avoid over using our veterans) maybe we get into playoffs and do well still, and then seek a revenge tour after this summer. Yes insane I know and I will accept the insults no worries, but if they keep pushing this style of play every night without the horses we are going to lose more guys, and I don't see them changing it for this year.
I'm a Devils fan in South Florida, so I've been following you guys for years. This was a rare game where I felt like the Devils out-forechecked the Panthers, and without your big guys out, that's not shocking, but especially with the schedule. The Devils had two days off, while you were on a back to back. I wouldn't be worried, stay afloat until Tkachuk gets back, let your guys who have played 3 straight long postseasons get into the season and you guys are still right there with Carolina as the team to beat in the East. Much respect.
