and the Colorado State Rams. The skating attempting to go backto back wins and get the clean sweep this weekend against the Colorado State Rams who haven’t lost since who they haven’t lost to since 2023 after a win last night that brought the youths back above 500 and moved them to third place in the WWCHL. This matchup early in the season means a lot to these two programs who are used to winning. I’m Valentino Pardo and I’m alongside with Megan Basil. Welcome back to the Solid City and your Utah State. Number 11 from Huntington Beach, California number three. defense number of 115 Number 14, Texas. Ladies and gentlemen, We should expect a pretty exciting game today. There was no goals in the first period of yesterday’s game. So, I’m assuming both teams are going to want to come out and get on top here first. 100%. And after yesterday’s game, which although we thought it ended two-0, I checked this morning and it looks like they marked that goal at the end of it. So, it finished 2-1. Colorado State getting a goal kind of consolation prize there at the end, but we’re looking for a big game here for both sides. They’re coming into this both third and fourth place in the W uh WCHL. So, this is an important game. They’re both three and two on the year. They’ve played through five games. It’s still early on in the season, but these are two very good programs and looks like both teams are now going to start breaking the huddle and we’re getting ready for some hockey tonight. I’m curious to see how physical this game will be. Yesterday there were four penalties and all of them were against Utah. Yeah, discipline looking like it was an issue yesterday for the skating. See if they maybe talked about that over the break as we get set for some hockey. Ref’s ready, players are ready. They’re getting to mid center circle and we’re getting ready to start playing some hockey. It’s Catherine and we’re getting started here at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. Colorado win the faceoff. cleared out of the zone by Utah. Going to collect that there for Colorado. Fighting up there against the boards. eventually getting out of there for the youths. Passed down along the line, fell out of the zone. Passed out there, chasing it down. That’s Megan Finch to Catherine Zestuk. Gets that back into the offensive zone for the Utes. Now back against the boards, Taylor Winesack gets that cross ice taken away by Colorado number 16 down on the other side of the ice. recovered by Utah and they’re going to get set for another rush, but taken away there for Colorado. Fighting against the boards. Eventually pulled out by Utah and passed along the ice into the neutral zone. Good breakaway chance here for the Utes. Just pushed down the ice. Gathered up by Colorado. shot down and eventually stopped by Netber yesterday. Dantonado had 30 saves and we gave her a lot of credit for that, but I don’t think we gave enough to Dantonado who had 23. Wow. Big game for her last night. She showed it just barely by stopping that shot. Colorado getting into the defensive zone and just trying to get this back into the neutral zone which they do. Schmidlap find against the boards against Ute clear that out of the zone and Colorado will look to reset. Broken out into the middle of the ice. That’s Zestuk fighting for the puck. Stick poke there by Zestrik, but eventually cleared out to the other side of the ice to Charman. Zestic to Charuman. Shot just over. Well done by Knisser there to steal the puck away. Pitch just gets that across to wine sync. Fish fighting for it against the boards there. pushed back out and Colorado going for it on this side now. Good opportunity here for a rush for the Utes. Patterson wrap around and nothing there as Colorado will clear the zone. But good steal there by Ketchum. Now she’ll get on it, take a shot over, and that just went over the top of the goal and out of the zone for Utah, though they’ll reset. Well done by Greenwood. And Greenwood working her way through. Shot just wide. That was Smith on the shot. And Smith will recycle it back in. But good defending there by Colorado, passing it around and trying to clear the zone. We’re seeing Utah have a lot more shots this period than they did last period. Yeah. Already already Utah getting getting it going on the offensive end. And here comes a chance. It’s going to be Manor on the shot just trying to wrap that around. But slip down on the ice and here’s a breakaway chance for Colorado. They’re skating down the ice fast. Take a shot just wide. Good blocked save. Dantonado for the win again. Dan Tonado coming up big. We’ll just catch that one right there. Dantonado coming up big early on here. 15 minutes left on the clock in this first period. Five down and we’ll have a faceoff on the other end. Those were the first couple shots for Colorado this game. Already looking dangerous. That’s Ford on the faceoff and lost that for Colorado. Ford was almost unstoppable last night. A shot there on the way and cleared trying to be cleared out by Utah, but Colorado maintain possession as Finch just tries to get that one out. going along the boards and being gathered up by Colorado fighting for it there. That was soon Zack and passed into the middle of the ice and cleared out of the zone and Colorado’s going to be forced to reset. Passing movements here from Colorado as coc moving through the zone. Missed the shot and taken away by Utah. Here’s a chance for a fast break. Good defending by Patterson. And the puck’s moving down on the other end. Colorado on the other end. Here come the Utes with their own breakaway opportunity. Weren’t able to make anything of it. No. Colorado just trying to put some pressure on the youths as like Z going off the ice. Collision over there. Pressure there was trying to be put on by Manor. She’ll gather up the puck there against the boards and pass it off to Brent. Nice pass by Smith, but weren’t able to keep it. A little bit of back and forth here early on from the Utes and the Rams. No clear-cut opportunities, but the Utes gathered up here. It’s Brent getting it down the ice. process there. Nice break up by Ketchum. Some stick poking from the Utes trying to clear the zone and they’ll do that with an opportunity. Here’s Kishner. Looks like a miscommunication there. Passing it forward as the player went out for Utah just to settle that there. Dangerous from Dantonado. Cle getting that one forward for the youths. A little bit of a foot race there and eventually one taken down to the ice. That was Zestuk. Oh, Zestuk will possess the ball. Centering feed. Hand goes up for the penalty. Ripping. We’ll have our first Sinbin trip of the day. Cutotler Chuck. Collerchuck going in for Colorado. And the youths will get a chance on the power play. Their first look against Colorado State this weekend. as Ford’s going to line up for Colorado against Brent and Colorado won that and just cleared the zone. Ford did an incredible job for Colorado yesterday, winning most of the faceoffs that she was up against. Yeah, she was there. Minute 44 left on this power play. The Utes trying to get something going. Here’s Greenwood. Gets it back out across to Brent. Takes the shot. Just goes wide. Pushed down to the ice. That was opportunity here for Greenwood. Greenwood took the shot. That one deflected off and out. Chance for Colorado to clear and they clear the zone. That’ll go back out to Deantonado. A minute 12 remaining on this power play as Greenwood will go gather it up and give Utah a chance to make some changes. Utes pressing this one forward to Carlston. That’ll be called for icing. Go back out onto the other side. Rare icing on the power play for the Utes and Colorado getting a chance maybe short-handed with 53 seconds left on this power play. Wrapped around and out and again it will roll down the ice and take more time off of this power play. Chance cleared out of the zone to Lvali. Utah trying to make the most of the power play, but Colorado doing well. Colorado clears it again and out back to Utah zone. Lali gathers it up. Cross eyes pass. It’s good to Kishner. along the ice. Youth fighting for it. Ends up well with Winkyn. Shot chance right in front of the ice. And that will do it for the power play for the Utes. That’s a good shot from distance. Lot of ball. Yeah. Now back to even strength for both sides. So that one’s just going to roll down the ice. Icing waved off there. The Zutes get to it. Good chance in front of goal. Tumbled to the ice again. It’s Mayor that fell to the ice for Colorado. Both teams going out for line changes. And a power play getting set for Colorado now. Fish goes in for two minutes. Yeah, fish goes in the sin bin. First one of the day for the youths. And now Colorado get to test out their power play seconds after Utah did didn’t convert. Ford wins the faceoff for Colorado. Colorado or Utah. Colorado did very well holding them. That shot just gets off power plays yesterday. Yeah, like you said, four power plays for the youths yesterday. All kills. So, they may have made mistakes, but it was good. Is that shot off by Ford tried to get that off back to Ford? Ford moving it around. Shot just right there. And Deantonado will pause it with a minute 25 left on this power play. That shot was by McDougall for Colorado. She had a lot of action in yesterday’s game, especially during third period. Yeah, it was very big night for McDougall, but just didn’t work out in the end. Utes got the win as that wraps around and out of the zone. Taking more time off the clock. Chasing that down is Kchuk for the Rams. Little bit of press there from Brent and cleared out of the zone as Kishner pushes up trying to get some pressure. Moves by McDougall there. Like you said, McDougall big part of that Colorado team yesterday trying to come back but just ultimately couldn’t. They’re going to try and change that outcome for today. That deflected by Zestuk. She’s coming forward pressing on the power on the short-handed on this power play from Colorado with 19 seconds left on the power play. Fish ready to get out of the sin bin, looking around and looking for some players. And Utah back to even strength with 645 left. Still zeros on the board for both of these sides. Similar story to yesterday. Sure. One difference I see from today’s game that was different from yesterday’s game is Colorado had 14 shots on goal first period. Yesterday’s game defin Utah’s done a lot better this game at stopping those from happening. That one’s just going to be pushed forward and Utah bringing the press here against Colorado. cleared forward. That was straight to McDougall and back out into the offensive zone. A lot of passes here in the neutral zone. Fighting for possession. And here comes Utah. Shot just over the top. Close by Knisser. Kner on that shot like you said. And racing for the puck. It’s going to be Harrison for Colorado. Good hustle there from Utah. Kishner for Utah was on that rush and Cle as well pushed up against the boards there. Utah trying to clear their zone. Fighting for it was Cle there. back into the neutral zone. Ford back on the ice. Not only is she the top scorer for Colorado, she is also tied for the top assist on the team. So, she’s very important. Very important getting points for Colorado. You know, it’s always good when you can get points, one to two points a game, and that’s set up for success. Good chance there for Utah to get it on the takeaway, but here comes Colorado on the break. Good pass out to Quley. Quayley moving it through the zone. Good stick work there. That was Angel there. Nice shell with a good stick there. Here comes Colorado on the zone trying to get that cleared out, but Utah putting the press again in the hecking zone in front of goal. Good chance there, but cleared out by Colorado. Moving it through is Carlston. Shot there deflected. Nice shot by Brent. Passed out in front, but Corer’s Chuck was there. Zustuk just trying to get that one in, but gathered up by Utah. Some more slippage on the ice. And here’s a chance for Utah as Harris on the break. Good stick there. Harris fighting for it, trying to keep it in the zone. She does. And Harris moving her way through. centering feed but cleared out by Adams. Well done by Adams there to not let anything come of that pass. Adams back out on the puck. Keeping it in there was Greenwood. Greenwood trying to get that one through. Utah will have to reset. chasing down the puck on this end. McLaren fighting for it there for Colorado. Bit of a tangle up here against the boards. Fighting for Utah and Colorado still zeros with under two minutes in this first period. Getting through. Here’s a chance for Utah. Almost got pucked away. Almost still getting it through, but a pad save there by Nabber. Here’s a race here. Lavali trying to beat Schmidzlap. And Utah eventually gets it, but Schmezlap gets back on the puck. And Colorado and Utah fighting for it in the Utah zone. And here racing is Zestuk. Poked away by McDougall. Well done there. McDougall saving Utah. And Zestuk goes to the ice. No call from the referee. Fair game. And a shot there. Saved down. Smith on the shot. And a good save by Neber. Wheel gets set for a faceoff with 49 seconds left here in the first period. Pretty even game so far, wouldn’t you say? Yeah, I would agree. I lots more shots for Utah and more opportunities, but Colorado doing well. Yeah. And out of that comes Ketchum just trying to get hold of that puck and eventually a shot deflected. Deflected off a Smith stick. He’s fighting for it. Here comes Colorado the other way. That’s going to be Liposac but cleared up by Utah. Fighting for it and just a pass forward. Easy block by Dantonado. Dantonado and the youths with 4 seconds left. Both teams fighting for the puck. But that should do it for the period. First period over University of Utah Utes zero, Colorado State Rams zero. Pretty good first period there, you say, Megan? Yep. Pretty same result as last game as well. So, yeah, just say that Utah probably a little bit more on the offensive end in that first period than they were yesterday. Agree. Yeah. And we’ll be back after the 15-minute intermission from the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. Welcome back to Salt Lake City Sports Complex. A big first period for the youth and Colorado State. Pretty evenly matched there, wouldn’t you say, Megan? Yes, I would agree. And I mean, this period was definitely slower than yesterday’s first period. This first period, both teams combined had a total of 11 shots compared to 22 of yesterday. Very big tale of two different games yesterday and today. Now, the Utes felt like they had a little bit more momentum, more momentum going, Mr. Momentum a little bit more on UT’s the youth side than it was yesterday, but as we know, Mr. Momentum likes to change sides quite often. So there’s another 20 minutes in this second period for both sides to see who he which side he wants to be on. Should be an exciting half and another big kind of big game for Deonttonado. Wouldn’t you say? I would agree. Nau’s also been doing well. Nau keepers aren’t wanting to let anything in. Yeah, both both tenders just doing a really good job on not allowing anything in as Ford and Brent getting ready to face off. And Utah wins the faceoff. Charming that cleared out of the zone to L Valley will send that one down the ice. gathered up by Ford, fought for by Utah, and one in the zone. That pass cleared out by Colorado. And now here comes Quali on the other end. Qualally moving through defenders, passing it through. Couldn’t find any of her teammates, but she’ll recycle it back on the other end to Mayor. and it being passed around there all the way to Greenwood. It’s fighting for the puck. Mayor trying to catch it with her glove there. Loses her stick and back out into the neutral zone for Colorado. They’ll reset. Utah wins it in the neutral zone. Big fight there. Cleared out to Greenwood and passed out to Patterson. Puck in the offensive zone for you. For Colorado. Pushed down to the ice. Slipping the youth. Shot by Colorado. Blocked well by Dantonado. Yeah, Dantonado getting a big save there. And Lavali heads out for a change. She’s also super important for Utah with three goals and two assists so far in this season. Only five games in. Utah going to be going with a little bit of a new group here. is Colorado trying to control the puck being bounced around and eventually cleared out into the neutral zone. Here’s a break opportunity. Chasing it down was Wynink. Utah gathering in their own zone but losing it. And Colorado will gain control in the neutral zone. Schmidlap trying to get it out, but Utah pressing forward. Back pass from the Utes and eventually pushed forward, but that’s going to go straight to Dantonado who will freeze it and we’ll go to the faceoff circle. Going to the faceoff circle for Colorado. It’s going to be Emma Compton who loses the faceoff to Manor. Utah pressing forward as Manor on the press and two players fall to the ice. Manor, one of them looking for the shot was Fish fighting up against the boards. The youth trying to press forward here. Collision in front of the goal. Wrap round shot taken by Ketchum. You have a whistle on the ice, a stoppage. No word for where. It looks like a Colorado player’s heading to the sin bin. We’ll get a second penalty on Colorado for the night. Looks like it’s going to be Emma Compton going into the penalty box. And Utah for the second time tonight will get a chance on the power play. Let’s hope they can take advantage of this and get a goal out of it. Yeah, with 1658 on the clock, the Utes will go a woman up. So, they’ll try and control it and immediately get a shot off. And just wide Li on the shot from the top of the zone. Lavali back on it. Gets it. Centering feed just wide. Was a great slap slap shot there by Lavali and out of the zone. But back in from Lavali who will take the shot and forcing a save from Nyar and will go back to the faceoff circle. Nar’s have having to do a lot of saves so far in this period. Yeah, Utah mounting the pressure on this power play. 121 left on the power play for the Utes. Charmand will lose the faceoff to Ford, but the Utes will regain possession in front of the ice, top of the ice, and the Utes will keep it in the zone for Greenwood. We’ll just wrap it around. Passing around for the Utes top of the area just slipped and missed. It was Cle Brent wrapping this one around the boards. There to keep it in was Greenwood. Slips and falls down to the ice. Here’s a chance for Cle who will shot and scores. And the youth shot by Brent. The youths take advantage of the power play. And just like that, Brent gets the goal and the Fighting Utes, the Skating Utes take the lead with 1534 left in the second period. That will be Brent’s fourth goal this season. And a big one at that gives the youths the lead here with 1530 left and they convert on the power play. Correction on my call. Like I said, that was Brent on the goal. And the Utes, they’re pressing forward. And the Utes, unlike yesterday, they didn’t get a power play opportunity, but they get one there and convert. And here the Utes will regain possession. That puts Bren as the tying Zestchuck for top scorer for the Utes. and big at that now that the youths getting players up there with goals helps them out when you can get multiple people on scoring. And that looks like we’re going to have a penalty on the youths for tripping. And that’s going to be Cle going to the box. And with 1440 left in the second period, Colorado is going to get their chance to go on the power play right after the Utes converted on theirs. See if Colorado can get anything going here. Ford winning that faceoff. throw a push, but Utes will gain possession and clear that one out to Nyore’s side of the ice. Smidlap getting on the puck and moving it around the goal, passing it out to Ford shot and trying to push that one in. but eventually frozen by Dion Antonado. Good glove save by her. Bounced out at first, but she was able to freeze it on the ice. Yeah, Cocket was there and trying to just force that one in, but the Antonado just froze it and Ford will go to the faceoff and win it for Colorado. But looks like Ford still on it wrapping around the ice. Skating around putting some pressure on the youths. Qualally, the captain for Colorado gets it out top of the ice. Passed around. Slap shot from Ford. Still on the women advantage is Colorado. Shot there from McDougall. And wrapping it around is Quali. Qualally getting the top top of the ice. Shot there. And McDougall looking for someone to pass it to. finds Kerchuck. Compton and back out to Quali. Good defense there to clear it out of the zone from Utah. manner and they’re pressed forward and eventually no gathered up. There was a good chance there. Sloppy giveaway by Nyar and Utah now back to even strength on that kill. And the Utes able to get out of the danger zone. going there. Taken away by Colorado and they have a chance here on the break but gathered up by Fish. They’re fighting bird on the other end as Colerchuk for Colorado but eventually gathered up by the Utes. Colorado pre trying to press that one forward but there to take it away was slack and down on the ice she goes. Colorado looking to get on the fast break once again, but Fish is racing for it against Kerchuk. And Fish will win that race, but Colorado maintains possession off a skate. And Harrison chasing it down for Colorado as the youths will make a change and bring a new line out there. Simon fighting for it against the boards. one by Utah again. Calling it for on top of the zone was the Valley who will gather this one up and reset for the Utes. That’ll be icing and go back on the other end with 1032 remaining in the second period. The Utes still have the one zero advantage on the Rams following a similar game as of yesterday. Yeah, Utes had the lead yesterday in the second period and they have it again today. That’s going to be good movement here in front of goal. Pass to the outside and moving around, but eventually taken away by Colorado. That was Simon on the steel, but Deantonado will clear it to her teammates. Eventually gathered up by Norris for Colorado as this one’s being fought for in the neutral zone. And still fighting for it is Utah. Knisser doing well. Two 2v1. Kner gets it out. And that was a good shot there. That was Brent from distance from a long way out trying to get her second of the day. Brent still fighting for it. Takes the shot and a good save by Nyar. Brent looking really good there to get her second of the night. You can tell she wants it. And again, the faceoff between Kner and looks like that was not Yeah, Ford on that. And the Utes rare occasion beating forward. Back out to Brent. Brent fighting to keep it in the zone, but eventually taken out by Colorado. Ford fighting for her team. But here’s a good chance. Brent taking the shot from distance. Saved by a glove. Was Norris on that save, but the youths keep it in the zone. They’ll recycle it back in. Staying on side. Chance for Charming. Charmman pressing this one in, feeding it into the center. Beautiful centering pass. Kner was there. And here comes Colorado the other way. Glove brings it down and cleared out of the zone to Knissner. Out to Zestuk. Brent will gather it and bring it into the zone. fighting for it with Norris. And back out to Brent. Chance for Brent. And big save by Nyau. Colorado being pressed up against the boards right now by Utah. Some pressure here from the Utes. And up top of the ice, Manor as a Ram goes to the ice. Still fighting for possession are the Utes. Clee fighting for it on that end, but then eventually gathered up by Shut. Take the shot. Still rolling around. Well done by Utah. And it goes in. Rolling in for Utah. The Utes take the 200 lead over the Rams. I believe that that was Manor who scored the goal. Manor on the goal. That will be her second of the year getting her third point. will confirm as there were bodies rolling around there. But as it looks, Manor getting Utah. Manor getting the Utes the two lead here in the second period. And the Utes are rushing. They take the shot. And again, the Utes score. And backto back goals for the Utes. They lay it on. That was a beautiful turnaround. Wync on that one. And the Utes within seconds of each other. They take the lead again by three. That’ll be Wynink’s second goal of the season. Awesome for her. Well done. Just t taking it around the keeper, chipping it over. Yeah. And now the Utes in full control, but they have the most dangerous lead in hockey. 3 to zero is the lead as Nyau will just freeze that one. Colorado under pressure here with 712 remaining in the second period. The Utes have a three to nothing lead. The youths did really well on their second goal there, following up even though they missed the shot, getting the rebound and sliding it in. Yep. And now they’ll face off in the zone. One by Colorado, but gathered up by Utah and then eventually lost and cleared out. Adams trying to clear that one out, but gathered up and over. Hits the net. and we’ll have another face off. The Valley was just trying to clear that one up and into the net. Looks like we have some changes being made. This one will move right outside of Utah’s zone, right in front of us as Charman will go against it and win the faceoff for the Utes. That one just being dumped into the zone by Greenwood. McDougall trying to get it out. McDougall was trying to get that one out. You’re right. But it was fought very hard for by Kushner. And Lavali passing this one out just off the stick of Greenwood. Into the center trying to get that one across was one sink. And Greenwood just dumping that one into the zone as the youths make some changes. And right off the bench, Ketchum gets that one. and fighting for it against the boards. Taking the shot there. Nice wrist shot by Lavali. Lavali forcing another shot from the Utes as we take a look at that goal. The second goal of the night and just it just rolled in there for the Utes. Get another look at it here. That was a view of the goal before that. And now the youths won the faceoff. They’ll get it in their zone. Fight up against the boards here. One by Utah, but just forced out. Forced to reset. It’s going to be Aishelle. Despite Utah being up 3 0, they are pretty similar on shots on goal with Utah having 10 and Colorado nine. So, Dantonado doing great job at making sure none of those slide in. Yeah, you know, when uh you have a zero on the board for your side, it’s always good if you’re a goalender. Will be for icing. And we’ll go back to the other end. And speaking of Dantonado, she’s going to have a test here. So, we have a little bit of tying up here between some players. They get set for the faceoff. Ford back on the ice for Colorado. And she’ll win that faceoff. And just scooped in. And Colorado, it’s their girl. Forge scores. And Colorado is back in this game. 520 left. Ford tips it past Deantonado. Fourth goal for Ford this this season. Fourth goal for Ford and fourth goal in this period. We were at zeros coming into the second period and fireworks have gone off here at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex as Utah trying to chase that puck on the faceoff and they eventually do get it slack here just trying to get that shot off and get a tip in was Carlson but it Nyau just freezing that one and will go back to the faceoff and again Ford who just scored that goal for Colorado will try and win it for the Rams but it’s taken by Utah. wrist shot there bouncing over the goal and Ford will win it for Colorado and just dump down the ice and icing called as Fish just trying to nudge nudge quali off. We’ve got a little dance party going on for some of the fans here. Gondam style starts playing and the Utes win the faceoff but bad turnover there. Here comes Colorado on the other end. That’s Quali taking a shot and scores. And just like that, Colorado get within one. All right, back in the game. Brianna Quali gets the goal and like that Quali that’s her second goal of the season. Sixth point on the year for Quali and that puts her up there with Ford for the leading point leaders for Colorado. Once again now Colorado putting pressure on Utah. Backto back goals for the Rams and they’re coming through into the zone. Come the youths fighting trying to clear the zone but just couldn’t eventually able to and the other way. Here comes Charming waiting for players. Lavali. Lavali takes the shot but good save there by Nyar. Way to take this shot really quick for Lavali. She had a short amount of time. She took it. Avali was trying to get that one to Zestro, but just tries to clear and now she does get it to Zestro. And here come Utah on the other end trying to get back momentum after Colorado go get backto back goals. Up there was Kner. Kner has been doing a lot this game, giving Utah a lot of opportunities. Brent just pushing that one out. Here comes Brent just trying to push that one away from Schmmedlap. Good defending by Utah. It’s counterattack. Now they come on the other end. A shot deflected off a stick and pushed out of the zone. That’ll be icing and come back to the other end. 238 left in this second period. We have had a great second period. Five goals. It started out with a goal from Madison Brent assisted by Greenwood. Then Carmen Manor, then Taylor Winesk for Utah. Three straight for Utah. And then Ellen Ford and Brianna Quali got one to get this to 32 and get us to where we are now. Definitely a lot more action-packed period, a lot more shots and a lot funner to watch on our end. Definitely as Zestric just trying to fight for that one and push it forward. Eventually that is gathered up by Ketchum. Shot goes over. Eventually cleared out of the zone by Colorado and pressed up by Brent. Pushed just wide on just trying to get that one into the zone for Colorado. Fighting for it. Utah comes out with it. And here comes a twoon two opportunity. Charming. Charming trying to wake make her way past defenders. Eventually controlled at the top by Slack. Slack still remains with it. Will take a shot and it will roll straight to Nyar. Forced to freeze the puck. A minute 27 left in this second period. 3 to2 still the score. Both benches very energetic this period. Lots of noise coming from both sides. Well, they’ve had a lot to cheer about. Five goals in the period after no action seemingly in the first as Utah wins the faceoff and immediately get a chance. Open net looked like there was a shot and it’s still on. Nyau does very well. Nyau able to get that, but Utah still have possession. Norris for Colorado just trying to push this one out. Harrison eventually clears. Falls onto the ice also almost hanging onto the puck. Harris on the floor. Utah eventually able to get it. Oh, nice back pass. pushed up against the boards, but now Greenwood gets it across the ice. Chance for calling for it at the top. Greenwood and good at the top. just missed it. Skating in there. Christensen was asking for it but didn’t get it but Greenwood fighting for it to keep it in the zone. But on the other way, here comes Lip Lipk. But that is the end of the period before anything else could happen. And Colorado and Utah sending off fireworks in that second period. Five goals. We were 000 coming into this one into the second period and well now it’s 3-2 to the Utes. Hoping for another action-packed third period. Yeah. At this track, we’re going to end up with six to six to seven goals for each team. Sounds about right. Yeah. Well, we’ll see you after the break. 15-minute intermission. We’ll be back. We’re here. Your University of Utah Cassie, what’s your names? Maddie. Maddie. And I’m Maddie. Hey guys, it’s Molly. I’m here at the women’s university hockey team. I’m with Clara and Maddie. So, tell me guys, score is now three to two. How are you guys feeling after about that second quarter? Uh, you know, it was a pretty good second period, but you know, we got to bear down this round. Uh, can’t let up. 3-2 win. Like, you can’t have that. I mean, we just need to come back with 10 times more energy than we’ve had earlier. Get more shots on net. Follow through. Shout out Donner family. Love you guys so much. Thanks for watching. Back with you guys. It’s all right. Welcome back to the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. A great second period and we’re getting ready for hopefully another one full of fireworks. And uh just a shout out to our friend in Tacoma, Washington, Kevin Dicki. Thank you for watching it all the way out in Tacoma. And yeah, now we’re back. 3-2 is the score. Let’s give you a rundown of the goals from that second period. We started out with a goal from Madison Brent and then after that it was followed up by two quick goals. One from Carmen Manor and then the seconds later, 20 seconds later, Taylor Wynink just gave us the 3 lead for the youths. But right after that, Ellen Ford gone on the score sheet for the Colorado Rams. Then right after that, it was Brianna Quali about a minute later giving Colorado two goals to make this a 3 to2 game as both teams get set to come back out onto the ice. We’re getting ready for good third period of hockey. Excited to see where this game goes. We’re hoping Utah can extend their lead, but we know Colorado’s trying to have a comeback. Yeah. And with Ford and Quali there towards the end of that uh second period, it looked like Colorado really regained some momentum. Those penalties came up big, especially for the Utes. Um, of course they were able to convert on one of those penalties on the power play and that led to eventually them getting the lead 3-0. But Colorado responded and momentum has seemed to shift to their side towards the end of that second period. Colorado having two penalties so far this game whereas they had none yesterday. So definitely a more physical game. can tell that they really want to come back and revenge for this game. Definitely after yesterday going down 2-1 here at the complex trying to avoid the shut out and trying to get a win for the first time against these youths since 2023. They haven’t beat this team in almost 2 years. And we’re sitting here early on in this season and both these teams are pretty evenly well matched. Both three and two, both right, neck and neck in the standings. And we’re getting set for action in the third period. Ford wins the faceoff and immediately trying to get it into Utah’s zone. Gathered up by Colorado as they force it. And Ford takes a shot immediately taken by Mayor. And they will score right just like that. and Ford again. Colorado tie this game up. And just like that, it’s 3-3. 15 seconds into this game, into this third period, excuse me. And Ford getting her second on the night and her fifth on the year. And we are all leveled up here at three in Salt Lake City. Youths win the faceoff and Colorado, like we said towards the end of that second period, regained momentum and they brought it into this into this third period. 1925 left. Colorado trying to keep momentum from that goal. Yeah, Quley on the puck just trying to hold it in the zone. Let numbers get onto the ice. Cleared out by Utah. And here’s a breakaway chance. Shot from Zestuk and eventually frozen by Nyar. It’s a good chase down by Zestuk to just get a wrist shot off and we’ll go to the circle for a faceoff. Well done by Nyau to not let that sneak in. It’s pretty pretty tra a bunch of traffic in front of that goal. Utes maintained possession in the zone. Tripped up there. No call. from the ref and Zjuk trying to get that one to Cocket eventually controlled down by Znack. Oh, shot off. Good save there by Dantonado. The Utes trying to calm down the pressure, but Colorado still applying it. Cocket fighting behind the goal and eventually pushed down to the ice. Dantonado freezing that whistle from the official and we’ll go for a faceoff. It’s the Utes trying to get back pressure as Colorado will win the faceoff and Utes will be able to clear it up the ice. Holderchuck be an icing call on Utah and it’ll head back to their zone. and Colchuk just allowing that one to go down and we’ll have face off here. Cocket will go up against Brent on this end. Just bouncing around. Kishner trying to fight for it, but Colorado looking dangerous here. Certchuck trying to fight for that one, but getting through the zone. That was Kishner just trying to fight for it. Still trying to fight for it. Zestuk putting some pressure. Greenwood getting past her. And that’s Schmidlap taking the shot. Just missing the puck. Wasn’t able to take advantage of that one v one opportunity. not able to connect on the shot and now tying up here. Utah able to gain possession and trying to clear it out of the zone was Kishner. Greenwood passing passing it to Kishner. Now Zestuk trying to fight for it, but there was Norris to guide that one out. Utah gains possession. just trying to push that one in. Rolls right past the goal of Nightbower. Almost deflected into the goal. Utah gains possession in the neutral zone. Some conflicts there, but no call by the ref. Hard hit there. No arms go up. Wrapound. Good chance there. Fighting for the puck in the neutral zone. One by Utah. And Patterson has a chance to press up. Really good defending there by Brent. Shot there trying to deflect it in. That was winesync. Winkynink slipping down on the ice. Couple players. Utah takes another good shot there. Isel trying to fight for that one. Teams fighting. Both teams just fighting for the puck. Got a battle against the boards here. One out by Utah. Good shot there. Save by Nyar. Bouncing around and eventually frozen. He’s a good shot from Garren. Line changes for both teams here. Get some fresh legs out on to the ice. Manor will take the face off. And who else but Ford for Colorado? But Manor beats her to it. Kept in the zone from Utah. Cle fighting for it. Ketchum trying to put some pressure and Smith takes the shot. Fish just back to gather it up. And now Smith. Cle allowing that one to just go in as Fish goes to gather it. Wally for Colorado pushing this one up. Qualally taking it all the way and eventually Harrison trying to find it. McDougall Colorado trying to get that one in to Quali. Shot just over. Deflected off the glove of Deantonado. Whistle from the official. And both teams will have some change of legs in my eyes. And some new skates for both teams. Line change. Colorado controls the faceoff. That one rolls out. And here’s a chance for Utah. It’s going to be Zestuk one-on-one with the tender. Well done by Nyau. Ny Bower just getting a glove to that and able to deflect it away and giving her side a chance to come on the counter. Running with it was McDougall but couldn’t get a shot off McDougall again. McDougall pre trying to press in past Greenwood, but Greenwood’s trying to get this one cleared out to Lavali and Utah gained possession in the neutral zone. Some changes here, but Utah slip player slipping down. Charming on that shot. Almost got it through, but just not able to get it past Nibbau. That was some really good stick work by Charming to get around the defenders. just dumped into the zone by Colterchuk and Colorado controlling it. McLaren McLaren moving it through the ice trying to find Compton but wasn’t there and Utah get possession. They try and reset and get a rush of their own. Skater takes a tumble as that one just pushed up by Cle and fought for on the boards. Isel just trying to send that one forward. eventually won by Colorado. Horchuck pushed down on the ice. Hand up and that’s going to be a penalty on Utah. Penalty. We’re going to assume it’s probably for roughing. We’ll wait for the official call. Isel going to the going to the sin bin and for the first time tonight well for the first time this period excuse me looks like Colorado State is going to have their chance on the power play. 2 minutes with 1211 left in the period in the game maybe unless this is still level up and we might be going overtime. That one’s just pressed up against the boards. Utah having a hard time getting out of their zone being a player down. It’s just being moved around and eventually cleared out. Colorado having to reset, make sure everyone’s on side. McDougall moving it around getting it to Quali. Qualally takes the shot just wide of Dantonado’s goal. Utah trying to clear it out. Qualally putting the pressure on Ford takes the Oh, shot by Colorado. And Ford gets the Hattie and Allen Ford gets the hattick and gives Colorado the lead with 1132 remaining. A minute and 21 seconds into the power play and Ford gets the hattick and gives her team the lead 4-3 here at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. Ford adding to her big list of points. Yeah, getting that hat-tick and scoring just as many as she scored all season. Three, getting her total up to six now this season. Six goals and four assists for Ford this season on average. That’s that’s almost a goal and a half every game for Ford throughout the year. And that’s what you want to see if you’re Colorado State now. Utah trailing and trying to get back into this. Wynink passing that along the boards to Charleston moving it down the ice. That’s Harrison. Harrison trying to get it past Utah defenders fighting there against the boards. That was Lavali and eventually after being pushed in front of goal. Dantonado having to freeze that. And Utah trailing with 1056 remaining in the third period. Colorado taking the lead after a goal from Alan Ford. You see a replay of that goal there. We’ll get back to action here as Utah won control of that and chasing it down the ice. Who’s going to win? And eventually that was Manor wrapping it around here and taking the shot off there. Deflected just wide is a shot from Smith and trying to be controlled against the boards for Kishner. Utah just trying to put some pressure on here. It’s getting around the goal. Caught in the net and a lot of the faceoff. What a turn of events now being 43 Colorado up just halfway through the third period. Very different from what we saw in that second period now that Utah is back against the boards, but Colorado trying to clear this one out of the zone. The Utes Fish just pushing that one in. Stolen by Colorado. Good post. But here comes Estuk trying to get that one around Holderchuk and eventually cleared up to the top out of the zone and going to have to be recycled back to Fish and pushed up and back around. That’s Kishner fighting for it now. was Charming. Zestuk still fighting up against the boards. Eventually gets down to Charmand. Charming getting that to Zestuk. Fighting for it. And down to the ice goes Kner. Fish eventually gains this one in the neutral zone. Passing it to herself. Off the boards. Utah will make some substitutions. Colorado just pressing this one out. falling to slack. Trying to pick up the slack here for Utah and get some momentum going. Quali stick was on the ground for a second there and Utah fighting for it up against the boards. Eventually ending up with it was Chrismanson. Slap shot just misses. wasn’t able to get very much force on that shot. Nope. But the other way, here comes Ford, the hattrick holder tonight. Moving her way past defenders, eventually taken down to the ice. No call. And Utah trying to get it out of their zone. Deflected off a glove. And Utah some nervy moments as Lavali will try and push this one up the ice. Taking a shot as she falls to the ice. and goes up and looks like we’re going to have a tripping call. Utah will go to the power play with 806 left in the third period. Megan McDougall has been big for Colorado State tonight going into the sin bin. going in there for tripping. Does have a face off with McDougall off that might affect their defense. Yes. And immediately you see Utes trying to get a shot off, but Greenwood will have to backtrack this one. Some pressure coming off from McLaren. Utes just trying to get this one into the offensive zone. They get it into the neutral zone. Zestuk. Zestuk trying to get this one around. Gets it to Brent. Has a goal today. Greenwood deflection. Tried to tip it in right in front of goal. No one there to tap it in. And that one will be cleared by Colorado with a minute 10 left in the power play. Good job by Greenwood to take that shot. And Charman’s going to try and push this one up as the Utes trying to get this one out. But pressure by Ford killing clock off this power play. Here comes Estuk. Whistle on the ice. See what the call is. Seems offside on Utah with 44 seconds remaining on the power play for the Utes. They’re trailing 4-3. hoping to get something off of this power play. Controlled by Utah. Pushed up the ice. That was Ketchum trying to get that forward. She gets it back. Great here by Kishner getting it across the ice. Shot just across the goal and eventually gathered right back up by Wen. Deant Antonado having to get this one back and having to freeze it with 10 seconds left on the power play. 616 left. The Utes Colorado surely wanting McDougall back on the ice. Yeah, but now that they get the puck on their end, Utes, if they win this, might have a chance for one last rush on the woman advantage and the youths will gain control of the puck with 7 seconds left on the power play. Looks like Colorado’s going to Colorado State’s going to get the kill as we get back to even strength here. Kishner gets across ice. No one there to gather it up and Colorado State coming the other way. That was a beautiful centering pass earlier. Unfortunate no Ute player was there to finish that off. Good by there from Charmman. Good pass in the middle. Still bouncing around. Eventually Nyau freezes it. as the Utes trying to sustain some pressure on Colorado and get the tying goal. Shot off there trying to deflect it in. That was Patterson. Keeping it in the zone for Utah. Skating it around. That’s Ketchum. And getting back on the puck is Patterson. And bad pass out of the zone. And now be forced to push it back up. Patterson giving right back to Colorado. Colorado is players falling to the ice. Centering pass sink trying to get that one into the middle. Puck pushed back onto the Colorado zone trying to get it clear. No one there and Utah will have to pick it up with 423 as that called for icing. 423 left and the Utes down a goal. They’ve had the majority of the shots in this game but not able to convert on them. 34 shots to 19 for Utah as they control the faceoff, but Colorado get the steal and they’re pressing this one up. Simon trying to get that one across to Harrison. Well done by Greenwood to block that centering pass. Deflected off a stick and Utah trying to get this one in and across. That was Manor trying to getting that pressure in and trying to redirect that towards goal and Colorado the other way. Greor. Colorado State really trying to press this one forward. controlled by the Rams. Pushed up ahead. Chasing that down is Quali. Icing waved off. Ford trying to get a shot on that, but Quali regains possession. And back to Ford. Eventually controlled down by Utah. And here’s a chance. Chance for Charmin but offside called on the fast break. 304 left in the period. And with 304 left in the period, the score remains 4 to3 to the Colorado State Rams. Puck dropped and eventually controlled by Utah. Zestuk Fish now stolen by Cockett fighting for it against the boards. Eventually controlled out by Utah. Pushing that up the ice was Kishner. Taken by Colorado State. More time ticking off the clock for the Utes. 226 remaining. Down a goal. Patterson pushing this one up. Fisher. Fish just trying to get that one and eventually controlled by Utah. Wynink pushing that one up. But again, Colorado there and that was Schmidlap and Fish. Utah just trying to control it, but keeps getting picked up by Colorado. A green jersey wherever the Utes look. And right now, here’s a chance for the Utes. Skating it around. And just over on the shot was Patterson. Recycled in some pressure, but eventually cleared out by Colorado. And here’s a chance for McDougall. Qualally takes the shot. Sorry, McD McDougall, you were right. And here come the Utes as they just dump that one into the zone. Making some changes in the line. You can feel the tension in here right now. Utah trying to get something in the goal. Well, with a minute left, wondering when they’re going to call out Dantonado. And they do. We have an empty net on Utah’s side. A shot just wide. Zestuk trying to recycle it. charm and eventually goes in and recycled in. Shot deflected. Colorado trying to gain control. 36 seconds left. Utah trying to take the shot wide open. No one there to recycle it. This one bouncing around and eventually cleared out of the zone. 24 seconds left. The youth Brent trying to get this one forward. Colorado gain control with 16 seconds. pushing this up against the boards. I shall with it. I shall just trying to get that one in. But with eight seconds left, does Utah have time? Four and up against the boards. And that will do it. Colorado State come in on the second day and steal a win from the skating and win this one four-3. The Utes had the lead coming in three-2, unable to score, but Ellen Ford a hat-tick tonight for Colorado State. That is the story and they take the win and get their first win against the youth since 2023. Ford was by far the player of the match for this game. Incredible. She did an awesome job giving herself opportunities and amazing passing as well by both teams. But I feel like they did a lot better this game at controlling the puck and not giving it away as much. Momentum was definitely there for Colorado the whole third period. That was that was all them. They deserve that. Yeah. And although it’s a loss for the youths, it’s still early on the season. They go to 5003 and three on the year. They’ll fall to fourth place in the WWCHL. Colorado will climb and they’ll get a a step above 500 now. 4-2 on the year. These teams will face each other again later on in Colorado, but final score here 4 to3 Colorado State take the win. I’m Valentino Pachardo along with Megan Bassil and it was great. It was great to have you here tonight. Coming up next, the Utah men’s division 2 team takes on Wyoming. You can catch Ellis on the call for that one. But for us tonight, thanks to our production crew. Have a great night and go youths. glass. Okay. Hey guys, it’s Molly. I’m here with Colorado State’s women’s hockey team. I’m here with Elon and Emma. So tell me ladies, what was it your key to success today? It was keeping a positive attitude. Even though we were down 3 0, we kept going and cheering each other on. So it was the positive attitude that really what led to the goals. I totally second that. We totally turned things around halfway through the game and scoreboard reflected that. How did you feel after that last winning goal? Oh, just best feeling ever. We haven’t beat Utah, I heard, in like four years. So, it’s just nothing like it. I’m just so proud of Elon. She’s so good. Especially with a hattie. You can’t beat it. Thank you guys. We’re back with you guys. Thank you.
