Brewers’ Pat Murphy on Dodgers Taking 3-0 Lead

Oh, we got some I just passed about 30 reporters in there. So, who who are you all? What do we got here? All right, we can get started with Murf. Start with Adam. Murf, um, what is it the early word on Turio and yeah, you know, given his absence and where the series is, just where do you feel you stand right now? Uh, Turio’s had a continual cramps in his hamstring. Um, he feels like he’s going to be okay. Um, so I’m hopeful. Hopefully he’s got an IV going right now. And um yeah, we’ll we’ll hope he’s okay. Next one for Murf. Go to Russell on the left. Murf, obviously Jacob was rolling there going into the sixth inning. What did you like about that matchup with him against Edmond as opposed to going to Abner? Yeah, I mean I mean he gave up a a single up the middle. It wasn’t like he got crushed. He threw the ball unbelievable. He gave us the best chance to win there. Abner has not been throwing the ball like he normally has. And um I had to make a decision who was better matchup. Miz is was I mean he was the best player on the field for us today. And he was fantastic. I knew he was getting to the end because that’s his pitch count kind of thing is but in a game like this, you know, I want to give him a chance to get out of that. Edmond’s much better uh you know on the ball down like that. So I thought, you know, Urebe is going to throw that sinker and he uh Abner hasn’t been as sharp. Um so went with it. Kurt on the left side. Murf, all you’ve talked about the obstacles and the hurdles you guys have overcome. Just how do you size up or summarize the the three 0 deficit in the hole you’re in now against that team? Yeah, I mean that team’s pretty good. Um so are we. We haven’t showed our be we haven’t shown our best foot. Um, like I said, if you would have told me the Dodgers were going to score 10 runs in three games, what would be the the score? If you said two to one us or one to two, one and two them, you know, you wouldn’t say 0 and three. But we uh we haven’t got the clutch hit. We haven’t we’ve been a little bit um, you know, foreign to how we’ve played in terms of contact. Now, there wasn’t a hard-h hit ball hit between two outs in the second and the sixth um because it was very difficult to see for hitters. So, take nothing away from the glass now who pitched great. Take nothing away from Miz who pitched great, but it was a really tough visual for both team. You nobody can think of a hard hit ball hit during that time. So, that’s very unusual in a game. um very very tough background at three o’clock which everybody can tell you the Dodger players will tell you whatever. I mean we’re not making excuses but neither team hit the ball so you can kind of erase that and it came down to a few plays. Uh Muny made a great play at third uh to keep that ball from going through uh made a great throw on top of it. Um you know Abner throwing the ball away at first uh caused gave us another run. Um that’s a that’s a run turnaround. Um and we had uh man on second, nobody out at the end and our hottest hitter up and he couldn’t get him over. So those types of things happen. Your offense isn’t going to click. We did some good things but didn’t get the big hit and uh again had a bunch of a bunch of strikeouts when it was very difficult to see. Barry and then Adam. Merv, uh, would you talk a little about how you kept Otani off balance all series? I mean, interesting that last at bat, two out, nobody on, and you brought in a lefthander and struck him out. Yeah, I mean, uh, show is one of the best hitters in the game. So, whatever streak he’s going through, the ball he hit in the first inning was a good pitch. He just tapped it right in the right spot, you know, and it’s a triple and it ends up being a run. And you you you take that. That’s not show hits the ball a 100 plus most times when he barrels it. That was a little off either off the end or whatever. Flicked it over first base for a triple. Um he’s not swinging the bat like he can, but he’s so dangerous and he’s just going through a little period here where um right when you think he’s not swinging it, you know, he’ll get on it. Um we’re we’re not doing anything so awfully special except we’re pitching them very very carefully and anytime we can bring in a lefty we do because that’s foreign to all those guys. They don’t see lefties as much as righties. And um Shi’s in a little spell here where he’s not barreling balls like he like he has, but he’s still for us tremendously dangerous dangerous hitter. You can’t forget that. These great ones, they can turn it on like that. But when you pitch them really tough, you know, or you you make pitches to the spot they don’t hit it, then that’s baseball, you know, and tip your hat to the That’s good pitching, you know. We’ll finish up with Adam. If I can cheat and ask a two-parter, was it a decision to stay with Miserowski for that sixth? Was that the decision all the way? And then in that inning, did you think S might have a play at the plate when he first got a little too deep? Little too deep. Um the S ball wasn’t hit very hard. You know what I mean? Like I don’t know what the miles per hour was, but it certainly wasn’t hit very hard. More off the end and certainly no play at the plate from that far away. And and and um that’s one. What was what was the second part to it about whether it was Miz all the way from the start of the six? No, no, no. I mean, you know the situation with our pen and Miz is cruising. So, let me ask you something. We take out Miz right there. What questions am I getting right now when we bring somebody in and they give up two runs? Yeah. So, um yeah. you know, that’s uh that was he was throwing the ball great and I’m really happy for him and uh you know he’s lined up now if uh we can you know do something extraordinary. He’s lined up to pitch the last game.

  1. This guy has no sense of urgency and acts like a clueless farmer from Idaho. Anybody buying this guy as a leader? "Oh gee golly" LA can't name 8 Brewers" Were really good, they'll see…. Where is the fight? My God….. Neither team hit well? Ya sure? Dodgers seemed to find away to win. Sorry Brewers….there's always next year

  2. brewers not making the dodgers pitchers work much at all the whole series, very disappointing series really shows the brewers front office💩 the bed at the trade deadline, Brewers the worst lineup in the postseason and is definitely showing

  3. Is it me or does it seems like he does not care from past interviews and this one? He jokes around, he always talk good about the dodgers like he is part of the dodgers team…lol game 2 he was hanging around with the dodgers players, joking around and laughing with them before the game. Also he keeps saying his team is the underdogs with the best record in baseball. No motivation at all. It just seems like he does not care and he is to relax, while his team the beware are walking around with there head down, all quite, being upset, again while there coach is all laughing, joking, and hanging around with dodgers players before games 😂

  4. Playing the underdog role coming into this series instead of reminding everyone that your team had the best record in baseball was an odd approach. They beat the Dodgers all six times they faced each other this season so the Dodgers certainly werent going to be fooled by that hustle.

  5. Doesn’t matter what you do in the regular season it matters what you do in the playoffs, which is why I was not sold on the Brewers in the playoffs one bit. I knew this is how it was going to turn out if they played them. Brewers, it’s over you can’t hit against good pitching. Nothing good you can take from the series at all. Pretty bad when you can only get one run a game you’re not gonna get to the World Series with that.

  6. There are a whole lot of classless Dodgers fans in here making comments. Your team was bought. You have the highest payroll in the MLB. You have – by far – the best pitching. Pitching beats hitting. You SHOULD be winning. And you are.

But few of you know how to comport yourselves. You aren't classy losing; you aren't classy winning.

    Enjoy your asterisk.

  7. If he’s this happy after going down 0-3 then I would hate to see how he acts if he were to win the World Series. The brewers will never win the World Series as long as this guy is manager! He’s a clown, and the postseason stage is way to big for him.

  8. I’m tired of hearing Murphy say “well if you think the Dodgers only score 10 runs in 3 games, it maybe 2-1 or 1-2 in the series.” Let’s flip that thought. The Brewers have scored 3 runs total. What do you think the series would be Murphy?
