Goender spent so much time doing tracking exercises and it’s utilized right here as he knows where this puck is coming from and he makes the save. Picked up by Cider. As an athlete, you always want to try and contribute and get things going for your team. And especially when you’re trail, you want to ignite a spark. Unfortunately though, they heed a little too much there and it gets taken away. The Red have it now. Turns it away in front of the net. The goalender covers up for a whistle on the play. Both centers ready to take the draw here coming up. Florida’s won the defensive zone draw three center. Intercepted at center by Kane. Here’s the pass down low. takes that pass back to the floor on a big time save on a big time shot. Sent into the offensive zone. The Red Wings have it behind the net. Florida has got the puck inside the defensive zone and we’ll get a face off after the offside call. Past the halfway mark of this period. It’s 2-1. The Red Wings win the faceoff at center. Who’s the P? Florida’s looking to break out of their own end from the point. They take control of it. Moves it over to Van Reinstein. Here’s a shot. Big save by the goender. Steps it to the middle and he denies that. Great opportunity there. Tries to get it over to Mhy. Tried to get two Q with it and loses possession. Reinhardt close to finding a hole there and just an extra move. Thought he had a little more time and space than he actually had in the eyes. Scores. I got two words for you. New King. Yeah, it certainly is, James. And who’s going to come out on top on the beginning of this face off? You want to be able to get that puck in the offensive zone and find a way to continue to attack. I thought that he should have this puck here, James. I think he does as well. There’s one player net front and yeah, creating a screen, but he’s got to out battle that player one. Find a way to track that puck. [Applause] Centers glide into the dot as a face off ready to resume play. And they’ve got the puck after that neutral zone face off. And now it’s grabbed by slides the puck over. Oh, that’s off the blocker. What a stop by Gibson. fires it into the offensive zone. The Panthers scoop it up along the boards. This is in response to the earlier hit on his teammate James. And you can expect to hit stars openly and not have to answer to it. And as a result, this is what’s happening. The fight is on. And the exclamation mark thrown there. Yeah, this fight is over with that decisive last punch, James. After a fight, the heart rate is elevated. You’re sweating, you’re exhausted, and now it’s time to cool off, simmer, reset your emotions so you can get back out there and play after you sit your five. Well, it looks as though the tensions have finally simmered, and we’re ready to get back to what we actually came here in the first place for. Hockey scores, and we take a drive to Clutch City as they take the lead. Well, the lead is in their hands. And now it’s about building off of that good shift management, dictating pace, controlling the offensive zone, everything. Now it’s on the line. He’s in a high danger scoring area. He’s got a bit of time, but he knows he’s going to have coverage come to him right away. So a quick snapshot and he buries it. The Panthers through their hard work and tenacity have taken a one-goal lead here in the second. It’s certainly better to play with the lead, James, but you know that there’s a lot of runway left and your opponent is going to come pushing and pressing. This game has been tight all the way around and I expect that it will continue to be decent with that hit. Lord has got the puck at the defensive end. Appleton snaps in two and he gets back to the bench to get a new one in. Back into the play carries it in on man rush. Detroit’s playing it from the side. Slides it diagonally to Edmonson. And that’s a smart heads up play by Rodriguez. The Red Wings have it from their own end. And he takes the dish from a tight angle. Throws it on net. The Panthers have it now. Quick pass across to Rodriguez. Florida’s got the puck along the wall and he makes the easy save. moves it to Raven. Detroit’s got the puck into the offensive zone and that’s snapped away in the defensive end by Rodriguez and that one’s turned away and forces a huge turnover here with the steal. When you trail in a game sometimes you try and do too much. You’re overly aggressive and you try and do a high risk, high reward play. And that’s exactly what happens here. Unfortunately, goes the other way. and he coughs it up with the pass. Made the stop on the play. The Panthers can’t control the puck. Receives the pass. Comfort’s got the puck back to the blue line. Takes the shot. Big stop right there. He was locked in there. Goender hangs on for the whistle. [Applause] In the final moments of this period, the Panthers have a little breathing room here, but not much as they lead it 3-2. Sneaks away with the puck after he was tangled up on the draw. And now he tries to get it across to the Brink. And that skips away on a nice defensive deflection. [Applause] [Music] On today’s game, there’s so much emphasis on getting the pump off quickly. The snapshot, the risker, but this one is going to be the slap shot. It just jumps off of the blade of the six and beats the bullender clean. Detroit’s offensive pressure has resulted in an equalizer here tonight. As an athlete, you always know the end of the period is critical time and you want to maintain pressure. You want to gain momentum heading into the third. That goal will do just that. The Red Wings have the puck now. Here they come. pumps it into the ozone. Florida’s got a hold of it along the wall and the puck stopper hangs on to get a breather here for the team. Play ready to resume as everybody lines in for the faceoff. Shots him down. Pinned up along the boards. Oh, he misfires on that. Here’s a short pass to Just and that’s out of reach and out of the offensive zone. Florida’s got a hold of it against the wall. Maran stick handling in his own zone. Dishes it off. Turns aside that blast. Florida’s got it in their own zone. Delayed penalty coming up here. There’s the whistle. And here’s the call. Ravens going off for crosschecking. That’ll always be a call. If you extend your arms in crosscheck, you’re serving, too. Power play unit comes out for the faceoff. Well, with their first power play of the game, you don’t have to worry about getting in. It’s already in there. But you do have to worry about winning the face off. The most critical piece to possessing the puck. Once they get that possession, they can get the setup and the options that they want. Puck exits the zone. Picked up along the wall by HGY. pops over the paint. Here’s a chance. Oh, what a slick stop by Gibson. [Applause] Can they capitalize on this power play? Here comes the faceoff. Off the draw.
