I like this a lot, our window with this team has expanded by 2 or 3 years
I mean if KD can maintain this production for 2 more years this deal is an absolute steal. Say he puts up an All-NBA 25/7/4 on decent defense then it would be absurd value for the Rockets when you look at what other players are going to be making
Finally a star player understanding that teams need some financial flexibility to build out their teams if they want to compete
This man actually took a significant pay cut wow
Rafael Stone has negotiated the best of all the GM’s in the new CBA era. My hats off to him
good deal for him. Especially the play option is always nice to have.
>Durant was eligible for a max extension of $120M, but understood when he chose the Rockets as a trade destination that he’d be sacrificing money – in this case around $30M less – so that the sides can partner for the long term and give the franchise team-building flexibility.
Win-Win for all parties involved
That’s a lot less than Jimmy Butler
Seems team friendly.
KD just left $30m on the table to give the Rockets more team building flexibility.
What a guy.
Prolly got a deal to not plant some trees or something
Dang wow that’s a fair deal for both teams. Stone had has a phenomenal offseason.
Great to see that KD will play for at least another two seasons.
Stone is the best GM in the league.
Thats a 15M per year discount from KD
Thats incredible. Thanks KD!
He might just play forever at this point
Texas income tax coming in clutch.
Uncle getting paid.
Wondering if he can remain healthy.
Leaving money on the table. Nice. Something we should want all players to aspire to!
That’s a very team friendly deal.
Damn, he left $30M on the table, that’s huge. He must really believe in this squad to be serious contenders – and with how Sengun and Amen are developing, they’re going to be top tier for sure.
Damn talk about taking a pay cut
Who’s planting trees in Houston?
Good to finally see a team actually negociate with a superstar (granted and aging one) and not just go “g you’re great, you’re awesome, here’s a contract that will be a bad contract in 18 months”
Keep getting them checks
They will pay him 30mil under table
Good for both sides
I’d say Raphael Stone has now secured KD, Sengun, Jabari, Steven Adams and DFS at below their market value, he’s been an incredible GM the last 3 seasons.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO
Aspiration just opened up a Houston branch. Very unlike KD. Someone light the Pablo signal he’s needed.
He’s going all in with the Rockets for his 3rd chip!
BREAKING NEWS
Kevin Durant has started a Tree Planting Company with a small 30 Million donation from ~~Steve Ballmer~~ an unknown source
Lets fucking Go now go get tari signed for the next 4-5 years and we gooooood
That’s a lot of Landry’s gift cards to make up the difference.
Makes him the highest paid player ever in career earnings still… Getting a max ain’t as important to him as winning now
Championship window extended
People in here acting like not every single of team would give him a max contract. This is an insane discount
Start looking up tree companies in the Houston area.
More teams should look at how the Rockets handle contract extensions with their own players. They are always below max and good value – even for somebody like Sengun who deserves it. Teams always freak out and give out these massive extensions for unproven players, but the Rockets are somehow able to sweet talk their players into taking value oriented deals
I mean, duh.
Obviously KD giving the trade an “OK” meant an extension would be on its way.
Stone is a top 2 GM
Man I feel so dumb.. I was against him coming here as I didn’t think he would fit personality wise but he seems to have fully bought into the culture that Ime brought in, the young core treating the team as close friends I. E all being close with Jalen even after he left it seems and all including KD going to Bari’s high school jersey retirement. He also seems to fit in on the court. I didn’t think he would take a pay cut
So glad I’m being made to look dumb
I forget that KD went to college in Texas, I think he’s gonna have a lot of fun playing on this team. Every year I pick a WC team to look at, this year its the Rockets and Lakers. Whatever he didn’t get to do with the Nets, I think he has a chance to do on the Rockets.
And just like that, not with a bang, but a whimper, the salary cap is dead. all teams will now be circumventing it.
David Stern is rolling over in his grave.
Ok so the money he left on the table will be paid via a no-show job on the side then
Can’t wait for the report of him getting 30m of ufc stock under the table from Pablo.
Does KD have 3 more years left in him?
all that money to not win a championship is crazy.
There is no way he rots the franchise from the inside like he has every stop he gone to. There just is no way!
