was a little bit of a step back from how you guys played in the first two games. Yes. What maybe kind of led to that? It looked like you guys were in for most part and just kind of faded late. Yeah, I just didn’t think uh we had our juice. We didn’t have any much energy. Um didn’t compete hard enough. Um midway through second period, Ekkin scores and you know, shots are about the are getting closer. Squirt obviously is tied. Just what happens from that point? Yeah, they took over the game. What uh could you guys have done better to compete competed harder? Is that the message during the timeout to them? Yeah. What’s uh I guess the practice tomorrow? What’s the kind of the steps you guys have to take to kind of get back to what you guys are doing against Vegas? Yeah, you know, I think we we know what it looks like. We got to get back to feeling what it looks like and doing it consistently. So, that’ll be the message. How disappointing was it not getting many of those power play chances in that first period? Yeah, a couple looks. Um it’s a good penalty kill. It’s a good hockey team. So yeah, disappointing we would have got Wol for five. What’s the message to you after? Yeah, I mean it’s a it’s it’s about the team, you know. I thought did some good things. You know, I think he first NHL game. You only get one of them. So we’ll look at the film and we’ll get better. Just three games in the year, but you know, obviously this team wants to make strides this year. Does it just start with matching the opposition’s work ethic and just kind of go from there? Yeah, that’s a fair statement. Yeah. So, coach, when Ekan got the equalizer, how confident did you feel that you guys could pull this out and then later on in the second period, they took everything over. So, what what what was happening at that moment and when did you see things start to switch? Um, you know, I I even thought going into the third period, you know, we know we were down two goals, but we that had been against us, you know, the last couple games, so we we felt pretty good finding our game. Um but we just never were connected and um couldn’t really get anything going obviously offensively. Um it was kind of man versus boys tonight. You switched the D pairs tonight. Just looked like they kind of struggled as a whole. What what do you want to see better from them especially against a team like that where you guys were really working on the breakout? Uh just overall everyone’s compete level to uh start the second. You guys had actually a few breakaways, you know, some momentum that way. Um, in that kind of position though, do you guys maybe kind of offensively kind of fall in love with trying to generate offense that way instead of just going back to playing basic hockey? Is that trap you guys follow? It’s a fair statement. Even our goal we score where it’s pretty lucky goal. Doesn’t happen very often. You know, in those first four parliaments, if uh you guys scored on that, maybe things would be a little bit different for you. Yeah, it could be. Maybe, but it is what it is. One guy with the work I think maybe was Nadokovich. Did you feel like he kind of you know held good rebound after that? You know, maybe bad. Yeah. Again, we we’ve given up 13 goals and plus four 17 goals if my math is adding up right in three games. That’s not going to win you many hockey games. So, uh it’s a total team effort of how we need to play defense and compete. Say the deep court wasn’t great overall time. What do you think of the biggest display? There’s a couple times it looked like it was just washing the puck and not the mound. Yeah, it’s it’s a fast game out there. I think he learned that. Um did some things. He looked a little bit more confident. Um but there’s awareness things that we got to work on. I mean, they’re obviously a really good team. They’ve been playing well to start the season and um I thought we had some really good looks in the first period and um after that it seemed like they uh just outworked us and um couldn’t find a way to battle back. Would you point to that specifically the work part? Um uh midway midway to the second you guys were looking pretty good but after that they kind of took over. Yeah, like I said um they uh started you know putting a lot of pressure on us and um we just didn’t win enough battles low and on the walls especially on the walls um and that’s you know what they do best and that’s where they keep the pressure on and um do what they do. Looked like the power play you know struggled a little bit. What made their penalty kill so effective to keeping you guys wide and maybe disrupting your guys’ movement a little bit? I thought we should had four power play goals tonight. So, um I thought we had some really good looks. Uh Smitty early, um Ekki in the second, uh me in the third. Um I thought we had some good looks for the type type of uh penalty kill that they have. Um obviously they put a lot of pressure and um and stuff like that, but uh we definitely had some really good looks. So Tyler, you guys had backtoback overtime games. What seemed different in this game? Uh we just couldn’t find a way to battle back. Like I said, they uh put a lot of pressure on us and um won a lot of battles and um obviously the way that they play is a a frustrating style and um that’s why they’ve been a good team the past bunch of years. Is this a measure measuring stick to see how far you guys still have to go to play with those guys? Sure. I mean, I think we’ve played two really good teams before this as well. So, um I think we understand the type of style that we need to play in order to be successful and um I we definitely didn’t do that tonight. What was the message from Morski during the timeout? Uh to work harder. Which uh we’re talking about Michael Misa tonight just making his NHL debut and kind of getting his feet wet here. Yeah, there’s obviously a lot of uh excitement and a lot of pressure and um anyone who’s playing the first game and uh obviously it’s a a huge milestone and very happy for him and um you know hopefully just continue to keep getting better. How do you guys kind of go forward from here? Well, it’s game three of the season so uh hopefully we can get better from tonight. Uh, I don’t know. It’s it’s a tough tough thing to say, you know. I think all around not good enough today. It’s simple as that. Uh, in the second period, uh, you know, after you scored there and you guys are very much in the game, shots are actually getting close. Um, you know, you guys have actually like a few like to start that period, you have a couple of breakaways there, too. Um, just what happens after that where they kind of take over from that point? How are we? So sad. We, you know, we’re just not good enough in the battles in the P play. You know, I got to way make way better plays out there. You know, our line got to be way better than we were tonight. And you know, it we got to create some offense, but we also got to be good on the defense as soon. So, uh, you know, we got to come back tomorrow and see what we can do better. And we’ll be way better in Utah. Is there some positive that take away that you guys were able to create a good amount of high danger chances? I don’t know. Oh, I haven’t really thought about that. You know, we lose 5-1 here. So, it’s it’s not even something I’m going to focus on and you know, we’re going to clean up some stuff here and we’re going to do it tomorrow. Our play got some good looks tonight, but uh just frustrating not be able to to cash in there. Yeah, for sure. You know, you know, they’re they’re good PK, but we we created some good chances. We should have scored. It’s going to happen throughout the game, but also that’s that’s the thing we you know when it’s that close sometimes in the games we we got a very big goal there. So that’s not us too. I’m sure you would have loved to test that goalie a little more making his first NHL start. What makes it so difficult again tonight just generating chances and shots against that team? I don’t know. You know, it’s it’s I don’t know what I can say about that. You know, we obviously wanted to try that goalie more and we did not do it enough and you know, we’re going to be trying the goal in Utah. Does it just start with like work ethic? You know, just just working out working the opposition. Yeah, you know, it’s it’s a game of interest out there and we, you know, we we need to to work hard and work out work, you know, the other guys. And I don’t think we did it today. We’re not good enough. So, uh, yeah, we got to come and work tomorrow. What can you say about your goalender tonight? Paced a lot of shots. did his best to keep you guys in it. You know, all our goalenders are always doing a good thing for us. You know, we they’re giving us a chance to to win every night and uh you know, we we tried our best. We’re not good enough for him. So, uh he did a hell of us. Going back to that second period I mentioned the the breakaways. Is it easy to kind of fall in love with creating offense that way? Um and not playing the more basic kind kind of style of hockey when that you know when that happens? I don’t know. You know, we had a couple breakaways. you know, you can say we also give up some back. So, we don’t want it to happen. You know, we we got to see I don’t know how many times I can say it, but we got to we got to go back tomorrow and we got to going to work on all the stuff I’ve been talking about. So, uh you know, just not good enough. What’s the first step you guys have to improve uh tomorrow? Come in. You know, this game is behind us now. We we got to see what we can do better here. And you know, we come in tomorrow, we do watch film, we’re going to watch clips, and we’re going to see what we can do better here. And you know, I can I can’t tell right now, but you know, we got to got to work hard. That’s for sure.

What can be said [ … ]
New coach needed for the sharks. The position should open up after a few games.
One day we'll laugh about this, we'll be like "hey, remember when the sharks sucked? Little did we know"
I don’t understand how the Sharks owner takes shots at Doug Wilson and then he tolerates this garbage…At least under the Doug the team was competitive and had chances at making a run for the cup.
The coach said work harder…lol 😂 Way to go coach…and fired
Fans should not tolerate this effort. The entire organization needs to step up and focus on winning ASAP.
Its ok guys. This was our test with the new squad. Look at tape. We obviously get overwhelmed with too much offensive pressure from the opposition. And our defense couldn't hack it. We just got to learn how to pressure defensively. Thats all we could take from this. We cant help our special teams without stellar defense!!
